Ik my stats aren't good, but what're my chances, especially in state? What other colleges should I go for?
Hey! Just wanna thank yall preemptively for any help you can offer, I'm really struggling here lol.
I'll get into my stats and my college list for a reference of where I'm standing in a bit, but if you want more details read the next paragraph:
I'm just about to enter 12th grade, and I've been doing college research for the past few months. I know I want to major in comp sci, and I've made a pretty sizable list of colleges, but the vast majority of them are far reaches or extreme safeties. I feel like I can't find any colleges good for comp sci that are just good schools without way above me, or utter garbage.
For reference of where I stand:
My stats:
4.33 weighted/3.75 unweighted GPA + 33 ACT + class rank 165/501
My ECs are VERY lacking, which is the main thing holding me back from being competitive in this field with all the extremely smart/hard working kids with 5 million awards and ECs. I have ~50 hours in volunteering (only like 5 of which is comp sci related), a few years in taekwondo, one year of ACSL which I qualified for finals in (but didn't participate), and that's it. I'm working on a certification and hopefully getting a job in coaching younger children, but the chances of me getting those before applications is pretty low, so just assume I won't have them.
I'll have one very good letter of rec from my history teacher, and one alright rec from my comp sci/math teacher.
Colleges on my list that are safeties: Temple University, Michigan State, UNC Wilmington
Colleges on my list that are reaches: UIUC, Tulane, UVA
Colleges on my list that are matches: Syracuse, Rutgers (new brunswick), Auburn
NC state and UNC chapel hill are both bordering match/reach, EVERYONE in my high school and that I see online want to get into these schools, and due to comp sci being so competitive it's only gonna be harder.
Any and all help is appreciated, I'm really concerned about my future because of how competitive comp sci is, and how underprepared I am. Shit is stressful. Thank you all so much. If you need/want any more info, just comment it and I'll be happy to provide it.

What are my chances at each school? What good schools will accept me?
background: rising senior, second-gen immigrant, indian female, middle class, midwest, suburban public school,,, anything else y'all need to know i can update ig
stats:
coursework (no ib at my school):
extracurriculars:
potential weaknesses:
letters of rec/essays: basically nonexistent rn, lor's are (planned to be) from non-core teachers who know me fairly well/have had me for more than a year in class
i want to go into ai/machine learning down the road but i'm not exactly sure what i need to get there,,, colleges, scholarships and even majors that y'all can chance me with (esp match and safety schools bc i've been pretty delusional as far as reach goes) and any advice given is greatly appreciated. thanks :D
demographics: south asian, upper/upper-middle class (however not like, able to afford college and pay tuition without aid/loans/scholarships rich), female, suburb, wealthy public school, rising senior this fall
sat: 1500 (770 reading/730 math)
grades: mostly As with some Bs (first semester straight As, second semester three Bs [will cite some medical issues that were happening this time as a reason]), will have completed 12 AP classes by graduation
gpa: unfortunately my grades in the second semester junior year really impacted my cumulative gpa so it's 3.88 unweighted, 4.6 weighted. it's also important to note that my school weights honors and ap courses equally so it's quite generous about that
club leadership: model un, student wellness club, asian student union, baking for charity club
other clubs: student advisory board, dance club
other leadership: teen advisor in a mental health organization, will be a student assistant for my school's diversity equity inclusion staff member (who is writing a rec), jamie raskin fellowship summer before junior year
sports: track in 10-11 grade, dance both inside (club not team) and outside of school 10-12
recs are from teachers i am very close with (but it likely harms my application that neither teach a core class) and i know my counselor pretty well as well (unfortunately because of some mental health issues though)
some things that would be cool in my future college: urban campus, high caliber quality of academics, has a hip-hop (SPECIFICALLY hip-hop) based student dance team/company, classes aren't humongous, easy to switch majors (no clue what i'd like to major in), on-campus housing that doesn't have mold, good meals (in terms of nutritional value), nice library and gym, would give me some merit money, has lots of student clubs/organizations to get involved with
edit: i'm also a second generation immigrant but i don't think it'll help because both my parents immigrated to the US to come to college here
--
i'm really struggling to find schools to apply to. i was very into UCLA but I've been told my second semester Bs basically destroy my already meager chance of getting in. i think i also need a bit of a reality check rn bc some other schools that seem hot are UChicago, Yale, and University of Pennyslvania and i need to lower my gaze to schools that aren't outlandish reaches lmao

if you've read this all, thank you!
