I love the immersion of removing the ambient light and fog that sits in the ayleid ruins, forts, and dungeons, and make is to they're only lit by actual sources. However, now I'm wondering how to balance it from a quality-of-life perspective. Places with bandits have hardly any sources other than they torches they sometimes carry (Dungeon Actors have Torches) and a couple candles scattered around, so they are essentially standing around in pitch dark.
Are there any mods out there that add more light sources to dungeons, especially those occupied?
I decided to reinstall Oblivion after not playing since 2008. I don't want to run many mods and prefer not to use 3rd party executables where I can avoid them. After a quick read of UESP, it seems the load order for Oblivion is managed by the date modified timestamp of the .esp files. Here is a quick script you can create on your desktop to update the timestamp of esp files. Thought I would share this to help others in the future:
1 - Create input.txt. For example I used this for the UOP inside input.txt (basically put in all the esp files names):

3 - Put the bat and txt file in your Data directory and run it. I did a clean install of Oblivion and added UOP. I was getting CTD as expected without using a tool such as LOOT. After running the bat file with that input.txt the game loaded fine.
I tried the mod and it was alright but it messed with my camera and I didnt feel like relearning the combat system, but I really like the ability to throw my weapon. I searched for a standalone mod and found "Throw any weapon" but its no where near as good as in deadly reflex, it travels slow and barely covers any distance. I heard Unneccessary Violence has a similar feature but I dont want to change vanilla combat If possible. Is there a way to only use the throwing feature and disable the Rest of the mod?
This is driving me crazy! I'm trying to add some NPCs to a cell but the render window appears to be completely broken for me.
When I drag/drop an item to the Render window, the mouse icon does change, but when I release it, the window remains empty. I tried fiddling with the properties but that had no effect.

The Render window always looks like that literally no matter what I do. I tried Googling but wasn't able to find any answers to this specific problem.
Does anybody know how to fix this and get that Render window to actually work?
I’ve been trying to find info on this online but I’ve been having some difficulty, the mod works great however I’m a little confused as to how we are supposed as to how we are supposed to satisfy their needs.
They do sometimes eat if you don’t give them any food as when you walk into any food selling merchants they’ll purchase something, but whenever I go into dialogue with them it’ll say they’re hungry, thirsty and/or sleepy and I’m not entirely sure how to help them.
At first it wasn’t really a problem for me because I thought it didn’t really have any big impacts but one of the people who I was travelling with (and I’m pretty sure I had medium to high disposition with her) started becoming mean to my character, and lo and behold the character’s disposition towards my character was at 25. So I’m not really sure if this was because I hadn’t been catering to their needs, but to be very fair it might also be because I accidentally hit my followers in combat.
So, basically TL;DR how do I go about satisfying the followers’ basic needs? Any info would be great as I don’t want my character to be some cruel manager who doesn’t let her teammates take a break :(
I have an idea for a mod but have no idea where to begin. I'm somewhat knowledgeable on the construction set (aside from scripting, that I have absolutely 0 idea) and I'm just not sure how to go about making this mod I'm working on.
In brief, what I want is to overhaul the bandit levelling system somewhat by dividing the faction up into ranks, with each rank being a different level off set from the player, with ringleaders for example being a lot higher level then the player, but naturally have the best levelled loot on them, giving them a risk/reward incentive for killing them. With the lower ranks, I want them to have different items, fighting styles and level caps. For example, basic bandits will cap equipment at fur/leather, whereas Bandit Thugs (the next proposed rank up), will cap at chainmail. In an ideal world, I'd like the bandit races to be randomized as well, so bandit ringleaders are not always Dunmer or Redguards for example, but this is low priority.
I'd like to extend the idea to Marauders, Necromancers and Conjurers as well. Vampires already have this class system/difference in place which would leave them untouched.
For those who don't know, Skyrim has a mod called Unique Uniques that makes unique items look the part by giving them new and unique models and textures. So I got to wondering if there's something like it for Oblivion?
I downloaded DMC stylish (an animation overhaul) and I didnt like it. So I deleted the animations which took a while, except for a few that I didnt mind keeping. Then I decided i'll just revert to vanilla so I can reinstall the mods with mo2, and I followed a guide for just that on UESP. So I didnt delete and install the game anew, I basically copied the files that make the base Game into a new folder and renamed that to "Data" (the other to "Olddata". It works fine expect I still have this different Idle animation for one handed weapons in my inventory. Thats the only one that is affected and I dont know how because "meshes" (where all the mod files went) Isnt even a folder right now, its "meshes.bsa" and Im assuming its because I havent even downloaded a mod that adds or changes anything in meshes (at which point it would probably turn into a folder). How do I get rid of those last shreds of the mod?
The Gauntlets of the Crusader seem to be stuck in the Chapel walls making it impossible to access them and continue the KOTN dlc
Almost a year ago I decided to mod Oblivon. I spent hours doing so and was happy with the result. However, one day, after a few months of playing my Oblivon, the launcher completely stopped working, it wasn't crashing but simply wouldn't load anything. I was able to diagnose that a specific file from the base Oblivon ENB series was causing this (d3d9.dll file). I tried everything I could such as uninstalling other mods, using the injector version of the ENB, trying to revert my driver versions, using different version of the base ENB series, and I specifically followed the download instructions for the specific ENB (NAO-ENB on vortex). I've asked on reddit multiple times and really need help with this issue and it's driving me insane.
Basically, for many years I have tried to build the ultimate Oblivion mod list, I was always disappointed that there was nothing I could do to make the cities bigger and better short of Better Cities, since it just felt pretty unrealistic at the time... Now however, it is fully voiced, and I want to consider building an entire mod list around it + Unique landscapes. However, I know Oblivion is old as fuck, so I refer you back to my question... can the above be done?

