How was it? Considering copper tomorrow but won’t be able to get to 70 until 8am which I know is late during peak time but not sure early season.
I have a trip in early March to Telluride for 4 days. A couple of my buddies are trying to figure out where to go early/mid April. 2 full days of skiing and back home. I am a long time CO skier and travel there 2-3 times per season from out of state. Any recs on best conditions for those months? I usually stick to the Summit County area but am open to other easy accesses from Denver airport. My main stays are Copper, A Basin and Breck. TIA.
Hey all, I am planning to go to Keystone tomorrow. I just got a new snowboard and I’m super excited to use it, but I’ve heard the beginning of the season can be rocky and some people recommend using “beater” equipment so the bottom of my board doesn’t get all scraped up etc. Is this necessary? I could use my old board if so. Just hoping someone who’s been to Keystone since its opening can speak to this! Thanks!
Unbelievable how many cars are driving around like this today. Are you lazy or incompetent?
From your experiences at the front range mountains yesterday, are any of you expecting new terrain to open for next week?
(Echo doesn’t count, and the vibes are still better) #1 90% of the daily visitors are CU students from Cali, Texas, or Florida. #2 Those MFs cannot drive in the snow and end up causing crazy wrecks/ blockages as they can’t drive in the snow. #3 you have a 75% chance of getting hit by some douchbag kid who doesn’t know how to slow or stop on their skis or board. #4 it’s the size of a shitty east coast or Midwest “mountain” #5 it’s almost always crazy windy, Icy, and cold for no reason. #6 the bar is tiny and full of boulder bros trying to argue/ fight people. #7 parking sucks when it’s busy #8 alterra ruined this mountain for the locals
#1 POSITIVE POINT! The park is generally rad, but Woodward doesn’t miss no matter the spot. We love you park crew ❤️
Let’s argue, I’m stoked to watch the anger behind this.
Lap days, get up before the storm, meet some rad people, and make the most of your pass!
We’re a group of fellow pow’ls who’ve locked in a ski share for the season (Nov 15 - May 15), and we have room for Mon-Fri, weekday shredders.
Currently, we have one weekday member, and the rest of us hit the weekends. This doesn’t mean you can’t party rock on the weekends—it just means you have priority for a bed on weekdays as part of the lease. (I ski weekends, but I’ll be there some weekdays as long as it works for everyone.)
The Deets:
The condo is a well-stocked 2 bedroom / 1 bath in Wildernest (Silverthorne). Cost is around $380/month, with a total financial commitment of $2,290 for the season plus a $560 refundable security deposit. Sorry but we can’t accommodate dogs.
About Us:
We’re a crew of young-ish professionals from the front range. We’re not a big party house, but we keep it gnarly, always knowing tomorrow we ride! We’ve found some awesome ski share friends over the years, so if this sounds like your scene, welcome to the crew! I hope everyone has a deep, hucktastic season!
If you’re interested, shoot me a DM.
Got there around 2. Some really good side hits on the two upper runs, soft snow, and the crowds basically vanished at 3.
Does anyone know if the snowboarder that fell off the lift today at Eldora is alright? Looked pretty bad
Today
I live in Co springs. What do yall think roads will be like on the way to keystone tomorrow morning? Sketch? Take 24 or 70? I feel like 70 might be plowed while 24 could be worse off. Any thoughts?
And why?
Hey guys!
Big thanks to everyone who jumped in to help with our call for winter ride leaders! Tons of you volunteered to coordinate rides this season.
If you’re in Denver and want to meet some new friends to hit the slopes, check out KAYV. With 2,000+ guys in the community, there’s way more to do than just take on the trails. ⛷️🏂
For people who skied/boarded Steamboat last year after the new Gondola & Mahogany Ridge opened up, how different of a mountain does it feel? Do you feel like its a better experience, particularly for advanced skiers who might have gotten bored before?
I’m new to Colorado and from Texas so very new to snowy weather. I just bought snow tires and will soon be learning to snowboard and such. My question revolves around safety when driving in the snow. I am supposed to drive from Boulder to Denver to visit a friend today but I saw that there is 6”-7” of snow that is expected in the next 24 hours. My question is if it is safe to drive during this type of weather? What are signs that I should not be driving due to snow? I expect it’ll be a lot different when I start snowboarding.
Edit: Thanks for the advice y’all! I survived my first snow trip :D
My name is Peter. I’m from Boulder, driving up early to get at least a few runs in. Coming back some time after 1 probably. Looking to meet new people! DM me or reply if you are also from Boulder and maybe we can carpool. I’ll be leaving Boulder around 6:30-7 probably.
Just wanted to know before I planned my day tomorrow. Eldora was good, but I want to hit some bowls.
Genuine question - why so few trails are open consider CO has been getting lot of snow recently? Looking at the snow report on Copper's website, there are 50" snow fall this season and the base is 23". I am sure they want to open more trails, but I am curious what is stopping them?
Got the loaders out moving snow right now.
3rd season with Ikon but never been an early season skier, however I got the itch bad this year (could use some New Moon in my life too..). Is it worth it at all to go up to Eldora on Monday? What about Copper or WP? Thanks for your advice!
