Actor,Musician and SongWriter Kris Kristofferson is a US Army Captain and Helicopter Pilot and also is a US Army Ranger with all courses completed.
Kristofferson, under pressure from his family, joined the U.S. Army, was commissioned as a second lieutenant and attained the rank of captain. He became a helicopter pilot after receiving flight training at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He also completed Ranger School. During the early 1960s, he was stationed in West Germany as a member of the 8th Infantry Division. During this time, he resumed his music career and formed a band. In 1965, after his tour in Germany ended, Kristofferson was given an assignment to teach English literature at West Point. Instead, he decided to leave the Army and pursue songwriting. His family disowned him because of his career decision; sources are unclear on whether they reconciled. They saw it as a rejection of everything they stood for, although Kristofferson says he is proud of his time in the military and received the Veteran of the Year Award at the 2003 American Veterans Awards ceremony.
In some live versions of The Pilgrim Chapter 33, some of the words to the last chorus are changed. 'Picker' to 'liar', 'partly truth and partly fiction' to 'partly truth but mostly fiction', and 'pusher' to...what? It sounds kind of like 'dreamer', 'creeper', 'griever', or 'drinker'. I think drinker would make the most sense, but that's also what it sounds the least like. I'm wondering if anyone knows what the actual word he sings is?
I got really hung up on the lyrics in the second verse: Who would have thought the Arabs would have bought the USA only to give it to the Jews.
Does anyone have any context for this song or lyric?
With Kris's birthday also came news of a new album, Kris Kristofferson Live at Gilly's, which releases September 2nd this year.

Anyways, here's to another year to our favorite singer and songwriter!
Just found this sub and though it doesn't seem very active I figured I may as well ask everyone here a question.
The official Kris Kristofferson website (https://kriskristofferson.com) has a store page, which says that the official Kris Kristofferson Online Store is coming soon. Does anyone know if the store is an actual thing in development or is rather just an empty page that is going to remain empty?
Hey all, just joined and thought I'd say hello. looks like not much is going on with this reddit.....but like one of the earlier posters said that can change either. I am a bootleg collector looking for places to trade and grow my collection. I currently have 25 or so shows from the late 80s till the retirement show on Outlaw Cruise 5 (NOT the way an artist like this should call it a career!). Anyone up for trading some shows.
I know this subreddit is not very active - I hope that changes someday - but I decided to put together an unabridged - to my knowledge - discography of the great Kris Kristofferson, integrating albums with non-album songs. Have yourself a marathon if you so choose, and I hope some find it useful.

Today i was listing to "Gettin' By, high and strange" Kris laughed at one point in the song, never cared to figure out why. Well right before that laugh. I thought the speaker's on my phone had water in or on them or something but I could not understand the sound I heard till I re-listend to the song about a hundred times Kris rips ass on the recording at 2:08 Low bass
" The narrow path open to a highway that’s wide, When you make room for angels kicking devils aside. His demons were many he beat with his song. I think his name is Kris, but then I could be wrong. "