Sat-1490 UW GPA- 3.84 (4.0scale) WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR AEROSPACE ENGINEERING IN
GEORGIATECH STANFORD DUKE UCB UCLA CORNELL PURDUE UM ANN ARBOR
Rising high school senior, going into computer science. I live in New York City and want some feedback on my college list (is it too unbalanced, other colleges I can look at, etc).
My current college list (in order): MIT, Columbia University, Princeton University, Harvard University, NYU, Cornell University, Yale University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Brooklyn College, New York College of Technology
I am a low-income Hispanic male with autism.
SAT 1570 (800 Math, 770 EBRW), with UW GPA of 3.7 (my school doesn't do weighted). Only took one AP class (AP US History), but my school only allowed a maximum of two AP classes (a preference filing error caused me to not be registered for the other AP I registered for). Got a 5 on that AP exam.
I was involved in quite a few clubs, including math, school newspaper (as a lead writer), the debate team, D&D, finance, with expected involvement in NHS in the following school year.
I participated in a summer program called CS4CS at NYU, which taught many aspects of cybersecurity and was where I conducted research on password security (I was a co author of the research paper). Additionally, I have had an internship as a writer at First Take School of Journalism. Other than these two, I have a cybersecurity blog (https://cybersec.deadandbeef.com) and have done contract work for HackTheBox (online cybersecurity platform).
I received a silver medal for my performance in debate team, as well as a $500 scholarship from an organization called GripTape (site is here: https://griptape.org). If it counts, I have also received CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification from Cisco Systems, with a pass date of July 22 2023.
I'm just looking for some solid schools with good proximity to my home state, along with a great CS curriculum and plenty of internship opportunity.
Indian, considered international because I’m on an H4 visa. Need aid. From NJ.
Stats: 102.866 weighted gpa my school doesn’t do 4.0. 1520 SAT. AP: 5s in everything AP Stat, AP Lang, APUSH, AP Calc BC (AB Subscore of 5). All honors and AP coursework. Extracurricular Activities:
Robotics (Mechanical Officer 22-23, Co-President 23-24). Led the development+testing of mechanical components, planned+executed training events, managed $21K budget, organized 4 yearly STEM outreach events.
Civil Engineering Intern at Township of something, Department of Land Use. Oversaw $2 million road program, inspected new property development, was a liaison between dept and homeowners and contractors, helped town engineer.
Investing Club (Co-Founder and President). Ran bi-weekly meetings, led discussions to ~40 members, organized trading competitions, encouraged addition of investing class to school curriculum.
Model United Nations (Secretary for 2 years, President for senior year). Led bi-weekly meetings, organized school participation in yearly MUN conferences, taught public speaking/debating skills.
French Honor Society (Member for one year, secretary for senior year). Led pen-pal exchanges to students in France, organized school-wide multicultural events, increased awareness of francophone culture through dance.
National Honor Society (Tutoring Coordinator). Managed tutoring requests (200+ per year), assign tutors to students upon request, organized and led 2+ service projects in school and community
Sailing. Sailed as a hobby, received American Sailing Association (ASA) 101 certification.
Leadership Intern @ Camp Invention. Mentored students grades 1-6 in science, planned STEM experiments, aided teachers in managing classrooms of 20 students, bolstered interest in STEM.
Peer Leader for Freshman Advisory. Helped a group of 25 freshmen adjust to high school, helped run yearly freshman orientation.
Math Honor Society. Participated in math tutoring events
Science Honor Society.
AWARDS: Awards: F.I.R.S.T. Robotics Deans List District Semi-Finalist (Given for evidence of leadership on a robotics team, was the first one in 10 years to get one from my school). School Science Award (was given $1000 scholarship) National Merit Commended Scholar?? AP Scholar with Honor. Robotics district championships (1 year).
I’m interested in schools that are small to medium sized with a strong engineering program and research opportunities. Student life should be tight knit and collaborative as well. Please give recommendations for reaches, targets, and safeties.
Thanks in advance!
Coursework: CBSE
Intended Courses: Major in CS and Minor in Film Studies

Won first place at International High School Screenwriting Contest.
ECs: 1. I've written a couple of my own screenplays and made a few short films for over 6 years. Mostly self-taught, and also did a four-hour screenwriting course. Also, currently working as a writer on an indie film. I upload reviews and screenwriting tutorials on my channel alongside short films (I only have 28 subscribers, though).
