Give suggestion for my first challenge run!

I've just finished playing 5 runs straight of DS1, one for strenght, dexterity, inteligence, faith and pyromancy. Now I want to get more of a challenge, please suggest something!

I got invaded by a player using hack for the first time: it was an awful experience!

Arriving at the O&S fog gate, I was invaded by a player.

He was wearing the boar helmet and the elite knight set.

He teleported in flashes from the middle of the hall to the gate, and I was pressed against the wall without any animation, just the invader next to my character, dragging me "stuck" through the walls while my hp gradually decreased.

Oh, a small detail, I was poisoned the moment he got close to my character, which explains the gradual loss of hp but the pacing of the loss was really high.

After dying, there was no option to "indict" him.

I have invaded on a few occasions and been invaded on several, but this was the first time I saw someone using a hack in the remastered.

Well, thats it.

Did you guys face this frequently in these days or it was just bad Luck?

Weird thing happened today: a player was able to speak through voice, instead of common gestures!

This is my third or fourth Dark Souls run and I've never seen this before. Okay, I haven't played for a while, but I don't remember this happening before.

Context:

I summoned two people at the Anor Londo bonfire (after the archers), and one of them started spamming sounds like the following words

  • Hello
  • I am sorry
  • well done/giant dad/right there (the third word was hard to understand, but I thought I heard one of those 3)

The voice was clearly altered, becoming thick, low (with bass) and muffled, it seemed like a common voice-altering program

The guy was also using Mask of the Father and something that looked like Giant Dad's build

I decided to use the Separation Crystal and banish him.

One player was normal and had 219 "multiplayer wins or assists" and the player who was spamming only had 12. I dont know of this info is useful, but its Here.

after banning him, the voice spamming words stopped

does anyone know what might have happened or if there is some mechanic that allows you to vocalize words in the game?

I'm confused with this.

Edit: Solved!

Thank you everyone for the explanation!

He was probably using the carvings.

I literally for for about them.

Need help for 4 Kings SL1 (no pyro and no armour)

I have been doing a SL1 run with no pyro and no armour and I am absolutely stuck at 4 kings. I am able to dodge his melee attacks but everytime the magic blast or the grab attack gets me. How do you dodge these attacks?

I am carrying a fire reinforced club +10 and the grass crest shield. I tried carrying the crest shield as that has higher magic defence but I really need the extra stamina regen from the grass crest. Please help. I have been stuck here for 3-4 days now.

Can someone explain to me how poise works in the later games compared to DS1

I know a lot of people complain that poise was "ruined" and I don't actually know how it works in the later games

Considering why gwynvere married Flann.

It is unknown why she did so. But it is said that they had several children.

I believe she did so because she was paid by patches.

Speaking of patches, he nearly destroyed the world once after allowing Gideon to combine with Radahn and the greater will, allowing them to destroy anor Londo.

I refuse to go hollow!!!

So... it began about a month ago. I was making steady progress, emboldened by the mantra whispered by countless undead before me: "git gud". My charge into the Duke's Archives was reckless, fueled by vengeance against the pale, scaleless dragon who cut me down with such disdain in our first encounter. Little did I know, the true battle wasn’t against Seath, oh not at all, it was against the hours to come.

The Archives, an endless labyrinth of towering shelves and cursed tomes. Sorcerers in robes of shadow haunted my every step, their magic carving wounds into my resolve. I searched high and low, floor after floor, but the pale beast eluded me. No path seemed clear, no clue in sight. Desperation crept in.

At last, I stumbled upon it, the Crystal Cave. Its cold, pristine beauty was a mocking contrast to the torment that led me there. The battle with Seath was over in a blink, and though victory should have brought me joy, it was hollow, fleeting. The emptiness within began to grow.

Undeterred, I turned my gaze to the Tomb of Giants, another shadowy whisper in the wind. I descended into the Catacombs, and there, the weight of my journey truly bore down upon me. Catacomb after catacomb, skeletons reassembling with every step, the faint glow of a distant bonfire my only solace. My steps faltered. My purpose blurred. I was running, searching, but for what? No signs, no direction. Just the maddening void of uncertainty.

And so, after countless futile attempts, I returned to the bonfire, sat in its meager warmth, and let the darkness claim me. I went hollow. Days turned to weeks, and then a month. Every time I thought of returning, the chasm in my chest seemed to deepen.