Hi guys, I am using the mods from PTNB's Through The Valleys modding guide. I have put my mod list (in load order) below.
I wanted to ask, if I were to install Kvatch Rebuilt, where would I put it in the load order for it to work? And regarding quest mods in general, where would I place them in the load order? Would they be directly below the unofficial patches and above everything else?
Also, are quest mods like Kvatch Rebuilt advisable to pair with Through the Valleys, which is ostensibly set up as a 'Vanilla-Plus' experience?
im using VMM and Wryebash, though i haven't made any changes in WB, yet. I reinstalled Oblivion and deleted my mod profiles on nmm just to make sure im starting fresh. I also deleted all of the created folders and files to ensure fresh files were generated after starting over. i kept all of my mods that were downloaded just to avoid downloading all over again. I'm fairly new to modding.
I did get the game to play with mods once before, but then i added a few more and now the game won't move passed new game. i decided to erase my previous save files while refreshing everything as i havent progressed that far.
Please help. if there is any more information that i should share, please advise me.

I already tried on Nexusmod but I didn't find any with those specifications, or I didn't find any
I'm currently playing Oblivion A Painted World modlist on a fresh Oblivion and up-to-date APW modlist on Wabbajack. So, I had this issue before using Wabbajack modlist but it just got to the point where I'm fed up with it and I want to ask for advice/help on a potential fix. I am having visual/mesh issues with what I think is has something to do with Oblivion Grass Overhaul or Jungle for Everyone or Tree Overhaul and maybe Better Dungeons?. (or maybe it isn't any of these )
In stead of Better Dungeons or any of the Flora mods that come with APW mod pack, I get this, it also shows up in the I.C Layawiin and mainly Dungeons. The guys over on the APW discord don't seem to have this problem and have no clue as to what it might be. I am not using any additional flora retextures and such. Has anybody ever run into this issue and knows a solution to my frustrating botanical conundrum?

