hey guys what’s everyone’s best tips for starting out and not missing stuff early on or getting good stuff early?
That is all.
I've found keys to open otherwise unopenable boxes, but there are also boxes that belong to someone and there's certainly no terminal around. I steal from the person and the key isn't in their pocket. Do I need to kill them to reveal the key?
Let me start with saying Fallout 3 was the first Fallout game I ever played, and it is without a doubt my #1 favorite game in existence. I have played and beaten this game alone more times than I can count.
Every year I usually pick this game back up and run another playthrough for old times sake. Regardless of all the FNV nerds that say this game is awful, I disagree in every way I can express. (FNV is still good though, don't get me wrong.) This game and world has shaped me in such a way I could never begin to explain how much this series has meant to me, and to finally see it on the screen has absolutely brought so much happiness to me.
I'm sure others here feel similarly, and to see a game we've been so passionate about for so long to be taken seriously and actually produce a good product of a show has been such a overwhelming and emotional experience for me.
I love Fallout, and I am brought to tears over how happy I am to see this come to fruition. I just wanted to share how important Fallout 3 was in my life, and how happy I am to see a show do a fairly faithful representation of a world that is so dear to me. Granted I only finished the first episode, but already I am so happy with what I've seen and I hope it continues.
Just wanted to share how I felt as this has been very surreal for me and had to express it. Thank you to this game and community for shaping my life in such a profound way. You are all incredible Lone Wanderers, and I hope to see you all in the wasteland.
It’s getting soo annyoing I have to restart my pc every single time I want to play it again :( I just want to complete my play thru on all the dlcs ( it’s my first time playing them )
Like is there a screenshot of the right sliders for all the options?
To my fellow Fallout players,
Recently I got into using the GECK and I created my own personalized shelter as a first project getting into fo3 modding. I am still learning how to optimize my areas and make it as authentic as possible, and it's a fun journey.
Making the interior isn't the issue. Linking the door to the exterior (wasteland) isn't the issue, either.
If anyone can shine some light on this for me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
UPDATE: I found the entrance in the World Space tab, so I am good there. Still need to know if adding a map marker is possible.
I am just about to finish this for the first time, and want to replay it again. But not sure where to start. I always just end up playing good karma, not blowing up megaton and going about the game the usual way.
Was thinking about blowing up Megaton and setting up at Tenpenny this time but that seems like the complete opposite of how I would normally play.
I would think blowing up megaton would make the game harder and you would lose a lot of opportunities for XP.
Any suggestions?
It will be on the PS3 with all the DLC. Finishing it up on my PC at home but we stay somewhere with no internet a lot of the summer so figured I would boot that bad boy back up lol
Designing the Creatures for Fallout 3 & 4 | A Developer Retrospective - YouTube
Hello everyone,
this is a video i thought would be interesting to this community.
Its from Jonah Lobe, a former developer and designer at Bethesda, where he talks in great detail about the process of creating the iconic creatures of Fallout 3 and 4.
I thought it would help to gain some insight in how these beasts were created (inspirations and such) and also the dev process that went into it.
I had this idea for years, but somehow I never found it implemented.
This could open other pathways and they don't need to be complicated!
a) You need to find the GECK on your own, but must solve a string of puzzles or quests or must find the correct letters or databases that describe the location and instructions
b) you could try kill any faction in the wasteland and its branching into a wasteland-war.
c) each faction could be decimated or eradicated and maybe they get reinforcements or they don't
just skip the stupid and nonsensical Ending of F3 and let us resolve it with a Science- or hacking-skill or a doctor-skill that makes a scientist survive his journey to the plant and you patch him up so he gives you instructions.
Basically anything that removes the tacked-on and lazy end-"quest"
Imho we could just cut the >!"giant-robot walks with you and kills everything for you, so all you can do is following him"-Section.!<
Sooooo many possibilities!
Implementing some open-ended or altered videos at the end, and voila:
We fixed Bethesdas underwhelming main story-quest!
I could write a whole essay why F3 is my favorite Fallout and why its imho better than FONV.
it has more freedom
has more to explore
there are so many hidden stories and random events
no playthrough is the same
compared to NV it has close to no invisible walls
exploration gets rewarded
the atmosphere is perfect
Of course there are some things I would change, but most are fixed by mods.
