Exactly what it says in the title. I want to play arena before I complete daggerfall (getting there) and I was wondering if there was an equivalent to daggerfall unity for arena?
So I have finished the main quest but i want complete the game %100 for that i want collect all artifacts and unlcok every side quest dungeons i started the quest for chrysamere and the journal says map leading to artifact lies in "cavern of helurath" somewhere in elsweyr but i unlocked all side dungeons in elsweyr and none of them named like that what am i supposed to do?
I've attempted a number of times to play through Arena, but I'm finally going to do. I just went through the first dungeon as a plain Jane Nord warrior. It was pretty nice to not die so quickly as I did with other characters.
It may be an old game, but it's still such a great dungeon crawler. Creeping through the sewers, hearing monsters make sounds in the background, running into corners so I can see anything that's coming. Even swinging the mouse to attack feels like I'm reacting to a surprise attack as if I was really there. It's surprising how fun this game is, considering how old it is.
Arena is such an old game now, and because of that, is considered pretty inaccessible and unplayable to most if we’re being honest, so I thought: Why not adapt it to a different medium, so that at the very least the core story could still be experienced? And voilà , I had a new campaign idea for my group. I used an actual physical map of Tamriel to keep track of the various locations and traveling, and, as closely as I realistically could, ran the actual dungeons and the in-game systems. Of course some flavor had to be added here and there and some creative liberties imbued in it for it to really work, the same as most any adaptation, but I really do think it’s potentially a really great way to experience some of these older ES stories that are otherwise just kind of lost and forgotten. Anyways, and stumbled upon some of my old saved notes from setting it up & thought it would be cool to share :)
I’ve just started playing Arena because I want to learn more about TES lore. I’m enjoying the game so far, but there was a bit of text in the opening cutscene that confused me.
It says that 492 years after Tiber Septim took control of Tamriel, ‘Emperor Uriel Septim VII’ was celebrating his 43rd birthday when jealousy began to rise in those who wanted to take the throne for themselves.
However later on, it then refers to the Emperor as ‘Emperor Uriel Septim IV’ - so which is it?
Uriel Septim the 4th or Uriel Septim the 7th?
Or have I missed something lol?
So artifacts disappear after you use them a bit but can i use them endlessly when i constantly give them blacksmiths for repair?
I just discorved arena is on steam now! Is it better then the UESP one? I know UESP have bug fixes and stuff add but there is no info about the steam one? I am looking to come back to the gem of a game and I would like to know if the steam version is better same or worse. thx!
How can i optimize the game. i did one thing which is lowering the details bar. it did help actually. but when i'm in a doungen or something like this my game stutters a lot.
I’m trying to beat all of the Elder Scrolls game and am working backwards. I am almost done with Daggerfall so I was just wondering if there were ways to enhance the vanilla experience
I know its possible but mid game I find monk to be too squishy, maybe enchantments would help
Im trying healer, thinking I can rush strength to 100 since its pretty easy to make great heal spells early for fairly cheap (manawise) and... dude the ghouls are kicking my ass in stonekeep, maybe its not possible with healer, or maybe Im not playing intelligently.
Maybe barbarian? Faster rest/heal rate and super high health
What do you guys think would be a good class for unarmed? is it possible to increase an attribute over 100 with spells?
still working through my first full playthrough of arena, really been enjoying it but have slowed down a ton as the past couple of dungeons have very suddenly started kicking my ass. for context, i am currently in murkwood, so not far from the end to the best of my understanding
i'm playing a lvl 17 dunmer bard. it feels like no matter how prepared i try to be, enemies like hell hounds, stone golems, fire daemons, etc. still just mutilate me from full health to none in two seconds flat. that's why i try and keep healing potions stocked aplenty but even those i end up running through before the dungeon's over, and my magicka just doesn't feel particularly full enough to be able to rely on healing spells either, even with my +10 INT shield. i also feel like i really should have weapons stronger than silver by now, with the crazy number of enemies i've been running into that can't be touched by anything weaker than mithril (i think?). all that combined with a lack of safe places to rest and dungeons that feel like they're getting progressively longer and longer is resulting in what feels like a massive difficulty spike and discouragement from getting to the end of the game.
any tips? reliable ways to be less susceptible to magic-wielding enemies, or better ways to find stronger weapons? would love to be able to finish this game, especially as i plan on doing a replay of the rest of the series in order once i finish this one which i'm looking forward to :)
Yo! I've only discovered Skyrim in July, and immediately fell in love with the ES universe.
I decided to play them all, starting with Arena. I have a few questions;
What race should I pick/How important is it? I want to be a knight. I don't discriminate, I love all races.
I did a couple trial playthrough. I usually clear the whole 1st dungeon to Level up a bit before starting (gets me to ~level 4), but then I immediately die when trying to clear Stonekeep. What are reliable ways to level up? I tried finding random dungeons but it's not easy to navigate on that map lmao
Its something that could revive arena and make it popular like daggerfall unity
Hey Reddit,
I just started The Elder Scrolls Chapter One Arena and as you can tell from the title, I have an idea of how I want to roleplay this game. I am thinking Altair Mixed with Goku. I was inspired to do this when listening to Jwarl speak on the ability to climb in these early Elder Scrolls games. He was saying he stole from a shop then scaled the rooftops to get away or something like that.
I plan on carrying this Character across the entire series since I own all of them. I want to add a third personality inspired from someone in real life history, but I am not sure who. I want it to be someone I consider when I talk to the NPCs I come across in my travels around Tamriel. The picture provided is my first attempt at this. What do you think Reddit?

The UESP says you can get it more than once, and I've seen multiple posts online of people saying they've done that. However, I haven't seen an answer to whether you can get the quest for it again right after getting the artifact, or if you need to do another artifact quest first before you can get the quest for it again.
Does anyone know if you need to do that? I just got it in the Summerset Isles and am now in Valenwood (since I read that you might need to go to a different province to get the quest for it, and that's where I have to go next for the main quest) asking an NPC for rumors to try to get the quest again. I've gotten quests for several other artifacts from this NPC multiple times (loading to before I talked to her if she gives me another artifact quest), but haven't gotten the quest for the Oghma Infinium once. I also know that you can get the quest for it in Valenwood, since that's where I got the quest my first time playing the game a couple years ago (this time, I first got the quest for it in Hammerfell).
I just want to know whether I'm wasting my time by trying to get the quest again right away, and if I should get another artifact first, or if I've just been unlucky and you can get it again right away.
Update: I managed to get the rumor for it. I had originally been loading after each time I got a rumor for another artifact because I assumed you could only get one quest at a time, but I decided to try continuing to ask for rumors, and got rumors for other artifact quests. Eventually, I ended up getting the rumor for the Oghma Infinium.
