I just bought a condo and want some type of indoor door security system that cannot be seen from the outside. There are plenty that can be used while you are home but I can't seem to find any that would be used while out by control through remote or app when you are not home. I guess I am looking for a surface mounted smart lock that is only on the inside of the door. I only see a few so far but doesn't seem to offer much security if someone were to try to kick in the door. https://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Deadbolt-Anti-Theft-Security-Smartphone/dp/B0C1ZH32Y6/ref=asc_df_B0C1ZH32Y6?mcid=c0ffa6798e2b3a42876e27bed4983da5&hvocijid=8470327740818743627-B0C1ZH32Y6-&hvexpln=73&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=692875362841&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8470327740818743627&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9051496&hvtargid=pla-2281435179258&psc=1
Updates:
Hello All,
Note: Excuse my grammar, I have a cold and working on very little sleep.
I am working on a project for a church (one location) concerning security measures. We are looking for an all in one company that provides: physical control systems, system & infrastructure monitoring, sensors/alarms and personal identification systems. I do not have a background in tech or security whatsoever, just a person who researches and learns quickly; please use plain language if possible. Current companies (with locations in Illinois) I am looking at are:
1). Johnson Controls
2). Securitas Technology
3).Verkada
4). Assa Abloy
Basically, we want to be able to have video footage within and outside the property including parking lots, personal identification systems (non facial recognition) using a keycard or app based (phone tap to unlock maybe), knowledge of who's going in and out of the property at all times, able to unlock and lock doors for specific amount of times, alert authorities if needed, remotely close and open parking lot gate from phone, etc. From researching it seems that Johnson Controls is over wi-fi and I believe cloud-based is best, am I correct in this assumption? Also fyi: we are purchasing this equipment, software using a grant with a period of performance of 1 year, so kind of want to avoid monthly subscriptions but we are open to them as long as isn't too pricey; again I have no experience so some of this may not make sense. Thank you all in advance for your help. Let me know if you need clarification on anything.
Curent we use Pro-watch 4.5, we want to do migration to Onguard 8. Need do some comparison between Pro-watch and Onguard 8. Can anyone share the manuals ?
We have a site that requires retrofitting locks in frames and doors. Looking for a local installer to sub out this part of the scope. DM me if interested.
Hey folks,
First time poster, long time lurker. I’ve been in I.T for some time and I just started taking a stab at installing an electric strike for the first time as a favour to a long time client.
I’m not new to readers and such, just the lock hardware.
As you can see in the picture, I’ve marked with pencil where my latch bolt will feed in to the strike. It is way too low for the strike the manufacturer recommended to me and I’m wondering if those of you who have experienced this can steer me into the right course of action and perhaps the right strike for this application?
The door had a mortise lock that used a deadbolt and Sargent tech support recommended that I replace it with their 32d lock body, which I did.
Thanks for your help.
Hi All,
Hoping someone has seen this before. I have a Genetec Synergis Access Control System v5.12 that is logging Door Forced events on several doors every time the door closes (even after a successful access granted event) when watching on video, the cardholder scans their badge, is granted access and then enters. as soon as the door contact meets I have a split second where the reader flashes its alarm pattern and then logs a door forced event, making it hard to find actual door forced events such as in an investigation I am working on. Anyone seen this before or have any ideas on how to fix?
I have a DKS Cantilevered Gate that is run by two 12v 18ah batteries run in series for 24v. The solar panel that charges them is 24v at 10watts. The batteries are toast (won’t hold a charge anymore). If I replace with Lithium batteries at the same specs, will that panel charge them? Thanks!
I have a magnetic lock installed recently. It worked perfectly for 2 days and then it started to take alot of time to open. The led remains green for a while before it goes off and this happens with all unlocking methods.
