This more /r/truegaming than in the vein of /r/girlgamers and /r/gaymers. That said we're currently working on a sub appropriate for more cultural / meme style / etc discussion.

Do you Love video games? Do you identify as being part of a Black or Minority Ethnic background? I am conducting a piece of research for my MA dissertation that is investigating People of Colour's opinions on race and representation in the video gaming world. The research aims to find out how participants feel about the representations they see of different races within videogames, how race plays out in online gaming communities, and their opinions on race in the games development sector. Your participation would consist of a one-off interveiw to be conducted over Microsoft Teams, lasting between 30 to 45 minutes, and will consist of a variety of questions concerning the above topics. If you are interested in taking part in this research, please contact me at ss21a2b@leeds.ac.uk, where i can provide you with more information. Thanks! Shares welcome 📷
Hello! We are researchers at a public university in the United States doing a study on people’s experiences on Twitch. We are looking for volunteers who are at least 18 years old to answer an approximately 15-minute survey about their experience either as a streamer or a general user of Twitch. You may find some of the questions personal in nature and we will ask you questions about experiences that were potentially uncomfortable (i.e., antisocial) in nature. To protect your privacy, we suggest you complete the study at a location and time of your choosing.
We are conducting this research to share with our scholarly community. We will store all collected data securely in accordance with institutional review requirements and will anonymize and de-identify all data.
The whole questionnaire takes approximately 15 minutes and, in exchange for your participation, you can provide your email address for a chance to win a $50 gift card. Winners of the drawing will be informed after data collection for the study is complete (odds of receiving the gift card approximately 1/200). We will contact winners with additional information about how they will receive the gift card at the email address provided.
We appreciate your consideration. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns about the study.

Hi all! I'm a 35+ afrolatina gamer and I play WoW almost exclusively for now as it's the only game I really have time for but I'm looking for a PoC/WoC guild. Possibly on a similar level as me. Lvl 60 in Shadowlands. Item Level 160+ ish. I've done a bunch of normal dungeons in Shadowlands but no Heroic or Mythic yet. I don't mind shadowing more advanced players, I'm just wondering if a chill group of black gamers exists. Also I really don't care how old anyone is but I like to be transparent about my age cause I'm trying to weed out ageists as well. Happy gaming!
Hi there! My name is Ben and I’m a university student studying Graphic Communication. My latest project is to rebrand and create a campaign for the Black Girl Gamers. I’ve created a short survey to help me gain a deeper insight into the BGG and the problems all women gamers face. If you don’t mind taking a few minutes out of your day to help answer my survey it would be much appreciated! https://forms.gle/W7PsyNh7gBuZYH3m6
hi all! i am mixed japanese/irish american. i help to run a server for queer folks that play ttrpg like d&d. it’s a fun and safe space for queer & BIPOC to hang out, and we often play other games together including jackbox, apex, indie games, and minecraft (we have a dedicated server). this post is marked 18+ as we do not allow minors into the server.

It had a very similar art style to the last guardian but it had a black kid. Does anyone know what i'm talking about?
I'm looking to subscribe to poc youtubers that focus on gaming news and reviews, a lot of what i've seen is just saturated by white people, specifically white men, and it gets tiring lol. I need new perspectives that I can better identify with!
I'm glad I found this page. Not just because I am writing opinion pieces about pretty much being Black, Female, & into gaming/tech. Or because I literally just started a podcast about this same thing. And it's nice to give and get feedback and our experiences. You guys are neato-rino

Hi all! I am /u/LostTribeofBadazz and I recently claimed the subreddit as all mods had left Reddit.
I've noticed that the subreddit has almost completely died, but I wanted to also gauge interest in any attempts to rejuvenate it. I'd like to use this thread for any suggestions any of you may have for increasing the activity of the subreddit.
Some ideas I've been thinking of:
If any of you have any other ideas, feel free to add them in the comments. I think a space for POC to talk about gaming, without worrying about the issues that gaming spaces typically have, is very important.
Thanks!
Hi all. I'm not a regular contributor in the sub so I hope you folks don't mind if I'm asking a slightly serious question. This is mostly out of curiosity and I hope you allow me to explain further.
There's a small controversy about a certain game and racist behavior among players. While checking discussions in various subreddits, I noticed that other subs had people calling out, acknowledging, and criticizing racist behavior done by players. However, in one particular subreddit, there were quite a number of users who, rather than acknowledging the problem, were trying to deflect the blame away from racist behavior.
Some would say:
There seemed to be some users who felt that racist slurs are "not really racism" or "those teens aren't really racists." The behavior wasn't okay, but those gamers were mostly "just being edgy" or they're being "assholes." But, "they're not racists."
Some commenters even suggested that "it's not a big deal," or that we have to empathize -- instead -- with the gamers who were using these slurs (because of their backgrounds).
One reason I'm asking is that I'd like to know your perspectives as folks who've been subjected to or have been targeted by racism (and some of you might be gamers as well).
I'm a dude from the Philippines who's not really too invested in what goes on in the other hemisphere. I do know there's a wacky "culture war" going on in the west, and gaming happens to get lumped into that too. The perspectives being shared in that gaming subreddit might be from those who weren't necessarily targeted by racism or discrimination before, and so they might be quicker to excuse those behaviors.
Thank you very much for your kind replies.
Please note: I've also submitted the same topic in other subs for women and LGBTQ communities and in AskReddit.
I think it should be challenged whenever it rears its head and all persons of all colors should treat gaming as a relaxing experience, an escape from the real world and not somewhere to bring collective prejudices and racism in general. I agree with the perpose of this sub and hope it can get back on its feet
Hello everyone. I am collecting data in the hope to produce work that will help tabletop game designers craft more inclusive and better-informed games. I would very much appreciate your input in my survey to help collect that data. If you're interested and would like to see some of the data when I'm done, I'm happy to share it with you privately. I appreciate your time in taking the survey for those who are interested in helping out.
Hey yall, often times, the gaming world is white dominated so I wanted to create a space where Women/ nonbinary people of color can game comfortably! If you'd like to join, please message me!
