I have to say that I was a little mixed on Monday’s show. Jon’s bit about how coverage of Trump’s trial was the equivalent to media coverage of Trump in 2016 just seemed off to me. Although I get the complaint about meaningless updates (details about Trump’s body language, etc.) I think that there’s pretty clearly a difference between covering the events of a trial and airing full speeches from Trump uninterrupted. Perhaps the writers also felt that way, which is why they felt compelled to have the Jessica Williams bit at the end of the segment.

I really enjoyed Jon‘s interview with Salman Rushdie, but I felt like a little misinformation was spread about the PEN America awards. I think that reducing the reasons behind its cancellation to “people are offended” is a bit reductive. Although I get why it was brought up given that Rushdie is an author, it seems weird to highlight the cancellation of this event, without bringing up the class cancellations at Columbia University, which I feel is a better illustration of Rushdie’s point about not tolerating differences in opinion.

Was hoping I could catch a show, but there are no tickets available for TDS and other shows at NY for that week in the 1iota site. Anyone has some insight on the situation?

That’s all. Just missed seeing her on my TV. I also cried Jon’s first night back, but seeing the two of them together again was perfect. She was amazing, I hope she stays forever.

I've never been so let down by Jon. He spent too much time doing the exact thing he was criticizing. I know it is satire, but his reach and platform... I expect more.

I get JS is the one everyone wants to see, but is there any other way other than putting your name down in 1iota and hoping for the best? I'm seeing the next month is already sold out, which wasn't happening before.

This is something that has been a sticking point for decades, and we don't seem to be able to shake the urge as a community. What prompts this is Mike Johnson and Dulce's comments about his appearance this week. There should be a playbook, a rules of engagement for appearance, and none of them were met or have been met for this guy.

I sat here and tried to write out when it's OK, and really, it just comes down to one thing. Is the person a bully, almost all the time? Well, then "an eye for an eye" applies IMHO, and fair game. So, Marjorie Taylor Greene? Fair fucking game.

This gets talked about, and also thrown in our faces by conservatives, that we aren't really "good people", and it's hard to argue with. Nuance matters, be better Daily Show. Bullying is still bullying just because you don't like the person, or they are older, or they have some power, or any number of reasons we just say "Fuck it" and do it because the joke was just too good.

I’ve had tickets to Monday’s taping in the request queue for a while. How soon before the show am I gonna find out if I actually have tickets?

With Jon Stewart's return on Mondays, Comedy Central/Paramount announced that the correspondents would be hosting the show the rest of the week. It took longer than expected but Dulcé completed her first week last night, and now all senior correspondents (those have been with the show for several years) have now had a chance to host The Daily Show in 2024.

With that, now's a good time to gauge what the community thinks. Which correspondent did you enjoy the most hosting the show, and why? Which correspondent did you feel was the funniest, the most informative, the best interviewer, etc.?

I've never minded her as a correspondent, but I did not at all care for her as host of the whole show. Obviously, that was only her first night, and maybe she'll improve. But it just seemed like she was constantly yelling, no matter if it worked for the material or not. Like, I actually had to turn my TV down multiple decibels from where I usually have it because the loudness and pitch of the volume of her voice was bothering my ears. Anyway, I'm curious to see if anyone agrees, or even feels the opposite way entirely.

Edit: Well okay, clearly I'm in the minority on this one, lol. I truly hope she wins me over too as she hosts more episodes.

New iteration of TDS is strong and all corespondents are doing a great job. Enjoying the new celeb guest commentary spots and new corespondents Troy Iwata, Grace Kuhlenschmidt, & Josh Johnson are crushin it. The thing that’s weighing everything down is the interview. I don’t think many of us care that much about the interviews and they don’t add much. Often they aren’t funny and are just boring. Dump the interview and add in more time for the creative correspondents. What do you think?

Does anyone else watch the show with a paramount+ subscription? I have mine as an Amazon Prime channel but when I went to watch the episode from last night it wants me to buy it? Does Paramount+ not have this episode for some reason? And does anyone know why? Does anyone know another way I can watch?
