Looking for someone to take over the rest of my 1 bed/1 bath lease in Lake View East!
Also happy to provide pictures and videos!
I’m curious about what people typically ask or look for when touring apartments.
I’ll be touring both newer and older buildings, so I’m open to hearing about any specific situations you’ve encountered, as well as the standard questions you’d recommend asking. This will be my first time searching for an apartment on my own, and I’d appreciate any advice!
Hello all. Planning on relocating early next year and don't know much about the neighborhoods or best locations to be within walking distance to a solid music venue. Music is important to me and top of the list of reasons to move to a bigger midwest city.
I would really appreciate some starter ideas of apartment buildings to consider.
I'm moving on my own while my husband will ne flying in a couple weekends a month this first year. My budget is ideally around 2200, but there is some wiggle room. A studio is fine. However, I'd like a pool and somewhere that feels like the big city experience, as I've never had it.
I do have a car, that I love, a lot. So, parking is a consideration. I do not have a job yet, so that's not a part of the equation. I'd like somewhere centrally located that I can land for a year while I decide where we fit best long term.
Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. Thabk you.

I am looking to SUB-LEASE MY 1 BEDROOM APARTMENT IN WRIGLEYVILLE. I am looking to begin the sub-lease as soon as possible, the START DATE IS DECEMBER 1, 2024 (but we can discuss an earlier date).
I am moving back to my home state due to some family issues, and I am looking to have someone else finish my current lease (END DATE JULY 31, 2025). You should be able to renew with the management company if you are interested in living here after that.
The location is very nice, there are plenty of restaurants and stores nearby, it is very close to Wrigley Field, the lake is only a 10-15 minute walk, and there is a train stop (Sheridan) 1 minute away from the apartment building.
Pets are allowed.
Rent is $1645/month.
Wifi and water are included in the rent.
I do intend to move out entirely so it will be UNFURNISHED.
Here is a video of the apartment unfurnished: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTW0AjaosRo&t=5s
A sub-lease agreement will need to be signed by both of us with the apartment management company, which includes employment/credit check and app fee.
Please message me or reply here and we will schedule a tour and discuss further.
Thank you for your time.
I’m not quite sure if this allowed or if this is the correct place to post. I’m looking for help to move to Chicago. I’m 19(20 later this month) trans fem in a very unsafe town, and with how events have gone, I’m trying to figure out how to move up my plans to move to Chicago. It’s been a plan of mine to move there when I had enough funds to be able to fully move, but now more than ever it feels like I’m needing to get out of this town. I’m looking to talk with my current employer to figure out how to set myself up for a job in Chicago within the same company but overall affording to move there and affording rent on my own is what I’m worried about and wanted to reach out to the community to see if there’s any way I can get help/ find resources to help me move.
I am 35/F looking for a clean, organized female roommate—preferably a student. No pets. Private room and bathroom. $800 w/ utilities split. Quiet street. Located in Woodlawn, close to UChicago campus. Move in January or earlier.
I am looking for accommodation near UI Health for the month of December
The apartment kinda popped when I was looking on Zillow, but I’ve always been a little wary of big apartment buildings.
Has any one lived in or visited this building who can give me their opinion on it and its general management?
Hello. I'm looking for a room to rent starting in either December or January. I am looking for something with rent for $600 and under ideally with utilities included and laundry in the building.
I work and make a good income from going to schools unloading trucks and assembling furniture and also doing other side moving and labor jobs. I don't have a credit score since I have never used credit cards. I have a great track record with all of my past landlords for being a responsible problem-free tenant who always pays my rent on time. I am pretty quiet and spend much of my time studying and working. I don't smoke or drink, nor have any pets and I don't mind anyone elses pets. Please let me know if you know of any good fits.
Hi,I'm looking for a person to take over my lease anytime soon.
The room is a spacious studio in a streeterville with a great view of high-rise apartment.
The rent is $1785/ month.please comment or message me with any interests and questions, I will send you more info and pictures of the unit.
I'm doing research so I can figure out which neighborhood would be best to move to. One of the factors is affordability. Where would you rank these 11? Specifically rental affordability

Hello I am touring an apartment at the Commonwealth Apartments in Lincoln Park(?) and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?
Address: 2322 N Commonwealth Ave
Thanks!
I'm currently looking at a unit in an industrially-zoned building. It's all offices, except for a few units which are rented to live in. The units used to be offices. I would like this, as I'm an artist and I am looking for a live/work property.
The property manager said I would be signing a commercial lease.
Does this cause me to forfeit rights as a renter? What do I lose by doing this?
I'm moving into a co-op and looking to sublet my lovely 1B1B apartment starting early December (flexible) through June 1, 2025! Rent is $2,295 plus a $50 bundle for trash/water/sewer and then tenant pays for gas/electric (about $60-70/mo in my stay here so far).
Sublet stuff: App fee is $75. Their normal screening of credit, income, rental history, etc. (credit score ≥ 650 and monthly salary 3x rent)
Features: top floor unit ~600 sq ft, in-unit washer/dryer, high ceilings, modern appliances, tons of natural light (SW-facing windows), large balcony (~160 sq ft). Great location - close to Paulina brown line and Ashland/Belmont buses as well as tons of gyms (Core Power Yoga, Xsport, YMCA), grocery stores (Target, Whole Foods, Jewel, TJ's), and restaurants (lots of Thai nearby). Friendly neighbors and great landlords (Root Realty). Garage bike storage and limited car parking (not sure if there are any spots available atm)
Building is pet friendly but no smoking. I don't have any pets. Semi-furnished - open to leaving behind my couch and kitchen island (and chairs and rug). Feel free to comment with questions, DM me if interested, would like to see more pics or in person, etc. Thanks!!

