I have had people tell me different ways to do this but I figured id ask. I have a double maglock with 2 touch sense bars, a push to exit button, and a wireless remote release button model number is RT-1. how would I wire these together. I obviously want no delay on the touch sense bars. Thanks.
Has anyone got experience with a highly accurate people counting camera? I want to have a camera send an image/video clip when the camera detects more than one person when a hardwired input is activated in the camera. Basically, If a door is open and two people come in, I want an image, if one person comes in, no image. I’m sure there are a hundred ways to do this, I’m looking for the most reliable one.
I had a ticket today for an Assa Abloy HES 9000 series rim strike that had a sticking flipper (not sure of the technical term). Upon inspecting the unit I found that one of the solenoids seemed to not be working. After cycling the power it seemed to latch intermittently. My conclusion was that the solenoid had gone bad.
This particular client has the doors unlocked all day during normal hours which means that in it's current state the lock is constantly receiving power to keep the latch unlocked. Is this bad for this type of lock? I looked up some of the specifications and this lock is able to set to fail secure or safe so I assume that it can go all day, but I was always under the impression that these types of locks really shouldn't be powered like that all day.
I was going to try and test the solenoid and it's resistance, but I couldn't get to it easy without removing some tape from around the solenoid. Since then I have seen that it is possible to test the resistance simply by plugging my test leads into the pigtail connector. Is this how others do it or is there an easier way to do it?
To preface I apologize for the book. I'm new to Access/Surveillance/Intrusion. I'm 25 and have a background in construction and being very tech savvy. I was able to land a position working as a security tech for a company with 18 different facilities. I'm a solo team taking care of installation, programming, and maintaining their whole system. I pride myself on being extremely adaptable and learnability so this was a challenge that I was able to overcome. I've been there for about a year and a half. They utilize only Avigilon for cameras and access. At this point, everything I learn is through researching since I'm quite good with the equipment they have. I want to continue to learn and grow thereby moving into a different job. I don't have a problem traveling for training if it's of quality but outside of hands-on experience because I only work with Avigilon. What are sources y'all have found that could help me further myself? Mind you I've scoured the web learning what I know now. My employer might not be the most apt to send me through an online school of sorts.
The 782 LR Controller requires a 782 Power Supply, but the controller draws a 9 Amp inrush while the PS output is rated for 4 Amps. How does this work?
Hello everyone, does anyone has experience installing aperio locks with an AH40 IP hub to OnGuard 8.2?
Controller is an x4420.
I have been unable to get the hub to connect to the board. Checked ports, TLS etc in both OnGuard and the Hub.
Am I missing something?
The ACU IP one sets up in the hub is the one of the controller (x4420 correct)? I have heard that on some systems the ACU IP is the one of the server not the controller. But is not something I can test at the moment. The site is online and there is a huge bureaucracy to make changes that would allow to open a port from.where the server is to the hub.
Thanks
Hey,
I have a site that has Paxton10 cameras installed 2 years ago and want them setting up. I'd like to install a Hik NVR but I don't know if the cameras are compatible/Onvif compliant. Any know if this is doable? Thanks in advance
Does anyone know where Panasonic hides the Docs for Monitor Cast's API functions ? We are looking to build some custom scripts to run on our doors but have have no luck looking and emailing i-pro.
Hi there, my company has offices in England, Ireland, Denmark, Poland, France, Estonia, Portugal and Germany and I need to find a source for basic badging supplies that is based in the EU. I have the UK covered already, but I was hoping to find one or two sources inside the EU to simplify things a bit. I am talking about things like badge holders, mylar CR-80 stickers to re-use badges, printer ribbons for Fargo printers... that kind of stuff. Do you have any sources you can recommend?
Can anyone help me?
Before, the system was working fine. Then when we tried to upload a new user using face recognition, the photo won't be uploaded but no error shows up.
We tried to add new user using the FR, it is manually uploaded but we cannot see it in the staff database. But, we can open the door and have some logs.
Sorry I am not an English speaker.
Hey all—end user here. Our company is in the middle of several capital builds, and Signo 40NKS-00-000000 card readers were specified and included in the original bids. Shortly after these projects started, we made the decision to use HID Elite Keys for increased security. We've recently received significant change orders from our integrator, informing us that our HID Elite ICE key cannot be field-programmed to these readers, and that we need to switch to Signo 40NKS-03-XXXXXX readers.
My understanding is that the "-03" suffix indicates a factory-programmed reader with custom keys like our ICE key. While I recognize the importance of security, this change has substantial budget implications for us.
Is it true that the "-00" readers can't be field-programmed with our ICE key using the Reader Manager app? Has anyone else navigated this situation, and are there any alternatives to ordering new readers?
We migrated our lenel system to the cloud and now when we open alarm monitoring it takes super long to load. I am trying to brain storm what is causing this. We do have lots of comm servers but those are in the cloud too. Not my first Rodeo with migrating to the cloud , We did Genetec and learned that you have to configure the network to point to the correct server or the redirectors will point else where , Trying to see if Lenel has other network options that I am unaware of.
