Skiing past hotel check out time at Keystone?

I'll stay at the Hyatt Place in Keystone and their check out time is 11am. My flight is in the evening, so I wanted to ski from 9am to 12pm, then somehow shower and change clothes.

The hotel says there are no late checkouts available for the dates I'm going.

I got some questions: Is there a place to leave my bags in the hotel?

Are there lockers and showers in the mountain?

Any suggestions on how the logistics for this should be? I've never been there.

We're building a website to help with ski trip planning, we need your help!

Hey guys, we're building a trip planning tool for ski trips. We realized that doing ski trip planning requires a lot of research about the destination and there are often many unknowns about the trip like the weather snow quality and crowd. So we're building a website that allows you to easily find ski resorts that fits your preference and plan your trip.

We would like to hear from you, how do you currently plan your trip and what could we do to make your trip planning experience better.

If you could also take 2 minute to fill out this survey https://forms.gle/HeUMdGFLeNL4rVSs8 it will be a tremendous help to us!

Nick's Garage Tunes is back for the 2024/25 season! Affordable, quality ski/board waxes local to Denver metro

Hi Everyone!

The temps are dropping and the snow is starting to fall in the mountains, which can only mean one thing, it's time to get those skis and boards tuned up for the start of the season!!

I'm excited to announce that Nick's Garage Tunes is back again for the 2024/2025 season!

For those of you who don't know me or my business, My name is Nick and I am an avid snowboarder and gear enthusiast who loves to help people get the most out of their gear. I have been tuning my own equipment for the past 19 years, worked at a ski shop in college, and now provide my services to the community as a low-cost, quick turnaround alternative to some of the bigger shops in the area. I treat every piece of gear as if it were my own and use only the highest quality, eco-friendly waxes made right here in Colorado, by Purl wax.

I am offering tune shop quality waxes, edge sharpening, roto brushing, p-tex fills, and base welds with a two day turn-around (depending on volume during busy season, tunes may take up to 3 days).

*All waxes, including temperature blended waxes, are $30. I will offer recommendations for temperature options and blends based on current snow conditions.

*All waxes include an edge tune/sharpening, base cleaning, p-tex fills (if necessary)

*Customer referrals will receive $5 off their next wax

Please email nicksgaragetunes@gmail.com or PM me here for more information or to schedule a tune. Act fast as spots will fill up quickly with the season only a few weeks away!

Excited for a promising 2024/2025 season. See you on the slopes!

-Nick

Update from Where to ski this weekend

I went with the second most upvoted option. Clearly pretty rough at this point but I got plenty of turns to scratch that itch. Big thanks for all the ideas and the first hand advice. The road here was pretty rough but we were able to be confident because of the help. September has been skied, and now October will make 12

Rumored plans for a carpet snow facility in Castle Rock

I just heard thru the grapevine that some coworkers did some work for a carpet hill in Castle Rock a while back, perhaps even years ago, but it seems to not have taken off or maybe quietly in the works. Anyone heard of this project?

Where to ski this weekend and no you can’t talk me out of it

I need to finish the month of September to ski every month of the year and I have waited too long in this month so I’m wondering if anyone has first hand experience at recent snow patches and can advise me I would really appreciate it. Looking for hopefully at least a couple turns. Probably don’t want to go more that 6-7 miles round trip with gear. Thanks!

Aussie noob looking for a snowboard lesson

Hey folks, I'm heading to Keystone for a snowboarding trip in mid November. Only problem is I haven't touched a snowboard in like 30 years. I'm keen to not be a burden on my group, and get a private lesson to get up to speed a bit. The lessons from the resort seem pretty expensive ($800+). Anyone got any tips or contacts for a more cost effective lesson? I'm happy to pay of course. Any advice appreciated!

Thanksgiving options

I have two free days the week of thanskgiving this year. What would people recommend for some early season? Copper? Breckenridge? Should i expect any appreciable difference in the experience that early? Obviously November snow is a gamble.

Do adult ski camps exist?

Hey y'all!

I'm an intermediate skiier (blues, pretty comfortable with blacks unless there are bumps). I would like to improve my downhill skiing this season and am wondering whether multi-day or week-long ski camps exist for adults.