Lake Shore Drive Apartment Available!
Hello, I am looking for someone to take over the lease for my INCREDIBLE one-bedroom Lake Shore Drive apartment here in East Lakeview, starting in February 2024. Rent is $1943, utilities are ~$30/month (gas/water/internet/cable/HBO are included!). This spacious apartment (720 sqft, but it feels bigger!) is steps from Lake Michigan, close to Jewel-Osco and the rest of Lakeview, and has truly excellent public transit options to get around the city. The apartment has large windows for lots of natural light, granite countertops in the kitchen, plenty of storage space (including a very big bedroom closet!), and central air. The building includes in-building laundry, a newly refurbished gym, and excellent security. I have absolutely loved living here, and would have continued to stay here for years if it were not for my career. The new lease would be one year and can be extended for a few months beyond that to get back on a summer cycle after that.
Sublease available in Uptown/Ravenswood 6 minute walk from Wilson station on a private, quiet, and safe street 1 bed/1 bath Pets welcome and no pet fee Laundry and fitness room in building Available Dec. 1 - March 31 (you can extend lease if wanted) 1600/month

Hi! I’m moving to Chicago in Dec/Jan and am looking for a studio or 1bdr apartment with utilities included. My budget is $1600/month. I’m looking at the area around Logan Square, Lincoln Park, Bucktown, Wicker park and within 10 mins walk to the L. Open to sharing a 2 bedroom apartment as well.
Hi everyone! Our spacious 1000sqft modern loft in South Loop would be available to move in 3/1/25! It’s a pet friendly 1bed1bath with in unit washer and dishwasher. There is a storage space, bike rack, laundry room, small gym, mail area, and on site maintenance. Rent is $2350, water included. For reference, electricity/heating averages to about $70 per month for two people and a dog! This loft is just an 8 minute walk to various cta color lines eg the Harrison red line/La salle blue line! There’s a Target, Whole foods, dog park, kindergarten, cafes, restaurants, bars, postal services nearby, and much more! Please let me know if you or anyone is interested! I can send more pics/videos, thank you!
Just trying to get some feelers as I make a decision. I have an amazing sun- filled corner 1 bedroom 1 bathroom unit at 'Alta at K Station' right in Fulton River district. Absolutely perfect location and a 2 min walk to the Kinzie bridge over the river. No need for a car if you don't have one or want to sell it. The lease goes through July 21, 2024. I'm considering a mid December sublease, but can be flexible. Rent is $2,475 with flat rate utilities at $110. Internet is free. Electric is on your own but is cheap, averaging about $40/mo.
This could be a perfect unit for 1 person or a couple! It's big at 868 square feet too and a highly sought after corner unit, which gives it that penthouse feel. The views are amazing and there's a nice sized balcony. It's under market price for the area and the corner units at the complex are now averaging $2,700. The building just redid all of their amenities as well and they're incredible. I am just looking to downsize to a studio in a nearby area due to getting less income than expected when moving here. Please comment or DM if you're interested!
Hi everyone!
I've been reading a lot of posts on this sub, but was hoping for some advice specific to my situation/tight deadline. I'm starting a job in the Streeterville area next month, and hoping to move in by December 5. Currently in a different state and looking to move with a cat. My max budget is $1300-1400ish, and I would prefer a studio/1BR but I understand that might not be so realistic with my current budget/off-market openings. If it's helpful, I'm in my early 20s.
Would you advise getting a realtor? I am definitely planning to visit Chicago before I start to tour apartments in person, but I won't be able to stay for longer than a day or two, so neighborhood walks would be tougher for me to fit in. However, I know realtors are hit or miss (any advice on finding a good one?)
What areas might be a good starting point given my budget and job location? I've been looking between the Loop to Lincoln Park on Domu, Craigslist, etc., but any specific recommendations would be appreciated!
Alternatively, would you recommend an AirBnb for my first couple of months here before signing a lease? Thanks so much, also welcome any other advice!
Hey all! My fiancé (26F) and I (26M) would be looking to potentially sublet our apartment. We love the area, the price, and the apartment itself is great, but my fiancé is just really struggling with city living and it’s getting to a point where a change may be necessary.
Our management company’s policy for sublet’s state that it would be our job to advertise the unit as well as showing it off.
I don’t have a problem with this, I just have no idea where to start. None of our close friends or family are looking for a new apartment in the city. So how do I go about “advertising” this thing to draw in a hopefully trustworthy rando?
Upstairs unit, large 3 bedroom + dining/family room 2 bath. Hardwood floors throughout, ample closet space. Walking from shopping and restaurants on Clark avenue + public transportation.
- In unit washer dryer
- Small dog/car is ok!
- No move in fees required
- Month to month contract