Currently doing a 50 hours HTML/CSS course while creating a self portfolio-esque website using the knowledge. Learning python as well.
Been playing guitar since 6th grade. Completed Trinity Grade 1 (Merit), Grade 2 (Distinction) and Grade 3 (yet to be taken) in Plectrum guitar and have played for multiple school events.
Was the deputy academic head of the school (10th) and member of cinematography club (10th and 11th).
Won multiple national level cubing competitions with over 1000 participants.
Not sure if this is an EC, but I'm fluent in Telugu(mother tongue) and Spanish(2nd Lang in school) as well apart from English.
Note: Some random ECs I'd done, but aren't very important, are:
Won 2nd place at a debate in my school in 9th.
Participated in MUN.
Demographics: Argentine male. Hispanic? My skin is white. Parents are college professors. My father has written multiple books about Marketing and business administration. I don't know if this is relevant at all.
Income bracket: <3.500USD yearly. (i wish i was kidding)
GPA (Argentine school system does not offer AP courses, GPA can't go above 10):
2nd year (9th grade): 8.1/10 (3.39/4.00)
3rd year (10th grade) 8/10 (3.36/4.00)
4th year (11th grade/not finished): 9.3/10 (3.78/4.00)
5th year (12th grade): assume a higher score than 11th
SAT: Not yet taken. Scored 730 on EBRW on practice test. Skipped through the math part. Assume a high-ish score
Class Rank: not given
Intended Major: Computer Science
ECs (Extracurriculars): Computer science course on one of the top national universities with "outstanding" final score.
Harvard's CS50 Intro to computer science
If all goes well, about to start Private pilot training which, if finished, makes me a certified private pilot. I am very curious about how this looks, especially given my lack of ECs.
Assume minor programming project in the future.
Also i have written, directed and edited multiple short films (some of them around 10 minutes) with groups of around 7-10 people and will continue to do so in the future as part of the school curriculum. I know this is more artistic and unrelated to everything else but who knows
Awards: None. Assume none. Didn't even know this was a thing until i delved into US college admissions
LORs (Letters of recommendation): None. Assume two, hopefully one from flight instructor.
I know this is all mostly hypothetical and that I'm mostly a pretty pathetic candidate compared to others since I am an international needing full aid but i just want to know just how slim my chances are before i go any deeper into it. Thanks.
Ok so i’m a rising senior applying to around 5-7 schools. 4 i’m applying to are T50s. three are just state schools near me. background on what major im applying for: im applying and auditioning for mostly theater/acting programs. i then have the intention of wanting to double major my second year. I want to also major in nutrition.
ok so into my stats
Gpa: my gpa is 3.4 unweighted (.2 off from 3.5) and weighted it’s 4.2 not spectacular i know, had some trouble freshmen year and im graduating a year early so had less time to fix it
SAT/ACT: i did not know i was taking the sat until a day before due to being an early grad so i scored a 1160 and im taking the september ACT (time to study, yay!)
ECs: i’ve been doing theater for 5 years now, 4 of those years have been production classes where i performed 1-2 times a year (production class=jv or varsity) Ive also been apart of my highschools varsity color/winterguard for all three years of highschool. i was also class president my freshman year but i didnt do much tbh. i did robotics in middle school but im not including that anywhere because after i left my private school mid-middle school i stopped being in it.
volunteer work: I was a girl scout for a couple years and while i was we did many different fundraisers. the most notable was a shoe drive we did where we raised 25,000 pairs of shoes and there was a news segment about it (the video haunts me to this day) i also have done some volunteering at my school and my local middle school.
I wish my daughter were doing this, but we kept her off social media and now she's pretty social media illiterate. (Go figure.)
We are lost. Her dad and I want to help, but we only applied to one school each, I think, and we only looked in our home state, where we were each born and raised.
About my daughter...
Fave subjects: math, physics, chemistry, economics, history
Least fave subject: gym; also hates "creative" stuff, like open-ended, creative writing stuff (makes her anxious because she likes there to be a "right" answer)
Vibes: liberal/very liberal student body, chill campus scene (no party schools), academically engaged students but not cut-throat competitive not 'snobby', for lack of a better term
Location: someplace with 4 seasons. Loves the mountains, forests; doesn't really care about the ocean. (Not a fan of the desert nor of really hot temps; liked Montana, but not Utah, for example.) Looking at East or West Coast-ish (we are from the Midwest)-- NY, Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Northern California, maybe? No suggestions for Texas, Florida, other states that are very "red", please, but otherwise willing to broaden the search. Someplace that's generally safe, ideally; she is used to going all over and not really having to watch her back and I don't want that to change. She spent a study abroad year in France and went everywhere on public transit, walked around alone at night, etc., and felt very safe; that's the kind of freedom I'd like her to have in college. No clue about college in Canada, but would maybe be open to that?
