Be Respectful. This is one of the most important rules. Possibly the most important. We have worked hard to cultivate a positive environment here and it takes a community effort. No harassment or insulting people. There are a lot of mods that do similar things and people have preferences...debating those preferences is fine, insulting someone based on their choices is not.
No Piracy. If you submit a link to or explain how to obtain pirated material you will be banned. If you discuss piracy or seek help in modding a pirated game you will be banned. This is not debatable.
NSFW Content There are a wide variety of body meshes and armors that are NSFW. Posting about and discussing the use of these is fine. Sexual content is not (mods/galleries/screenshots that involve sexual acts). There is a dedicated forum for this type of modding over at LoversLab. Take it over there.
Memes, gameplay stories and screenshots go in /r/oblivion. This is a sub centred around the discussion of modding and creating mods. Memes, gameplay stories and screenshots do not contribute to this whatsoever and we respectfully ask that you keep them off of this sub. It is safe to assume that most of the people subbed here are also subbed at /r/oblivion and will see your post over there.
Help. If you ask for help and are helped by another user. Say "thank you" and let them know if your problems/issue/question was solved or answered.

Hey there, literally as per the title - played HEAPS of oblivion back in the day and even modded it a fair bit, but now looking at getting back into the game and looking for your go-to's & must-have's.
I am especially looking for stuff like Frostfall/Ashfall that adds in basic needs and potentially camping/survival-esque stuff, stuff like skyrim's Live Another Life/alternate start mods, mods that add in new weapons/armors/magic and potentially those into levelled lists so they are in the world. Would also love recommendations for a good backpack mod & maybe something that adds in extra bountyhunting/monsterhunting etc quests like the noticeboard mod from skyrim (not sure how well that would work without that radiant-quest set-up, but who knows?).
Thanks heaps to you guys in advance for any recommendations you have!
I want to play Oblivion for the first time but a lot of the menus and stuff are super outdated and I want to mod it for bug fixes and stability as well. Is there a good guide I should start with or a few essentials I can just throw into Vortex for a mostly vanilla playthrough?
If I use a modlist like Last Seed and apply it to Nehrim, stripping out the mods that are specific to Oblivion’s world, will that cause problems?
Is it possible to tell which mods will work with Nehrim?
I just want to become ridicolously broken and powerful just like in Skyrim, but i couldn't find anything on nexus nor in the console commands. Any idea?
one of the bigger issues on the oblivion nexus is people set ask permissions but havent been online for like 5-10-15 years - or all the way back to 2006. mailing doesnt do much if any good.
now. i never really pushed this because a lot of the newer bethesda nexus games arent crippled by this ruling. new vegas, skyrim, starfield, fallout 4, london. oblivion is a whole different ballgame
now. i realize they say ask before using an asset which is in the file. esp. textures, meshes, sounds, etc etc - i have never had a problem on other nexus games mailing people and getting permission to do and use. usually folks is happy as shit for someone to do it. so i understand all about that. but does this just mean oblivion is completely hamstrung on old mods which are seemingly abandoned
does this mean absolutely no simple bug fixes can be applied even if it is a quick drag and a data point change?
and does merging a leveled list from one mod to another break this rule as well?
exactly how far does this go?>
oh. and wtf does no low level processing mean. like really.
Im going to use rebirth+ hero of kvatch collections and im going to install each mod 1 by 1.
What is the general order of installation for mod types? I.e. overhauls > textures > etc.
Alright so I know that the elder council by Giskard edits the Temple District, but how incompatible is it?
Anyone run both at the same time?
Also I’m having issues with the Arena district, it seems to have soil blocking the entrance of the arena.
Should I just attempt a batched patch or what?
I’m running the modular better cities, but is the Full esp less janky?
Hello! I have already ask this question in the Oblivion subreddit but I didn't get any real answers (outside of "GOG is better because DRM-free") so I'm asking here : I've read from some comments (like this one : https://new.reddit.com/r/oblivion/comments/1bk5luf/comment/kvw9r5u/ ) that the steam version has the 4gb patch installed since a few months, but I can't find the answer anything else, if someone can confirm...
