First play through and one random quest (Diabella) suddenly sped everything up, what to do?

So background so first play through as a mage elf. I spent the first 10 hours doing nothing. I went the wrong direction and just went through killing bandits and clearing dungeons. Ditched some (like Haemars Shame master vampire since I was too weak). My style was just snipe with bow, then just flame+frost to kite and burn them down. When I got the first the zombie and split soul spells I did that.

Now the first issue was Elemental Blast (the projectile fire/lighting that also does massive AoE). Dual casting it made most fights boring. I went online and it seems that it’s a “creation club” spell so it’s OP. At this point I ditch my wandering since I got bored and decide to do the main quest.

Flash forward 5 hours of pickpocketing and robbing homes. This is also when my level starts jumping, I guess all the non-magic skills just kept increasing.

Now here’s the big recent thing. I was in Dragonreach. I go into a tavern and do some random drinking contest. Then I wake up in a tempo half way across the map. This is also by the Dwemer ruins and I buy from the wizard.

All the spells shoot my power level through the roof. My useless raise zombie is now revenant and it’s actually useful. The flame and frost artonach can solo fights as I run away. The fire on auto kites and also snipes enemies faraway.

Random utility spells like Muffle shoot my illusion skills up and I also level up like crazy. Same to a lesser extent for Detect Life. So I get like 3 levels in under an hour.

Now as I do my quest I think I might be too over leveled for the beginner stuff? A recent quest needed to raid some bandit camp. I killed one and revived it use Revenant. I try to do my usual sneaking, now with Detect Life to ambush them. Turns out the Revenant went in by himself and killed everyone while I wasted my time.

The play style is getting bogged down. I have some mixture of Clairvoyance and some other utility stuff. I start my fights with a summon, then Soul Trap, and then use some damage spell. Then as the fight ends I reanimate and soul split it.

Suddenly the game got more micromanage-y and boring.

Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew on Skyrim

Saw Adam Corolla doing live standup tonight. He does a segment where he asks people to write one word on a card and he will discuss it. I wrote SKYRIM. Dr. Drew joined him on stage to read the cards.

Drew picks mine and says "Skyrim". Adam looks around and says "A mile-high ass job?".

Got some good laughs. Later on I met him and explained it was a video game. He told me he's "never played a fucking video game ever."

Funny guy. Good show.

"Canon" Ending

I've completed the game through on a lightly modded playthrough, but I pretty much rushed it. So, I'm currently going through on a completely vanilla and actually take my time. Also, I'm going ask this like the dragons, Alduin, and the Dragonborn aren't a part of this just for hypothetical purposes. Anyways, I was wondering, if the game had actual "canon" endings on either side and effected the state of Tamriel as a whole, and was seen in the next game, which side would you pick or should I say would actually make more sense in a more realistic view. I usually pick Imperial no matter what race I pick to play as. Let me explain.

While, yes, Skyrim should be its own free independent region/provence, I don't think Ulfric would really be able to rule Skyrim effectively. He's fighting a war with a small militia compared to the organized, and strategically superior Imperial military, granted he was part of the Imperial military at one point. (He's unknowingly a false ruler that was technically planted by the Thalmor so the Empire was distracted.) Him and his citizens literally rule Windhelm with ostracization and racism to anyone that's not a Nord, more specifically towards the Elves and will without a doubt do the same to the rest of Skyrim. Inevitably, he'll completely cause the fall of Skyrim either way.

Now why I choose the Empire. They are fighting on 2 fronts, even after the White Gold Concordat they still plan to push back the Aldmeri Dominion, take back Cyrodil, and send the Thalmor back to where they came from. While Tullius is a egotistical dick head and a control freak, he does know what's better for Skyrim in the long run. He knows the best bet to push the Thalmor back and eventually defeat the Aldmeri Dominion, is to set up a strong foothold in Skyrim, improve the economy, living conditions for the citizens, and in the end actually be able to increase the number of military personnel, possibly gain favor with the mages college, and bulster their defenses and offensive abilities to allow for a significant better chance of pushing the Aldmeri Dominion back.

