    Virtues connected to powers

I'm coming up with a knight character that gets powers by getting the blessing of spirits of different virtues like compassion, loyalty, obedience, truthfulness, respect, justice, honor, honesty, humility, gratitude, generosity, love etc.

And I was wondering which powers would come with each virtue?

[Help] Half Angel šŸ˜‡ Half Demon šŸ˜ˆ Character

    1. Name: Augustine (August, for short)
    2. Gender: Male
    3. Age: 21

Known to many as an ā€œinfernal angelā€, Augustine is the son of an angel father and a demon mother. He knows the behavior, beliefs, and culture of both worlds, and has struggled for most of his life with deciding whether he should identify with his angelic nature or his demonic nature, in large part due to societal pressure from both sides. Many angels have been intimidated by some of his more demonic tendencies and some have even went as far as to force him to drop those aspects. Conversely, there have been demons that wanted to corrupt, exploit, or even kill Augustine. These attacks (both life-threatening and non-life threatening) resulted in Augustine and his family leaving home for a good amount of time. While it takes him a while to realize this, in the end, he will come to accept that both sides make up who he is, both in terms of their weaknesses and in terms of their strengths and that getting rid of one half of his character only made things worse for himself.

On the angelic side of things, August is a kind, energetic, and open-minded spirit that tries his best to help people to the best he can. Heā€™s also skilled in healing and gardening, which he got from his father and paternal grandmother. On the downside, though, sometimes Augustine can be pretty forceful and try to help someone who very clearly cannot or doesnā€™t want his help. Heā€™s also very prone to daydreaming and getting lost in his own world, thus making him come off as an airhead who canā€™t focus on the bigger picture at worst or is a bit distracted at best.

On the demonic side of things, August can have a bit of a temper, a rebellious streak (bordering on stubbornness), and isnā€™t shy about taking risks (to him, itā€™s better to try and fail than to never try at all), even if it could backfire on him, causing him to be reckless without even realizing it. August is also pretty seductive (which he inherited from his mother and maternal grandparents) and a bit kinkier than the average angel, but knows how to practice safe sex. This puts him at odds with the more puritanical angels who view his tastes in sexual relationships as sacrilege and the more hypersexual demons who see him as very reserved. While Augustine is slow to anger, he is also slow to calm down when that happens. In fact, he has a berserker form that comes out if you push him past his limit. And despite his open-mindedness, if Augustine has a plan, heā€™ll hold onto it, even when there are other (more reasonable) options, thus needing to be cut down to size every now and then.

While he likes to solve a conflict with patience and nonviolence, August wonā€™t hesitate to harm someone who made the grave mistake of angering him. Intentionally hurting his loved ones is the worst way of getting on his bad side. Unfortunately, August has had his moments where he takes this too far and he ends up hurting those who had done nothing to deserve his attacks, especially when he goes into berserker mode. In his berserker mode, Augustineā€™s angelic aspects are greatly diminished while his demonic tendencies are cranked up to a 100. Submerging him in cold water or singing a lullaby are the only ways of getting him out of his berserker form.

What do you think of this character design for Augustine? Is there something that that I should add or subtract?

character that have attachments to their bodies?

i was thinking about what is the best way to think about a character that has weapon attachment. what is the best way to think about it when creating a character having something like this. I know we can talk about cyborgs but im thinking more like humans that need a prosthetic sword or gun barrel.

Andy DĆlis , Archon of Loyalty

I had this idea for a character based on a world I had in mind. The long and short of it is that there are certain "Archons" so to speak, or incarnates of concepts or emotions. More complicated ideas (Sentinels, Guardians, Healers, Lovers, Leaders, etc.) are usually only found in intelligent, sapient species, while objects or creatures can embody other things (Ferocity, Cunning, etc.) while raw emotions or primal instincts are more powerful or at least older (anger, pain, joy, forgiveness).

Well, I had a silly or wholesome idea for a character. It works similarly to the faith systems in American Gods or Warhammer; the more faith or more that an aspect is embodied, the stronger the aspect and the stronger that those who embody it become. I have a lot of ideas around this setting of systems and want to elaborate on it more. Anyone can feel any of the emotions humans typically possess, it isn't like a hair trigger of anger turns people into berserks. However, particularly strong emotions or decisions to devote one's life to a particular aspect or archon does lead to enhanced effects. For example, if we go off of DND mechanics, a Sentinel at 1st level might have the ability to stay awake for extended periods of time if they are engaging in the act of guarding someone or something, which higher level Sentinels blatantly not needing to sleep.

For the character in particular, Andy would be a humble, small barkeep and shop owner. He is not particularly special or strong at least physically in comparison to other members of the party or world. He originally met his wife, a powerful lady and warrior, through her and her party's frequent stops into his tavern, where they frequently had begun to talk. Eventually, as members of her party parted ways and she opened up more to Andy, the two began to build a mutual attracting and eventually love for each other.