Hi all,
Curious if anyone who has migrated access control from Lenel to Genetec has any project timeline and expense numbers they could share as well as any overall insights or reflections on how the migration went. We have around 160 readers and 20+ panels in the environment, much of it on the older side, and would love to get a sense of effort and cost before we start getting quotes from integrators. Also, would be interested to know how much work you relegated to an integrator vs your in-house team.
Thank you in advance!
Hi, We are moving to a home with akuvox intercom. I wanted to have an integrated security solution, so I can control access but also see cameras around the property. Is Akuvox able to do this or should I replace it? This is a home and in our previous property we have Google home - it was flaky (camera quality) but worked. I've never heard of Akuvox but appreciate I'm very much out off my lane... Hopefully not a stupid question and thanks in advance...
Can anyone point me in the direction of helping me find a layout diagram of a S2-ACM Blade. I cant find anywhere on the board what is reader 1 or 2 and whats input 1-4 and output 1-4. Thank you.
At ONGUARD 8.3 data exchange is not working. Can anyone help on this
Some contractors in my building want us to completely lock out access to a particular area while they apply levelling compound to the floor. I know how to lock an area in the sense of only card-holders can get in. What they seem to want is for no-one gets in until the compound dries. any ideas?
how do you estimate your cable runs. let say you have 10 device in a particular wing of a building. it's not really feasible to run one cable at a time.
I understand figure out where the cables will meet to run them to the head end. So place the boxes at that point and pull to the head end put
Whats the best way to estimate to the device from there.
Thank for any help.
Hi, apologies if this isn’t the right subreddit for this question.
We currently have an Adams Rite 4530 Standard Duty Deadlatch installed on our commercial storefront’s main entrance. I’ve been tasked with replacing the strike with an electric strike that will be controlled by an intercom system for access control.
While planning this upgrade, I’m considering whether it might also be time to replace the lock itself with something more secure.
Your advice on pairing the right electric strike and lock would be very helpful. Thank you in advance!
Gate opens for a couple of seconds, then reverses - any ideas how to fix it?
Hello,
We have a Paxton Net2 and we've added it to our monitoring platform (to check it's alive) but the problem is, every time the device is pinged, it beeps.
Is there any way to disable this? We've had to remove it from our monitoring for now.
Thanks in advance.
Does anyone know the model of this bar? Google image search was not helpful. Also if there is an available retrofit actuator available. Thank you.
I’m new to Salto (not to AC systems) and have a CU4200 and cannot for the life of me find if the relay output power is adjustable down from 24v to 12v.
I’m using an LSP M8 for the lock power, but troubleshooting an issue with a 12v door strike and wanted to see if direct connection to the Salto relay would work, but it’s just giving me 24v. All other doors working fine… always has to be one, right!?!
Am I missing a switch somewhere? Cannot find it on the device, in the manual, or in the software.
Thank you
I am trying to find the right setup and hardware for our situation which work smoothly.
Our current setup:
We I am currently at: I found Hikvision has intercom displays that have can communicate with each other and can be powered by POE (The Electricty cables stay unsed).
Solution 1? Now the door has no cables at the moment. So I found that you could use a smart lock like the ones of NUKI. But I think it might not integrate well with any intercom. Meaning that using the button to open the door on the intercom won't be able to open a smart lock.
Solution 2? So next I found indoor safety relais that you connect to an electric lock (like Hikvision DS-K2M061 Secure Module). If I understand correctly, I just have to make another hole from my bell to my hallwall and connect the relais and than comes the tricky part. I probably have to get the cable from the relais to the electric doorlock in a subtle way.
Help - Connecting electric doorlock to intercom: So there are a lot of videos about wiring lock to intercom but I cannot find any about how this is done in practice. Either I see that the door have already a cable in their lock hole and they say nothing about how the door itself is being wired or connected. Or it are DIY examples of a lock they place on top of a door (mosty for inside)
Could anyone give me advice on which options I have for my setup to make it all work and ideally be able to connect the setup to a smarthome or Google Home ?
Small note: In 5 years I am also allowed to replace the door (due regulations we can't atm) so advice on doors is also welcome.
