Remembering a monologue bit by an older gentleman with a German accent describing the futility of mankind. He was on probably five times? I'd like to rewatch and transcribe his monologues.

[Controversial & Serious] Did Stephen Colbert ever force himself onto a woman to kiss her during his show in the 2000s?

I don't know if this is a fever dream or not but I definitely remember an episode with two ladies on the show, and Stephen Colbert grabbed one and suddenly kissed her.

I saw it when I was in my early teens, thinking it was weird, and I remember mom gasping. For reference, this would've been during his 1 800 OOPS JEW phase.

I doubt Colbert has any intention to do something like this again, but I still feel it's important to confirm whether or not this happened. Does anyone have any links?

Why hasn't Stephen talked about Gaza?

It's kind of depressing, he used to have an edge and tackle the tough stuff, now it's almost all movie stars and when he does have a political figure on it's all soft & gentle, like his kid gloves interview w Liz Cheney.

I know that this murderous orgy of revenge killing and carpet bombing of civilians that is going on in Gaza is difficult to know how to approach for many reasons but just pretending it's not happening so you don't offend your advertisers is, well, cowardly.

Now that John Stewart is retired, Stephen has evolved into a mainstream soft jocular typical late night host and Bill Maher has gone libertarian/MAGA there's nobody out there pushing the edges of progressive political humor anymore.

Anyone out there seeing any fresh, sharp, edgy comedians we should keep an eye on? Because there is a huge vacuum right now, and at a time when we really need someone like the old Stephen and John to step up and take the mantle.

Shrimp Taint Clip

I'm looking for the clip, "The Colbert Report: Untaint My Shrimp" from April 19, 2010. Yes, it's specific, but it made me laugh so hard that I cried, and my 13yo just learned what the taint is so now I need to show that clip to him so he can laugh so hard he cries too. I was massively pregnant with him when that clip aired, and I feel like it's come full circle.

It's not on the CC site, not on YouTube, and it's not on Prime. I could barely even find a reference to it and thought I was imagining the whole thing when I found a reference in a random article on Eater.com. Can anyone link me? Help me make my kid laugh until his stomach hurts.

Does anyone go back and rewatch this show?

I'm thinking about downloading old The Daily Show and CR and syncing them so I can watch them like I used to do but I have a feeling it isn't going to that great with all the old news

Just wondering if anyone watches old episodes are they still entertaining?

Who am I thinking of??

So, I thought I knew what Greg Daniels looked like, but just saw a pic of him and he is not the person I am thinking in my head. I have been scouring sites all night and I can't place this particular actor/host's name- who I thought was Greg Daniels. In my brain, he has maybe hosted The Daily Show or Colbert or something like that but is mostly behind the scenes. This person looks a lot like Steven Weber (will include a pic of Steven) but the person I am thinking of is NOT Steven Weber, he just looks similar. And no, it is not John Stewert either. I don't know if it is the Mandela Effect in my head but this whole time, I thought this person was Greg Daniels! Sort of shaggy dirty blonde hair, sort of longer like Steven Weber's hair from Mom. Who am I thinking of????

Looking for a specific clip

Hello all, I have this very specific memory of a Colbert Report clip from probably a decade ago, the whole joke is he reads the first line of A Tale of Two Cities ("it was the best of times") and then starts celebrating how great the times are because he didn't read ahead to the next line ("it was the worst of times). I don't remember what year this was or what point he was trying to prove but if anyone knows what I'm talking about I really want to find it.

looking for an episode

I remember an interview where the guy was talking about biology and psychology and parental upbringing and one of the things he talked about was how presidents tended to have one stable parent and one missing parent or one unstable parent. I think it was from late 2013 or early 2014. Does anyone remember who the guest was?

Matt Gaetz will be speaking at a high school near me next week. Below is the email that I sent the superintendent. All I have are my vote and my voice, It's past time I start utilizing both.

