Just a personal opinion but I've found that since the new Mandurah line came in for example back in 2008, it saw a large exodus of 'nightlife' and local investment and a rise in homelessness and drug related crime.
I remember in my youth the city was vibrant and constantly building something new and exciting but now it seems to have stagnated somewhat.
I mean they spent something like $700k on fancy loos I read somewhere!
Anyway, do you think there will be a similar flow on effect at the new terminuses?
Spotlight - why even bother? Refunded 4/6 items. USELESS.
Hey guys going rotto with friends this Friday. Looking to swim and snorkel. Reading on different threads people mentioned depending on the wind then certain bays will be protected/sheltered.
Is it possible to predict which bays those with me with the wind forecast?
Cheers
Hello people. My family and I built a house in Caversham recently and have been living in it for about a year. We've noticed that there's a crusty texture/build up on this wall. Directly behind this wall is the guest shower/bathroom.
We usually have a cabinet there so we hadn't noticed it until we replaced the cabinet yesterday.
Does this look like some kind of water damage? Perhaps from shower water seeping through the brick or tiles? Any help would be appreciated, especially how to proceed to sort it out. Cheers.
Normally I buy a takeaway 12oz (2 shot) coffee for $5. 8oz (a normal 1 shot) is around $4.50.
I've been to two coffee shops near the CBD this week and the 'large' is the same price but smaller at 10oz and the small has been a 6oz cup.
Has anyone else noticed that this is happening? :(
Hello Everyone,
I’m a recent import to Perth and looking to know about a venue where I can watch the final F1 race of the season. Preferably close to the city.
Any recommendations would help.
Thanks
are there actually wombats in wembley???
Wondering if anyone has been to izakaya tori in vic park planning on going there with a few mates soon as an end of year celebration dinner. Is there any dishes that are an absolutely must get? None of us are that picky and are happy to try whatever.
Hi all
Moved to Gero recently for work and have Christmas vacation coming soon for a week.
I am by myself so I don't have any friends here. I am looking for things to do during the Christmas break. I love Adventures and fun things to do like hiking, camping, etc. I also like travelling by trains. I don't want to go insane sitting at home for a week doing nothing so I was wondering if there's any activities, tour groups, day tours, etc. at or near Geraldton. Happy to travel to Perth or any other places like Kalbarri etc.
I'd like to hear your suggestions.
Thanks in advance
For a 4jj1.
If anyone has done what’s your experience been?
How much does it cost for dyno tune, exhaust etc?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Hello! This isn't necessarily a visa related question just going to explain my situation.
My GF is currently a doctor in Ireland (newly appointed) and after a year she wants to do a year or two in Australia. After some research we found out she'll most likely be on the skilled shortage visa with me added as de facto partner (we've also researched the de facto partner and shouldn't have any issue adding me as we've been together for 4 years and have a joint bank account and plenty of proof)
My main issue is how tough will it be to get an IT related job in Australia? For some context and pointers:
while added as de facto I have full working rights, none of that "only 6 months in one place" stuff
I am currently employed as a system engineer at Oracle. It's basically a fancy version of tech support, lot of database management, admin work, small bit of cyber security, some odd scripting here and there. Been here for 3 years and will be 4 by the time we move.
Now I'll be real with you all, I'm not looking for the whole package. 120k aud a year? Nah, I'll happily take 70k. Fully WFH? Nah lad, I'll take 8 days in the office. I just wanna get my foot in there in what ever form of IT I can whether it's cyber security, support, sys admin.
I know the market is fairly banjaxed world wide, highly saturated but I'm more so worried that due to the fact I'm on a visa regardless of full working rights everyone will just throw my CV in the trash. Any advice welcome.
As the title says, we're new to the country and have purchased my wife a Peugeot 4008 a month ago as a cheap runaround car to get started. Just Today we have heard a couple small knocking noises coming from the engine, Managed to get home as we were only 5 mins away on a maccas run and the low oil pressure light has gone on. I've checked the oil and found there's nothing left in her.
