Hi everyone,
I’d love some advice on building a new PC. My main goal is to make it easily upgradeable over time as components become outdated, so modularity and compatibility are important to me.
The most demanding task I do is audio production. I run multiple VSTs simultaneously, use virtual instruments triggered by MIDI, and rely heavily on processing power and RAM. I also dabble in photography (using Lightroom) and light video editing (in DaVinci Resolve), but these aren’t as intensive for me. Occasionally, I game—mostly titles like League of Legends and Overwatch, which aren’t too demanding.
Some additional notes:
I’d really appreciate your help in putting this build together. Thanks in advance!
Made a post some time ago and really appreciated all the wonderful feedback from both here and r/buildapc . Didn't want to post it over there since I'm asking for multiple components.
My wonderful wife was able to secure one of the new Intel B580's for me that weren't sold out (or overpriced), and that set me up for success.
Budget would be about $600 (after GPU) but have room to fluctuate if needed. Would like to play Warframe (probably the most graphic-intensive game I play nowadays) at a stable 60FPS.
I'm looking at heading up to Microcenter today and grabbing one of these AMD bundles (with the upgraded MOBO and RAM packages, unless y'all think it's not worth it):
Is the 9600 a worthy upgrade to the 7600? The clock speed is lower but the "turbo" speed is higher and it's Zen5 (I have no clue what the different is), I'm rather new to this and not sure if it matters that much. Coming from an i7-860 so I'm sure anything would be a big upgrade.
The overall build I'll link here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/74dW4p . Not sure if it's good for what I'm looking for or the parts are quality. If I can pick up some more stuff at Microcenter that's not overpriced I would definitely be down to do that, too.
Case isn't on PCPartPicker, a very similar one with poor reviews is on there though. I'm looking at: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CQSXHZPJ/ . It looks like it has good reviews and can fit the fans and stuff I've picked but have no idea if it's any decent.
Thank you in advance! I really appreciate all the help and suggestions everyone has given me! Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
Looking to update my current pc
Atm im running
32gb ddr4 i5-12600 850+ gold psu 3070ti
Looking to go ddr5 and only keep the gpu/psu. This is for design work. Ty!
Howdy guys, since Im not from the US and therefore buying the parts for a new PC through amazon adds a $650 tax, I was thinking about buying a prebuilt in my country, so here it is:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X (16 CPU de 3.4GHz hasta 4.6GHz)
COOLER: MasterLiquid ML240L V2 RGB White
Mother Board: ASROCK B450M/AC - WiFi
GRAPH: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16GB GDDR6
RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz (2x16GB)
Storage: Solid SSD 1TB NVMe Kingston NV2
Case: CoolerMaster MasterBox MB520 White
3 120mm Fans
POWER SUPPLY: MSI MAG A750BN PCIE5 80Plus Bronze (ATX3.0)
All this for the price of $1946, how bad is it?
Hi All, my MoBo is failing and I need a replacement, and I would appreciate some suggestions.
Budget: Around $300AUD
Usage: A lot. Gaming, video editing, 3D animation, all that fun stuff.
Preferences: Wouldn't mind something more white than black, but I know those are harder to come by so I'm not picky.

Alright, so first off budget is not a problem for me but I figure since I do not care for fancy stuff that's more than enough as stated and lower is better, over is to be considered.
I know a little but not enough about building a PC that I feel confident about doing this on my own, I am pretty sure it will end up being a fire hazard...
OS: Windows
Country: France
Peripherals: For the sake of ending debates over resolutions, no. I'll handle that part myself, do not worry about it!
For processor I was leaning towards AMD
For GPU towards RTX 4080 to 4090
32gb of ram is enough, 64gb why not, not the priority
In my current setup I will need a wifi card
I do not care for RBG, fine if it's there and easy to control, if it's going to be a nightmare I'd rather pass
Something that is going to irritate some of you I think, I do not want anything to do with water cooling, yes I do understand that it is slightly better, but slightly better is just not convincing me to pass that threshold
EDIT: It appears we have a disagreement on what a budget means. This is as much as I am willing to spend, it does not mean I need to spend this much money, but I am here to build a PC that will last, not a PC that will do good now, but will be irrelevant in one generation.
Good day good people🫡
This will be my first build and I’m so overwhelmed with options.
What I’m using this PC for:
My budget is <$1,000 including peripherals.
Let me know your thoughts on how I should build this!
Hi
I would like to build a pc for playing all the new and upcoming games. I would use my 24" 144hz monitor for this. Can you recommend me a build with AMD card. No overclocking.
My budget is 800€ and I live in Finland. No need for mouse, keyboard or monitor - just the hardware.
Will be using my current ssd.