Also, he positively ADORES his wife, talking Gomez and Morticia kind of love. He has always been in decent shape, but he and his would-be wife would often train together as a form of bonding and mutual exercise, to the point where he gets to the point of being very skilled in combat as well as physically fit; keep in mind, she could still lift ten times the strength of men and other beasts, and he still would not be strong compared to beings in the world, but he would be of decently high human capability. He, despite his lack of particular supernatural power, tags along with his wife and manages his store, helping them through non-combat means and supporting them wholeheartedly. He is aware of his limitations and finds a certain humility in it, while also being very open about the fact he is happy he has a strong partner.

Upon the two officially being married, after years and years of his devotion toward her and their intense, healthy love, upon a group of wedding crashers seeking to engage in battle with his wife, he steps in front of her to fight in her stead for two reasons. For 1, as she has said to him as well, on at the very least this one day, she wants to be a lady, not a warrior. Secondly, and more directly, the wedding dress she is in is both very lovely, and very expensive.

As they attempt to move past him and bat him aside, he sustains quite a beating, but refuses to go down past the point any normal human being should have been able to withstand, before eventually outright stopping the swing of a Goliath barbarian. As he is enveloped in a deep blue aura, the sheer devotion he has held toward his wife for so long has managed to manifest itself into genuine, supernatural power. In other words, the short, Irish shop-keep that has constantly been on the backfoot, but managing to hang with otherworldly heavy-hitters, only sustained by sheer skill, practice, conditioning and will?

    He's on equal footing now.

P.S. "DĆlis" is a potential translation for "faithful/devoted" in Irish :>

i am currently in the process of making a new dnd pc and i wondering if any of you had some constructive criticism on their backstory?

Saoirse (aka Asteria), a tiefling who grew up with a distant, but supportive family. They joined the circus at a young age aiming to please their family, quickly rising through the ranks until they were one of the top performers. Their relationship with their parents began to sour because of the unwanted attention that their fame brought them, their love for performing stayed as strong as ever but when they asked to take a few weeks off to meet their family it was revealed that the contract that they had signed did not allow them to leave, ever, realizing it meant they had to perform increasingly dangerous and embarrassing acts such as what was clearly a freak show laughing at them for having unusual markings. Eventually, they ran away, trying to get back in contact with their family but were turned away, so they embraced a life of adventuring, finding themself filled with awe and wonder at the real world and real people they opted to stay as an adventurer for higher.

(they are a tiefling fighter if that helps)

Mr. Evil (I know very original)

The concept is pretty simple, there is a fictional city called genericity which he tries to destroy almost every day & whenever he tries to destroy it, something he does backfires which at best stops him from destroying the city or at worst outright helps the city drastically

Iā€™m currently creating a project for a character Iā€™m working on and I am open to suggestions

In terms of his occupation, he is a miserable lonely single male in his 20s who hates people. I think he would have a job but it would be low paid and not require people skills. What do you think his job would be? Reddit/Discord MOD is just his hobby.

He used to work in a cinema and as a groundsman in a primary school but was let go when it was emerged that he shouted obscenities in rage at pupils for messing with the sports equipment.

    Insect people jobs

Iā€™m building a world filled with humanoid bug people and I need this answer. What would be some good jobs for bugs? Iā€™m not talking about humans like entomology because thatā€™s what I keep finding online when I search up insect people jobs. Iā€™m talking about humanoid bugs doing regular jobs like humans. Like Iā€™ve seen the example of an ant would be a good chef, a hornet as a construction worker, etc. But I need more than that. Anyone have any ideas on what good jobs there are for certain insects?

Do you think your character would like to have a pen pal? There's a place to find one!

    Hi everybody,

I wandered into your community and thought you might like the following idea. There is a subreddit in which you can find a pen pal for your original character. It is called r/fictitious_letters

People there slip into the roles of imaginary persons and write letters to each others.

You'll find the original characters of all kinds of people there: daydreamers, worldbuilders, writiers, roleplayers, history nerds who like to reenact life in bygone times.

Penpalling in character is a lot of fun. But, in addition, it can help you to flesh out your character and their world. Writing to an imaginary penpal makes you consider your character's thoughts, motives and background.

On the subreddit, you can present your original character(s) and find them a pen pal. Or you can skip through older posts and take a look at other people's characters and their stories. You can write from one fictitious universe/world to another or you can agree with your partner on one world and come up with an epistolary roleplay, in which the partners' letters influence the plotline.

I hope I have piqued your interest. It would be nice to meet you in the community.

Making an art idea generator. How should I make it work so its the best possible? Would you even want it/get it if it existed?

If you could create any (digital) product that could stop your art block (probably some way of generating ideas, like an idea generator). EXACTLY (or in as much detail as you can) how would you make it work so that you feel it would be the most effective. What would your dream idea generator be, look and work like?

I am thinking of making an art idea generator so would be good to know what you feel would help you the most and how you as an artist would want it to work

Also: Do you think it would even be a good idea for me to make it at all. Would you buy it if I did make it exactly like you wanted? Or what other problems as an artist did you wish there was a solution for?
