Is there a Cheap tool, or way to program a second key for the car? I already have one key for it but lost the second. And I am not paying extreme amounts nissan and other companies want to program a key.
I have a Baldwin deadbolt (picture below or if you click on this post). A key got stuck in it today. The problem did not seem to be the usual thing of the cylinder being loose, because holding down the cylinder didn't do any good. Next, I took the lock apart to see if I could fix it. When I did, a small metal disk fell out of the lock (picture below or if you click on this post). I think it fell out of the cylinder. I left the disk out of the lock and reassembled it, and now the lock works fine. What is the little round piece, though? Does it need to be in the lock or can I just leave it out? Thanks!
Hi guys! I need help identifying what key this is so I can go to Lowe’s and make keys for my front door! I’ve been researching and found a couple that look similar but I need a professional so I don’t spend money on a bunch of keys that don’t work! Thank you
Just going through the last of my Grandfather’s estate and was hoping to get some Lockwood, Silca and Ilco key blanks appraised , I have photos of all the individual types of keys and quantities. Wanting a fair deal. Some but not all have recently sold on eBay. But for the others I have no idea of what price to put on them and I now have people asking.
Is there anyone that could spare a few quick minutes to let me know what prices I should be asking ? Can DM photos to you. Thanks
Hi all I just moved into a house and decided to unscrew some things on my door because I wanted to see how easy it might be to install a switchbot or august lock on it.
I tried putting it back together and the picture is how it turned out - the barrel thing is now super loose and comes out... Any tips please how to fix it?
Hi,
I just bought a house. I have a shed that’s attached to the dwelling at the back of my carport.
The exterior access is two wood doors that swing outward, like this:
It is secured by a simple keyed knob (knob on one door, strike plate thingy in the other door). Even when the lock is engaged, you can just pull both doors and it will come open.
is this fixable, or did the previous homeowner just install the wrong type of lock for this type of door?
If I need to add something else, I was thinking of just using a simple hasp and padlock (below), or maybe a locking hasp. Is there a better solution?
What do you guys carry with you? aside from lockpicks
i need help with my door lock for a room that has been pushed in and now can’t be unlocked
My grandma has a Dexter multipoint lock circa 1980 and I took it apart to oil it. Now, it won’t go back together. She is very sick with cancer so I am trying really hard to fix this.
Just moved into an d rental house. Every interior door has knobs like this. None have a bolt. I’d like to be able to lock some of them, especially the bedroom ones. I can’t find any locking doorknobs that fit the small borehole. The knobs are held on a long metal rod by Allen screws and twist into each other. Any way I can do this without drilling k to these old doors?
Toilet locked from inside we tried using hangers to pull it off but it won’t budge it looks similar to this picture. Unfortunately the window is closed so can’t get in through there either.
Lately I've been getting quite a few requests to change locks on rented residences and after probing questions it's almost always because the tenant doesn't trust the landlord with the keys. To make matters worse it's often for large apartment complexes that will absolutely sue the pants off of me and my shop if I do that without their approval.
So, before you ask, no I cannot legally lock the landlord out of property that is legally owned by them. That would be an absolute mess to deal with in court and I will not touch it with a 20 foot pole without the landlords explicit permission. This would be a Landlord-Tenant dispute, there are laws to deal with those, locksmiths are not lawyers trained to deal with that, please don't ask us to, thanks!
Edit: Should have clarified, this applies to my area (which I’m surprised to find is actually not the norm) where I will absolutely be prosecuted for doing this. Oregon does not allow locking landlords out of their properties without explicit permission
Just bought a lock for my shop and have gotten everything installed. I have tried every method I can find to set the bolt direction but it just doesn’t work. No matter what it keeps doing the opposite as if it were on a right handed door. I have tried just factory resetting and doing (123456) and (set 123456 lock 00 lock) doesn’t work customer support is only Monday to Friday of course
I have a metal-frame commercial glass entry door with a double-sided key locking device and bottom door closer which is dragging against the threshold. I strongly suspect that the lower pivot bushing is badly worn, as I don't see any other means of adjustment. I'd like to have the proper pivot bushing on hand before I take the door down to work on it, but I see no indications of a manufacturer's tag or model. Any suggestions for sizing it?
Sorry that I don't have photos here. I may be able to post some on Monday if they will help.
Greetings,
We are using TTRenting for some of our customers when the lock has keypads with keys from 0-7. For example, the TTlock application is generating codes appropriately (i.e., without 8 or 9), but when the same lock is used with TTrenting, it sometimes generates codes including 8 and 9, which the user can't use due to non-existent 8, 9 keys.
TTlock support is almost impossible to get. Any help will be appreciated, please. thank you.
Hey,
So I lost my keys, I’m in the process of trying to find them but the bus company will not get back to me. If I can’t find them would it be possible to make an exact replica with my spare key? They are a specific brand so I’m not too sure.
Anything would be helpful, thank you!
The manager I hired forgot to set the admin account for this Homie biometric reader. Any idea how to factory reset it?
I bought four different sets of Schlage dead-bolts from Lowes today. I installed and realized 3 of the four have matching keys. Is this normal? Seems like a security concern.
There is a gun safe similar to the one that I have posted in this photo that was left to us and I was wondering if there is any non-destructive way to get into it at factory reset the code it is in mint condition that no one has any idea what code he may have used.
Is there a limit to the amount of numbers that can be input on a digital lock for these?
I have a house door that has a door knob and a deadbolt. A key unlocks both the door knob and the deadbolt. While I was at a hardware store, I decided to make a copy of the key using a key duplicator machine so I would have spare. When I got home and tried the new key, it works on the door knob but won’t work on the deadbolt. Any idea why? This makes no sense. ?????
