I just discorved arena is on steam now! Is it better then the UESP one? I know UESP have bug fixes and stuff add but there is no info about the steam one? I am looking to come back to the gem of a game and I would like to know if the steam version is better same or worse. thx!
How can i optimize the game. i did one thing which is lowering the details bar. it did help actually. but when i'm in a doungen or something like this my game stutters a lot.
I’m trying to beat all of the Elder Scrolls game and am working backwards. I am almost done with Daggerfall so I was just wondering if there were ways to enhance the vanilla experience
I’m at Dagoth Ur. Level 18 Nord Knight, full ebony armour ebony dai-katana. 2 “heal true” bracers, a couple of marks/crystals with offensive spells, resist fire potions, invisibility potions, -5 AR accessories, etc. All that to say, I am well prepared. I know that I could beat this dungeon with a few attempts and a little patience. But I’m so sick to death of these high level enemies knocking out all of my health in a few hits. I’m bored of the same dungeon layouts. I’m so close to the end, yet I’m struggling to get the motivation to want to finish the game. Is it worth pushing through to the end?
I know its possible but mid game I find monk to be too squishy, maybe enchantments would help
Im trying healer, thinking I can rush strength to 100 since its pretty easy to make great heal spells early for fairly cheap (manawise) and... dude the ghouls are kicking my ass in stonekeep, maybe its not possible with healer, or maybe Im not playing intelligently.
Maybe barbarian? Faster rest/heal rate and super high health
What do you guys think would be a good class for unarmed? is it possible to increase an attribute over 100 with spells?
still working through my first full playthrough of arena, really been enjoying it but have slowed down a ton as the past couple of dungeons have very suddenly started kicking my ass. for context, i am currently in murkwood, so not far from the end to the best of my understanding
i'm playing a lvl 17 dunmer bard. it feels like no matter how prepared i try to be, enemies like hell hounds, stone golems, fire daemons, etc. still just mutilate me from full health to none in two seconds flat. that's why i try and keep healing potions stocked aplenty but even those i end up running through before the dungeon's over, and my magicka just doesn't feel particularly full enough to be able to rely on healing spells either, even with my +10 INT shield. i also feel like i really should have weapons stronger than silver by now, with the crazy number of enemies i've been running into that can't be touched by anything weaker than mithril (i think?). all that combined with a lack of safe places to rest and dungeons that feel like they're getting progressively longer and longer is resulting in what feels like a massive difficulty spike and discouragement from getting to the end of the game.
any tips? reliable ways to be less susceptible to magic-wielding enemies, or better ways to find stronger weapons? would love to be able to finish this game, especially as i plan on doing a replay of the rest of the series in order once i finish this one which i'm looking forward to :)
Yo! I've only discovered Skyrim in July, and immediately fell in love with the ES universe.
I decided to play them all, starting with Arena. I have a few questions;
What race should I pick/How important is it? I want to be a knight. I don't discriminate, I love all races.
I did a couple trial playthrough. I usually clear the whole 1st dungeon to Level up a bit before starting (gets me to ~level 4), but then I immediately die when trying to clear Stonekeep. What are reliable ways to level up? I tried finding random dungeons but it's not easy to navigate on that map lmao
As per the title. Went into a store in Summerset Isle and felt like everything was much more expensive to buy / repair, and much cheaper to sell. Do some store merchants rip you off?
Its something that could revive arena and make it popular like daggerfall unity
Hey Reddit,
I just started The Elder Scrolls Chapter One Arena and as you can tell from the title, I have an idea of how I want to roleplay this game. I am thinking Altair Mixed with Goku. I was inspired to do this when listening to Jwarl speak on the ability to climb in these early Elder Scrolls games. He was saying he stole from a shop then scaled the rooftops to get away or something like that.
I plan on carrying this Character across the entire series since I own all of them. I want to add a third personality inspired from someone in real life history, but I am not sure who. I want it to be someone I consider when I talk to the NPCs I come across in my travels around Tamriel. The picture provided is my first attempt at this. What do you think Reddit?

The UESP says you can get it more than once, and I've seen multiple posts online of people saying they've done that. However, I haven't seen an answer to whether you can get the quest for it again right after getting the artifact, or if you need to do another artifact quest first before you can get the quest for it again.
Does anyone know if you need to do that? I just got it in the Summerset Isles and am now in Valenwood (since I read that you might need to go to a different province to get the quest for it, and that's where I have to go next for the main quest) asking an NPC for rumors to try to get the quest again. I've gotten quests for several other artifacts from this NPC multiple times (loading to before I talked to her if she gives me another artifact quest), but haven't gotten the quest for the Oghma Infinium once. I also know that you can get the quest for it in Valenwood, since that's where I got the quest my first time playing the game a couple years ago (this time, I first got the quest for it in Hammerfell).
