Please Note:
Before posting a question, please take a time to read our Wiki, it includes our FAQ, our modding tutorial, the subreddit rules, and some common recommended mods.
Regarding The Wiki:
/r/oblivion strives, in part, to be a community where users can learn how to best enjoy their game. Our wiki should be a resource that every one of our users can go to when they need help, for bugs, or mods, or anything about Oblivion. At the moment it is sorely lacking, and we'd like to remedy that.
If you want to help us out, please send us a message so we can add you as a contributor! If we see you commenting thoughtfully, we'll probably send you a message first, but unfortunately we don't see everyone. Being a contributor even has a few special perks, but they're a secret for the moment. Again, this is a resource the entire community should be able to learn from, and we really need your help.
Thanks.

Regarding Bugs:
Quite often on this sub we get users who ask for help for bugs, or with mods, that have been solved before. To reduce this clutter, we have a link search filter. To save everyone some time, try searching for bugs that might be similar to any you are having. Remember to add keywords if your problem is a specific one.

Steam version of Oblivion. Running the three Unofficial Oblivion Patches (base game, Shivering Isles, and the DLC).
The game defaults to setting the sliders for a medium-quality graphics card from 2008. However, I have a fancy-schmancy modern video card. So I cranked up all the sliders for things like tree fade distance, grass fade distance, actor fade distance, and so on.
Every time I play, the game resets those sliders back to their default position. So every time I play, I have to re-adjust those sliders back to where I want them. The options screen does not save state for these sliders. (It saves state for every other setting, it seems. Just not these specific sliders.)
Is there any way to have the game actually save these slider postitions?
I personally cannot wait for this mod! It looks incredible
is it just spam "jump"?
Going to play a Breton battle mage that uses equal parts melee and magic. Stats I'm going to focus on first are Strength, Endurance, and Intelligence (with willpower following after that). My specialization will be Combat and favored attributes will be Strength and Endurance.
I'm torn between the Warrior and the Mage. The warrior will help with the Bretons very low Endurance and I'll get more HP per level up and I'll be better at dealing melee damage and be able to carry a little bit more. While The Mage offers a +50 Magicka bonus and Magicka seems hard to boost in this game at least you can't get a +50 sigil stone until lv 17 I think. I'm leaning more toward the Warrior, what do you think?
(I'm not planning on doing perfect efficient leveling or using glitches/exploits.)
Edit: going to use a leveling overhaul mod and I plan on stopping leveling around 20-25
He may wait there forever for his Champion to return ðŸ˜
First playthrough of Oblivion and I just need to know who thought this was a good quest? Who thought this was a fun quest?
What game designer decided that teeny tiny white things on a snowy ground was the way to go?
Was this the same person who gave us the crimson nirnroot quest in Skyrim?
Title, I wanted to play on my ps3 but it just doesn't load saves, not even old saves, even after just starting the game, I got it to load once or twice I think (on the tutorial) but never again, it just stays at 0%.
any help?
2 past (almost 100%) runs were basically me ending up with a heavy sword and spells, I like action combat so a stealth archer won't really work.
also I'd like to use some face mods to get rid of the potato faces, to give the game a fresh feel, but I don't mind the mechanics in general, apart from the level scaling, ig I'll try minmaxing for once.
i did a few short reruns but got kinda bored. but it was a while ago, maybe I'll stick to it this time.
Well, i already delivered the ashes of Hindaril to Melissande, and she said i had to come back 24 hours after. And i did, so when i get into her house, she starts to attack me. How to solve it and finally get the potion?
Greetings, fellow Oblivion players ... Just for context, i have been meticulously playing the game with caution for about 4 months now , not leaving items laying around in the world, keeping a total of less 10 different game saves, successfully fixed the A-Bomb glitch about two months ago - basically anything i could have done to just make good game progress ... PS3 GOTY Retail version on PS3 Slim well-maintained & SSD 960 GB, on Official Firmware ...
Currently finishing Shivering Isles progress, just revisiting some dungeons to hopefully find the last few remaining Amber matrices ... Unfortunately earlier today i started having issues saving game progress - game loads up fine but refuses to save & freezes the console totally ... This happens to both my latest saves (with two hours playing apart), so something tells me that maybe an item i picked up lately might cause the game to refuse to save :( ... Even tried deleting game installation file & options file, made no difference - console still refuses to save & stalls :( ... Autosave is only enabled on Rest & even tried enabling it on Wait - same result, the console froze without saving :(
In any case, something tells me i might not be able to finish the game on PS3 side ... Does anybody know of any tool that can convert the Oblivion file specifically to PC version? I have been searching for quite a while and some suggest either just giving the SYSDATA an .ess extension - after decrypting the PS3 files - while others say to use a save converter for Skyrim ...
Any replies kindly appreciated in advance & TKU for your time reading my post :)