Hey guys would really appreciate the help! First time pc builder here, I’ve been saving up for a while and I’m finally ready. I’m looking for a gaming pc to comfortably stream from as well. I like having a lot of camera angles so I’m hoping for a build that can accommodate a fair amount of usb-c ports for Sony cameras (or a workaround that doesn’t include a handful of capture cards).
I’m looking for a white build, aesthetics and RGB are very important! I’d like to stay with AMD CPU wise.
Some items I’ve already thought about but not sold to are:
CPU: AMD 9800x3d Mother board: Asus ROG STRIX X870-A Case: o11 vision Fans: Lian Li lcd uni fans
Any help is very much appreciated! Thanks in advance
Hello r/buildmeapc community,
I'm planning to upgrade my PC to better accommodate my needs, which include coding, gaming, and running multiple resource-intensive applications simultaneously. Here's my current setup and requirements:
Current Components:
Upgrade Requirements:
Additional Information:
I'm particularly unsure about whether to retain my current RAM or upgrade to a different specification. Any advice on this, as well as the other components, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
New build or upgrade?
New Build
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 super Windforce OC
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/ games) -Gaming triple A titles and new releases as well as some older games
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors)
United States
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
I don't really have a strict budget whatever the remaining components cost I am willing to pay
• WiFi or wired connection?
-Wired
• Size noise constraints?
• Color/lighting preferences?
• Any other specific needs?
I'd like 32gb of ram, 2tb of storage, and a 7800x3d for the cpu.
I want from Amazon. Nvidia gpu. Getting the Koorui 24e3 idc abt resolution( this monitor is also cheap ill take a higher res if its the same price tho) I want cheap speakers with built in microphone in it if possible. Here’s the build I made.

Also if you're the guy who I worked with previously on this sub you were an immense help.Thank you 🙏
Hi guys posted here a few days ago and now I'm back with a little more knowledge. Ive come up with this build and was wondering if I can get some pointers that'll improve it or anything to help.
My budget is around 1200 USD max and this is what I came up with. I am planning on purchasing this Bundle from micro center and everything else from amazon or other sellers online. Total came up to a little less than $1200 and I am pretty happy with it but not sure if it'll work so I'm here to ask the professionals. PC Build
Hello, I was planning on getting a Lian Le A3 mATX case with 2 Be Quiet 120m shadows wing fans for my future build is that enough? I have a dedicated CPU cooler as well. The Be Quiet pure rock 2
Im trying to build a new pc that’s gonna be used mostly for playing games like Fortnite, Modded Minecraft, and marvel rivals, my budget is like $1300~, but I can go a bit over, I also need accessories however like a mouse, keyboard, and monitor. I don’t live near a micro center as well, with the nearest being a 2 hour drive away
Hello, my budget is $2500 and I mainly want the best possible graphics. Is that going to be enough for 4k for modern games?
Hello I do voice over work for YouTube and I noticed my fans are really noticeable during my recordings and editing them out takes away from the quality of my audios is there any way I can soundproof my pc without it getting overheated?
Hi I am trying to build a PC for Graphic Design work and gaming. My budget is 1400-1600
Please let me know if I am overspending in some areas or If some parts may not be compatible.
PCpartpicker is saying that the RAM may not be compatible with the CPU cooler.
444 is the estimated wattage.
Build:
AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 4.5 GHz 8-Core Processor - $283.99
Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler - $37.90
MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard - $149.99
Silicon Power Value Gaming 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory - $79.98
TEAMGROUP MP44L 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive - $101.99
Gigabyte WINDFORCE OC GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12 GB Video Card - $599.99
Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower Case - $74.98