I plan on purchasing some oil to fill her up first tomorrow morning but as there was no oil and the knock as already started I would expect the engine to have already worn down or heated internally.
In NZ we have consumers guarantee where you could dispute some of it. Does Australia have something like this that protects the consumer at all?
Edit: would a second hand car dealer(business) be considered a car yard or a dealership here. Does that change anything?
Update edit: thanks for the comments and insight to aus consumer law, I had notified the dealer and they are happy to work something out even if out of warranty for up to 1 year. Just to add as some of the comments questioned it, The car was serviced just before we brought it and oil was checked and in the middle level of the dipstick gauge. No signs of an oil leak having been under the car again and no noticeable signs of smoke when driving, in saying that my wife does drive it and only on occasional weekends I drive it due to having a brand new work vehicle.
Hi all, was planning on going camping the first week of the new year down south. I know it can get busy so was thinking of going further to Esperance for more of a chance of finding a spot. Anyone familiar with any free/paid camp sites down south/ if I’m no chance of finding anything over this busy period, lmk!
yalls got any private chefs or smth? i am kinda new to working full time and i am DEAD. I think i'd rather starve than make meals for myself tbh. I aint got no energies.
Has anyone used Mt Lawley Art Framers recently? How long did you have to wait for your art to be framed?
We dropped off a few things to be framed three months ago. The business did mention it may take a little while, however didn’t provide a clear timeframe. They have never reached out to us about a delay, we’ve always attempted to contact them by email and phone (they didn’t email back and they don’t answer the phone). We managed to get a couple of things back by physically going into the store. We are still waiting on other items and the lack of communication is getting frustrating.
After a life upheaval I am thinking to move to Perth from Sydney to be closer to family.
For those who have made the move, what have your personal pros and cons? Do you think it has been financially better for you?
For some context, I do not drive and currently live in the cbd. I would want to have a lifestyle close to the beach.
Been growing a beard for months.
You see those barbershops on youtube where the barbers actually know how to do a beard properly?
I have yet to find a good one in Perth.

^^ I love this video where the barber transforms friggin SANTA CLAUS into a respectable grandpa.
Tell me about a REAL men's barbershop. A place that knows beards and how to sculpt one properly.
My own attempts have been less than ideal.
Looking for a D&D Group in Perth (17, Player, Weekends)
Hey everyone!
I’m 17 and looking to join a Dungeons & Dragons group in Perth for in-person sessions. I’m available on weekends and would prefer to be a player rather than a DM.
I’m happy for the location to be decided by whoever the DM is, as long as it’s somewhere we can all access. Ideally, I’d love to join a group with people around my age for a fun and chill campaign.
If you’re a DM looking for players or a group looking for someone to join, feel free to reach out!
Hi all, What’s the pay rate for kitchen hands/dishwashers? Looking for a second income to cover Santa expenses. Thought I’d check here first so I have a rough idea before I approach a restaurant. Cheers
Hi Community, l will move to Perth in January, l applied for the master of social work (qualifying) with UWA and l have been approved. Is it a good university? any direct experiences about this master?
So firstly, I am aware that my bank account is about to be fucked on but I cannot find the Christmas decorations for the life of me.
Where SOR can I find some decent Christmas tree decorations that won't eliminate my remaining Christmas funds? Don't need lights as my cats are fucked in the head.
I've got a DOL starter to switch my bore pump on and off. Is there a product out there which can be retrofitted so I can control it with an app on my phone? Ideally I'd also be able to set auto on/off timers with the app too.
Heres the link to my unused ticket.

Does anyone who missed out want to go? Should be a good show.
Hi I'm wondering if anyone knows how far out the parking rates change? I know they have $99 long term parking but the closer you get to the date the more expensive it gets, but I can't find out when the price starts to increase. Does anyone know that could tell me? I always forget to book it and can never seem to get the $99 rate.
Anyone got recommendations for effective indoor fly traps that can handle decent sized flies? They keep getting in when we open the door, etc.
Doesn't seem like Bunnings still sells those sticky paper rolls, and many of the plug-in blue light + glue sheet ones have conflicting/few reviews.
