!SNAKE SEVERE CONSTIPATION!

Ive had my snake for about a year now and it was only week ago i found out her tail wasn’t just different (she has been like this since i got her from her past owners) and i was worried because she hasn’t pooped at all. at the moment i dont have enough money to bring her to the vet. Is there anyway i can get my hands on actilax without a vet visit?

Garter snake, bulge.

Hello! I went to feed him today. He does not est live. He's always been on frozen. He has this weird bulge there. He has a heat light on one side, as well as UVB next to the heat light. He is on a mix of reptile soil, Coco fiber and a bit of moss. Has access to two fresh water that is replaced every other day. He has natural hides. Logs, bark, etc. Sometimes, about every other month, he gets fed live fish in one of the bowls for him to hunt. Around every 4 weeks he gets a few nightcrawlers as well. He's been fine for two years with me. All his sheds have been fine too, except for once where a very small amount was stuck to his tail. He does not seem to be in discomfort. He is not masking when handled either. Nor did it seem to bother him when I touched the bulge. He is still very friendly too, no change in personality.

Any idea what this could be? Or if he will be okay?

Sorry for the long paragraph. I didn't know what information is / isn't relevant.

Shedding problems?

So my BP is shedding but only his head is peeling. He doesn’t leave his hide and looks pretty emaciated. It’s been this way for about 3 days.

I’ve been upping the humidity in his enclosure but it doesn’t seem to help.

Should I be worried?

Would a snake be a good pet for me?

For a while I wanted chinchillas and only chinchillas but there budget is so expensive compared to snakes I do lots of research before I get animals and for a while I thought I could handle chinchillas but there too much for me at the moment.

I recently went to a reptile sanctuary and got to hold a boa constrictor and I fell in love. She needed a home and no one was adopting her. It would be free and they would give me a enclosure for her too. I really want her I need to save some money up for emergencies before I can adopt her and what not. All I’m worried is I have a cat but I think I would just not let him in the room with her. Is this a good beginner snake I really really loved her and would do anything for her but if you need more experience I know it’s not meant to be. Just looking for advice on the matter thank you.

Cloacal issue after bad shed

I posted a few days ago about my poor bp having a really bad shed despite high humidity, wet hide etc. After many rounds of shed aid spray and wet pillowcase i think we've gotten it all. However i noticed when i picked him up tonight to check it he had a pinkish bulge from his cloaca. It went back in before i could get a very good look at it but it's concerning me. I thought i saw something last night similar but it went back in so fast i figured i saw something else. I am planning a vet visit but I'd like to have an idea of what this could be before i go. He doesn't seem to be in any pain. Is moving fine and didn't seem defensive or anything about it. I've had a look on Google but the only thing I've found is prolapse and i thought those stayed out once they happened?

Fixated On Me 😱

I left the room after feeding Harleen, it couldn’t have been more than five minutes or so before I returned to this. She never fails to be convinced I will be her next meal. I had to guide her back down the glass as I didn’t want her to hurt herself in her little feeding frenzy! 🐍❤️😂

Crazy find at the reptile show a few weeks back

I found this black milk snake (Lampropeltis triangulum gaigeae) sitting all by itself on a table for $125. Unfortunately, I found out afterwards that the seller is a flipper and a mite breeder (being treated for them but no mites seen in about 2 weeks so far). On top of that, despite the appearance here, the snake was a little underweight. The base of the tail was folding inwards as it moved around. We have fed him 3 fuzzies so far and he is on the mend.

These snakes are super hardy and require cooler temps than most other Lampropeltis, making them, in my opinion, one of the best pet snakes out there. They also start off as tricolor, but turn jet black as the grow. Their large size (4-6 feet) has given them the nickname the "poor man's indigo" even though their price has absolutely skyrocketed in recent years. I'm really happy with this pickup ☺️

Milk snake but no heating

Someone gave us their Nelson’s milk snake saying that it included all the required equipment(and a heating mat), but instead it was in this small plastic aquarium without a heat source. I ordered a heating mat today and am looking for a bigger tank, but I was wondering if a cvs heating pad or a hot water bottle would be adequate until I received those items in a few days. I live in NC so it’s not like it’s cold, but I’ve never kept a snake before and I don’t want it getting sick. I already feel kinda terrible about this.

Yearling Texas Rat Tips Needed

I acquired a baby Texas Rat (born Feb last year) and she's now a yearling and I'm wondering if it's normal for her to STILL be super nervous and defensive even when I walk by her cage. I only take her out a few times a week but try to hold her for at least 5 minutes. (She seems fine there.) It's just when I try to pick her up, it's the weirdest thing, if she's in a hide she's fine to pick up but if she's on the move she almost always tries to fly away or curl up and bite.

I'm not worried about getting hurt as her teeth are still quite small. But I'm REALLY worried this will be a problem as she gets bigger. Any ideas on what could be happening?

Edit: I should probably mention she is a rescue. She had parents with tons of hets and none of them proved for her so she was sold as a normal with 5-6 possible hets and has been rehomed twice for apparently only eating live. (She ate FT for me after a few tries so no worries there). But my first experience was watching her cup she was sold in being tossed around by a young kid and the mother immediately gave her to me since her son just proved how not ready for a small pet he was. (She saw I was interested in her before.) I'm not familiar how trauma works with snakes but when I first got her I held her long enough for a health inspection then gave her space in her tank for 2 weeks to settle. I've now had her for almost 8 months but she still acts very fearful when trying to pick her up outside of a hide.

So basically TLDR:
I have a yearling Texas Rat that MIGHT have trauma still from a previous owner and I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong or if she just hates being caught out in the open when it's handling time.

Feel free to ask additional questions about her care if you think having more info will help!
