Does it scare the shit out of you too?
I have the opportunity to buy a 2008 VW New Beetle S (not convertible) for cheap. Looks like it has been well maintained through a VW dealership by the previous owner and is low mileage (85,000). Very interested in buying but I would love to get a ballpark of how much maintenance would cost for this car as well as how much you have paid for the most common repairs for this model (ex: headlights, window regulators, various interior repairs, transmission repairs/replacements). I hear a mixed bag of reviews about this year’s reliability and am a little nervous about the cost of keeping it running. For further context, I live in the US so Im sure the cost of parts are much higher than elsewhere.

I recently had my left rear taillight go out and I have no clue how to fix it. I already tried changing the bulb and nothing happened. I don’t know if this tid bit of context may help but prior to the taillight going out, I had short circuited my 12v car charger by dropping a dime in it …. It’s fixed now and the fuse was replaced but I can’t help but feel this is a direct result of that issue. Help me restore my baby please 🙏
Anyone have a blown out diagram of a 2013 vw golf 2.5l manual transmission 5 speed?

I've been told by someone who was told by someone that it's the PCV valve and the rocker cover would need to be removed to fix it. Potentially costing ~$4000 to fix.
Hello,
I am trying to buy a VW Tiguan 2022 SE here in San Diego california. How reliable is the car? Also the dealer is trying to sell me VW Appearance and Theft package ($1295 + $995) when I said I don’t want it because it’s a used car they said they come with it. And that I can’t decline these packages as they are already installed? Is this true? And how to avoid this?
Thank you
The indicator arrows are lit permanently. The display in the middle does not work with the buttons on the steering wheel. The radio also has no power. Could anybody help me? Thank you!!
Nav settings not saving. 2021 sel
Bought a used 2021 sel rline, nav system had previous owners favorites and home address. I‘ve deleted these and changed the settings multiple times. I’ve did a factory reset twice, I’ve pulled the battery off the car for twenty minutes.. nothing seems to work, it just keeps going back to the previous owners info.. any tips?
Hello everyone, I own a 2007 Golf mk5 GT 3dr model that's equipped with a Volkswagen Sound System that has 10 speakers and i would like to upgrade the speakers. Each doors have the following speaker: A 6.5"(165mm) 2ohm speaker, a 4" (100mm) 4 ohm speaker and a 2 ohm tweeter . My question is if i cand use 4 ohm speakers instead of the 2 ohm ones . I found some Audison speakers that match the ohm specs but i'm not that happy with the frequency response and on the other hand i would like to use some speakers from Pioneer that have some amazing specs but the impedance won't match. With all that said i would be more than happy to get some advices from you. Thank you in advance!
A couple days ago I purchased a '24 GTI Autobahn certified used (2000 miles on it.) I test drove it and it was a great experience. I love how it handles, looks, personalization options etc.
Today, I was driving and I was surprised how LOUD and audible the noise from road debris was (dirt, pebbles, etc). It sounded as of the debris was hitting something metallic. I never experienced anything like this on my Passats. I checked underneath the car, but everything looks fine (most of it is covered anyways).
Is this sound normal, have you all experience anything like this before? Am I just freaking out? 😂
Thanks!
Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with the corner lights on my Volkswagen Scirocco (2015).
Also, I’m affected by the clock bug where it displays 00:00. I’ve seen on some subreddits that this issue impacts several models and there’s no official fix yet. I’m not sure if it could be related to my corner lights problem.
Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what could be causing this?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Well not today, but in terms of trivia, I learned some years ago that the B3 Passat was revolutionary in terms of moving the Passat nameplate into the modern era.
Not only being amongst the first production VWs to truly embrace the aero design + monochrome trend, but in terms of safety we take for granted today.
I'd think most of us who are North Americans and had our early years in the 1990s as junior car enthusiasts, would remember that the B3 Passat was sold only with automatic seatbelts as passive restraints from 1989 to 1994 as a 1990-94 model.

Title is wrong. 1993 Passat GLX https://youtu.be/SsUDjlYSbwA?si=Pd3yOuUwE_5DcAG6
The heavy facelift aka B4 introduced in early 1994 as a '95, was the first Passat to have (dual) airbags.

So for years (in terms of innovations trivia), I held the belief that VW's first car equipped with airbags, was either the Golf MK3 in early 1994 or the Passat B4 in Europe (late 1993).

Finding out during some research that the 1 year old Golf Mk3 already got airbags as optional overseas from late 1992 (standard in USA by January 1994 via Puebla builds from 10/93), made me curious about why the Golf would beat the more prestigious Passat to the punch.

