So like the title says I'm pretty apprehensive about things I've never done and this is a bit out of my scope (I think). But I've watched some videos and hopefully not messing up anything too dramatically.
My parts list is here
Hi,
I am going to build a new pc and since my old pc had fans pre built, I have no idea about fans.
Is a fan setup like this good? 3 reverse fans on the side, 3 reverse fans (AIO) at the bottom and 2 normal fans at the rear
I just did a major upgrade/ new build.
AMD 9900X MSI X870P wifi And my old 3070 along with hdds and ssds For what its worth, im running a sata expansion pci card on slot 4
I bought 2 kits of corsair 6400 2x32GB sticks AND 2 kits of corsair 6000 2x32GB sticks. I know its not advised, but i didnt have issues doing this on ddr4 systems in the past and wanted 128GB of ram. Although im thinking it might be overkill.
I tried first with the 6400 kits and could boot and run great with xmp turned off. This kit doesnt have an expo profile.
After a week of using this kit without being able to post with xmp or any of the memory try it settings, i decided to try the other kit.
The 6000 kit can boot at memory try it of 5600, but the cpu score in timespy went down. From about 45fps to 43fps. Odd.
I also noticed that my cpu temp is lower now.
I havent had much time yet to mess with this new kit, but any ideas why the cpu temp would go down witb different ram? Cooler was not removed when changing ram.
Hey, I want to build a pc for the first time myself - is the website pc part picker accurate when it comes to compatibility? Are there any other tools like this? Anything to be wary of?

So I have a legion tower 5 that I have upgraded and part of that upgrade was ram. I installed two sticks of DDR4 16gb Corsair Vengeance ram that is supposed to run at 3200. Instead it runs at 2133 and my motherboard does not support XMP. What would I have to do or replace to get it to run at the correct speed. Would DOCP work with my pc?
Cpu R7 5700G
GPU Radeon RX 6750XT
I believe I have a 850 wat psu? It is also Corsair
Ram 2x16gb Corsair Vengeance (I also have two 8GB sticks of ram but I took them out to try and fix the corsair ram)
MOBO is T550 that comes with the pc
I've found a used system (R5 2400G,16GB RAM,RX 550), that I am planning to buy for £165 GBP. I will then flip the RX 550 for £40, and contribute some of my own extra funds to get a RX 6500 XT. Total cost for the PC: £220 and the most solid upgrade path one can get (AM4).
question
I read online that kingston ram is good but im not sure of it would be compatible. Im using a g.skill trident z right now but one of them broke so im planning to replace them.
Recently, my computer started crashing randomly. When I pressed the power button, it wouldn’t turn on, but the RAM sticks were still lighting up. I tried everything—reapplying thermal paste to the CPU, replacing the RAM, removing the GPU from the riser cable, and even unplugging the hard drive. Eventually, I was left with just the power supply to inspect.
When I took the PSU out, I noticed some rattling, and when I flipped it over, a few screws fell out. It turns out that my ASUS Thor 1200W PSU has a feature that shuts it down automatically if it detects a short circuit. This safety measure was what caused my PC to crash randomly.
If you have a high-quality PSU, it probably has this feature too, so if you’re dealing with similar issues, this might be worth checking!
Hey guys, I'm gonna make it short. I am a new PC builder, I need a more strong gaming pc as I have a gaming laptop (RTX 4070) and a PS5. I was selecting the parts of my PC on pcpartpicker.com .I loved the Lian Li O11 Compact Case build setup from DanKamYouKnow (https://youtube.com/shorts/R0N7wGb4sMQ?si=nzxyFWf-9L5c1dyP) and decided to make the black one.