Is there a way to change an exterior door to lead to a different interior cell than the one it currently leads to?
Example: I want to press the door of the house in Chorral (Arborwatch) and enter the home in Bruma.
Reason: I like the city of Chorral but not the house and I like the home in Bruma but not the city :D

It’s been a few years since I last did an Oblivion playthrough, and now I’m planning to do a full run, including Shivering Isles, using a Wabbajack modlist. I’m considering either Heartland Redux or Last Seed. Which one do you recommend, and why? I won’t be playing both, at least not back-to-back. Thanks in advance.
I downloaded Painted World from Wabbajack, but it is unplayable, it stutters when panning the camera to left and right. And it is extremeky choppy with low fps. Textures pop in and out when loading into new areas too
Tested the mod on a new machine and an older machine both they share the problem. So I can't really recommend anyone taking Painted world over Heartland.
Do either of the kvatch mods work with maskars overhaul or cause bugs and the game to crash? And if not which one works best? Just curious so I know if to get one and which one 👍🏼
So ages ago I disabled one drive but apparently I didn't decouple it correctly. Last night I attempted to decouple it it fully and moved everything from that drive. However now my oblivion won't save correctly
It used to be saved to user/onedrive/documents/mygames/oblivion.
I wanted it to go to documents/my games/oblivion
When I uninstall Ed and reinstalled the game I thought it worked though it created the folder on my g drive/my games/oblivion. But only the oblivion.ini
Everything else is being saved to appdata/local/oblivion/mygames/oblivion
Is there anyway I can force the game to save to a desired location
My cloud saving seems to not work either which may be a part of the issue but I'm not sure at this point
Can someone please help fix this
edit: So ive just got home and it seems that restarting my pc has casued my saves to appear again in: C:\Users\username\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves
i want to try and move this to be in either
C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves or g:My Games\Oblivion\Saves
is there away i can do this?

I just recently picked up the Wabbajack list 'A Painted World' which uses a variety of leveling and world overhauls like MOO and OOO with a lot of fine tuning and patches.
While I like the idea a lot - I'm struggling to level in the early game. Since using skills doesn't level, it seems that most likely quests (along with reading and exploring new locations) is the only way to gain XP.
I'm trying to do some quests, but I can't even kill a single scamp yet.
What are some good early-game low-to-no combat things I can do to level up? Is it divided up by region and some areas are easier than others?
EDIT: Apparently the Gold Horse Courior gives good XP and no combat.
I looked around and found some spells to summon horses, but i put money on the horse i got AND, for the first time in my oblivion career, i got the horse armor, so im pretty attached to it.
I would love to be abke to summon it or at least a marker to tell me its location.
Sometimes i unmount the horse and then i go look for the wayshrines for example and then its a long time to find it.

So I've been wanting to get back into Oblivion, and I really wanna try a Kvatch mod but I'm not sure which is most recommended in this day and age. I know of "Kvatch Rebuilt", "Kvatch Rising", "Kvatch Aftermath", and "Kvatch Returned". Are any of these recommended over the other? Is there any major ones I'm missing that might be better? Any recommendations would be great.
Love to have the weapons on my back, but when I do, I can no longer do the 360 walk which sucks. Anyone know anyway I'd go about making this work? (Sheath Swap uses it's own skeleton when swapping so something to do with that I suppose?)
Ran into an odd CTD. I'm finishing the first quest for the Dark Brotherhood, talk to the door, and then CTD. I tried the Activate command in the console, nothing. I try doing the same on the well, nothing. Oddly enough, "coc CheydinhalSanctuary" worked fine and I was able to speak to Ocheeva. Then I turn around and suddenly CTD. I checked LOOT, nothing. Used TES4Edit, nothing.
Does anyone have a clue as to what's going on?

I'm not talking big folders (500 mb), but with ~2,000 files and it's taking my computer 10 hours to transfer that. That seems absurd to me, but read it's a fairly common thing with Windows when transferring tons of small files. Any way to get around that?
