A friend and I are riding west to east on the TransAmerica bike route starting in June. The route travels south through the Rockies from Walden to Pueblo. My son lives in Denver, and we are planning a detour to visit him along the way. Want to avoid traffic as much as practical, and travel on the safest routes. Getting through the eastern most part of the Rockies appears challenging in terms of traffic in the Denver area. It appears there is a "scenic route" that heads east out of Walden and dumps out near Fort Collins. Fair enough, then I need to get from Fort Collins, into Denver near the botanical garden south of downtown, then down to SR96. Looking for route recommendations.
Seems like the possibilities are
For 1 or 2, looking for route recommendation from Fort Collins south, or if you have some other ideas (3 above) open to that as well.
Thanks!!
I moved here a few months ago from Upstate NY, where I’m used miles and miles of back roads with little traffic and, on busier roads, ample shoulders with little debris. I’ve only been here a few months, but most roads look any combination of too busy, sandy and debris-filled shoulders, or no shoulders at all. A lot of back roads with less traffic are also in terrible shape with tons of potholes. I’m prepared for this to not be a road cyclist’s paradise, but there have to be SOME safe riding routes, right? I normally ride 20-30 miles but I occasionally want a good weekend 50-mile ride.
New York also had the Empire State Trail with upwards of 50 uninterrupted miles of paved cycling/running trail through the countryside and into NYC. I know COS has a lot of trails but a lot of them look like they’re either not completely paved or less than a few miles long and way too short for cycling. I made the mistake of trying the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail—a little too sketchy for my taste. Which trails are worth riding?
TLDR; Moved here from the northeast, looking for similarly accessible and safe road riding.
Hi, I need a repair done on a carbon frame. I see a few options in the area. Does anyone have one that they recommend?
Does anyone know how many people had signed up for this years' Ride the Rockies tour before it was cancelled? Or what went wrong? I did this three times several years ago and back then you were lucky to win the lottery to get a slot.
Basically the title. I know it usually opens sometime in May for bikes. Anybody have more specific info than that? I'm trying to ride it during that slot when it's open to bikes but not yet to cars.
The bridge I use to get onto the South Platte Trail at Park Ave needs maintenance - part of the bridge surface is sticking up about 6 inches above the ground on one edge. Who do I report this too? It's not an option on the 311 website.
My family of four is looking to relocate within the next year from Lawrence, KS. I have a 13 year old and 10 year old. All members of our family are very active and enjoy the outdoors and all it has to offer. We have remote jobs so finding an job is not an issue.
I would love some information /opinions on moving to Buena Vista or Salida with teenage kids. We are looking for a laid back vibe and friendly community. My wife is an educator, so we are also interested in some opinions on the schools. We have visited both places and have some concerns that BV is too small. However, it also is appealing due to the small town community feel.
We currently live on the outskirts of our current town in the country and do not wish to move to a neighborhood i.e. not living by a big city or in the center of town in not that much of a concern. We fully comprehend that moving to Colorado means having to pay more for housing and life overall. We have researched and looked at restate and are familiar with the realities of current housing prices.
We have also considered Evergreen and Golden, so we would also be interested in getting opinions on those locations as well in regards to raising a family, education and becoming part of a community.
Hi Team,
I’ll be visiting Boulder this upcoming Saturday (April 20) with my tri bike. Sadly, the weather forecast on Saturday looks rather wet for Boulder - but Denver suggests dry conditions.
I only know some bike routes north of Boulder. Can anybody here suggest good bike routes in the Denver area (or really any dry area in driving distance from Boulder)? Looking to go out for a 70-100mi training ride
Thank you!
I haven’t ridden much since 2021 when my kid was born. Last summer I thought I’d start getting out and even bought her a shotgun seat, but didn’t go for more than a few rides around the neighborhood. Now I’ve got a second coming and am more interested in cargo bikes and city rides for now. By the time I get back into MTB, this bike will be a dinosaur.
So hate to sell a bike, but if if anyone is interested in a 2019 Commencal Meta TR Race, here’s the ad. $1850. New tires, grips, front shock service. No issues with this bike.

Thinking about getting a NCM T3S e-bike since it's eligible for that $450 discount. Does anyone else have one of these bikes that could provide feedback on it?
Also, where are the best places to ride e-bikes in Colorado? I tried doing some googling but mostly found stuff targeted towards e-mtbs and the T3S is definitely not a mtb.
Hey y'all. Hopped on the registration a bit early this year, and it turns out that was a bad move. A friend just scheduled his bachelor party for that weekend, and well, there's always next year. I was looking at a deferral to next year, but there's the option of selling to a waitlist rider. Do they sell out? Is it worth the gamble of a few bucks to wait a while?
I recently got a power meter and I’m looking to do a 20 minute FTP test. Where do you all typically do your outdoor tests in the Denver area? I live near Littleton and frequently ride at Chatfield, but I’m curious what else is out there.
Thanks!
Hey all! Female that is going to start biking to work in rino this spring. How’s safety on the rino portion of south platte trail lately? I haven’t ridden it in a few years. Are there still camps there? I’ll be riding the portion from confluence park north to Washington st.
Anyone have a good alternative route to skip that part of the trail if it feels sketchy? Maybe Brighton Blvd bike lane?
Thanks in advance!
Almost lost my shit yesterday going through there - the Westbound side is full of Ice/Slush mess.

Deciding if it’s worth it to drive from Front Range to camp/bike Fruita area. AllTrails isn’t helpful at the moment. Any input? Thank y’all kindly!
Anyone know the condition of 470 bike trail between Parker road and Chatfield? Snow melt run off and construction?
Just wanted to say thank you to those that helped me get up off the street after the car turned in front of me. If anyone has videos / witnessed the accident please DM me. I was unconscious before I hit the ground and have barely any memory of the scene until the ambulance grabbed me.
FWIW I’ll be “OK” but am just looking for anyone with additional context to fill in the gaps.
Thanks!
Picking up a new gravel bike tomorrow and can’t wait to take it out! Can anyone recommend some beginner friendly gravel rides in the Denver/Boulder metro area?