I just want to know whether I'm wasting my time by trying to get the quest again right away, and if I should get another artifact first, or if I've just been unlucky and you can get it again right away.
Update: I managed to get the rumor for it. I had originally been loading after each time I got a rumor for another artifact because I assumed you could only get one quest at a time, but I decided to try continuing to ask for rumors, and got rumors for other artifact quests. Eventually, I ended up getting the rumor for the Oghma Infinium.
So I'm on the screen that tells me my strength intelligence all that stuff but apparently I can't get out of it until I use all my bonus points but I don't know how to assign bonus points so I'm just kind of stuck here. please help...
So after arriving in the starting town and gearing up, I went into the wilderness, to explore a bit, arrive at a farmhouse, break in, and find myself in a little min-dungeon. There are three floors, and little treasure piles on each flore, only...ever time I go between floors the treasure piles respawn--Along with the monsters, but with a few healing pots and sleeping on raised platforms I'm able to stay here virtually indefinitely. The gold deposits are fairly low, but there's a seemingly high chance of getting rings, bracelets, torcs and the like, so within an hour I've got 2 ebony equipment pieces and 30,000 gold to buy a third one. Feel like in a couple more hours I'll be fully decked in Ebony Gear and ready to Farm Oghma Infinitums and...
...did I make this too easy for myself, or is this always an option?
Sorry for the stupid question but I'm genuinely puzzled
in the crypt of hearts, I collected the sixth piece of the staff and tried to rush out of the area as fast as i possibly could. I cast levitate and tried to move to the next room, and almost immediately all of my magic ended up being drained by ghosts, literally 0% left in the tank, while I was also being pelted by magic attacks from stone golems on all sides. for some reason i decided to save while i was still alive, and then quickly died not even 5 seconds later. now, my save file has me, levitating, magicless, low health, potionless (i already used them all in the rest of the dungeon), next to a wall with no type of cover from the stone golem right behind me or the stone golem right off to my left. the only defense i can think of is my litany of magic items, though all of my healing ones are currently uncharged, and all of my offensive ones i've tried can't kill the stone golems fast enough before i die myself. even the beam from my saber of life steal travels too slow to regain me some hp before the golems hit first. i don't know why i did this to myself
can anyone think of any way i could get myself out of this disaster? I'm new to Arena and I really, REALLY don't wanna give up on this save, i'm pretty damn close to the end and i was really hoping to segue this playthrough into a replay of daggerfall (and then morrowind, and then oblivion, and then skyrim). any gameplay exploits i can use in this situation, any way to activate cheats, anything i can do at all whether legitimate or not i will accept. alternatively i can keep trial-and-erroring it until the stone golems roll bad enough to let me take some of their health for myself, but i want to do that almost as little as i want to give up entirely. any ideas?
Just made it out of the prison
I managed to get Auriels shield quest at a pretty low lvl. It was doing great and its a daedric item but I started to feel that without the magic itens that buff defense it was pretty useless. It is worth to carry it?? Im a lvl13 barbarian and I cant sell the shield to a store owner. What should I do then? Just drop it??
So I just took the first piece of the staff in Arena, and now I have to go out of Fang Lair. As if that wasn't already though enough in itself apparently I just can't go ahead in the mine A, like very near the exit, following the beeline to the exit you find in the wiki, and then there's something killing me. I assume there's like a spider blocking my path but it shouldn't be down there, and if that's the case then I'm just stuck because you can't hit it (nor see it at all). Any idea what else could it be? I posted a photo of the map of where I am for clarity. I can't neither proceed no get out from there
This is my first playthrough and I want to go through this game with as little bullshit as possible. After a lot of deliberation, I decided on a Dark Elf Spellsword, as I want to use swords and stuff and also magic because I heard that it's decently powerful in this game. Question is, how do I distribute my starting stats and what should I do to make sure my character isn't absolute dog feces?
(update: I think I figured it out but now I'm struggling to turn in a quest item)
New player here, was looking at the controls because I didn't know how to walk lol and came across this under the debugging section. Out of curiosity what is this for?
I wanted to get my enchanted longsword repaired, so I made sure to record the name of the store and it's location. Then I left map notes identifying the shop. Blacksmith 89364 tells me that the job will take 10 days. Great, so I can travel to complete a dungeon quest, and come back to town to both get my reward from the baron and pick up my blade all freshly honed and such. I do my journey and return to town, talk to blacksmith. It is as if I had never left anything for repairs. I went to the inn, waited an extra day, rebooted the game. No change
So, if you drop an item off for repair and then travel for over a month the game just eats your item? Am I understanding correctly or am I missing something.
