Here are my main ideas:
I live and Cali and am 100% going to a Cali Uni. I just need some advice to help widdle this decision down
hiii! can my teacher add a recommendation on common app after i submit my application? this school doesn’t require any but i want to submit another teacher rec.
hiii! i am finalizing all my colleges on my list, but i was just wondering what are some good safeties/target schools for a healthcare management and policy major? i am also looking to double major in the music performance realm, so any schools that are flexible with that would be super helpful too!!
for reference i‘m submitting test-optional, and my gpa is 3.6 uw/4.1 w.
thanks so much ! :)
Let’s say I spent 30 weeks TOTAL, for 8 hours a week, on an activity that i started april of my junior year. Do I put 30 weeks per year or 15 weeks per since it has been 30 calender weeks, but it has also been 15 weeks per school year, lmk if that makes sense?
Hello yall I need some help pls So basically my friend and I are both applying to USA and we both have commonapp accounts. The problem is when she added me to be her recommender it tells me to create an acc. So do I need to open a new acc or use my commonapp id?
So I’m in a situation.
I had a 3.7 gpa my sophomore year but my junior year I had a 2.6 due to severe mental health issues (I had hospitalizations) but my cumulative is a 3.3.
Some people are telling me to apply early for my reach schools who are very selective to increase my chances. I was wondering to wait to take the SAT but I know my score is going to be below average or not good enough most likely. But I was also wondering if I should wait until the first quarter of this year (senior year) is done so I can submit the grades then. I’ve worked on application essays and my EC’s a lot, and I have a few basic awards but I don’t know what the right choice. My dad is telling me there’s no point and I’ll get rejected (he doesn’t think I can get into any college) I’m just really stuck right now. Please help.
What the post says. I've heard its a good tool, but just wondering if anyone has experience with it and if it has really been helpful.
dm me for amc leaks
Do you guys think its a good idea to bring up an anecdote from like 5th grade for an essay💀. Because i know people shouldnt write about accomplishments or stuff they didnt from before high school so i dont know if its a good idea
For the Georgetown University activities section, you can write up to six activities and then select different activities that you were in from a list. Should you list activities that appear on that second list in the written part as well? Or should you reserve that part to list activities that don't appear on the list or that you don't have room for in the "Other" section?
just dm me or something please
FLVS Flex courses are online courses that students in high school can take while FLVS is a virtual school for home school students
I literally just got diagnosed with dyslexia after doing a test due to teacher recommendation and it surprisingly came back as positive. I was always a slow reader but thought it was normal, I have had good grades and am planning on applying early to Stanford, should I mention it?
I have heard that it may be easier to get admission when with such a diagnosis but mine came very late and it has never really impacted me.
I do qualify for extra time now but I have never used it yet, might use in my final exams…
Hello, Reddit! I'm an international student currently working through the college application process, and I’d appreciate some guidance in finding the right fit. Here’s what I’m aiming for:
**1. Academics**
- Major: Computer Science (CS)
- Ideally in the top 100 CS programs in the US
- Globally recognized for strong future job and internship opportunities
**2. Location & Campus Life**
- Prefer a warmer region (not too cold)
- Campus culture isn’t a major focus, but I’d love a friendly, supportive academic environment
**3. Class Size & Professor Interaction**
- Small or moderate class sizes that allow for easy interaction and connection with professors—personal connections and mentorship are very important to me
**4. Financial Need & Support**
- My Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) is around $20-25k
- A need-blind university would be ideal, especially considering my budget constraints as an international student
**5. Stats**
- SAT: 1510 Superscore (790 Math, 720 English)
- GPA: 3.9
**6. Exchange & Study Abroad Opportunities**
- A good exchange program would be a bonus for broader international exposure
**7. Extracurriculars**
- My ECs are alright, but not the best, so a school that values academic potential would be ideal
Any suggestions for schools that fit these criteria, particularly those with need-blind admissions and supportive financial aid for international students? I’d really appreciate any insights! Thank you!
Hi everyone, one of my teacher recommenders sent me a draft of her letter for my review. How am I supposed to know whether it's good or what she should improve on? It sounds solid, I just don't know if it'll genuinely help my application.
Will having a B in [regular] Biology impact my chances of majoring in Biology at a T20?
I’m worried that colleges will be like “oh this kid got a B and wanted to do biology major? Rejected!”
My ACT is a 34 (36 english, 36 reading, 34 science, 29 math (yikes!)). This score is around Yale's median, so I'm not sure if it will be detrimental to my EA application. My accuracy on the math section is decent, but I usually run out of time on the last ten questions (so studying more probably won't be helpful).
