Whether it's mods, wheels, tires, tuning, suspension, maintenance, repairs, exhaust, or something else for relevant models, this thread is for questions that may seem too small to warrant a post or because searching just isn't your friend today.
You'll also find resources on the sidebar/about section including: recommended mods and OEM/aftermarket parts retailers, tuners, online owner's manuals, and other forums.
Be sure to include any relevant model information (year/generation, mileage, mods, codes, etc) if it isn't already in your user flair.

Hello everyone! after a couple of years of spirited driving I've kinda decided to settle down a bit (for most part at least lol) and am in pursuit of better ride comfort now. Hence I've been thinking of upgrading my engine mounts to hydraulic ones (from arteon/passat, for example, or some aftermarket option). Has anybody here done it and if so, what's your experience? How do they behave during chill and spirited driving? And could you suggest some good aftermarket options is there are any?

Hey all --
What's the go-to for phone mounts? I'm in a 2015 US-market GTI.
Cheers. PFA.

Here's you go! Very grateful for being so close to this event. Been going since I was kid #laautoshow #californiadreaming #paddleshifter
I’m really enjoying the sound of the ARM downpipes, currently im stock but planning on intake and turbo inlet. I have stock catback and exhaust
Can someone sell me on which one to purchase, or any recommendations? Here’s my personal deciding factors right now
Catted • Sounds better imo (deeper), no smell (i think)
Catless • Virtually none but some hp gain • Can cause less problems • No emission laws where I live • Cheaper
Most videos I see online of people driving the Mk7 6MT seem to bang the gear and let the clutch yank the revs down when spirited driving. Is this faster than just waiting for the rev hang to drop? I never bang gears as it feels so wrong and makes the shift rather rough. I do however, love the feeling of banging gears and was just wondering your guys' take on this phenomenon. Maybe something to reserve specifically for the canyons/track? It has to wear the clutch more, right?
I drive a 2018 SE (and LOVE it, absolutely obsessed) that I bought used. A few months in I got a message saying that my key fob (used for keyless entry and starting of the car) had a low battery so I replaced it and all was good. Today after running many errands (where I started, stopped, and locked my car in between) my key stopped working on the car. I was able to get in and start the car (manually unlocking the car and placing the fob close to the wheel as VW suggests for emergencies) but even after replacing the battery the fob doesn’t work. Has anyone else had this happen? I got no warnings my key simply stopped working. Hopefully taking it to the dealership this month to get it fixed but the whole thing was very odd.
Would love to hear if anyone has had a similar experience/what helped!
My key broke off in my ignition today and the immobilizer activated. How do I get rid of it
I have a 2011 Volkswagen gti and my diverter valve bolts keep coming loose no matter how tight I get them and idk if I should use locktite or not idk I just keep getting low boost codes from it and it’s just bugging me !! Pls help!!
SO im going to build a custom exhaust for my MK6 gti which currently has a custom catless exhaust from the previous owner. So i want to keep the catless dp but go straight back to a quieter muffler. I was thinking maybe a straight pipe to a stock muffler. any other recommendations for a quiet muffler? Right now it looks like my car has 3 resonators ( 2 acting as the mufflers then on as an actual resonator)
Playing back this video, the puffs of smoke look a little more blue-ish than what I’d expect. What do you all think?
2016 mk7 86k miles
Love my GTI but I’m at a crossroads.
It’s got 36k and is like new Mk7. Bone stock, never driven in winter (northeast based).
I need towing capabilities (1500 lbs gross, like 250 lbs tongue) and want to drive a car in winter.
Do I:
A) get something less nice but not clapped out
Or
B) rustproof it, slap a tow hitch on, and get some snow tires?
TIA
that black extension + white trim looks very crisp
US 380s oryx white here with black roof and in need of this CS spoiler. I love the black extension of the spoiler that cannot be found on the current CS spoilers. The only one I found is only sold used with in EU region and they don't ship internationally, pic below
Hi, water pump is out and I can’t take it to the shop until next week, I ordered some coolant but hasn’t arrived, I need to drive the car for a few days is it okay to use distilled water? Golf GTI 7.5
Thank you in advance
I have been considering either tune. IE Performance gives a little extra power, but I don't get the physical access port, and it's a little more expensive. Cobb gives a little less power, but I get the physical screen with the access port. What do you guys recommend?
First manual car and somehow I drove it home 😅 many stalls but I still enjoy driving it.
