So when I was younger I used to watch random music videos of Johnny Cash and I vividly remember one of Folsom Prison Blues but can't find it anywhere on YouTube. The key identifier is that the video had a scene where prisoners in white and black stripes are moving around the prison (old sped up footage) and there are scenes of Johnny singing. I also think there is one where during the third verse you see some men playing cards in a smokey train car. I would really appreciate it if someone can help me find the video. If it helps I watched this video like 12 years ago.
So I only know 3 Johnny Cash songs: I Walk the Line, Ring of Fire, and Folsom Prison Blues. I would love to listen to more of his music but not sure where to start.
I'm going to be going to Memphis next year and visiting sun studios and know that he started out there and is one of their famous recording artists. So I want to listen to him before this trip to Memphis. I've also never seen Walk the Line movie either. Would you all recommend it?
It would be helpful if the recommendations are on Spotify as that's how I mainly listen to new music now.
Thank you all! Much appreciated for all your help 😊
I knew of Johnny Cash’s music but never really got into his music until the Hurt video and saw Walk The Line. My wife knows I like his music but she didn’t even know her hometown is about a hour from Dyess Arkansas.
Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's down in the dark will be brought to the light
What was Johnny trying to expose?
One more tribute, for now. The show starts next April. So, I’m trying to fine tune any vocal inflections that may help with the sound. Any and all feedback/criticism is welcome. Thank you! #FolsomPrisonBlues #JohnnyCash
Here’s another tribute to the man in black. Any and all feedback/criticism is appreciated. #IGotStripes #JohnnyCash
Ok here's a tough one. My mother took me to a Johnny Cash show when I was a small kid. Trying to find the date of the show and online databases don't have it. It was in the late 70s or very early 80s. It was a daytime show at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY. The tickets were won on the radio, WFAS. Any help would be appreciated!
AI overview says no, but I don’t really trust AI ya know? Only silly people would believe an AI.
I mean dark both in their sound and their lyrics, the ones that comes to mind are all from his later American albums and others like She Used to Love Me a Lot
Does him performing this exist on video
A bit of a stupid question, but I thought it would be fun to ask.Let's consider the peak of Johnny's popularity as the years 1968-1971
My dad is a huge Johnny Cash fan. I found out that Johnny played on the day he was born, and I’d really like to do something with that for Christmas. (Although I’m not sure what yet, so on another note, ideas are appreciated.) Setlist FM says that he played in Nagoya-Shi Koukaidou, Nagoya, Japan on October 30, ‘75. I’m not sure if this is totally true because I know setlist FM can be wrong a lot, but they don’t have the setlist so if anyone can find it or even tell me a few songs on it, that would be so appreciated. Been surfing the web for a bit and can’t find anything.
I really enjoyed the American Recordings series, especially the later ones. American VI was really good, but American V was my favorite. I like the deeper, slower songs like 1 Corinthians 15:55, Redemption Day, If You Could Read My Mind, Like The 309, Down There By The Train, Casey's Last Ride (especially the original version by Kris Kristofferson)
