FAQ
Q: Who is considered classic country for this sub?
A: Anybody before 1990. The reason for the is the 90's started a fundamental shift that is still affecting country music today.
If you do want to share some 90's country music, I suggest /r/90sCountry.
Q: How about new songs from classic artists?
A: They may be posted, but will be loosely moderated.
Q: How about new country artists with a classic sound (Sturgill Simpson, Luke Bell, Cody Jinks, ect...)?

I got into his music a few months ago, I think he has a great voice and sings heartfelt songs. My favorite from him has to be "More and More", especially now that I just went through a breakup.
But yeah I think he documented his real life experiences with alcoholism. I can tell with songs like "There Stands the Glass" and "Here I Am Drunk Again". What do you think of him?
I'm getting ready to make a series of bootleg cd compilations featuring obscure, quirky, or strange tracks. 'Kountry Moste Qurios'.
Does anyone have anything they think would fit? (I realize some of these are a bit mainstream, but later volumes will have deeper cuts and yet-unknown artists from my collection)
I'd be particularly interested in songs from women, which my list is lacking.

Happy Halloween
Was listening to Willie's Roadhouse a few months back. I believe it was Dallas Wayne's program in which he plays a lot of older songs.
There was a song, can't remember who the artist was, or lyrics/title. It's driving me crazy. Hoping someone can help.
I just remember throughout the song he kept saying something like, 'you'd better stop/quit' or 'you shouldn't', or 'don't'
Trying to tell someone they shouldn't do something or he cant do something. Like a woman teasing him. Then by the end of the song, he gave in and changed his mind.
Any ideas?
If you’re a musician and love to play classic country, where would you go to find a scene of like minded folks and places to play with an audience ? Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams. Heavy on pedal steel and fiddle.
Some albums like Faron Young’s “Sweethearts or Strangers”, or Marvin Rainwater’s“Songs By Marvin Rainwater”. Maybe some melodic stuff like Mel Tillis’ capitol compilation or the late 50s Webb Pierce. Particularly in the mood for that crooning or the production sounds of Rainwater or Young though!
Hey all! I am not a fan of country music generally speaking but I was raised listening to Patsy Cline and do like her a lot, especially songs like “I Fall to Pieces.” I’m starting to realize that classic country is a lot different (and better) than the current stuff. I discovered the Conway Twitty song “Hello Darlin” and absolutely love it. It’s a beautiful song and he has a phenomenal voice.
I’d love some recommendations for some great classic country love songs, especially the sad ones. Thanks!!
