A couple of months ago, I completed my Elden Ring RL1. However, I mainly went through boss fights with cold-infused star fists and lacked weapon variety. This led me to the idea of doing an RL1 where I could only use a weapon for one boss fight, and after that fight, I wouldn't be able to use it for the rest of the run. I must make a plan consisting of which weapons to use against certain bosses and maximize each weapon's utility. I think I have a general idea of which weapons to use against certain bosses, but I am open to suggestions for specific bosses, so I thought I'd make a post here!
Here are the rules I am imposing on myself:
General Rules:
- One boss per weapon
- I can use as much of a weapon and switch between weapons when traversing normal areas but as soon as I beat a boss with a weapon I can no longer use it
- I can use multiple weapons for a single boss but can no longer use either of them after completion
- seals and staffs can be reused but incants and sorceries cannot be
- ashes of war cannot be reused
- Talismans/Tears/Equipment can be reused
- Craftables/Consumables cannot be reused
- Torrent can be used for all fights (where useable)
Probably could infer this, but no summons either :)
EDIT: I am also not using any scadu blessings for the dlc
Got any tips? Builds?
Happy to begin my journey through all the games again!
I’ve gotten to phase 3 a few times, but I’m always losing flasks to attrition. How do y’all script the first phase?
Mine looks something like:
But I really struggle whenever they’re both in melee or both in ranged, or when the ranged one is really close and keeps spitting Toxic everywhere. What do y’all do in those scenarios?
I’m using the Raw Battle Axe, it does decent damage but not amazing. But I’m mainly just concerned about dodging and keeping my flasks up.
I just finished my first RL1 run a few days ago, with Mohg as the final boss, right after Malenia. But I realized I haven't posted some of the earlier fights yet. I'll check if I have more saved, and if I do, I'll share them with you guys!
To preface, I’m about to run through sens fortress and I’ll likely use my souls to buy a large titanite from the dude in the tower but man I feel so weak lol gonna try and rush for a +10 Morningstar. My pyromancy flame is +14 but I don’t quite know which spells to use besides fireball and maybe combustion/power within? I’m trying to also save up enough souls after O&S to buy all the chaos spells from Quelana. Spells feel awkward to use since I’m a UGS user at heart lol
Any recommendations right now? I don’t wanna say I’m hitting a wall but I would like to not take 3 minutes to fight a manserpent with the MS if I run out of pyromancy
This boss has been the first major roadblock in my RL1 hitless run, specifically Phase 2 'cause Phase 1 is pretty simple now that I've mastered it (this fight is 100x more bearable if you turn off lock-on but his attacks can still come from off-screen regardless). The thing that keeps killing me is less so his massive one-shot arm attacks and moreso the chip damage from the fucking fire AOEs, and I barely get any chances to even punish him since his dumbass is constantly panic rolling.
I've watched and studied many RL1 hitless clips of his second phase from the goated people in this sub and there's not much of a common be-all end-all strat to it: some people attack his legs to have more damage opportunities but less individual damage per hit, whilst others stay in front of him to attack his hands whenever he puts them down for higher damage per hit (since that's his weak spot) but less punish opportunities since he likes to bring them back up every-now-and-then. Should I aim for his hands or legs?
Is it just me or is his aggression incredibly inconsistent? Sometimes he does virtually nothing and allows me to easily poise break him with a triple charged R2 whilst other times he keeps rolling the fuck around and stopping me from even landing a single charged R2. I then tried to spam my R1s since they're faster and allow me to react-to his roll sooner so I can dodge it before I get crushed by his massive cock, but then I output far less damage and get virtually no poise breaks which makes the fight an absolute chore. But then if I DO go for the charged R2s and poise breaks I can make the fight go by way quicker if I get good RNG and hope that he doesn't roll spam or shoot his fire breath at me. Maybe I could do a bit of both, but I must first learn which of his attacks have a long-enough recovery window to warrant charged R2s and which ones are so quick that I should only use R1s.
My weapon is the Cold Club +18 and I'm not wearing any armor, this is because I'm doing what Ongbal did by challenging myself to stick to the original Wretch build for the entirety of the game (save for any Talismans and Smithing Stone upgrades) so I unfortunately cannot cheese Phase 2 with Black Flame Tornado. I'm not here for build tips but rather general combat tips against this boss, so I would generally prefer to hear more of the latter. Nonetheless, any advice that doesn't go against my run restrictions would be massively appreciated, thanks y'all.
I’m gonna be frank here, plastic dual sacks was dead before I died and as such I will be calling this Hitless no matter what. I am curious about other opinions so if you agree or disagree please tell me why
