No Nut November is because of women?

This is one of Bill's more oblivious takes. No one that is doing No Nut November is doing it because of their woman. Hell, a lot of them don't even have a woman. They're doing it on their own accord, to see if they can have the self-control under a certain window. What a ridiculous subject to use for gender dynamics.

Bill should have had Michael Moore on last night

I'll never forget in 2016 when he had Michael Moore on right before the election and was saying that things were not looking good for Hilary despite everyone thinking she had it in the bag... and he was dead right. He was right in 2020 as well and is one of the few people I really trust to gauge this election. It would have been nice if Bill interviewed him about his thoughts once again.

*I searched and he was interviewed on MSNBC Friday and he seems to be very optimistic about Kamala's chances and even said it might be a modern day type of landslide; 55-47% kind of election. I'm still too nervous to let myself have any hope, especially that kind, but I finally slept a bit better after hearing him say that.

Bill, Kamala is not going to lose because of woke.

I was a pretty big Bill apologist a while ago when people would give him too much grief for going too hard on Democrats, but he seems to be just inventing problems that are plaguing Harris and the Democrats this year now.

I really wish that whenever he brings up that “wokeness” would be the reason that Democrats would lose this year, someone would press him for examples. What divisive “woke” things are Harris and Walz pushing? What is ANY mainstream Democrat pushing that is considered “woke” these days? He repeats this constantly and it drives me crazy when he never elaborates on what he means. He seems to constantly be conflating them with chronically online Reddit progressives, which is just ridiculous.

Is he talking about transgender stuff? That doesn’t even crack the top 10 of what regular people care about. That’s why it hasn’t been a winning issue for Republicans to run on. Is he talking about the Gaza stuff? You have to be living on a different planet if you think Kamala and the Democrats are on the same page with progressives on that one. Any whiff of rhetoric of “Defund the Police” or support for jihadists in the Middle East are shut down immediately by Democrats.

I was wrong. Bill has changed. I’m not going to say he’s a Republican now, but I need the Bill of the previous 25 years back. That Bill wouldn’t be so hung up for literal years for complete non-issues.

Why is Bill criticizing Biden? (Monologue)

RE: Tony Hinchcliffe's comments on Puerto Rico and Biden's response

I don't give a shit about the Tony Hinchcliffe nonsense. The dude is a comedian, he said some off-color jokes, whether you feel like it was appropriate or not is incredibly subjective, get a sense of humor. I certainly don't think that whoever they booked has any reflection on Trump's personal feelings or beliefs...those are already pretty well known. Trump's borderline racist, if not full-blown racist, we have known this for years, Tony Hinchcliffe's comedy hasn't changed any of that.

But Bill goes on to criticize Biden's take on it: "The only garbage I see floating out there is his [Trump's] supporters..."

YES! Biden is absolutely right**!** Sorry, but Bill should be counting this as an epic slam and should be supporting this sort of rhetoric. Fuck those people. Anyone that is still a Trump supporter at this point is garbage. And anyone that is undecided is either incredibly uninformed or is a fucking idiot. I am so sick of this shit: Biden gets a ton of flak and negative press for shit that Trump and his supporters and media apparatus say on a daily basis. Fuck them. I'm tired of the left having different standards, especially when they're correct.

If you think this is some sort of negative optics thing, I completely disagree. The fabled "undecided voter" that is out there still weighing the options of whether they should vote for Trump or Harris at this point barely exists. What actually exists are two major political bases that can either be energized or not depending on the rhetoric and tone of the election narrative.

The person sitting there weighing the policy differences between Democrats or Republicans is a unicorn or is someone with his head permanently stuck in the sand. The GOP doesn't even care about policy, they don't bother even discussing policy at this point. Presently, the GOP runs off of Trump's ridiculous rhetoric and the rhetoric of the GOP Trumpette's that are exclusively engaged in culture warfare. The idea of the fence-sitting voter just awaiting more information before deciding between these two candidates is a unicorn; I would be surprised if any statistically significant portion of the population is actually "undecided" in this fashion at this point.

So really, this election is just about energizing your base, and making your own voters feel vindicated for their views of the opposition is a perfectly rational way to energize that base. The Republicans have been employing this strategy for over a decade. They've been calling Democrats "Communists" and "Socialists" on Fox News for basically as long as I can remember.

You cannot fight dishonorable people through honorable means. The GOP has no standards for how low they will sink or what lies they will tell. I'm not suggesting that the Democrats should adopt exactly the same tactics, but certainly they should be able to call a spade a spade when it comes to the obvious differences between the two parties. Trump voters are part of a cult, they are not a political party. The Democrats should rightfully take off the gloves and embrace this sort of rhetoric, they gain nothing by playing by an entirely different set of rules and standards.

Will they ever provide stage directions to interview guests?!?

