Eldora Weekend

So I live 12 miles from Eldora and my schedule allows me to ski basically exclusively weekdays. I have a buddy who normally comes to visit every year during the week and we ski all over but this year his schedule we needed to plan a Sunday ski day so we are planning on eldo. Being I’ve never been on a weekend how early does the lot fill up? Do we need to get there at 7:30-8? Earlier? Thanks in advance all you weekend warriors I appreciate the sacrifices you have made to answer my question lol

Is there a skiing group for couples where one person is an adept skier and the other sucks ass?

Was up shredding at Eldora today with my wife and she completely ruined my vibe cause she is clueless . I was excited she decided to get a pass this year, first one since Covid.

And as we’re getting off the lift with this dipshit other couple, she completely wipes me out. You should have seen the looks they gave us.

Anyway, I ended up ditching her and at least spared a 4 out of 10 day, but wondering, is there a group for couples like us where we can ditch the noobs and go shred?

Beginner ikon skier looking for riding friends!

Hii! I’m 25 f, work remote in tech and I just moved to Denver from Boston! I took my first lesson in December & got an ikon pass to try to improve as a skier since this will be my first season ever! All of my friends are much better skiers/snowboarders than I am so I’ve been going up alone for the most part —- but I would love to do some runs with other people around my skill level! I’m mostly trying to pick up parallel skiing instead of just pizza-ing the whole mountain down. I can ski greens & groomed blues and I love going to copper & winter park! HMU if you want to ride together, my work schedule is pretty flexible & I could definitely take off a day or 2 at work to go ski to avoid the weekend traffic

My husband and I live close-ish (~11miles) to Eldora. We have two extra bedrooms in our modest house that we live in full time with our dog and cats. Is it worth trying to maybe rent out a room overnight for skiers coming up from Denver and beyond?

We’ve never hosted strangers in our home before and don’t even know if there’s a need for a service like this when Eldora is so close to the Front Range anyway. I know the couchsurfing app is a thing but haven’t signed up yet. I don’t want to turn my home into a full time Airbnb either, nor do we want a full time renter. Just thought about offering up a room maybe on the weekends during ski season. Any thoughts? Bad idea?

Mount Aetna and its sister peaks is among my favorite scenes in Colorado.

Another awesome Saturday at Monarch. Breezeway was closed for high winds at the peak, but we made the best of it as always.

Found skis - Keystone lot

Hey All - found some loose skis in the keystone lot today. Toward the front of River Run. They were there when we arrived and still on the ground when we left. Hit me up with some info on make/model/size. Hoping someone on here and can get them back to you instead of run over and smashed in the lot!

Skied Taos in full for the first time and was disappointed. Interested in hearing others' thoughts on the resort.

I was in Taos years ago near Thanksgiving and only the main lift open. Second time I was expecting to explore the mountain and spend two days there. Just finished today and I'm having a hard time wanting to go back tomorrow. Apologies for the negativity but I'm honest with assessments of places.

Their listed skiable terrain acreage is in the area of ABasin and Solitude - but I haven't gotten bored at either.

I assume a major factor at Taos are the lower snow levels, which causes a ton of the extreme terrain to be closed, or at least not enjoyable to ski like on the West Basin Ridge - which looked nasty in a bad way. And WB ridge and Highline ridge are hike only so if you don't want to keep hiking for runs that takes a ton off the map. Kachina was also closed and apparently doesn't open up til late February.

Skiing Highline ridge was alright, much longer hike than I expected / maybe juice was not worth the squeeze.

I also didn't ski a single glade - I didn't see any opportunities to do so. I talked to someone on a lift who said they've had a bad snow fall counts so maybe this is all skewed. Also, the fixed grip lifts sort of dampened things, I'm spoiled with high speed in Colorado.

The good vibes at Taos, the fact that you're in NM, and you don't have to deal with I70 are all great. Al's Run was cool too but pretty rough as you got lower.

All of that to say is that I'm not seeing the skiing allure of Taos. Interested in hearing thoughts of others who have been there.

Tires slashed

Just trying to get off the exit and into Alpine lot at 9:05 am, using both lanes as any prudent driver would. I wait until we are just about to the lot and a pull in front of a kind chump in a Toyota hybrid and settle into my prime parking spot.

Amazing day of chipping Jerry Von Boomer o. My way to the park, put a family of 4 in the white room lol. Pounded a slew of White Claws and hit on some milfs from Texas at Lunch

Finish an amazing, sidewall deep powder day to find my tires slashed and a note that said “Fair Warning”

Anyway you all can suck it! I rule I 70!! Stay in the left lane I’ll pass you on both sides!!

If dogs could ski...

Would they have 4 individual little skis on each paw or would they have 2 skis but one front and one back paw on each? 🤔

I70 mess

Just an FYI for today, left at 5:45 and still haven't made it past Floyd hill. Worst traffic I've ever seen for no fresh snow. Avoid 70.

Is I 70 traffic forecast website dead?

I used to use CDOT's I70 traffic forecast to plan when I leave my house and when I leave the slopes but I can't find it on a Google search anymore. Has it been permanently shelved or is Google just getting worse? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Are there any upcoming ski gear demos? Particularly for downhill skis

Like the title, wondering if there are any upcoming ski gear demos as I'm in the market for a better ski, but ideally would like to try them first.

East coaster looking for Ikon pals

Hey everyone, my name is Jeremy! I moved to Broomfield from Virginia just over a year ago with my girlfriend and we have struggled to make connections. We aren’t the most outgoing people but I love skiing and get out to winter park or copper almost every weekend, almost always solo.

Soooo if anyone is in a similar situation or wants to make a new friend, I’m happy to drive and can bring a few beers for the lifts if that’s your thing.

I’m 27 and working in tech (remote) so I really need to put myself out there and stop being such a social hermit.

Thanks for the free sticker😘

Whichever one of you left this on my windshield in the Copper Alpine lot, you’re a gem. This will make a nice addition to my collection

Did you lose a pair of gloves at A Bae today?

Tell me the brand, color, and roughly where you lost them and I'll get them back to you.

Best way to meet other advanced/expert skiers?

I recently moved to Denver and was curious about the best ways to meet other skiers of the same level. I’ve been skiing for 24 years (I’m 30) and while I have friends who like to ski, they don’t enjoy expert terrain as much as I do.

Edit: I appreciate all the responses, I had alot of good laughs. Im taking a sick day next wednesday/thursday (tbd which day) and going solo to a-basin. If anyone wants to meet let me know!

Best sushi

Hello. What are the best sushi spots in Dillon/Silverthorne/Frisco? I’m also open to other restaurants, especially pizza or TexMex? Thanks.

Night Skiing at Keystone - Crowded?

I’m thinking about heading up tonight. I assume parking & lift lines would be more chill than mornings, but can anyone confirm?

I see Summit Express is still down. If only the front side is open, that could create a lot of congestion at Montezuma. But again, not sure what crowd size typically looks like. I don’t really care about the conditions. I learned to ski on ice so it’s fine. More worried about the parking & lift lines. Any input is appreciated!