Imho I never understood why FNV-Fanboys keep bashing FO3, while FO3 has clearly the better atmosphere, more bunkers, more little or big rewards for exploring...
I could write a whole essay why FO3 is superior (ok, FNV had the better dialogue, but some made zero sense. And if you would ask me what Fallout had the best Dialogue, I can say very confidently that F1 & F2 still has the best dialogues ever!)
But before I write a whole loveletter to FO3,
this one basically says wjat I am thinking:

Unpopular opinion:
The hate F3 gets from FNV-elitists was and is absolutely unjustified.
While I agree that the main-quest in FO3 is bollocks, FNV was even worse (especially how the "main villain" changed to a underwhelming, hyperactive and unsecure dude when you met him again... but I digress)
and did have less small interesting Stories you to tell (when searching terminals, documents) had more invisible walls than any Yakuza game.
And way less visual story-telling!
Let the downvotes roll in....
I came back to megaton and I see her corpse on the other side of walkway. I dont know how it moved but this guy next to her seems a little fishy. Second image is the original spot the body was in as seen in a previous post of mine. I guese I need to stay away form megaton a while for her to despawn?
The game has no problem launching, but as soon as I select new game, it crashes. It's worth noting that I have fo3 on epic games launcher. I found something online that said to navigate to fallout.ini and change bUseThreadedAI=0 to bUseThreadedAI=1, and then add iNumHWThreads=2 under that. I tried it and it did not work. I also set fo3 and fo3 launcher to high performance in graphics settings, and it did not work either. If there's anything I can do without having to download mods, please let me know.
I was playing fo3 recently and decided blackhall manor in point lookout would make a good player home. I went through and gutted the house using the "disabled" command in the console; but I was wondering, is there a way of adding other useful things, e.g. like the infirmary you can get in the megaton home, by using console commands, if so what is the format for it?? Objects seem to have an id when you select them so it seems reasonable you could spawn a specific asset in..
Normaly I would kill her with a clean headshot but this time I decided to throw a grenade.
I wonder why the option was not added to allow the quest to be fufilled by selling her to the slavers. At least she would live if she is taken away to Paradice Falls and out of his way.
For some reason Fallout HD Overhaul makes my game crash, even if they are alone (im using all U. Patch, heap replacers etc) and randomly not load: one loading of save for example red rocket prop can be normal, I restart and load same save again and its black.
What mods shall I use to update DLC textures if im using NMC texture pack? Just the landscape etc., I already covered the armor, creatures etc.
I play on my computer on steam
My problem is with three dogs voice when I listen to the radio three dogs voice is so much louder than the music and I don't know what setting to change
I’m doing The Pitt DLC and just finished the arena. I noticed that Friday is a merchant who I can easily kill and take all her wares. I’m playing as a good character and she seems evil enough to kill for me. The first I want to make sure there are won’t be any consequences that will affect the story if I do this. Is it safer to let her be for now?
Howdy everyone,
So im trying to get Fallout 3 working via steams GOT version, I've patched it down to version 1.03, Installed the script extender and NVAC just to get the game to run (it crashes 100% of the time on windows 11 without these steps) I have no other mods installed at all but the ingame font is just non existent. I can still highlight options on the main menu but there's no text what so ever anywhere in the game.
I've verified the files, tried running in computability mode for windows visa, xp and 7 and reinstalled the game but still no text.
Does anyone have a fix to this problem? Googling has provided a lot of dead ends and suggestions to use the GOG version but id rather not buy the same game twice if a fix is possible.
Edit: In my case, it might actually be the 88.2k setting specifically. Switching to my PC's headphone jack, higher frequencies like 192k worked fine.
TL:DR seems this game doesn't like higher Hz audio settings, set your sound settings in windows to 16 bit 48000Hz and see if that works.
I started replaying Fallout 3 recently and was having a constant stutter on the radio even after the mission to repair the signal. I looked around and mostly found a lot of people coming up with nothing. I did see one person mention this as a potential fix but no one replied if it worked or not:
I'd have put this in one of the threads that pops up on Google when you search for it but all of them had closed comments.
