Hello all, first post here. I've been having trouble playing the show on the Max app, but only on a certain TV in my house. The trouble I have is that frequently when the show switches to video playback or to And Now This or another segment like that, the video stops syncing with the audio and the show plays more slowly than the audio. After watching it like this for a bit, I realized that the video appears to be playing at what looks like NORMAL SPEED and the audio is still playing at an accelerated rate. I can fix it by rewinding a bit and playing again, and when I watch the show at what's supposed to be normal speed I see John's hands gesturing at high speed sometimes. So my question is, does HBO/MAX normally play the show at high speed because it looks/sounds funnier or to save time? I've searched this topic here and elsewhere and all I can find online is an old show review by Hollywood Reporter where the reviewer points out that Mr Oliver appears to speak 100 words a second without taking a breath, and wonders how he doesn't turn blue in the face and explode, and now that I've seen the show playing with John speaking at what looks like normal speed, I can't help but wonder the same. Does anyone have any insight on this, has it ever been confirmed the show is played back fast? I don't think it's double speed, I think it's closer to 125-150% speed.

During the segment on mass deportation, there was a clip of a young girl whose father was deported. It fucking broke me 💔 I know the whole segment isn't available for a few more days but I'm hoping someone might know where I can find that clip.

So I’m 99% sure I got through to my grandma. Thanks to things I’ve learned along the way from watching LWT, but also from further research on my own. I was actually able to use some info from this past weeks episode on immigration to shoot down her misinformation about immigration. She seemed really receptive and was asking additional questions. I also told her that no offense, but this election and the result of it, will have little effect on her life. It’ll have a greater effect on the future generations. And that when voting, she should consider what it best for the future and not just what she thinks is best for her. She’s always voted Dem as far as I know. And she lives in MD. A notoriously blue state. I hope I truly was able to speak to her and get through. 🤞🏻

Loved the Will Ferrell song and went back to watch it again, and… I got emotional, nearly to tears! I actually really love the part about hoping the new immigrants can help us with our problems. It’s a silly song, but if you’re in the right mood it’s also a gut punch. Great job LWT!

I should stress that I am not a Monarchist or one of those people who believes that Britain has never done anything wrong ever and I generally love John's content.

It's only because stuff about slavery reparations is in the news here in the UK and it reminded me of the piece John did about The Monarchy after The Queen died and he mentioned "British people love to bring up that they abolished slavery"

You'd think he'd be more proud of that considering he's British (like myself) and it was one of the very few genuinely good things that Britain from that time period did, granted we shouldn't have utilised slavery in the first place and we shouldn't have compensated the slave owners a single penny, never mind as much as the British government ended up doing.

But you'd think that he'd want to talk about the fact that England at least abolished slavery without needing a civil war or bringing in segregation like in the US. (There's stories of white Brits in World War 2 sticking up for black US servicemen when white Americans were racists to them).

I feel like HBO could not be doing any less to promote this show. I'm not a subscriber but, as far I can tell, even subscribers have no means to know when the next episode drops, beyond rewatching the last minute of the most recent episode. Do people follow John on Twitter for this info? I never liked using it and refuse to under the "new management."

Any way to convince the execs at Max to make next week's episode available on YouTube after airing. Pretty sure it's going to be about the election and people that don't have Max probably will need it.

I’m torn on Prop 140 in AZ…and I’m wary of naysayers potentially just being folks who want to stay in power…but I also don’t want to end up with a final ballot that says “here’s two republicans, take your pick”

I’m currently leaning one way, but I would love the community or the writers or (unlikely but it would blow my mind) John himself…really anyone at least mostly sane (assumed as fans of the show) to offer some input?