German automotive corporate culture favors trickledown in terms of company tech firsts, not the opposite. But seeing as the B3 was entering its last year in late 1992, I figured it wouldn't have made sense to redesign the dashboard for just one year (1992-93). But that VW did, since the new dashboard would be plug and play into the B4 and wouldn't be a waste.
In reality, as VW's flagship offering, the Euro spec Passat VR6 was the first VW with (dual) airbags from August 1992 (1993 model year), using the incoming B4's dashboard. Just like Porsche in 1986 with the 944, VW went full tilt in Europe and didn't just offer one airbag for the driver, but passenger too. (I'm aware the 1990-93 Cabrio had one for driver only).

For some reason, the North American spec 1993-94 MY B3s never got B4 dashboard with airbags and never got the SRS module in the NA spec B4s and kept carryover 1994 B3s as a shortened model year with only autobelts.
Such 1993 B3s are incredibly rare and rare to see in photos, let alone video above.
The in development B5 Passat as you know, came full circle with the upward ascent of the nameplate moving to the Audi (B5 A4) platform shared with the longitudinal AWD (4Motion only) platform.
Pretty long, but found it interesting how Volkswagen of America deprived B3 drivers of a fully equipped VR6 with all the bells and whistles. Guessing it was done to make it easier to sell the new B4 over the bagless B3.
Recently moved so needed to find a new service shop, called closest VW Dealership to schedule oil change and they came back with a list of over $1,000 in services needed?
Car is at about 100KM and according to VW's own schedule none of these things aside for the Standard service are needed at 90,000 at 105,000 it does have Brake Fluid? Thinking I should not take it to this place at all.
Noticed a rattle whenever I close the trunk and figured out it was coming from under the car. My first thought is the exhaust heat shield is loose somewhere because that's what makes the rattle when I hit it directly.
Any thoughts on what it is and how to fix?
does this year of jetta have a governor? what is it set to?
Do I need full-synth or is regular oil fine?
No tuners near me so im just gonna bite the bullet and tune my 02 1.8t myself.
Hello, I recently noticed a rattling noise when travelling over 30mph on smooth but cracked/aged roads. It is a very quick and consistent rattle. It sounds like it’s coming from the ride side of the radio, between the radio and the gauges.
I first heard the noise 1 week after installing and rcd330 radio.
Nothing is loose when removing trim, I also removed the vents and buttons cluster and that was as far as I have got. Has anybody removed the full centre console before? Seemed very hard to pull out the main piece where the handbrake and cup holder is.
While trying to fix this, I dropped one of the torque screws down the back of the radio housing, where I heard it clink on the metal chassis. Will have to remove the centre console to get to this I think. Or get lucky with a flexible magnet.
So, my options seem to be, work out how to remove more trim and retrieve the bolt I dropped (which is arguably louder and more consistent than the original problem) and hopefully find what is wrong with the rattling.
Sell the car or scrap it?
Any advice, thanks
For context, I have a 2013 or 13’ Volkswagen CC Sport. My car currently has an oil leak at the from of the engine near my timing chain. I was told it would be about $4k - $6k to replace. I was told the leak itself is very minor, and leaks a very small amount. Considering my car is worth around this amount due to my mileage, it’s not worth getting fixed. Should I top off my oil every two weeks, or sell it before something major happens? It’s drives very smooth, and is cosmetically sound considering I’ve replaced just about every chrome piece in and around the car. What should I do?
Hi all! Looking at either a 2018 VW Tiguan SEL with 41,000 miles or a 2019 VW Tiguan SEL with 53,000 miles. 2018 has a more comprehensive maintenance history and one owner. Both cars are 4Motion (a must). I plan to hold onto the car as long as possible. Which would you buy?
2018 looks like it was manufactured in October 2018. 2019 looks like it was manufactured around February 2019. So not a major difference.
As the title says. I’m in a situation where I need the front passenger window to work and don’t really need the back one to work. Will swapping them work?
The option to enable it is available in the settings next to the AUX setting but in the media tab SD card CD and bluetooth are grayed out, the car does have a CD slot so I don’t know whats up with that
Hello all,
I plan on driving from the UK to Germany (through France, Belgium & the Netherlands) soon and wondered whether I need headlight stickers on my MK8 Golf. I've seen online that there are options in the menu to change their settings, but I've also seen that I don't need to do anything, as the lights will adjust accordingly.
Thanks in advance!
Recently got the new mk8 golf as a college graduation gift . It’s my third golf I’ve had a mk6 and mk7. I occasionally take my cars to the track or do spirited drives . After my first drive my parents called me in to have a talk with me . They showed me a screen shot of me slightly surpassing the speed limit . I know I shoudlnt be speeding but I’ve had my fair share of golf’s and cars . I just want to know how they knew I sped . It wasn’t a ticket or anything . It was just an app that showed them me speeding with the exact time date and speed . There is no sort of tracker on my phone . It’s something related to the car I briefly checked around under my fenders and didn’t find anything . What do you guys suggest I just wanna know how they knew and where I can find this tracker .
Loving the included features and the way it drives even with the DSG
Hi everyone! Is there any log of when error-messages has occurred in Volkswagen ID3?
