When Brandon Sanderson does his live streams, or other events where he answers questions, how can I get a question to him?
Not sure how many people in here play games but there is a game announced that heavily reminds me of the book that I thought some people might enjoy.
I’ve read all the available storm light archive except for the prologue and the released chapters of WaT, I’ve read elantris, hope of Elantra’s and the emperors soul. I’ve read all of mistborn era 1 plus SH and eleventh metal. I’ve read era 2 only up to halfway through SoS. I’ve read elantris and most of Arcanum unbounded, also I’ve read warbreaker.
Do I need to complete era 2 and read the secret projects before reading wind and truth or just by what I’ve read I can do it as soon as it comes out?
Hello. I’m curious for people who read Elantris and are up-to-date with is latest works.
How or what is the difference in his writing style in Elantris compare to later years?
I don’t have much time to read and I don’t know if I will have time to read all the works of Brandon, but I’m very curious about what the mans progress he made to his later books and the way he writes. Expresses himself etc.
Regards.
I am experimenting with some forecasting methods and thought it would be fun to try predicting the popularity of some of Brandon's books over the next year. This is just a fun project, not too serious, I would take the predictions with a large pinch of salt. I have used Goodreads ratings counts as a proxy for popularity (by scraping the site periodically for books I am interested in) - if I had regular sales figures I would use these instead.
Stormlight Archive
Mistborn
Skyward
Secret Projects
I look forward to checking in in 12 months and seeing how close these projections were!
Small print
^(For those familiar with forecasting, I have used the "Holt" method - not yet catering for seasonality ("Holt-Winters") as I don't have enough historical data yet. I would also like to acknowledge that Goodreads rating may not be a great proxy for popularity as I don't know how many sales per rating*1 and also it is possible to get misleading results e.g. Goodreads itself may increase or decrease in popularity over time - this would mix with the signal of the book ratings counts and would be hard to disambiguate without a much wider analysis.)
^(*1 There are some figures published by Mark Lawrence suggesting ~4 sales per rating as of 2021 - not sure how well this will carry across to Brandon. Source: https://mark---lawrence.blogspot.com/2015/10/what-do-goodreads-ratings-say-about.html)
Hi all! Just finished reading first Mistborn book, whilst I loved letting my mind wander and imagine what the characters and locations looked like. I was wondering if there was a website where there was lots of fan art/official art. Or maybe we could have a big thread under this post of your personal favourite pieces??
Started reading and getting into sanderson in 2021. Changed my life.
I already had Mistborn Era 1 and the Stormlight Archives in mass market paperbacks.
Anyone know if Brandon or Dragonsteel has mentioned a leatherbound release for Arcanum Unbounded or the stories within it?
I know the BOM one is coming soon and Brandon said that the one for TLM is coming after (even though it’s not a 10 year anniversary). He also mentioned a Stormlight one about every 3 years or so
I just haven’t heard anything about the arcanum
Another piece of Evermore Brandon needs to adopt!
Ok so I’ve been listening to the Dragonsteel audiobook and I’m on chapter 25 and wow I LOVE THIS BOOK! Even if it’s early writing, just seeing all the different aspects and small things that we now know evolved into different stories and books. It’s like an Easter egg hunt. Origins for the concepts of shattered plains, allomancy, surges and so much more!
Couple questions though;
So I know it’s a curiosity, so it’s not technically canon, but a lot of it is still true in our canon novels. How to tell the difference? Like for instance, is hoids alias of Topaz actually one of his names? Never heard it before this Is the story around frost his true story, or not canon?
Also, what the hell is a whore watcher and why are street magicians called this?
I mainly just wanted to talk about it, since no one in my life reads Sanderson. Thanks yall!
How wild would it be if sando was gearing kelsier up to take up the shard of discord? Kelsier has always been the polar opposite of sazed in many ways, and i cant help but feel like hes def going to wind up holding a shard.
I started The Way of Kings on February 16 of this year. Since then I’ve read all the way through the Stormlight Archive including Edgedancer and Dawnshard. Today I finished Warbreaker, and I don’t know what to do next.
These books have consumed my whole life.
Hi. I missed the funding campaign for the new book because of shit going on in my life. I'd still like to buy the premium version of the 5th secret project though to keep my collection complete lol. Is there still a way to pre-order it, or do I have to wait for the books to start shipping and hope I can pick up a leftover one?
P.S: l won't be able to respond to any comments until tomorrow, I'm in Europe and posting this right before bed. Thanks in advance for any replies or advice though!
