Curious as I’ve been unable to locate what this is. If anyone knows it’s this group.
After you first crank up the vehicle and put in drive, after a second before you really get going it sound like an electronic shifter or gear mechanism clicking for just a split second. Sounds like a Decepticon getting ready to speak and then it goes away.
Will record and post, but it’s every time you crank the vehicle. Curiosity has gotten the best of me.
Hi everybody. My husband and I have the Prospeed rack with an Insipried Overland RTT on our 4runner. We took it out first the first time and everything was great but on the way home we noticed a rattling sound. Turns out that because the front of the rack is just adhesive the wind/speed/highway made it come detach from the weather stripping. We tried cutting out the rubber thinking it might adhere better to metal, but the mounting bracket doesn’t fit in the channel.
How have other’s with a similar setup handled this? Apparently there are no racks for the 4runner that bolt into the front anymore? My husband is thinking aboutbdrilling holes himself and DIY-ing it. Has anybody done this &/or is there something we need to look out for doing that?
My 4Runner spent a full day at the airport parking lot and when I get to it, the vehicle won’t turn on. Initial thought was battery drain from a light on but no lights were on. Tried to jump it, nothing. Took the battery to get checked, said it was in perfect condition. (2023 ORP, 13K miles)
Had Toyota roadside tow it to my local dealership where they proceed to run diagnostics and the service rep then tells me that the Range Sensor/Neutral Safety Switch was missing and/or Stolen. He then says that it’s not covered by warranty and the part is in back order.
Is there a market for that part being stolen like the catalytic converters are? I find it very odd.
Any suggestions on having it covered by warranty?
Hey All! As the tagline says, I currently have a 2013 Taco SR5 4x4 and I've been looking to upgrade into an SUV. I previously had a Highlander that I ended up giving to my wife which she has upgraded into a newer one now. With 2 kids and looking to get a large dog in the near future, I think the seating capacity of my taco has seen its day. There are some comforts that come with an SUV as well that I'd love to see.
Here's what I don't get. US News, Car and Driver and places like that, rank the 4Runner the worst midsize SUV on the market. It's crazy to me because we're a Toyota family and in our experience if you take care of them, they take care of you.
Any reasons you wouldn't buy a 4Runner again? Why such a bad rap?
Currently have Toyo mts but looking at the km3s
Anyone have experience with both?
I drive a Passat right now. The lengths are similar. But 4 runner is 3 1/2” wider. I might only have an inch and a half clearance. This might make backing in to the garage too difficult. Any experienced advice?
Im working on ordering parts for a stereo upgrade from the factory non-JBL.
Has anyone used this wire harness PAC LPHTY02 LocPro Advanced T-Harness on a 2024 4Runner.
Im adding speakers to the driver and passenger side Pioneer TS-A693CH and an AMP Clarion XC2410
Let me know if this passes the sniff test? Ill let a local installer do the work but wanted to see if anyone has a good system that they can share.
Im just looking to level up the OEM sound...i dont need a rocking system just want things to be clear when I jam on the highway or when i roll down all the windows and go crusing
Hey guys. New to this subreddit so I hope this post is alright. Also a new owner of a 2018 4Runner SR5 Premium that I am very happy with.
I got the car with some damage at the back, enough to need to change the entire hatch lid. I found one with the same paint code at a shop that is worth getting. My only question is if the 2015 hatch will fit fine on the 2018 4Runner? My understanding is that there weren't many changes between these years, but I figured I'd check before driving out there to pick it up.
Thanks.
Took the family up to Big Bear for some camping. Got down to the 20s at night, buddy heater wouldn’t work. Luckily we had enough insulation and made for an awesome family memory.
I've been thinking about the best way to mount a rear facing dash cam but, as you know, the rear window rolls up and down. Have any of you found a rear-dash cam ? Probably going to have to mount an external one. Curious how others may have done this.
They're recommending full engine replacement. Labor would be $3200, total cost including engine would be upwards of $7k. Seems pretty excessive to me, not only in their quoted cost but related to the actual value of the car. Any other options? I took it in cause I had a cylinder misfiring and lots of knocking/rough idle/CEL come on despite changing the spark plugs 20k ago.
The black paint on the roof rails of my ‘03 is in rough shape. It’s pretty faded and peeling in one spot as seen in the picture. Does anyone have any tips to remedy this? I’ve considered vinyl wrapping them but wanted to see if anyone else has a good remedy. DIY preferred.
First of all, gratitude.
I’m looking a 2018 TRD PRO. Aside from the Toyota words in the front, TRD Pro on the side panels, and red stitching on the seats.
What other give aways tell you that it’s a Pro?
I have a 2020 5th gen 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium and my initial set of KO2s need to be replaced at 55k miles. I decided on the Falken Wildpeaks AT3W. I was wondering if anyone could suggest which load rating would be better for me - C or D?
For context, the only mods I have made are a Toytec lift, Magnuson supercharger, rear ladder, and roof rack. I live in Colorado and do some off roading (easy/green to moderate/blue trails) but also value on road performance ofc.
I’m currently on 265/70R17 KO2 size and probably will end up keeping that size for the wilpeaks. Would appreciate any insight on which load rating would be ideal.
This is all pretty speculative util actual pricing is released, but I wonder if it will be "worth it"? The aftermarket stuff it comes with is all nice, but will it be one of those things where you could just buy an ORP and build it up for cheaper, while having more flexibility in what you actually put on it (the roof rack on it looks nice, for example, but I'd definitely prefer one that covers the entire roof).
I mean before they are even at dealerships, when the trucks are at port, having just arrived from Japan. I remember seeing a few people that mentioned this. Is this true? They had some rubbing with some models when getting them off the ships, so they just trimmed any TRD Pro that was on the ship?
I recently installed some fox 2.0 performance series w/ reservoirs; going over bumps the front eats it like butter but the rear feels worse than stock. I’ve looked everywhere to try a find a fix to this but can’t seem to find a discussion on this.
So I got my oil changed yesterday and when I got to work today I noticed that the sound of some kind of pump that I usually hear when I shut it off is gone. Any ideas what is going on? Should I avoid driving for now?