📷

Good evening,

I would like to voice my concern about the upcoming "Academy Night" at Niceville High School. As I understand it, this is an informational meeting where students interested in the service academies can meet with Matt Gaetz. I understand that in order to apply for service academies, students need a nomination from their representative, senator, or the vice president. The students NEED his endorsement, and there is nothing that your office can do about that, which again, I fully understand.

Matt Gaetz is under federal investigation for having sex with a 17 year old girl (the news keeps calling this sex with a minor. In Florida, the age of consent is 18, so this isn't just "sex with a minor". That's rape.) and paying for her to travel across state lines, violating sex-trafficking laws.

It is absolutely vile that the school system would invite someone currently under investigation for rape and sex-trafficking into the school to speak to 17 year old girls and put them in a position where they have to ask him for a favor. This investigation has been ongoing for a long time, so the county has had plenty of time to come up with an alternative to allowing him to speak at the school. Any information he needs to give out can easily be done via email, or even a Zoom call with interested students and their parents.

It seems to me that the school system should not allow someone under investigation for sex with minors anywhere near a school, if for no other reason than out of an abundance of caution. Instead, however, you are quite literally giving him access to potential new victims, and directing them to ask him for something. I would think that the safety of students would be a top priority for Okaloosa County, but this decision leads me to believe otherwise. If a teacher is under federal investigation for sex with a student, does that teacher stay in the classroom teaching while the investigation is ongoing? I’m fairly certain I know the answer.

Thank you for taking these concerns into consideration.

Colbert Report Archive

Hello All,

About 7 years back another redditor compiled a full archive of the Colbert Report. That torrent has no seeders. Does anyone out there have the files and if so, can you share them or seed the current torrent? I would really love to add this to my collection.

Does anyone remember the town that Colbert kept ripping on?

It was a running bit on the Colbert Report for a few weeks.

It started with him mocking some town. Then the town responded by making a video about them not being a shithole. So Colbert apologized and then said he was actually talking about this other town with the same name.

This went on for a few weeks with different towns with the same name.

I've been trying to find clips from the bits but haven't had any luck. Thanks!

Edit: u/FakeMikeMorgan solved the mystery! Here's a clip of some of his apologies: https://www.cc.com/video/jhg2wn/the-colbert-report-canton-south-dakota-apology

Need episode references for argument rebuttal

I'm having a (so far) civil chat with someone online who claimed that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are "religious nutcases" in response to a clip of their appearance on the 2006 Emmys telecast. I responded that Stewart is a self-described secular humanist, and that Colbert was a prominent Catholic who taught/teaches Sunday school.

In response, the person said I was "lying to myself", and in reference to Colbert, asked "Has he ever criticized Catholicism? Not the church or certain individuals, but Catholicism." I know Colbert has to have skewered Catholicism multiple times during his tenure on The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, but the brunt seems to be limited to quick jokes that I'd seemingly have to watch the entire archive of both shows to comb out.

Aside from the S4E29 episode of T.C.R with William Donahue, can anyone share specific references I can use where Colbert criticizes the religion so I can better argue with this person?

Looking for a clip

Still be the best show that was ever on TV amirite.

Ive been searching for a clip and I cannot find it. Once on the show, Colbert, a South Carolinian, went on a hilarious rant regarding North and South Carolina BBQ. I, a North Carolinian, thought it was hilarious.

Any chance any of you know where I can find it? I am not even sure what episode it was.

I Am America (and so can you!) Book question

I just finished the audio book for I am America, and it turns out the edition I have is abridged. Does anyone know which sections were removed and/or how it was abridged? As in, were sections removed or we sections shortened?

Remington Carriage Museum reference

Might be a long shot, but years ago he name dropped the Remington Carriage Museum in Cardston, Alberta Canada.. it was part of a bit that was making fun of something being boring.. or “less exciting than…” the carriage museum. Anyways it was funny. Anyone know how I can track down the episode? Google isn’t being helpful today…