Clopin from Disney Huntchback of Notre Dame. The Joker. Please tell me I'm not the only one.
So, hi everyone, I just finished TWOK, and I loved it. After reading the final revelation about Jasnah discovery about parshmen I remembered that SOMEWHERE in the middle, while talking with Dalinar, she mentioned that her studies may point to Voidbringers to be looking like Chasmfields. Am I delusional or this actually happened? My guess is that if she did say this and I didn't make it up she was just in the middle of the research, hence the imprecise result (or maybe not, or maybe also ending of TWOK is not the truth idk no spoilers plz)
Please keep the answer to a simple yes or no if someone knows, I've been trying to search for the page but it's kinda hard. I really can't wait to read more.
I am talking about the paperback with the US covers, that are a bit small. I found a sale that gives me a boxed set of the first three books (i'll buy Rhythm of war separately after i finish Oathbringer) for 85 RON (witch is about 17 USD). And yeah, no problem, very cheap for 3500 pages. BUT. When Wind and Truth releases ,when will the small paperback US cover version release? Cuz I don't want to wait for the hardcover to be the first one to release, and the paperback to release months later. So i want to ask what was the wait time for Stormlight 1,2,3,4 ? Did both editions come out at the same time, or did one of them have to wait a while?(I belive they are called something like, Paperback mass market edition, or smth like that) (i've already decided to not buy the hardcover edition cuz they are very freckin expensive) theres a Rhythm of war copy of the mass market paperback edition at my local store, so I could say that they are confortable enough to read, considering theyr size.
I am NOT talking about any UK covers, so don't bring them in the discussion.
It seems very likely to me that Rand Al'Thor is really Brandon Sanderson in the next turning of the wheel.
Bear with me...
Brandon = B (Rand) On(e)
!Sanderson = Son of Sander (Rand was the son of an Aielman, a Sand Man)!<
Thus, Brandon Sanderson is really ment to
!Be Rand, One Son of A Sandman.!<
The wheel weaves as the wheel wills.
I noticed that during March TWOK was available for €1 and now WOR is available for €1 this month. I think it's safe to assume the pattern will continue for the next 2 months. If you were on the fence before now it's very cheap to jump in fyi
I’m quite new to mr sandersons work and was wondering what all these books relate to? I assume stormlight 5 is the next stormlight book, but does 3.0 revision means he’s written it 3 times? Also what series/stand alone do the other ones belong to
I have not read his own books, but rather the wheel of time books that he had written. People have highly recommended me Mistborn, but the problem is, first of all, the copy available in my country Looks bad, just ugly. But, okay, I won't judge the book my it's cover, but the content itself doesn't look good, I mean, the margins are not formal, the font is not what it is supposed to be, I am talking about the one published by GollancZ. (ISBN-10 0575089911)
That's why I never read it, until today, when I finally found the Tor published copy, they look awesome and are buyable. (ISBN-13 978-1250267177).
Now, the main question, so, will cosmere every connect more obviously? I know he has written many novels, and calls it a universe, having little similarities here and there, something about shards and all, but each story is on a different planet.
Now ofcourse, anyways I am going to read his books, and catch up(impossible task at this point)
Hello everyone, I had a question about the secret projects. I participated in the year of Sanderson last year, and as such I have the premium hardcover editions of all of the books. From what I understand, the hardcover editions that were sent in the year of Sanderson are different cover designs from the regular editions.
That being said, with SP5 coming out with the Words of Radiance leatherbound campaign, I assume the same thing is happening, with a "special" hardcover edition that has foil, different cover design, etc. This time around, though, I don't have enough money to do preorders for the $50 SP tier. However, I still want the special hardcover edition so that the book fits in with the rest of the secret projects on my shelf haha
My question is, will the special hardcover edition still continue to be sold after the WoR campaign is over? I see that the dragonsteel store still has some premium hardcovers but are those limited time? I don't know when I'll be able to buy SP5.
Thanks!
I recently finished the book series of How to Train your Dragon and the last book in that series How to Fight a Dragons Fury it just feel pulls all the previous adventures together. Any other books, shows, movies or video games that you felt like had a sanderlanche?
Someone sent me a TikTok link for a video with a pretty real looking Yahoo post about the cast for the Mistborn movie getting leaked, and as any fan would I got super excited. Spent longer than I’d like to admit scrolling back and forth through the video trying to spot everyone, then longer still searching for the article….. then I checked the date the video was posted. April Fools on me and all hopes dashed
Plus side, my partner has finally started reading The Final Empire!