Hello all,
We have been dealing with this solution for over 2 years now for a client. We keep getting issues with the event not logging random events at certain doors such as both valid or invalid credential card swipes. We do not monitor this customer's system, but we continuosly get calls with issues with this on-prem 3xLogic Infinias software. We have confirmed there is no issues with wiring, controllers are in good condition, and all firmware is up to date with the latest/greatest. We have had many other issues with the software crashing on the server.
The software is running on a NUC w/ Windows 11. Keep in mind, we also do not control their network. I have to go through the facility's IT manager, who has configured the required WAN/LAN settings.
Could issues occuring, such as the event log not logging events be caused by compatibility issues with Windows 11 pro? Would it be worth downgrading to Windows 10 pro?
Would it be worth it to swap the client to 3XLogic's cloud solution? We are at a point where we are about to bite the bullet and run from 3XLogic or see if they will help us out with a discounted upgrade to to their cloud solution after all the issues we have had with their on-prem solution.
heres my situation. The door I am working on has an Assa Abloy door operator model# SW200. There is an outter, inner button and 2 what look like OHD Presence sensors? They look like rexs but are tubular and stretch the whole length of the door horizontally. They want us to add a 12vdc electric strike and a card reader to this door. Currently there is no electric strike on this door. I know the strike needs to fire first before the operator opens but I am unsure on how to wire this to make it all work properly. The card reader will go back to my S2 access control system. Id like to have the operator control my electric strike not my access system. Also after hours I want to shunt the outter handicap button unless a valid card read is detected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What would be the best solution for a small, 4 unit older building with a lobby and gate access? Is there a system that can also unlock specific units?
Building has an old system and everyone is using T2 Indala fobs, they bought a new set but didn't realize they order the wrong ones (E8) It's hard to find specifically labeled T2 fobs, where as E8 are more readily available, which is probably why they got them given they look identical. I have tried to dig for any info on how to decode the info on a key fob as to what kind of RFID is in it and how to find more and have come up really empty. T2 seems to be a band of UHF but I can not find any similar indication for E8. I was hoping to find a good run down on all the different protocols for proximity tags but have not. Can anyone point me it the right direction?
now for an odd story... same system
My company recently took over this building and a power failure blew out a 12v power supply and half the readers went down. When I replaced the power supply the readers came back up but were all in an alarm state (continuous beep) and not working. I unpowered everything and came back end of day so they employees did not have to listen to the cacophony and as I sat digging through the server looking for some indication of why the screaming, after about 10 minutes they stopped screaming, and started working. Then 5 minutes later they stopped and went dead again with zero response. The power supply is still on. The control cards are still powered up. Server indicates no problems. odd right?
The system is a Casi-Ruco Micro 5. pretty ancient but would love some info if anyone knows an subject matter expert. Thank you.
Hey Everyone,
I’m going to be setting up a Lenel Elements Gateway and Recorder this week. I’m being told it’s a rush to get the system going, but even though we do lots of onguard this is our first Elements and we don’t even have the portals all set up yet so we shall see how much of a rush it becomes.
I’m going through the Elements Cert course via the training portal and it all makes sense except I’m having a brain fart and not following a few things about setting up the ICS and the cameras.
The gateway, says it must be dhcp. Fine, similar to openpath. But to add a X2220 you need an IP. Where does that IP come from? Does it need to be in the same range as the gateway? And does it need to be plugged into the same switch or does it plug directly into the gateway?
The recorder (I know it can also handle the access, but we have both) it also says dhcp. Fine. But to add cameras the course says they must have static ips on the same local network and names/pw. Where do those ips come from if the recorder is dhcp? How does the recorder see the cameras? Should there be a switch plugged in to a second nic card?
I haven’t opened up the equipment yet to stage the system so the answers might be in the manuals. Just looking for some insights from someone who has been using this system.
Cheers and have a great one