I have come this far https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LcfQ6Q but its showing a compatibility error, of fans I guess I don't know (I even tried to understand the airflow from looking the fans and got confused by looking another video of same type PC build) and the no. of fans I counted were 6x reverse fans and 2x reverse fans on the front (Dan described the positions but I am still confused in front side rear), please tell me why pcpartpicker is showing error as I added the same amount of fans as Dan added in his PC build. Any help would be appreciated
Upgraded my PC and somehow lost a cpu power cable to my EVGA Supernova G+ 1300W. I found a CPU power cable in a box from a EVGA Supernova GT 650W. Anyone know if it would be safe to use it in my 1300W? I know that sometimes the pin layouts differ on the PSU but i’m having a hard time finding documentation on that to confirm. Thank you
I have 32 gig ddr5 6000mhz and I’m putting in 32 more so I’ll have 4 sticks total. I didn’t build the pc so idk if this it true but I heard sometimes there are some things you need to tweak when first installing new ram for it to work properly. What would that be?
I just swapped my 13600kf for a 9800x3d and ran 3DMark cpu profile.
I noticed i would rank consistently between the top 38% to 41% for every kind of threads on my 9800x3d in the worldwide rankings, except for 8 threads where i rank top 18%.
Is there any reason why 8 threads would perform so much better compared to other types of threads on my CPU ?
These are the parts I’ve purchased so far for my first build. (Yes, way too much on the motherboard). Pretty decent so far? I’m going to run the new AMD CPU.
Bit of a long shot I'm assuming but I'm doing a project with my old laptop which has a intel i5 4210m CPU, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a cooler that would fit the socket, I came across this one https://www.onlogic.com/uk/store/jacdd01c-1/ but wanted see if anyone knew of other options before I commit
The plan is for the motherboard to come out of the casing so I'm not really looking for anything that needs to fit within the laptop, however it ideally wouldn't be huge. Just something that will be better than the standard copper pipes and fan the laptop has.
I recently purchased a Corsair H150 RGB, 360mm Water Cooler (New in the box) for my I7 14700KF and would like to know when I need to worry about changing the liquid (If it is every 5-12 months), what type of liquid to use (if it is a mixture) and of course, maintain it.
Hello, I'm interested in buying a new computer because the one I have now is not very good for CS2. I play at around 100 FPS which is not stable, FPS drops often and I have problems when playing some maps. When I enter smoke and shoot or want to break smoke with a bomb the FPS drops to 30. My budget is around 766€ ($800). I would like to have around 200-300FPS.
I already found one so I'm interested in your opinion:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
Motherboard: Asus Prime A520M-K
Ram: 32 GB, DDR4, 3200 MHz
SSD: 500 GB, M.2 NVMe
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060 12 GB DDR6 192 bit, PCI-ex 3.0, DirectX 12
Power supply: Inter Tech 720W
Case: MS ARMOR V315
I have the m2_1 slot occupied with a Samsung 990 pro PCIE 4.0 nvme m.2 SSD.
I tried both the m2_2 & m2_3 slots with my Western Digital 1TB WD Blue 3D NAND Internal PC SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s, M.2 2280
The computer won't recognize the drive in either slot.
I have tried having the PCIE_2 slot occupied by my capture card and WITHOUT and it still is not recognized.
I have 2 SATA drives (HDD & SSD) and they both are recognized. I have also tried having them unplugged and my Western Digital M.2 SSD is still not being recognized.
I also updated the BIOs (v3.16) and still the western digital m.2 is not being recognized.
I consulted the manual for this motherboard and the only issues I saw was that the PCIE_2 will be disabled of the m2_3 slot is occupied.