For context, I am applying as a history and classics major, and I will also be submitting 5s on AP Lang, APUSH, AP World, and AP Euro. I go to a small private school in New England where the average ACT is around a 29. Any insight would be appreciated!
it is super unclear on their website(s)? there is literally two different websites. which one of them says they dont accept self reported scores, whereas the other one states different policy. idk which one of them is updated because there is literally no information when the policy is uploaded
edit: MSU for michigan
Idk if this is common knowledge or not, but on November 1 when most school EA and ED deadlines are, common app tends to crash, so submit those applications early folks.
I don't wanna end up requesting 5 separate letters from a teacher
just submitted my early action apps and i am LOSING my mind! everyone is saying its out of my control now but is there anything i can do to boost my chances or at least stop thinking about them
Hello I'm back again with another activities question. Each year, I volunteer for a 1-day festival for 10 hours and 5 hours for 3 charity meal events at the same organization. Is this a good way to put the hours per week and weeks per year on Common App?
Hrs/Wk: 10(festival)/5(luncheons)
Wks/Yr: 1(festival)/3(luncheons)
I'm applying for LSA and I want to major in CS (advanced selection). For the Why Michigan essay, you're supposed to talk about the qualities that attract you to the specific college you're applying to. Do I talk about LSA since that's my home college or the College of EECS because that's where my major classes will be taken. (I'm not really sure how it works)
i have an interview tmrw for a super sigma school but it's at a coffee shop. i get the urge to plop in my porcelain throne whenever i get nervous as well as when i drink coffee. pray for me alphas 😖🙏🙏
ps. this is genuinely not a joke i have a messed up digestive system. this is not a shitpost i genuinely beed advice
guys its time to quit I think im finally freaking out after the realization has hit that I have nothing to show for colleges 😭😭😭
all of my ECs and stuff are like all digital computer stuff like photoshop/3ds max and stuff but none of them connect to any meaningful connections
my gpa is prolly around average for my school being 3.89 unweighted and I have an sat of 1410 (with a retake NEXT WEEK 💀💀💀💀)
I think the only vaguely stronger part of my app is the like 11 I think ap exams/classes I took but like I also think its not very unique esp since im asian
idk what to do or where im fit for its joever it really is time for mcdonalds
I'm planning on dropping out of hoghschool and getting my GED, but I'm concerned about how that will affect scholarships for me. The college I plan on going to offers a freshman scholarship based on ACT scores and I qualify for the highest one, but that won't fully cover everything. Also, does taking a gap year affect scholarships and financial aid?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!
Hi everyone,
I'm applying for Early Decision at Brown University and I’m in a bit of a time crunch. If I send my SAT scores through the standard reporting method now (not rush reporting), do you think they will arrive in time for the November 1 deadline? I understand that they accept scores from the October test, but I'm unsure about how long it typically takes for scores to be processed and sent to the admissions office.
it's basically about cooking during Ramadan (which is when everyone fasts) and how it was my favorite way I served my community. But, should I stay away from this since ND is heavily Catholic??
I’m a mechE looking for east coast schools, 1460 SAT 4.5 GPA, looking for merit aid
Honestly just a rant more than anything <:
Last 3 years, I studied in India, then went to Canada, and now I'm here in the US, yet before anyone asks I don't have citizenship in the last 2 countries mentioned, so this already makes applying to college here insanely hard because now I'm the int category :(. (this is also my like 13th time moving)
Not only that, when I moved, despite me taking the hardest classes at my Canadian school, it wasn't recognized here, so I didn't get any sort of weighting, nor from India either.
So now I'm stuck at a 3.1GPA, with no "hard" classes to my name, technically speaking, however my guidance did agree to say something about that in my LORS.
The only thing I got going for me is my SAT, 1460, but I'm planning to retake, and honestly now I'm wondering if I'm wasting my time in doing so because what big difference would a 1500 make.
My ecs are alr: led a short term biz, part of robotics for 2 years, comp sci club for 2 years (exec), did some media work, did photography and teaching assistant for a nonprofit group, tutor my sister daily, recreational tennis (maybe going to play in some tournaments), etc.
I'm so behind on everything because I've been pushing everything off due to the November sat, but now I'm doubting if that was a good decision at all? because even with all these circumstances, mid ecs, and okay sat, I don't even know if I can get into state schools tbh.
I'm not aiming for Rutgers or anything, just stuff like NJIT, Montclair, etc, but honestly, idk anymore if I'm a worthy applicant because everything in my app seems so mid.
I would genuinely appreciate some words of advice from anyone who knows/has been in a similar situation. Should I just give up and go back to India, or try my hand at whatever possible here?
