Hey everyone,
I'm a Mechanical Engineer, I have worked in manufacturing and in the trades services for more than 10 years. I have done, myself, electrical and HVAC system design and installations, and I have owned my own business for the past 6 years. I am now leading a search for our small family group (me and two uncles), and eventually I will be operating the business we acquire.
We are looking for an HVAC company in South East Florida, preferably with the following conditions:
We are not a Private Equity group, we are not going to use SBA financing, we are ready to do a cash offer when something interesting appears. Our idea is to maintain the quality of work and try to expand the business throughout the area, integrating different services to the main business.
If someone would be interested or know someone who may be interested please send me a DM, I would really appreciate it. Hope this post does not offend anyone in this group, just looking for something we can really help grow and provide real value to people.
Thanks!
I traced it down to Carrier 320725-753 Draft Inducer Motor Assembly. Swear to god, if I could find the instructions, it said to use a special silicone then use nothing but Pam cooking oil on the inducer itself after outlining where the old gasket was in a particular sealant then included a whole essay on why Pam cooking oil and no other brand, down to the detail of which Pam cooking oil will work. Never got Pam cooking oil and never had an issue. Does anyone else remember this wild ass thing?
19M I'm in texas and about to finish up an associates in hvac and plan on doing Lone-Star colleges "Trades Management" Bachelors' degree. After I finish the associates I plan on working and want to go anywhere where the pay is good. I've been hearing alot about unions and apprenticeships and unsure about how it works.
Can't find much about the pay at houston's union and also not sure if I still have to do all 5 years if I already have an associates.
If anyone can give me some advice on how to go about it after leaving trade school, it'd be very helpful.
I'm trying to go to classes at night for HVAC, I'm just wondering if anyone knows if Texas Technical Trade School is good option or Houston Trade Training? Texas Technical is $6,000 to attend and Trade Training is $2,000 to attend.
Hello I am in the Houston area and I was let go from my job when they changed owners I’ve been doing this for only about a year and I’m looking for an any work I could get or just advise on how to get going on my own
$399 including tax and shipping. Not including lineset, communication cable, or bracket. Had a couple of the guys at work help me out. We installed it in less than 3 hours. Seems to be functioning properly. For anybody on the fence about heatandcool.com, it seems legit.
What kind of heat blankets are y’all using for winter charging?
Ok, so our pool guy just quit after 25 years. He used to take care of everything that went wrong with our pools and they got this new guy who's not mechanically inclined. He only knows the pool chems, pumps, plumbing, etc.. but doesn't know how to work on the pool heaters.
Today, we get an error code on one of our heaters which is pointing to the stack flue sensor, which we have to order.
So now, the HVAC crew is appointed to be the ones to take over repairing the pool heaters from now on. The good news is that all the heaters are the same brand and model, Pentair Mastertemp 400. I think we maybe have around 30 of these around the property, we usually don't have anything to do with the pool stuff, today was the first day I get to go to one of the pump rooms after 24 years of working at the property.
I want to get ahead of the curve. I need to know which parts to keep in stock, if anyone here is familiar with this brand and model and knows what parts go bad often.
I'll order 10 of the flue stack sensors tomorrow and maybe 10 flow switches. Aside from these, I don't know which ones I should be ordering.
Hello all, I am an HVACR Trade Student with about 3 months experience. I graduate in August, but I am wanting to have a job in the trade before I graduate as it does not pay well for my location and the work/responsibilities i have. Has anyone had luck with employment prior to graduation/certifications? I know I wouldnt be able to work full time as I am in school from 8:30-2:00 Mon-Thurs, but I have learned alot so far and i am doing very well in all of my classes (95-100% Average.) I know all of the refrigeration cycle, following voltage, superheat/subcool calculating, a little about charging, and im very hands on as I am a hobby mechanic for my family. I have called a few places and also applied on indeed but I know its not busy season yet. Should I try and go in person and show my worth? or just suck it up till August
Just applied for Local 537 any pointers on a shop job or any experience till then. Everyone is telling me it's slow season when I ask.
Hi everyone,
I’m currently working as an HVAC Service Technician in small residential hvac company for about a year now and I’m really interested in transitioning to an HVAC Automation Tech role. I’ve been researching, but I’d love to hear from those of you who have made a similar switch or who work in automation. I live in Toronto, Canada by the way.
I really appreciate any insights or guidance you can share. Thanks in advance!
Found this a couple weeks ago. How does this happen???
Hard to get a picture of the filth inside, and there was a smell.
Decided to read more about ductwork as not many people are competent in airflow issues (including myself) and noticed the basic airflow measurements follow the same pattern as the ohms law triangle. Thought it was a fun way to remember it (The physics symbol of Volume vs velocity is just capitalizing the V, so I underlined the big one to put emphasis on the difference in the symbol as it’s just random notes I decided to take out of boredom
Getting pretty big tax return. What tools should I get that make our job easier
Put your kids furniture together using your service valve wrench.
It fits and saves a ton of time.
Anybody know where I can find the sensible and latent data for Daikin matchups? Thx.
Anyone else’s company send them to do other trades? Got injured on a plumbing job and now the safety guy is mad at ME for doing something I didn’t know how to do. What the hell man, I don’t make the schedule. Been thinking about telling my service manager to stop sending me outside my trade. I mean Im only a first year so I get being a helping hand, but if you need a hand hire a plumbing helper. Im not supposed to be learning plumbing, I’m supposed to be learning HVAC. Don’t really know what to do and I could use some help. Anyone else been in this situation?
Customer ended up wanting to replace the entire heat exchanger. At first almost thought we had a cracked heat exchanger.
I'm 17 in high school, my school has an option to take us to a larger school in a nearby town which has basically a mini trade school (automotive, nurse shit, computer shit, etc) plus my construction trades. I learn everything, from Framing to shingling to siding to wiring, we will be finishing the house. I'm in it for carpentry though, and plan on going into carpentry adter school. First I want to go to Missouri state tech for HVAC. Anyone know if I'd be able to start a job with Framing and continue into the hvac in the same house? Would a construction company let me do both?
As the title says, I have a second job interview at a university. When I got the call they said to come in work attire because they are going to have me do some work to tes me. Has anyone gone through this process so that they can give me an idea of what to expect? Thank you in advance.
