I live in Illinois
I dont know much about this species, but is it possible to keep it??? How long does it live? Is it a good pet??
Just a cute lil noodle
I find it so cool how well copperheads blend in with the leaves! Was going to weed eat around my fence but I changed my mind once I saw this little guy. He retreated back into the woods to live another day 😀
How do I lure out a snake hiding in my garage? I heard it in the wall and it seems to have moved. I can only get an idea where it is at any given time by my cat alerting to it. I’m in Georgia so there are a lot of poisonous varieties
Jansen rat snake, 6 months. Regurgitated a rat last Tuesday, and we have since figured out that it was because he was fed too big of a meal. I know that I need to wait 2 weeks before I feed him again, but does that apply to handling as well?
What snake is this ? Long Island NY
(Attaching a pic in comments of a bug that I found in her water bowl as well)
So I just found these guys in my snakes tank after replacing the bedding a week-ish ago. My research points to springtails hopefully but I just want to be sure. It looks like an infestation which I heard is fine but better safe than sorry. Any advice helps, thanks!
I have heard they don't have the capability to experience emotions and they are not smart. But is this true? As most sources say they are more intelligent than we think. Any snake owner who can confirm?
Hi need help to identify this cutie. Is it dangerous?
Hey everyone, my boyfriend moved in with me, and he owns a 13y/o (i believe???) ball python. The snake has always eaten live mice and rats, when we first started dating he was eating the small mice but I wanted to learn more about snakes so I went to a reptile store and asked the girl there if that was enough food for his size. He’s about 4-4.5 ft long, and she recommended moving up to a medium rat. We started feeding him those, and recently moved him up to large rats without an issue. I’ve never seen him not eat his food in the 3 years we’ve been together, but ever since the move he has not eaten. We’ve tried twice now to feed him, first a large rat and then a medium rat when he didn’t go for the large one (it was definitely one of the biggest we’ve ever given him, but according to google it was still within the size he should be able to eat). A few days after that unsuccessful attempt we tried again with the smaller medium rat. Again nothing. He doesn’t even strike at the rat, or acknowledge it at all. The rat will literally chill in the cage with him, even crawl on him and he does not attack it in the slightest. I wondered if the move could have caused it, but my boyfriend has moved at least twice while owning this snake and it’s never happened before. He’s also been what i believe is “periscoping” based on my research. He’ll be stretched all the way up to the top of his enclosure, especially in the corners. Even when the rat was in the cage he was doing this instead of acknowledging the rat. I’m wondering if there is something going on that we should be concerned about, when we should try and feed him again, and if there is a way to encourage him to eat or make him more comfortable, what can we do? I’ve been thinking about trying to feed him again with the small mice (to make it extremely clear that it’s not a threat/easy prey??) but also the rats here are super expensive and I don’t want to keep buying them and him not eat them…the guy at the store said ball pythons could not eat for up to a month at his size and he could just be being dramatic but I just want to make sure everything is okay! Thanks in advance :)
This is the milk snake i just recently got and i wanna know what subspecies she is. I know it really doesn't matter, I'm just curious. Sorry the photo isn't the clearest.