But today.....today is different. Today, I refuse to let despair chain me. I rose from the ashes of that bonfire with a resolve I thought lost. I come here now, seeking a nudge in the right direction. Just a spark, enough to light my way.

For I shall not remain hollow. I will rekindle the First Flame.

TL;DR: I beat Seath and don't want to go to the Tomb of Giants. Please nudge me in the right direction. Thanks

Hello Sunbros! This might be a scummy question but I'm gonna go for it since I'm short on money.

You guys think I should wait until the winter sale or should I purchase DS2 SOTFS, and DS3 right now, becouse it is not guaranteed that it will be on sale again?

Chaos flame and parasites

Hey y’all been playing again, and I noticed blight town which is next to the demon ruins is filled with parasites likely from there. I wondered to myself why is that the Chaos flame created so many parasites. What was blightown? Perhaps a town before it was completely infested or just a wretched place from the start. I wish I knew more about these creatures particularly the parasites of dark souls because they seem so obscure. What do they signify, corruption because of ambition of the witch of izalith, could someone explain that, I feel like Grave Lord Neeto would have had these parasitic lifeforms because the trailer mentions death and disease which are usually associated with parasites.

What do you think would Lordran symbols look like? Banner, emblems, etc

In Ds2 you have Drangleic shield with their emblem, in Ds3 you have Lothric knights with shields and greatshields both having their own emblem and in DLC there are knights with a banner.

In Ds1 you have silver knights who represent the common soldier of Gwyn and they don't have any symbols representing their kingdom. The shield is just a normal shield with some lines, no tabard like Solaire's sun face, no banner or flag. So I wonder what would Lordran have as their symbol carried in battle, maybe a fire since Gwyn built a religion around it and also himself. Maybe lightning or idk his face to boost his ego even more. Or amazing chest to motivate his soldiers to fight demons. What do you think?

Ornstein & Smough regret

I may have made a mistake.

I'm in my first playthrough and I already defeated those two (really challenging).

But... I went for Super Smough. I've always prefered Ornstein so I wanted to honor him with wielding his armour and spear.

Instead, i killed him first because he was a pain in the ass and, as i heard, Super Smough was easier (not sure of that because that fat b*tch would spam his lightning ground stomp).

Have indeed made a mistake or not? Because, by not fighting Super Ornstein, it feels like i missed something.

Blighttown - Is it really that bad?

Blighttown. An unholy poison swamp mixed with gravity and red flaming dogs. I've played through the Dark Souls games every year since 2017 (just after DS3 Ringed City came out), and my views on Blighttown have changed a lot. People always hate on Blighttown for being clunky, ganky, overly poisonous, bad level, too hard etc, but it's not as bad as it was thought to be. I actually enjoy Blighttown to some extent. You can get down it very quickly if you know your way around, and if you do want to explore, then there are 2 bonfires to ensure that you can return to a safe point if you are in trouble, and there is pleanty of loot. You only die of gravity if you're careless, and sprint through the area (although sometimes that is not the case). The enemies are alright, as the big hefty boys are easy to backstab, and the ghouls have not that much HP, and it is also easy to backstab them. The big hole pit part is fun, and when you reach the bottom you can either sprint to Quelaag, ring the bell and sprint back out, or you can farm for green titanite, fight mildred, get the Great Club, explore the Great Hollow. Admittingly, there are a few annoying enemies, like the tiny red flaming dog things, that are way too small for a melee weapon, and are a bit too fast, there are also the toxic blowdart enemies, that can toxic you in one shot (but they don't respawn), and there are also the small mosquito things that are a nightmare to attack, but you can easily avoid them. It is definitely not as bad as the later areas in the game, like Lost Izalith, Tomb of the Giants or the Duke's Archives. Remember that this is just an opinion, but I still think that the game deserves a little bit more respect and less hate. What do you think?

To whomever invaded me in oolacile last night....

I have no idea how you got that backstab... but spamming parry and fishing was... really not fun.

I know pvp is a part of the game I opt into when human.. but uuuuuuugggghhhh.

Not fun.

Looks like I'll remain hollow and suicide after dealing with npc phantoms

(NG+ on switch, Mace, heavy armour and greatshield turtle cleric build. Not good for pvp)

/complaint over... git gud etc etc etc...

Questions about the timeline when it comes to the Fall of Oolacile

How many years ago did its fall take place before the beginning of the game? Asking because I’m RP’ing a character that’s a descendant of Artorias so I was just kinda curious when it happened.
