This is your/our Park County council member, Dave Wissel, TAKING A NAP while the county manager, Mike Smith, gives his response to why he is being fired unfairly. The council’s reason for firing Mike is his lack of respect? While the council member moves off public cameras to take a nap? Apparently, the 100+ respondents were too boring to stay awake for. This is a middle finger to everyone who lives here and an outright message to us saying they don't care. Don't care about us, preceding OR respect. That's saying he's going to do whatever he wants and there's nothing we can do about it.
Interested in building a small cabin in Park county and just wondering if the permit and inspection issues make it too hard for me to build my own over time.
Construction experience, used to own a rain gutter company.
Hundreds of successful automotive repairs (only had to take it to the dealership to save me once when my Ford 5.4 spark plugs broke)
Quick learner.
Let me know what you need help with and what you're paying
Considering buying land in the Estates of Colorado subdivision. Anyone have experience buying and building in that area? Thx
Hello everyone! My husband and I are considering moving to Hartsel within a few years. I’m doing a lot of research on the area, and areas nearby. The ultimate goal is to buy a modular home and place it on my mom’s property once they get settled. How are the schools in FairPlay? We have two young kids and this would be a big move for us, and I want to make sure we get them in a good school. If anyone has any good advice about the area I’m all ears!
Wife is under the weather so I have an extra ticket.
Not looking for any $$, just pay it forward.
Any recommendations for installation of electric service?
How much are companies charging per outlet on new construction projects in the area? Thinking of building a new home.
Hi all, I'm posting in behalf of my sister who does not have reddit but she is a park county resident. She has found a lump in her breast and we tried to apply for the free screenings on the Denver Health website and we got a message that said "we are unable to serve uninsured individuals living outside of the county of Denver for non-emergent care"
Can anyone attach resources in the park county area, or atleast help us get some direction on how she can schedule a mammogram with no insurance? Thank you all in advance!
What home owners insurance are you all using? I have State Farm but am doubtful they will cover what they claim to if I lose everything to a wildfire. Has anyone done research on carriers up here in the wake of the recent wildfires on the front range?
Anyone been up these recently? I'm curious how snowed in they are up top right now.
Just curious to all on this thread. I spend a lot of time on reddit, but I forget that I follow this because I never see any activity from it. Do we still have any other redditers in ParkCO?
Hello all! Interested in buying land in Park County. Is there a site, group, etc available with resources on development (driveway cut in, junk removal, water, etc.). Trying to do my research before any moves. Also interest in any development project examples and cost (understood cost has too many variables to accurately apply to every situation). The land would be used for camping and maybe tiny home many years down the line. Appreciate any help!
Hello everyone,
I am looking for a piece of land to use as home base in Park County. I am looking at Hartsel, and have no intention of building. I just want to have a paid for place near all the beautiful lakes and mountains that I can camp at and drive from.
My specific question is, if I were to drop gravel, place an insulated shed that I can lock up, and visit a few times a year am I going to have to deal with permitting and issues related to that?
I'm looking in Hartsel area and also wanting to know how those rolling hills treat things like tents set up for a couple weeks at a time. Would you recommend those 5 acre lots of going smaller by some trees?
Love it out there and really want to be able to call some of it my own

How tough is vegetable gardening in Park County? I read you "can" do it, but I also "can" run a marathon and you will not see me doing that. I'm sure site selection plays a big part but is it a pipe dream to imagine having half an acre planted with freeze resistant crops? Thank you!
Hello, we are thinking about adding an RV garage to our property, any suggestions on builders?
Thank you Ron
Is there any child care in the summer? My son currently goes to edith teeter but is too young for the boys and girls club.
Specifically well and septic, primarily looking in the Bailey area. Possibly Alma/Fairplay around Valley of the Sun/Placer Valley. I know it won't be exact, just looking for a ballpark.
Need help retrieving drone from about 60 ft tree in Fairplay, co.
Howdy everyone this is Mike aka failed drone pilot from Texas. I ended up getting my drone stuck about 60ft up a tree at an airbnb. I was wondering if anyone had advice on services that could hire to get it down and ship it back to me in texas? Much appreciate any help.
Hello,
We are considering land and building in Park County next summer after many years of visits. We currently live in C. Springs and have started looking further into the process. I am hoping to get some feedback on two issues we’ve encountered regarding Park County’s building permit and inspection process:
A builder told us this county was “the worst to work in” due to local inspectors often making unreasonable demands or otherwise trying to make the process as difficult as possible. He shared some stories and told us several times that when compared with any other county, Park was one he avoided at all costs. I know inspectors can sometimes be difficult, but we are not planning on any type of unusual building. Is Park really *that* much worse? We are considering looking to surrounding counties if this is the case.
Also, I am concerned that even once the build and move was complete, getting repair or light building work done would be too expensive and/or difficult. We have also been told that even appliance repair work is difficult to arrange because everyone wants to avoid working in the county. Again, how true is this?
I expect that everyone has an opinion and experiences may vary. We are just trying to get some kind of second opinion from people who live in Park County and have built there.
Thank you!
Hey guys-
Colorado native moving up to Bailey. Built a small home at end of a dirt road on the south side of Burland, they're trying to finish it and the snow has become an issue. Finally getting the county back to plowing the end of the road to the driveway as they hadn't for a period due to no one living down there.
So I am looking for someone to plow the driveway so the subs can finish. With the small off chance of a short distance of road sometimes. Has been hard to find someone. Does anyone know anyone?
Thanks in advance, doesn't seem to be something much anyone advertises for.
Just want to shout out to my county to raise awareness of the Park County Radio Club and the Park County ARES Group. We are always seeking new members for both the club and ARES volunteers. We coordinate closely with county emergency services as backup communications. We also instruct STEM or STEAM classes (+Art) with the Park County Library and Schools. We recently did an ISS contact at the Fairplay Highschool. https://www.ab0pc.org/index.php/2019/04/09/pcrc-ariss-event/
We meet once a month at the Bailey Library. Every other month we offer HAM Radio Licensing exams along with a study session before hand. If anyone is interested in being a HAM radio operator in Park County please feel free to drop by or drop us a line on the website.
