Hi, after having gone through all the souls, I'm finally trying DS2 and I'm loving it. This post is to express my opinion and how much fun I've had on this journey (and to ask for help with the farms related to the online mode and necessary for the plantation)

I’m currently at the “rat thing” boss fight and i need to say that with my cleric build it doesn’t look good for me. But I think that there’s something deeply wrong in this boss fight, how am I supposed to fight them. Fuck this game…

I know about the Center Deadzone Fix mod but this seems to be a separate issue

If you slowly push the camera joystick out from the center, the camera speed seems to be relatively constant until you make it past some radius, at which point it very suddenly jumps up by like a factor of 2. Is there a way to make the camera speed vary more linearly wrt how far out the joystick is? This has always been my biggest gripe with DS2 controls

Has anyone else had this issue where the Lion's roar from Shaded Woods just continues on throughout the game, well after leaving the Shaded Woods?

I have experience in almost all of the other Souls games except for DeS. This includes Sekiro, BB, and ER. Typically I like playing Strength builds (or Quality builds) because of being able to stagger. I don't typically use any form of magic in the games because I just find that I don't use them much. I'll use pyromancy occassionally. However, I've been reading some forums and I've heard that Magic is quite good in this game outside of the DLC's as compared to the other Dark Souls games. If I were to do Strength or Dex in addition to magic, which should I pick; Intelligence, Faith, or Hex? Should I not pick any of these and just do Pyromancy? Also would there be a reason for me to pick Dex instead of Strength? There's so many options and I'm trying to figure out what the best way for me to play would be.

So all the wikis say in SotFS the Varangians in No-man’s Wharf are supposed to drop regular Titanite Shards but I’m cleaning out the place and I don’t think I’ve gotten a single one. Anyone had any luck farming there?

This is my first full playthrough of DS2, been a member of the Covenant of Champions the entire game, just went to the wiki page to check how many awestones i need to get the rewards and saw "makes every enemy deal 50% more damage and decreasing the player damage by 20%"/ What. The. Fuck. No wonder I'd been struggling on some of the bosses and thinking the damage I was taking was fucking ridiculous.

Was it hard? I've gotten dark souls 2 and decided to 100% so i was wondering if it's difficult or just annoying. Also I'm playing the original on PS3 so I can't do online stuff so are there achievements that need online?

I'm looking for a powerstance build for my first playthrough. I played through Elden Ring with bleed bandit curved swords and wondered if there was something like that here?

For me it was definitely sir alonne. Ik most people say fume knight but sir alonnes travelling upward slash alone puts him top for me.

Seriously, who thought it was a good idea to make every heide knight here perma aggro on you if you attack a single one?

I understand and appreciate them being added here thematically, but it seriously makes the run to old dragon slayer boss arena soooooo painful if you want to open that chest before the dragonrider fight. Not to mention once you get there you have to deal with the newly added drake…

These enemies are some of the hardest in base ds2, especially for a low level character, which you will be considering it’s one of the first areas in the game.

Alot of the scholar changes im fine with, but i hate what they did to this zone.

My brother and I are trying to do a new playthrough together on PC but we keep running into issues connecting online. Sometimes it will work as soon as we login on the start screen, other times I have to click start off line and then click the go online button and then it'll work, but neither of us could connect at all the other day. Both of us are on the same wifi and we have played several times already but we couldn't connect at all recently. Anyone else having these issues or know a solution?

Peeps make it sound and look so easy....not. I have died more to this *)&^& boss than all others combined. Well maybe not counting Sentinels, but it's close.

It's probably because I'm just not a big roller in these games. I prefer to shield up and evade by strafing a bit...but he's so massive and starts pounding down. And Lucatiel hardly ever survives for me, so I just gave up trying to keep her alive. She's there for Iron Keep boss anyhow I think.

But anyhow trying to evade and he's so big there's hardly anywhere to go without backing into a fire pit.

I just fricking hate this boss fight and am beginning to hate the Black Gulch. Resisted urge to delete char. This is a mighty strong Hexer too....but Dark Orbs doing like 50 dmg so that's not going to help.

Anyhow, 4 deaths so vent time. I've beaten it with probably 10 chars already.....but it's been awhile...so probably rusty....but man. I have also deleted a char that kept dying here...........

Actually not “this guy” in particular, fuck the necromancers and they’re little skeletons that gang up on me, oh and the run back too.

In all seriousness I’m really enjoying this game so far

Me and my buddy have been playing the game together and we’re finally about to beat the main game we have Ancient Dragon, Vendrick, and then the final bosses. I want to kill Vendrick but first we’re getting the giant soul from Ancient Dragon and after we kill him we’ll have 3 giant souls but should we get the other 2 as well? I mean Vendrick really isn’t all that hard but will his health still be crazy large with just 3 giant souls? What do you recommend?

For some context: I never played the Souls games when they were first coming out. I didn't really understand them, and I thought the design theory behind "everything is obscured and not told to you" made the games more frustrating then fun. I was 14 when DS1 released, and while my brother loved it, it just never clicked for me.

Jump forward to about a year before Elden Ring DLC came out - a friend of mine loved the game and asked me if I wanted to do a modded coop run with him. I said sure, picked it up, and man did that start me on a path.

I ended up putting 300-400 hrs in ER, and got every achievement. Then the DLC was announced, and we decided we would play through every DS game in order and do all bosses as a way to hype us up and prepare for the new DLC.

I loved DS1 on my new playthrough. The way the map connected areas and shortcuts to reveal metroidvania like upgrades to help you progress in harder areas - it clicked for me. I finally understood why people loved DS1.

Then it came time to play DS2, and man nearly all discourse around it was confusing and angry. People saying that it was a tarnish to the entire series, some people saying not to play SotfS and instead just play Vanilla and vice versa. I decided to play through SotfS, and man I gotta say when I was playing it I hated it - everything felt cheap and unfair and like that the agility system along with the enemy density made a frustrating early game.

And then, it clicked for me.

This post is already too long, but to make it slightly shorter, it wasn't until my return after the ER DLC and doing a fresh playthrough of all the games again to make me realize DS2 was not only good, but it had become my favourite FromSoft game of all.

There's just something magical and special about the world of DS2 - the way everything looks, the weight and movement of your attacks and character. I still love swinging a colossal greatsword and seeing my Wanderers cloak be moved by the air pressure created by the sword swinging.

The combat is definitely my favourite part of the game - powerstancing, the different weapons with different movesets. Don't even get me started on bosses, things like the Looking Glass Knight is not only my favourite boss from an aesthetic and tonal perspective, but from a gimmick standpoint as well.

I know its such a circle-jerk to praise a game in it's own sub, but DS2 with all it's faults, has so much personality and depth in mechanics and features compared to other FromSoft games that it not only is a game I look forward to replaying, but has become my ultimate favourite FromSoft game. I'm not saying this is the "best" of their games, but it is by far and away my favourite of all time.

DS2 > DS1> ER > DS3 (I haven't played BB)

hey guys so earlier today i went into offline mode (steam) because of all the post on reddit and discord about there being hackers and such. but when i beat the game i didn’t get the achievement “the heir”. so i looked it up and pretty much they say that steam itself needs to be online for achievements to track even if u turn off your internet for a quick sec. cool but once i went back online and unlocked said achievement again nothing popped up. anybody else experience this? am i screwed?