The computer that hosted our Keri / Doors.net system is kaput and is going to be replaced. This also included the DB. The computer will be replaced tomorrow. We engaged our access control contact and he should be able to help us get the doors.net software. TBD.
Of course once it's setup my goal is to figure out a backup solution both from a user profile standpoint / data and a system standpoint. But with us in this position, what's next?
Wishful thinking but I take it doors.net doesn't have a way to import it's config from the existing system does it? Does the whole system have to be wiped and we have to get everyone's key fobs again?
TIA!
Im looking for advice and ideas on generating more commercial business. We install security systems, surveillance systems, and access control for small and big businesses.
Hey team! Trying to get my finger around on what industry specific CAD design softwares are being used in the US / Canada (please feel free to tell me what you are using outside of North America as well for input). Could you help me understand this?
Looking for something more intelligent than AutoCAD, that can deliver my automatic riser diagrams, automatic bill of materials, power calculations etc.
Hi guys,
I'm looking for smart lock like "yale x nest" or something like that, but, this is my mechanism is like this:
But I need a smart lock for this door.
I have a client that wants to combine a scheduled time zone/reader mode with double tap.
Normally I tell them that these two options are mutually exclusive. I know now that is not true, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the extra effort to set up.
When you have both enabled on a door, the double card will not do anything if the reader is unlocked by a timezone. If you double card unlock, the timezone will not change the reader mode back to default when it ends.
So far, I’ve configured the following:
Now, herein lies my problem; The client only wants double card during office hours (understandably). But I’ve found that if a cardholder has multiple access levels, the most permissive level wins.
Result: Cardholder can always double card the door unlocked.
Has anyone successfully combined these two options?
Hey All,
End user here but we're running into something we don't really understand and wondering if anyone else has seen this.
We don't own any of our facilities so we're at the whim of the buildings to provide our credentials. Several of our facilities have DSX systems that use D10202 cards (FC 17), however it seems a roll of the dice if our brivo panels decode these as D10202 or Generic 33 bit. From what we can see the only difference between generic 33 bit and D10202 is the first and last bit are set which seem to map to even/odd parity according to this - https://www.everythingid.com.au/hid-card-formats-i-15
According to at least one building the cards should all be D10202, but both Signo readers and Omnikeys clearly show a difference (we can see the high/low bits set on D10202 cards)
Any idea why this is? Unfortunately for us this means we either have to swipe to enroll or add both formats for each card until it's used at least once to know which type they are internally.
I've inherited an old S2 NetBox system that is used for badge access and badge printing. I'm trying to print a badge, but I'm getting an error that I need to install Photo ID Software. See picture below.
Going to www.s2sys.com takes me to https://www.lenels2.com/en/. After searching their support I was unable to find the software. Does anyone know where I can get the Photo ID Software?
Hi, looking to get some feed back from other installers.
We live in -40°C + 40°C climate. I have an adams rite 4300 working on a condo for years with no issue. (double door)
We've recently installed these on single door applications and we are getting the same issue at both locations, Latch has resistance and prevents the door from closing. After pushing on the latch multiple times the resistance is gone. Door works normal again for a period of time until it acts up. (Rebuilding the strike is the same results).
Adam rite Tech support says the their strike should be maintenance free and no additional grease is required for their product. I've been issued an RMA. They claim they never have issues with these.
My supplier says these units are awful and it's the most returned item.
Am I missing something?
Doors are lined up and seem not to be rubbing. General operation of the door, looks good. Only thing different from the two sites is, the condo has a door operator on it. I've tried door grease even though it says its not required.
Thank you. Any input will be appreciated.
Hi
Let`s not focus on how a bad product this is.
I`m having trouble setting IP adress with the tool. I can set a 192.168.x.x. But not what I need 10.90.224.x. I`m using leading zeros, and tried without. I`m getting a error and can`t save. Anyone used these before and have the solution.
Hello everybody! We're a small company with like 10/15 employees and we have difficulties finding contractors that does this kind of stuff so we settled on our IT guys doing this with the help of some of you. So we have an automatic sliding door at the entrance and we wanna have the clock in and clock out readers on each side of the door which also open the sliding doors as we arrive/leave. The main brands supplied to our country are Dahua and Hikvision, can anybody point us in the right direction. What kind of equipment we will need and maybe a short insight in how to wire everything together. Any help would he appreciated!
Hey I know this is a long shot but I'm a college student who hosts an access control village at different cybersec cons, and in the past I have done wiegand labs/challenges. I am now looking to make some OSDP challenges and labs, but the spec is pretty costly. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to send me a copy of the spec (if that's allowed/you're willing to) or know a way I could get it cheaper? Or if you are an SIA member are you allowed to buy me a discounted copy if I send you 50 bucks? Thanks!