AOC Q27G3XMN 27.0" 2560 x 1440 180 Hz Monitor - $249.99
TOTAL : $1668.80
I have never used a PC, my budget is around 2k or a little over that. I want it to run well for gaming and editing, but also look nice for the aesthetics :) I rlly wanna know what other parts are compatible with this cooler NZXT Kraken 360 RGB.
Never built a PC before and am overwhelmed with information and specs, but am hoping I can do it with y’all’s help.🫶
My ideal budget would be around 800 dollars. Could go over a bit but really would like to stay as low as possible as I’m not a heavy gamer. I have a mouse and keyboard. I also have 2 old dell monitors (2319H) I’m hoping can work until I can upgrade them, is that possible compatibility-wise? If not possible, I will need a monitor included in the build.
I would be wanting to run sims (with mods+cc), Fortnite, Elden Ring, Stardew Valley, Hogwarts Legacy and maybe some other games at some point. I’d want to be able to use voice and video on discord but don’t really care about streaming. Reliability over aesthetics, with options to upgrade over time is my goal.
Nearest micro center is 2 hours away, but may be willing to make the drive if it makes a big enough difference.
All tips on the physical building aspect would be greatly appreciated too!
Edit: I don’t know if this is helpful or even relevant (very uneducated on this) but the monitor input rating is: 50/60Hz
Its my first time getting/building a proper dedicated gaming pc so I have absolutely no idea were to start or what to get, the only real game I use pc for is HOI4 which is CPU heavy, my budget is around 350-400 euro, preferably from EU countries to save on money
thanks for any help in advance
I plan on gifting my friend a gaming PC so he can play games with me on stream. Ideally I want it to start off being able to play most games on good settings and then he will have to option to upgrade it in the future. My ideal budget is around 500-600$, but I can go over if it makes sense to do so. I live next to a microcenter and the PC will mainly be used for gaming.
I built a gaming PC 10 or 11 years ago and it has been amazing. It's starting to die and I want to build a new one.
I don't really game anymore. So I don't know if I need a serious GC. I want to be able to stream 4K, have 30 firefox tabs open, and maybe run some basic games (like poly bridge 2 or bridge constructor), but nothing crazy. I want to be able to plug in 3 monitors, but I will usually use only 2. I have all the peripherals. I would prefer built in Wifi, a 1 TB SSD, 32 gigs of RAM.
I really just want a PC I can browse the web and watch youtube/Netflix/NFL with for the next 10 years. I can spend up to $1,000, but do I need to? If I can get away with less that would be ideal. However, I do want it to have the hardware last for 10 years. So if you would recommend spending a little more I am open to it.
I would really appreciate any recommendations you all might have. I will likely be going to a microcenter to buy these parts and possibly paying them to assemble it (not part of the ~$1,000 budget).
Also at this point should I go for windows 11 professional? I hear it sucks, but it sounds like there's going to be no option soon.
Thank you.
My budget is up to $6000Aud not including peripherals. Im after a PC focusing on work but still capable of playing games in my (lack of) free time.
Ideally it would need to run 3d modelling software smoothly and be able to edit videos and photography too.
As for games it would be mainly FPS but occasional Racing Sim games too. It'd be a bonus if it could run VR.
I have found a prebuilt around my budget but thought I'd get better value for my money if I built my own.

Thank you!
Edit: little to No RGB is preffered
hii! i've been a gaming laptop user for years now however after a lot of recommendation, i've decided to invest in a pc setup this time around to see if i like it more and have better luck with it! (for context, every gaming laptop i've had's battery has completely blown within a year!), i'm not too knowledgeable on pc setups though!
does anyone have any brand / specific items or just general recommendations for this kind of setup? i'm from the uk and my budget is most likely at £1100 / £1200 but would possibly go over if necessary! thanks in advance! :)
I’m looking for a prebuilt that would deliver in time for Christmas. Looking for a 40 series gpu and a decent cpu of any brand.
I’m looking to build a PC that I can stream League of Legends from. My goal is to have 1080p gameplay with 250fps while streaming 1080p 60fps gameplay to Twitch. I would also like to have Discord, OBS, Spotify, and Chrome open and running while doing this (pref without my system being too stressed). My budget is $1000-1500 but I’d prefer to keep it around $1000-2000.
I live near a Microcenter.
The only games I really play are Legaue of Legends and Valorant, so I know CPU is more important than GPU for these games. However, I am not sure what performance to expect from what hardware.
I don’t need anything besides the PC itself factored into the budget. Can I meet my performance goals at this budget? I know some amount about computer parts, the part I’m really lost at is choosing the right CPU and GPU for my build to get the performance results I want. If there are multiple options that maybe change the price point, I’d be interested in that too.
I also do own a new Phantom Spirit CPU cooler, but I can return that if there’s a better CPU cooler for the CPU that suits my needs best. Thanks.
