About
For women in the lineup.
We love the salt, the sand, the sea and the sun. We love the ocean, the beauty and power of its waves. We love to have fun, so we put up with nose drain, bruises, fin cuts, sore muscles, hold downs, flat spells and traveling with boards, for the love and beauty of surfing. We believe we deserve to be in the line up as much as anyone.
You may be really stoked on a session, or inspired by a female surfer, and would like to share with some like minded people. You may have problems you want to discuss or have issues that /r/Surfing might not understand (big boob problems, getting cat-called whilst changing, whether to wear a swimsuit under a wetsuit, harassment just because you are a woman). Sometimes you might get tired of seeing comments or promotion about female surfers and how "hot" they are. You may even like to try surfing (go on).
/r/GirlSurfers is a safe space. We are obviously female friendly, but welcome all genders, age, race, what have you. Feel free to post and use this space however you see fit. If you'd like to be a mod or help with CSS stuff, feel free to send a message to the mods.

Hi all - I'm a lower intermediate surfer looking to step up from my mid to something a little shorter and easier to duckdive for the NorCal winter season. Anyone have recommendations for boards around 6'4/35 liters? I'm 5'11 so not looking for anything super short.
Idk if anyone else had this DVD back in the day but is so of its time. Also I was so stoked on Melanie Bartels it's still my dream to surf like her.
Hey ladies, I’m a moderately good wakesurfer (tried ocean surfing last time we were in Puerto Rico too!) not sure if other lady wake surfers are in this forum. But I wanted to ask for some board recommendations I’ve recently been surfing our friends liquid force dart surf style board, he just won’t sell it to us 😩 but it is my favorite board I’ve ever tried. it’s floaty, fast, maneuverable, I just love it. But since he won’t sell it, I can’t use it whenever I want so I’m looking for another board. Hoping someone in here can give me some recommendations ☺️
I’ve been surfing a Mick Fanning soft top (8ft super soft) for two years and would like to get a new board! Long/mid length and not a foamie but still good for a beginner! The Salt Gypsy Mid Tide keeps coming up in my searches. Does anyone have any experience with that board or other recommendations?
First of all, glad to find this group!
Also, is it normal that my springsuit gives me a wedgie? It fits fine on land but just keep riding up...
I need ideas, I would love to wear just shorts or cover up before the beach. (I work next to a pier) however, I don't like to appear unprofessional. So, what's a good outfit I could try? All responses welcome 😁
Any recs for a surf retreat that serves as a long weekend trip from nyc? Looking at Central America/ Europe but would be helpful if anyone has a specific retreat they recommend for beginners. Thank you!

Hey ladies, Scottish surfer here who accidentally moved to Minnesota and is now desperate for some surf. Thinking about heading to Mexico - a Cali couple I met in Nicaragua told me Sayulita was a nice spot. Anyone been? Is it touristy with loadsa foamies flying about?
Also, are there any longboard retreats happening on the west coast USA that would be fun?

Hi all- I’m 5’3 and 170lbs right now. I’m usually 30lbs less but I’m on meds that are tough to not gain weight/lose weight. Any good suggestions? Thanks in advance?
Hi ladies, I’m new to surfing and just invested in a capsule wetsuit (long sleeve but no “pants”) so I’m wondering whether or not I should still wear bikini bottoms, do hygiene reasons maybe? But I’m not sure if it would even be comfy as the suite already has a bikini cut. Maybe it would be fine if I wore really cheeky bikini bottoms underneath?

Hi,
My wife and her friend want a relaxing surf/yoga trip, preferably an all-inclusive, women's or non-youth hostel party type resort. This will be mid-October, and looking for a 4-6 hour flight from San Francisco, most likely Central America. Any recommendations for weather, waves, and resorts?
Hey, fam! Would anyone be able to recommend me a wetsuit? I'm 4'-11" with 35" chest but otherwise "average" athletic girl proportions. The closest fit I've been able to find is a Hyperflex Men's XS, which for the most part has good dimensions but the boy specific areas (like the belly and crotch) are super awkward. Everyone I know keeps recommending Xcel, but even their 8s is slightly too long and too tight in the chest and shoulders. O'Neill could work if I could get UK sizes in the US, but alas (the 8s in their rigid Epic suit is the perfect length but too tight, and the 10s is an okay width but bunches up in several places). I feel like their stretchy Hyperfreak in 8s could be just right, but the US version doesn't come in short sizes and they don't ship to here from the UK. Help! Am I doomed to wear weird fitting XS boy suits? Thanks, all!
Hi everyone! I’m in need of some help- I’m looking for a longboard surf camp in the Indonesia/Philippines area that is women-friendly, sustainably minded, and preferably gives back to the local community in tangible ways. Any tips? Thank you!! 💖🏄🏽♀️💖
Hi all! I’m looking to get a new board and I would like to support a female shaper. I know Catherine Girard, but was curious if you all had any suggestions or knew of any other shapers? Thanks so much for your recs!
Hello Ladies,
My partner and I live on Vancouver Island, Canada. We do plenty of cold water surfing up here, but rarely get the chance to surf sans wetsuit. My partner has booked a trip to mexico to surf Sayulita for a couple weeks, and I'm trying to help her find some affordable surf clothing.
Can anyone recommend an affordable brand of bikini style or one piece swimsuit/rashguards? She would like to buy a few different options for the trip, and we're finding that cost will add up very quickly with the typical surf brands (billabong, volcom, etc). She's prepared to spend the money if necessary, but wondering if anyone has more affordable recommendations?
Thanks in advance.