Stats: 3.9 uw gpa; 6 honors classes, 1 AP, 2 dual enrollment CC college classes. Hasn't taken the SAT yet because of COVID and study abroad. Generally does well on standardized tests, but does get anxious on timed tests, so it's kind of a wild card.
Longer story: It's *complicated*. COVID kept her from taking some of the more rigorous classes because she stayed remote longer than 99% of her classmates. She still took some honors and AP classes. Several of them she was only able to take for half of the year, though, because she was remote the first half, so she didn't take the AP test, for example. Two dual enrollment classes at CC (got an 'A' in both). Spent her junior year in France; received credit from her U.S. hs.
ECs were very limited due to COVID, through no fault of her own. (We were, and still are, extremely cautious.) No leadership stuff--she's a major introvert, so that's not her jam. No flashy hobbies. (Would legitimately read books all day if left to her own devices; sadly, no awards or scholarships for 'most books read'.) Hobbies are all very recreational and most are not group/organized hobbies (partially down to being an introvert, partly due to being not overly sporty, and also due to COVID). Enjoys baking, sewing, ballroom, archery. Favorite places are libraries, art museums, and parks with walking trails. Enjoys volunteering, but didn't get to do any in high school because COVID hit; we're allowing her to go back to it now, though.
Schools on the radar so far:
Kettering University
pros: co-op, strong STEM focus, small school, kitchen in the dorms [baking is a major hobby]
cons: no French courses, no pre-existing French study abroad options, location, very little time off [this one is my complaint, specially; I am really going to miss our family time!], limited majors [she hasn't narrowed down what she wants to do and I worry that it might be too limiting], no clubs for her hobbies, no real library [library is her happy place]
Cal Poly SLO
pros: small, on campus animal shelters [she's majorly going to miss the family pets], location [except it might get too hot there?], STEM focus, study abroad options, French classes (even a French minor), archery club, ballroom club, dorms have kitchens [baking is a major hobby]
cons: she doesn't know what she wants to do [this is the biggest issue with this school], OOS tuition, lower odds of admission, not sure when or if we could visit campus, possibly not as accepting/liberal (keep hearing about "lack of diversity" on campus)
Colorado School of Mines
pros: small, location, STEM focus, French study abroad option, French classes (but more limited, not upper level), French study abroad, local archery club, ballroom club, dorms with kitchens [baking is a major hobby]
cons: OOS tuition, lower odds of admission, not sure when or if we could visit campus
Vassar
pros: she liked the vibe on campus ["quirky", interesting people], felt very friendly, liked the art museum and campus in general, have family nearby, location, good study abroad options, French minor, more majors than the other schools listed, kitchens in the dorms [baking is a major hobby], archery club
cons: cost, not sure how good the science and math programs are?, low chance of admission, no ballroom dance club
Notes: We visited Vassar at the suggestion of a friend. It otherwise wouldn't have been on our radar. Daughter liked that it was an older campus, relatively speaking. (She's in love with old architecture, ornate churches, Roman ruins, etc., spoiled by her time in France.) We really were looking for a public university. Not interested in the pressure cooker/drama of applying to Ivies. Considered Michigan Tech, but don't know anyone who went there that liked it, which is concerning (although they do have a mineral museum and my daughter likes to collect specimens).
Would appreciate suggestions of other schools to consider. The current list is way too short and doesn't really have a range of safeties and reaches.
Thanks if you managed to wade through all of this.

Feeling very lost/ behind with the college admissions process. Would really appreciate any help!!
Mainly struggling with coming up with match + safeties.I'm thinking of majoring in IR and then (potentially!) going to law school but no idea for now. also if I dont get into a pretty selective school my parents would rather me major in something more safe i.e. a stem background.
Looking for a mid-size college, not in the middle of nowhere, and good connections for IR related internships. Not into a big party scene, academically rigorous but not cut throat. beyond that I have NO idea what i want lol.
