Advice, information, and first-hand accounts about finding cool stuff in, or making cool stuff out of, trash.

Yesterday I saw near trash some broken toys and at first glance I took it as some baby toys and planned to dismiss it but later went in to take a look and saw almost perfect state lego minifigure and took it. It was missing few parts so i guess someone accidentally got it mixed in the ruined toys. After coming back home I kinda felt weird, almost disgusted for some reason I don't know. (I had gloves on before touching anything and there was no foul smell anywhere)
Should I just not bother with it anymore to not feel more weirded out or was it just normal reaction? Anyone would know?
Found this one next to the bin in my local trash zone. Any idea if repaparing this is worth it?
How do you know if something in recycling or a dumpster (not food) is actually trash and not someone's parents/siblings/relationship partner getting mad and throwing all their favorite stuff away?
I am having a debate with my boyfriend I found these in the dumpster they smell fine and I looked up the company and they seem legit. Would you use them or is drugs from the dumpster a no deal?
Aside from things being expired as far as food items go, what is the actual purpose or intent behind corporations throwing out this much stuff?
I’ve been watching the sub for a while now and it is completely staggering how much waste is going on.
Re-invigorated to go out & find some treasure! I used to go to half price books & Whole Foods for a lil supplemental fun & food before the lockdown. I live in a near downtown residential area with a lot of rentals, so my favorite time of year to dumpster dive was summertime when leases end for furniture and oddities.
Looking to try out some new spots like REI, CVS or food spots & wondering if anyone had advice on day of the week or time?
Found basically every supplement someone could ever need.....donating most of these to the community pantry!
Anyone in Rva(west end) wanna tag team some stores?
1 case minus 2 broke. All in the trash still in the original case. Clean off the broken glass and sauce. Great pickup.
So what's the first thing friends and family say when they open your fridge?
Energy drinks, pretzels, and 39 cans of Vienna Sausages 😳
Hello all,
I’m not a professional DD like yalls. Like I don’t have the balls to go to a stores dumpster but I will look around the dumpster at my apartment complex and last week I found this. Brand new they go for $800.
Got this on a bulk pick up day. Don’t know if it belongs here but I was ecstatic. It was in the trash… so…
hello, hope everyone is well. i am new to the community and want to get into diving. i have heard people say(don't remember where) that they have good luck diving at colleges when holidays roll around(like christmas, spring break etc). is that a good idea? is it worth it? let me know if any of yall have done it before
I recently started picking garbage to try and fix it. My dad likes fixing things, and I want to learn these valuable skills and spend more time with him. So I'll pick up stuff from the garbage! My first grab was a shark vacuum 2 days ago. It's a 150 dollar vacuum, and nothing was wrong with it! Just dirty. I cleaned and sanitized it (outside)
Today, I picked a 400 dollar bosch miter sliding table saw. Again, there's nothing wrong with it. I'm amazed and hooked!
I’m curious if there are stores that are just never worth it. Also I don’t know if this is related but I never see any 🎯 hauls on here. is that because of their strict security ?
