Look at all the nice gifts the squirrel gave the furnace. They hadn't made it to the draft inducer yet but give it a few more days and I think one or two would have made it. Exhaust pipe gooseneck is 9-10 off the ground on a brick house. I covered the exhaust and intake with rat wire baskets to hopefully stop this from happening again.
10years hvac technician wanting to start my own hvac mechanical company in nyc... Looking to aim for residential only for now What do i need to open a company?

I work in some cheap ass apartments. I ran two calls back to back where the igniter would come on and time out. I checked the voltage at the gas valve both times, and there was voltage and clicking. I changed the gas valves out and had to change the pressure switch too. Then they worked perfectly afterwards. Has anyone experienced this?
Looking for information on what pay to expect and advice on working in the orlando area. Moving from Arkansas with two years of field experience doing resi/light commercial service/install and two years of resort facility maintenance experience prior. Wanting to try and switch to commercial/kitchen service but will be open to working in residential if necessary. EPA Certified and wanting to learning more about kitchen refrigeration systems, vrf systems, controls, and really anything related to the field. Also, if anyone has any tips on how to switch to commercial I would be happy to listen.

Does anyone have any tips into getting into HVAC in Indiana without 2-4 years of college ?
For anyone who does residential work, this is the plastic POS air handler that Trane/American Standard sells as top of their line.
It's under positive pressure, so that you can feel a cool breeze through all the gaps in the panels while you're in a hot attic.
For some reason they used phillips screws on the doors, instead of 5/16 or 1/4. Is this a favor to hourly techs to slow us down? Also, if you want to service the high voltage, that's behind one door, if you want the low voltage, that's a different door.
Putting it back together is a struggle. The screws fall out, the the clips break, you can't figure out where to put the low voltage wires through the cabinet. Then when you get it all together, you can hear and feel air hissing through the gaps in the cabinet.
I'm not even going to start on the evaporator coil leaks.
The positive pressure air handler is the solution to a non-problem. It's the answer to a question nobody ever asked. It's different for the sake of being different.
He thinks he’s really Billy bad ass.
the liquid line was removed already & i don’t have the tool to remove the other one.
Anybody ever braze a plumbing connection? I took out a humidifier saddle valve and placed new quarter turn valve on hot water side, brazed over the hole. Wondering if I could braze plumbing fittings in a pinch.
Every time I have to install these damn 3 ton 15seer I wanna slap the engineer who designed this.
What should a boiler pressure be set for? 3 story building, boiler is on the 2nd floor.
So in the past couple months I've had probably 4 or 5 calls where someone had new equipment and was stating it was louder than they expected.
All of these systems sounded normal (quiet) to me, but I did notice the common denominator to be that they are all elderly with hearing aids and high efficiency equipment. Inverter driven compressors and ECMs in all cases.
Now this is conjecture, but perhaps the hearing aids are picking up the changes in frequency whereas ears can't (at least not to the same extent)?
Has anyone else ran into this? If so how are you approaching the situation?
Some of you have wheelie bad days. Especially if it’s on the way home .
