Hello everyone! This is showcase of my cover mod for New Vegas. Earlier, I shared various tests of mechanics that were intended to be part of the mod. Now, I’ve put it all together and can show how it will look in combat.
I put the FO4 tag just because it's a rule but this could apply to any game. I've been working on a small quest mod and don't have access to professional voice acting. I bought a subscription to ElevenLabs and am absolutely amazed about what it can do. Just for fun I decided to make some AI voice lines for the dialogue in my mod and am heavily considering including them in the final release. One is a completely new generated voice, but the other is a cloned voice from New Vegas (AdultMale05). I began formatting the mod page on Nexus and included a disclaimer that states,
This mod uses voice lines created using Artificial Intelligence, some inspired by a voice actor that lent their voice to Fallout New Vegas. If you are the original voice actor, or a representative of the original voice actor and wish for this content to be removed from this mod, please contact me ASAP.
My question to you guys is how do you feel about this sort of content? I've been hemming and hawing over it for a few days and wanted to get some input from folks who probably know more about modding than I do. My goal with this quest mod is to create as close to an official expansion as I could make it, and with that comes a certain quality expectation. I feel that not including voice acting leads to a less immersive user experience, but I don't have the ability to create high quality audio with my own equipment. Using AI just seems to be the most economically viable and logical option for me.
Im making a mod that add perks to increase player weapon swing speed in melee/unarmed.
I copied the QuickHands reload effect (it affected the weaponreloadspeed value, I created a new one using it as base and changed it to use weaponmultspeed value instead, which affects melee speed) - it should work, but to get it to work just for melee/unarmed I must set a condition on the perk effect to filter it to those types of weapons only. The best way is GetWeaponAnimType like I used to do in FNV,.
The thing is, I cant find what the values mean for FO4 CK for the life of me.
For example, in FNV if the GetWeaponAnimType returns 0, 1, 2 or 3 it is melee or unarmed, values higher than 3 are associated with guns etc. What are the values in FO4? Why is this game so hard to mod jesus, every bit of information out there is like a state secret or something.
I was making lists of mods for a replay of Fallout 4 and it seems like stuff is either broken or not updated for years. Like Weaponsmith requires New Calibers, but there hasn't been an update in 3 years and I also hear some other stuff about mod authors abandoning the site (Nexus) and not updating to mods to the latest updates.
I'm going for a Lost World kinda vibe based on what I remember of it prior to that being taken down as well. Gas masks, cool guns, creepy elements, etc.
I'm just trying to know if it's worth the time sink or if there's any steps that would make modding easier with the new status quo of Fallout 4 modding.
Cant get cait out of combat zone even old saves dont work. Any console command ideas?

so. i launched the fallout modded game without playing it for 2 days and i was greeted with that my ini files were back to default (like when you install the game from 0) and i tried to write the ini settings back but when i start the game it goes back to default. is there any fix to this?
I've been noticing more and more missing textures and I think Scrap Everything broke my save file. My modlist is basically the Midnight Ride modlist + Scrap Everything and Backpacks of the Commonwealth. I'm 100 hours in in playthrough and at Level 69 and I would hate to start over again. I tried to record it happening but it only happens occasionally. Looked all over online and I heard it breaks pre-combines but I'm not sure what the effects of having them messed up looks like so I can't tell if Scrap Everything is the real culprit. I don't want to invest more hours for it to be not playable after. Can someone tell me whether or not I'm better off restarting without Scrap Everything?
I installed the PRC X Enb and it is working, I can see the overlay and the effects, but my video memory is capped at 8gb. I know you can change it in Enb Local but I don't have that file, I've reinstalled the Enb preset as well as enb series itself, I've searched the entire my games folder in case the directory changed and I downloaded a copy of EnbLocal and put it into the directory manually but the game doesn't recognize it.
Has anyone had this before and found a way to fix it?

The quest isn't showing up in my pip-boy even though I can teleport into the institute now, I checked in the board room too and nobody was in it.
Edit: Didn't know I had to wait a day. Nevermind.
I'm thnking about the the wasteland edition too. The description says Wasteland addition uses regular faces, suggesting vanilla settler faces, which don't need Facegen. Anyone have the breakdown on these mods (lite edition, settler, wasteland variants)?
Pressing M, I and so on won't bring up the map, inventory and the other pipboy submenus on vanilla Fallout 3, is there any way to do this?
I've been reading the Stewie's tweaks options but it seems there's no more hotkeys toggles besides specific ones like ending up the kill cam with left alt and pressing 1-9 for dialogue options, among others.
I'm more interested in having a map hotkey than anything else. Thanks.

I'm looking for any mods that have any Super Mutant-sized Power Armor.
It can be gained from a bunker or looted from a enemy (I take your strongest Frank Horrigan). I just need one armor
It just feels weird to have Boone with the Salvaged Armor, Veronica with the T-51 and Cass with the Remnant Armor and Lily has to rely on her dense skin

If I use 3 large texture mods that cover different textures, some overwrite each other but I have them in order that I like. And all 3 packs have their own pre-generated LOD plugins.
Do they (LOD) stack?
If I installed all 3 pre-generated LODs, does the game just ignore the first 2, and only loading the last one?
Or is LOD like a normal texture pack, if there are some areas not covered by one pack but are by another, then they will effectively merge on screen?
Is there any benefit to using multiple or just pick the one I like the look of the most?
For the past week, I've been messing around with the GECK, trying to get a feel for it, watching a bunch of tutorials and reading the wiki. I made my first "mod" today (a simple QOL thing adding more map markers in places I need them, kinda like a "Hello World" thing). Aside from an endless plethora of issues (like crashing when I want to change the .esp author name), it works fine.
I've got a bunch of ideas for projects of a fairly manageable size that I'd like to start working towards. Mostly adding small quests here and there, the occasional new building for those to take place in, the works.
However, before I get all knee-deep into this, I wanted to ask if there's any best practices I might want to know about. Anything that's obvious to experienced modders, but maybe not to newcomers. Whatever starting advice you have, give it to me.
As the title says I am in need of some help with my load order as my game keeps crashing at the splash screen. I do know what mod is causing the crashing, but I want it in my load order. Mod in question is Fallout DUST - Expansion Project. I had LOOT run if that helps.
Everything works fine until that mod is enabled.