I am at a total loss and think the motherboard is just broken at this point. Is there a BIOs setting that I am missing? Wondering if any others are having a similar issue. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hello, reddit! I'm not an expert when it comes to hardware, so I went here to ask, what GPU will i be able to upgrade to in about, lets say half a year with a ryzen 5 5600x. I'm currently upgrading my PC and the budget is pretty tight (rn i dont have the money to buy a new gpu and monitor), and the cpu of my choice was ryzen 5 5600x. Currently I have Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 which the bottleneck calculator says there will be no issues with, as well as a 1080p monitor. However when I try to pick the graphics card models which people regularly suggest with 5600x it says that the cpu is to weak. My budget for future gpu upgrades is about 400 dollars maximum and I DEFINITELY don't have the money to upgrade both the gpu and buy a new monitor. Any advice on what gpu to choose or should I buy a more powerful cpu( which is definitely not a great option as my wallet isn't that big). Thank you
Hi everyone,
I recently built a PC with the following specs :
CPU | AMZ Ryzen 5 7600X |
---|---|
Motherboard | MSI PRO B650M-A WIFI ( DDR5) |
CPU Air Cooler | Deepcool Gammaxx AG400 ARGB CPU Air |
RAM | TeamGroup T-Force Vulcan 16GB (16GBx1) DDR5 5200MHz |
GPU | Zotac RTX 4070 Twin Edge 12GB |
SSD | Crucial P3 Plus 1TB M.2 NVMe Gen4 |
PSU | Corsair CX750 750 Watt 80 Plus Bronze |
Cabinet | Ant Esports ICE-410TG ARGB |
The motherboard has 2 JARGB_V2 connectors (3 pins) named JARGB_V2_1 and JARGB_V2_2 . The CPU air cooler's RGB cable is connected to JARGB_V2_1 which is working fine. The cabinet comes with 4 ARGB fans (3 Front, 1 back) and their rgb cable is plugged on the JARGB_V2_2 (i.e. the circled connector on the lower side of the motherboard as shown in the image below).
PROBLEM : Whenever i am doing anything which involves load on the GPU (playing CS2, Valorant, running overclock scanner or benchmarks), the cabinet fans' RGB light starts flickering. As soon as GPU utilization is down, the argb on the cabinet fans starts behaving normally as per the style set in MSI Center (or turns off if set to Off in MSI center). If anyone has any idea on how and what to check or change, I'd be highly thankful.
Also, don't know if it's relevant but when I was using both ARGB cables (Cabinet-fans & CPU air cooler)on the same JARGB_V2_1 connector (Air cooler was plugged onto an extender provided in the Cabinet-fan's cable), the cabinet fans' rgb was working fine but air cooler's RGB was continuously flickering. Since i have separated, normally both the RGB lightings are working fine except the case mentioned.
Thank you.
Going for a mostly white look preferably with some pink or light blue neon. Still need a heatsink and monitor tho. Going for 1440p gaming at a minimum. Been loving reading up on builds here! Cant post to buildapcforme for some reason
I don’t have enough space so one fan is slightly higher than it should be. Is than an issue?
Cpu: Ryzen 7900x
So I have two 1tb NVMe SSDs and one is much faster than the other. For reference one is a WD black SN850x and the slower one is a MSI SPATIUM M450.
Should I install windows in the SN850x? or should I install it in the slower M450 and use the SN850x as a dedicated drive for games?
When playing games such as Phasmophobia for example my gpu reaches temps of 93-98 degrees it’s a RTX 2060 I have already cleaned the fans and they are spinning fine is this a problem and what should I do ?
Hi! I’m new to this community and was looking for help! I’ve switched from Xbox to PC and bought my friends pc off them. Was wondering what I should upgrade to make this thing run faster and to handle games with heavy mods. I literally have zero knowledge and willing to learn what to upgrade!
Wobbly hdmi port on mobo and a messed up usbc port in the case is there a way to repair these things or should I just buy a new case and mobo
The kid convinced her mother to buy her everything for a PC build for her to play "games", while I was adamant that she should get a gaming laptop because she doesn't game that much and it would be perfect to take with her
Anyway, were here now and I want to know what's the best way to put Windows onto this machine?
Should I just clone my current windows OS onto the new SSD or is it better to buy it new and load it using a Flash drive?
Thanks in advance!
I am planning to upgrade my pc to 14700f should i wait for the bartlett lake core 7 cpus and also did bartlett lake canceled or it is still going?