I've done a lot of Googling, but I'm really just finding kids camps.

Don't they know us adults could benefit from ski camps as well? 😜

If you know if any camps that fit the bill, I'd love to know. Thank you in advance!

Looking for a Boulder snowboard/ski buddy!

My name is Peter. I live in Boulder, and my best friend is moving to Denver so I’m looking around to make new friends. I snowboard Breckenridge mostly (epic pass). I’m a solid blue some black diamond snowboarder. I usually drive up for first chair and leave before traffic. I also supply some really good whiskey usually! Sometimes breakfast burritos too! Looking to maybe grab a beer and see if we can be friends before the season starts! Dm or reply in comments!

Public transit.

Want to get into skiing in denver have Mondays and Tuesdays off. The only public transit I can find is winter express but it seems to only run on weekends. Am I missing something? The internet seems to be telling me no.

Secondly does anyone know the vest close slope if you were to drive?

Eldora vs Winter Park Multi-Week Lessons for 4 year old

Hi folks. Getting ready to sign up my son for a multi-week lesson plan to get his ski career kick-started. He's also doing a few lessons at Shredders this fall. I'm trying to decide between Eldora and Winter Park.

Both are 4 week lessons. Winter Parks are all day (6 hours) and include lunch. Eldora is 2.5 hours. either morning or afternoon.

Winter Park offers an early season (December) option Saturdays or Sundays for $674. I like that it's all day and offered early in the season so we could take what he learns and build on it ourselves for the majority of the ski season. Of course, he may get tired/bored and not last the whole day.

Eldora's lessons don't start until January. If we did it there I'd probably take him out of preschool early and do Friday afternoons or something like that for $539.. We live in Golden so Eldora is also the most convenient option to get to.

Any thoughts? Experiences with either program?

We are building a new ski buddies mobile app and we need your help!

We know the season is just around the corner, and we’re excited to share that we’re in the process of building a new mobile application called SnowOverflow. Our goal is to make finding new ski buddies and organizing your ski trips easier and more enjoyable—especially for folks in this community.

We’d love to hear from you! Please comment below with any features you’d like to see in the app. What would make your ski trips smoother, more fun, or more connected?

Additionally, if you have a few minutes to spare, we’d greatly appreciate it if you could take this online survey(https://forms.gle/cakTwAR3tuMmeasR8) to provide more structured feedback. Your input will be invaluable as we shape SnowOverflow to best serve your needs.

Thanks so much, and looking forward to hitting the slopes with you all!

Any young adult snowboarding groups/snowboarders?

My daughter is 20 and is a good general mountain (no park) snowboarder. She would love to have someone to ride with. We are in Denver and mostly do one of the Epic passes but occasionally do the Ikon. We haven't bought passes yet so kind of open. We usually try to plan a trip in the spring for 4-5 days to somewhere we haven't been (Park City last year, Telluride a couple of years ago).

Recommendation CO snow experience for young family - no skiing/snowboarding

Hi all! My wife, daughter (2) and I are looking at a ‘snow getaway’ for a few days in Colorado. We’re from Australia, but currently living in Dallas for a few years, and want to have a snow holiday before we head home. We would like to spend 4 nights in mid February (around Washington’s birthday/President’s day) up in the CO Rockies and looking for recommendations of which ski field/resort/town to stay at. We are currently thinking of either Keystone or Breckenridge.

We would not be looking at skiing/snowboarding at all, more so looking at family friendly activities (tobogganing, snow tubing, building snowmen, general snow play etc)

We would also like a place with easy access activities, restaurants and if possible, a small market for food/basic supplies (walking or shuttles). Looking at spending no more than about $2000 for lodging.

I have significantly discounted rates available to me for an Epic pass if that would also be worth it for a single trip this 24/25 season.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - we’re snow rookies and want to make sure we aren’t disappointed!

Christmas Day traffic leaving Keystone to the airport

Planning a ski trip from 12/21-25 and will be flying out on Christmas Day around 5pm. Would we be able to ski Keystone that morning? Thinking we’d ski until around 11am or 12pm (and check the traffic on Google maps around that time.) But have heard some warnings about traffic due to construction on the highway and the holidays.
