4TH GEN looks awesome, but this is just timeless and aged so damn well.
I have a choice between Underground or Bronze Oxide. Have not seen the bronze in person yet. Anybody with Bronze Oxide, does it show swirls/scratches easily? Also, how noticeable is the orange peel on the bottom 1/8 of the doors? Can you notice it?
When I was out looking last weekend at Tacoma‘s, I noticed that a white Tacoma showed the thicker orange peel towards the bottom of the door more than the darker underground.
Can’t wait to join the crew!!!!
Thanks!
I have a 2013 Tacoma and just recently my driver side blinker has gone out. The taillight blinker still works. I personally don’t like the headlights that are on it and am wanting to make the switch to white LEDs. I am a college student so budget isn’t high. Any recommendations on headlights? Or would it be possible/easier to switch the bulbs to white LED’s while fixing the blinker?
Bought this ‘15 in 2017 with 4k miles. I’ve only made some cosmetic changes, newer tires, and regular maintenance. Still only 60k+ miles on it and I love it, but seeing the gen 4 trd pros is making me consider upgrading or just buying another and keeping old faithful. Just looking for input. Any experience with the new gen 4s? I’ve watched more YouTube than I’ll admit but I prefer the harsh Reddit experience.
I haven’t been shy about my disdain for the new Tacoma’s. As anyone driven the new Frontier yet?
If you bought a 2025 Taco over the Nissan Frontier your reasons for the choice would be interesting to hear.
I haven’t driven the Frontier yet.
Live in snow country and every now and then I accidentally activate the windshield wipers after accidentally leaving the wipers down in a snowstorm. The metal post built into the motor is softer metal than the wiper arm that attaches to it, resulting in stripping the post out when the wipers are frozen to the windsheild. I have temp fixed this before by placing a small strip of metal between the motor post and wiper arm, and retightening the wiper arm bolt. Does anyone know of a brand or motor that has posts made of harder metal so it doesn’t strip out? I realize this is probably engineered to strip so it doesn’t destroy the motor but the whole thing has to be replaced anyway of the post strips out anyway (based on the research I have done). Further, I’m amazed that the the motors do not have a strain limit or something that cuts the wiper motor’s effort if I reaches a strain threshold. Any ideas? 2014 4x4 Tacoma Double Cab SR5
Anyone recommend these?
My 1st gen Tacoma 4x4 has AT tires on it right now. I'd like to get a second set of wheels with some decent street tires instead, for better pavement grip & to reduce wear on the ATs. Trouble is, they tend to be much lower profile: the tires on my Subaru are only 98mm deep, half the Taco's. I'd like to keep as close to factory as possible in the total diameter, so the speedometer & odometer are correct, but it's been hard to find the right combination of wheels & tires without spending a fortune. Anyone have suggestions for a combo that would work well?
Proud of my new tires haha, but after gutting the liner, still getting some rubbing when going up a curb too fast on a turn (turn only). Was considering a 1.25” spacer puck up front as a gap between now and maybe doing a lift later on (saving my coins). Curious if there’s something I’m missing or should be considering.
Has anyone done a high clearance/viper cut on a 2.5 gen? Any tips pictures and ideas welcome:)
Lots of talk about the 4cyl Turbo and questions about longevity. This is how you are supposed to drive any car with a Turbo:
To properly warm up a turbo, gently drive the car for a few minutes until the engine reaches operating temperature, avoiding heavy acceleration until the oil is fully warmed up; to cool down a turbo, after a hard drive, let the engine idle for a minute or two to allow the oil to continue circulating and cool down the turbo before shutting it off completely
Nobody does this and the heat from the Turbo will cause engine parts to wear out or the Turbo itself to break down.
I'm so confused with the amount of packages on the 2nd gen, I can't find a definitive list of them all with the different features. Does anybody have a definitive rundown of the trim levels?
Has anyone noticed an issue when stopping at a stop light, after coming to a complete stop, vehicle will want to slowly creep forward and you need to press a little harder on the brake pedal. If you don't pay attention, you will creep into the vehicle in front of you. I am in the TSB range.
I’ve owned my 21 OR since March and as of the past month or so my remote start stopped working. Now that it’s getting cold out, I’d like to get it running again but I’m not sure what to do. I verified that I shouldn’t need a subscription to run it from the fob and that it is factory installed on my truck. I called the dealership and they said that it would certainly be under warranty and they set me up an appointment. After driving 40 minutes up and getting there I had talked to three people and found someone who said that they would take a look at it. Then it turns out they needed to call someone at Toyota and unfortunately that department was closed on Saturdays. They said that they’ve had a few Tacomas & 4Runners come in that week with the same problem. Also now they’re not sure if it’s under warranty or not to fix it. Is this a Toyota issue and something that they screwed up through an update or something? I honestly think whatever it is, it’s on them. What should my next steps be in tackling this issue?
2007 that’s lived a hard life in the beginning (me beating the crap out of it off-road). Now it’s my work truck and it keeps kicking. Best truck I have ever had. Don’t mind the Phoenix AZ original paint.
As an outdoor person, I don’t get it. Why not sleep on the ground with a tent? What’s the value of sleeping on your vehicle?
Was always a mini trucker. My 2023 2wd has a lowlife future Anyone else sad there are so fewer low riders?
I currently have an 2016 audi a6 quattro that has expensive trans part that needs to be replaced and it’s only at 88k miles (well maintained, I baby it) and we’re more than likely getting rid of it because it’s had a couple problems already. Thinking about getting a Tacoma around the years above either an SR5 or an SR that’s 4wd. What are some thoughts on the reliability? I’m 20 and hoping it’ll last till I’m around 45. Currently looking at ones with less than 50k miles. Also just love how they look, perfect size and love the customization
Ive done light research on new suspension and tires, Im currently looking at the dirt king 2.5 and their upper control arms for the front with the 2.0 fox 14" for the rear with a garage hammer hanger or shock relocation kit. I occationally haul 300-600 pounds, I have previosly ridden on trails mostly at medium speeds and want a smoother ride. I want to keep my stock rims and interested in how larger tires like 285/75R17 would compare to my current 265/70R17, with tires like that would I need to regear? Do i need better leaf springs and will long travel fox 2.0s work with the Garage Hammer Hanger or do i need the relocation kit aswell?
Just a week ago my camera went fuzzy. It was fine before that.
Nothing was disassembled. The weather has been a bit wet but I doubt that would be an issue.
Any input on what might be wrong?
I was checking out the 2025 configurator and say they are now offering a lift.
I told the dealership i didn’t want those slabs of metal on the top and under the door. Save myself 3,000. Im going to put tue electrical retractable ones under the doors and something i like on top. I bought it on July this pic is just getting home from the dealer.