I've also read that the GOG version is apparently more stable, but you will not be able to install some modlist. Which version do you recommend? I will not modded the game a lot at first, but it might happen later.
Thanks for your help!
Hi guys, l'll keep this short as I can, so l've been trying to make my own personal remaster of Oblivion via modding for the past few weeks and I've made good progress and I'm happy with what I've done so far to the game, however l've hit a bit of a snag regarding a few mods that I seem to have accidentally deleted and upon searching online for them found they no longer exist or aren't available anywhere for download, I should mention I downloaded them years ago and they were stored on my PC, I had to put them in the recycling bin months ago (cleaning up my files) and forgot to remove them as an afterthought, anyway weeks passed and I eventually emptied my recycling bin and to my absolute horror I deleted the entire folder full of these specific mods probably about 20 in total but 2 specific ones I am really down about,if anyone has any way to restore this data easily and for free l'd love to hear it because I'm lost l've never ventured into file recovery in the past this is a first for me.
These mods in question are
A Skyrim style Mudcrab replacer for Oblivion - essentially mudcrabs from Skyrim
A likewise Skyrim style slaughterfish replacer for Oblivion - same only with slaughterfish
The reason this has vexed me so is because I've been trying to make my game more like Skyrim and l've made leaps and bounds in that area with much effort and now I can't even access the very things that inspired me to do this in the first place, these creatures, anyways l'm pleading anyone on here if you have these mods l'd worship the ground you walked on if you were willing to share them with me but I'm not getting my hopes up from what I understand the site hosting them was taken down some years back and I'm aware now unlikely I am to find these.
They are not on nexus or anywhere on the web as far as I can find I’ve been looking for days now with no luck whatsoever.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks guys
So here's the problem: I created some Golden Saints to patrol the exterior of Frostcrag Spire and I want to be able to hit them with friendly fire without any adverse consequences. I've already scripted them to immediately stop combat when attacked, but I still get a 40 gold bounty for assault no matter what I do.
Here's the current script:

I just added the OnLoad and SetCrimeGold parts in the hopes of resolving the bounty issue but they had no discernable effect.
Some NPC screenshots:
Does anybody know what I'm missing?
EDIT:
I can confirm that, despite what UESP says, raising Disposition to 100 while lowering Responsibility to 0 does NOT prevent the NPC from reporting the player for assault! I still incur a +40 gold bounty every time I hit one of them with Flare.
I am using Vortex and have most of the basic mods. Yes I know I could be using another mod manager, but I’m using Vortex. It’s user-friendly. I got the mod for Companion Vilja. I like everything about her, I’m not even trying to change her hair style, I just want to change the color. Going into my files and replacing files is too intimidating for me, I’m not trying to break my game. Is there really no mod or command to simply customize the appearance of an NPC, similar to how I can go into Showracemenu and edit my own character? Every mod I’ve found for editing appearance requires replacing files or using Construction Set.
Alright, so jumping back into oblivion and I’ve pretty much seen only two mods for joinable legion dealios… fort akatosh redux seems alright but it adds a bunch of gear and textures that seem out of place.
It’s not bad, but does anyone have any recommendations?
There’s another one that’s from like 2009 but is it any good?
I’m concerned about compatibility
I am refining my mod list from a number of years ago, the mod list worked reasonably well but wasn't the most stable. Last time I did all manual installs with the help of Oblivion Mod Manager for Omod files.
This time around im using MO2 and am having a problem with invisible armors and menu Icons. Any ideas on how to get Archive invalidate working (assuming that's then problem). On Skyrim MO2 doesn't have this problem.
You know how when youre in sunlight, characters faces or your drawn weapon glows with a blinding light? How do i fix that?
Im running hero of kvatch and rebirth+ collections with zero issues.
Looking to add any qol or ui enhancements that others know to be compatible.
Secondly, im also open to any other mods that are known to be compatible.
Hello everyone. I have a little problem as the title says i CTD after rebuilding my patch. If i uninstall the game it works but the face textures and other mods are not working then. If i rebuild my patch i get the crash issue. I am using VORB, MOO and LAPF und sort my load order manually with the help of a guide and with boss
this is a fresh pc with a fresh install. rebirth+ are the only mods ever installed to this pc. why am i getting file conflicts in the collection?