Also, the blades while they are a part of... well once we're a part of the Empire, I'm not going to include them, just because they kind of did nothing with them in the game, which I wish they did. Like learning how they've became pretty much a splinter group in Skyrim consisting of Delphine and Esbern instead of elite guards of the Septim Emperors who in the end just wanted to kill dragons for shits and gigs and used the excuse of serving the dragonborn to justify their desires.

Anyone else's opinions are welcome, especially if you know more about the lore than I do, I don't have extensive knowledge on the entire lore of Elder Scrolls. 👍

LGBTQ+ mods? Xbox

Hi! Pretty self explanatory, looking for some more queer/gender queer badassery. Share some of your faves and I will let you know my thoughts (eventually lol). I wish I was more tech savvy but unfortunately I’m limited to what I can access from my worn down Xbox One. Honestly? Just give me anything that makes the game more diverse. More rich in the different cultures of Tamriel. Any advice is welcome and appreciated! 💚🐉

Doing BLANK in Skyrim is fun as hell. Insert whatever tickles your fancy in place of blank.

I feel like mine is going to be obvious and probably enjoyed by many… but Fus Ro Dah enemies from heights is fun as hell. I’m excited to see what others get pumped about.

Zahkriisos has risen my blood pressure to unimaginable heights

Okay so I just started playing Skyrim recently after buying it a couple years back after I played all the fallout games and I’m really getting into it, which I’m excited about and even more excited so I can mod the shit out of it. But my god the Zahkriisos boss fight, it’s been a long time since I’ve been that pissed off by a video game and I want to know if it’s just me that had that much difficulty at it or what because I had to lower down the game difficulty all the way to beat him because no matter what I’m either getting killed with 1 hit or 2 and I have dedicated nothing to archery so I just have to run at him and then run away over and over again. Maybe it’s just me, maybe it’s because I’m still new, but my god my jaw hurts from gritting my teeth together.

I take great umbrage with the fact that the executioner's hood counts as armor, but doesn't say so.

Really fucked my whole aesthetic up.

Is this by pure chance or is it some sort of irony that Ulfric happened to have an “ace of cowardice” on him?

Does anyone else get ticked off by npcs getting in the way and/or pushing you through a dungeon?

I just finished the side quest A Scroll for Anska. She was so flipping annoying through the whole dungeon that right after I got the notification that the quest had completed I killed her. So. friggin. annoying.

Ash Piles

Question: Do ash piles despawn? How long does it take for them to despawn?

Context: I'm doing the daedric quest for Barbas & Clavicus Vile, and while I was cleaning out the dungeon, one of the vampires started resurrecting a bunch of the dead bodies littering that last section of the cave. Although the bodies of the vampires that were resurrected went away, the ash piles of two other corpses (a bandit and an Imperial) have not gone away.

So far, I've waited an accumulated two weeks in-game, and they're still there - are they going to be stuck there?

I played Skyrim on and off since 2011, I reached the mid levels with 4 characters and today I learned how items that lay around shops disappear from after you buy them.

First, I noticed that the fire salts bowl on the White Phial's shelf was missing after I bought it from the young shopkeeper. I tested again by buying a potion, and again by placing a garlic from the floor onto the counter then purchasing it.

What a nice feature for a game like Skyrim to have! Was it part of the game since day 1?

Crazy Dragon Death

I was level 23 traveling between rorikstead and whiterun when a dragon appeared. The dragon was flying around full health but when it landed it just died. My theory is it landed on some human bones (the bones in dungeons that where you run into them they sometimes damage you) at the right angle that it killed it somehow. Has that happened to anybody else?

What’s your favorite bit of Skyrim lore?

I’ve gotten really interested in the lore of the game, but I’m having a hard time finding stuff beyond the surface level lore. What are some interesting/obscure things to look into or helpful websites to get me started?