I’ve been watching RT forever. Every single time Bill concludes the interview portion, the camera pans out to pivot to the panel. The interview guest stands up with Bill, and as he walks away they have no idea what the hell they are supposed to do. Some awkwardly stand there and look around, some sit back down, some have started to walk off and then turned back around and sat down. Clearly nobody is telling them what they’re supposed to do when the portion ends, and it’s honestly pretty hilarious to watch this happen every week for fifteen years.

Megan Kelly

Another partisan hack who I forgot is as bad as she is, until Bill let her on his show. (Why? For balance?) As always, these a-holes get on his show and then start machine gunning the lies. I appreciate that he least he fought back a little, but honestly, she got the better of him. He actually seemed a little tentative with her like he knew what was coming. Unusual for him. He needed the attitude for her that he had with David Hogg last week.

Dr. Phil

Every time Bill has Dr. Phil on his podcast or Real Time, Dr. Phil goes out of his way to swear he's apolotical. Every time he talks to Bill he'll say you couldn't figure out who I'm voting for. I always figured that's BS and last night Dr.Phil threw his "objectivity" out the window by showing up at the tangerine toddler's rally at Madison Square Garden. Now if he shows up at Kamala's rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday I'll believe he doesn't have a side. I truly hope the next time he's on with Bill, he gets called on his BS.

Hi! I’m not in the US, and I can’t access the full episodes except in podcast form. Does anyone have a video of the comedic bit or a photo of the Steve Kornacki costume he mentioned (Oct 25)?

Woooooo! Man

Can someone at Bill Maher's show please tell the stupid man who always hoots out "woooooooo!", and is there for many of his show tapings, to shut the hell up?

So stupid and annoying. Tired of always hearing him.

Ageism

Classic Bill Maher. Shortly after telling David Hogg that is whole generation is f’ing stupid (apparently every last one of them), he cries ageism because Hogg said his generation was excited by the prospect of younger leaders. Then the interview went downhill from there. Bill couldn’t muster the civility and respect that he always has for all the lie spewing, insincere right wing hacks, like Anne Colutier or Buck Sexton, that he has on for “balance” because Hogg is a hated millennial. I’m an also boomer, but I find his attitude toward younger people ridiculous. He has so many stereotypes and double standards, he comes across like an old geezer, with the back in my day everything was better shtick always at the ready. Maybe he was always this tedious and I’ve forgotten, but it doesn’t seem like it.

Thoughts about last night’s show.

  1. Great guest and panel - I was really excited for this one.
  2. David Hogg is phenomenal. I’ve been following him for years and listen to most interviews he does. Why was Bill such a dick to him? There are many topics they could’ve discussed - like how there aren’t many people who have more 1st hand experience with how evil and disgusting Republicans are. He’s literally been physically harassed by right wing nuts (including Marjorie Taylor Greene) and has handled it with a remarkable level of grace while helping bring reform. He also had a huge hand in getting Tim Walz as the VP Nom. I feel like he deserved respect, but instead Bill acted like he was his whipping boy for all things he dislikes about Gen Z (which I think he’s the opposite and gives me hope). Pressing him of all people on Israel/Palestine? And asking why his generation is so anxious? I don’t know, Bill. Probably the school shootings which he has experienced. I didn’t get it at all and was disappointed. I thought David handled it great, though. As usual. Must be frustrating to never be taken seriously.
  3. A pattern I’m noticing on the show and really in my life, as well is how much time is spent talking about Donald Trump and NOT Kamala Harris. They spent the majority of the time on Trump and he acts like Kamala just isn’t doing it for him. He shows one sound bite of an interview from The View. Meanwhile she did many other high profile interviews (Howard Stern, Fox News, etc) and absolutely killed it but no focus on that. Not even brought up for discussion with the panel. He only saved it for New Rules. I would have loved for it to have been a discussion that included Mark Cuban since he’s out campaigning for her now (and obviously supports her fully).
  4. Bill and the subject of Elon Musk. He’s so sensitive about this. Basically the entire panel was rich white guys discussing a rich white whack job. Bill, Elon didn’t land the missile. He funds these missions. He acts like he’s actually doing these great things all on his own so he deserves the merit for it. I’m not saying Elon isn’t the reason for SpaceX, Tesla, etc but he’s also causing a huge amount of chaos for the Democratic Party and Bill acts like he’s upset and confused by it because he’s his hero or something. I don’t know, I would have liked (especially with this specific panel) for there to have been more discussion around Kamala, or really just NOT focusing on the worst of the worst constantly (Trump and Musk).

Maybe I’m wrong and I usually have Bill’s back but I was very annoyed watching last night.

Can we move the focus off of Trump at some point and actually highlight what Kamala is doing? She’s hustling to earn people’s votes everyday and killing it and it just never gets mentioned at all. Hm. It’s like he’s dismissing her for being a woman (as a woman that’s how it’s coming across anyway).

I’d love to hear people’s thoughts.

Pretty sure Joe Scarborough was conflating Apple with Microsoft. Microsoft was not started in a garage in Silicon Valley.