I’ve put in hundreds of hours into OB but have never played with mods until this morning. What do you recommend I install? Whats fun, practical, etc.?
Hey guys, kind of embarrassing & probably a no brainer but I haven’t touched my modded oblivion in years, how do I find my Load Order, I’m using Mod Organizer 2, explain in dummy if possible I’ve lost a lot of my knowledge & want to play through again
Title attempting to do so cause what i believe is a dialogue box to open asking me to confirm something but it doesn't appear where i can see it and the only thing i can do is press either esc or enter.
Just did this with a personal plugin i pressed esc until I could load the plugin and got a dialogue saying the file headers are messed up? clicked yes to fix them only to find the whole plugin was wiped!
On the whole, I like the idea of Guild Advancement and the Fighters\ Mages Guild Quests mods, my problem is with the implementation. Yes, it's good and it makes sense that your character should meet specific skill requirements before they can apply for a recommendation to the Arcane University or become the head of the Fighters Guild, but the FGQ\ MGQ mods add a lot of fluff that's just busywork more than anything (you know what I'm talking about if you've played these mods). Not to say that guild work should be easy, but it's a videogame, we're here to have fun, not do tedious chores, right? Another issue that I have with these mods is that they conflict with a few others that I'm using, and were largely abandoned by their creators (not blaming anyone, Oblivion is kind of an old game by this point, just stating a fact), so there's no hope for a proper patch.
As such, I'd like to know if there are any alternatives to these mods, something that adds misc quests and skill requirements without adding a lot of extra fluff.
I’ve been looking for ages please help
So, I've tried to search endlessly without much success so here's hoping that creating a post helps.
I've followed the guide Through the valleys from start to finish for my Steam version of the game. MO2 is set up, I've activated all my mods and plugins, checked that the libraries are forced and referenced.
I start Oblivion: "Application load error 5:0000065434."
Ok it seems to be an issue because my Steam is installed on D: and my Oblivion is installed on C: .
No problem, it seems that putting a steam.exe copy inside the oblivion folder works.
I choose Oblivion.exe but it starts the launcher, weird right? Nothing in data files.
If I try to launch the actual launcher and click play... it starts the same launcher again, then when I press play again it starts.
Now here's the problem: I start a game and open my console, obse is loaded, I try getobseversion, it says 22.10 installed (even though I should have 22.11 the latest).
Alright so obse is working, but no other mods are loaded from the virtual MO2 folder.
I open WryeBash through MO2, I see all my 95 mods. I click to open Oblivion through Wrye Bash, nada, no mods loaded other than obse.
I try using 'moshortcut://"Oblivion"' I saw on another thread about the Steam deck to skip MO2... it launches an Oblivion Launcher where every option is greyed out except Exit and Elderscrolls.com.
The gist of it is this: MO2 is not injecting the modlist or the mods into the game.
Update 1: When I run Oblivion Launcher through MO2, all my mods are in data files.
Then I press Play.
It starts Steam and it opens another launcher, this time without mods, I press play again and the game starts.
When ever i wanna download a collection in vortex its telling me i have the wrong game version and i need the 1.2.0416 but when i check in oblivion i got the 1.2.0416 version install is there any fix ?
I have a few (probably very basic) questions about how bashed patches work.
I'm using Mod Organizer 2 to install and manage PushTheWinButton's "Through The Valleys" Vanilla Plus modlist. All the mods are now instaleld and I've set up Wrye Bash to be launched from MO2. The following bits are what are confusing me:
Sorry if these are serious n00b questions, but I can't find straight answers anywhere and most of what I can find is in the Skyrim modding space so not sure how or if it applies to Oblivion. Also, Mod Organizer 2 appears, as far as I can tell, to be completely void of any meaningful documentation at all, and a lot of the information I can find about Wrye Bash is either really old, or related to how it works with some other mod manager.
I would much appreciate any answers anyone can give to any or all of the above questions. Thanks!
Is anyone else getting Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml? Is OBSE not safe?
