Hi everyone! Never really posted much on Reddit, but mostly a reader. I’ve lived here in ABQ since 2019 and honestly love our city, it’s truly a gem. The only issue I’ve had is finding a primary care physician with my insurance (BCBS). In September of 2024, I finally found one but the issue I have is that I’ve never even seen the Doctor, only the physician’s assistant and she is great but is one of those people that “does not believe” in weight loss medication, only weight loss through natural means.
I’m a big guy, I’m 24 years old, 6’0”, and weigh almost 350 lbs. I know it’s a bad weight, I just honestly love food and discovering green chili has been the best thing ever for my taste buds but the worst for my weight lol. But, I’ve been big since I was a kid, and COVID just made things astronomically worse. I have tried to calorie count, meal prep, and move and go for walks, but I just can’t seem to lose weight. My job is mostly a desk job and I work at a computer for majority of the day, so I don’t get much movement, in all honesty. I just feel like I need to get ahold of my health and life and steer it in a healthier direction, because I want to have a long lifespan and not have a lot of issues down the road. But, everything I’ve tried doesn’t seem to work and I’ve heard so many great things about GLP-1’s and how it has altered people’s lives for the better.
I’ve looked into weight loss clinics in ABQ, but just not sure about them since I’m a grad student at UNM and don’t make much to afford the high prices of the clinics. I understand that Ozempic is EXTREMLY EXPENSIVE, but it’s possible my insurance may cover it, but the doctor supposedly has to call and reassure for it??? It’s peculiar to me and I’m not well aware of the health system. Im curious if anyone knows of any clinics or doctors in ABQ that are willing to prescribe Ozempic or GLP-1’s for weight loss. I would greatly appreciate any kind of assistance and thank you for your time and attention. Have a great day and stay warm!! :)
Are there any high end or authentic sushi/omakase spots in ABQ considering the nearest ocean is a two day drive.
Also looking for good ramen spots where they use authentic pork broth by boiling the pork bones instead of using seasoning
PLEASE tell me there is someone in town who does them. That’s it, that’s the post
This took place on Friday, June 11, 1993 where everyone were in line for “Jurassic Park” According to the paper, Albuquerque citizens used to be called Albuquerqueans, and the line to get a ticket at the Box-Office was Two Abreast, 50 Yards deep.
Anyways, do you remember seeing “Jurassic Park” in theaters back in 1993? If so, what theater you remember seeing it at?
I no longer live near a Blake’s Lotaburger, anyone have a similar recipe that is close to it? It’s one of the only chiles I can eat without stomach flare ups.
Thank you!🙏
They didn’t mean there…
Does anybody know any local Asian restaurants that are safe for people with peanut allergies, particularly Chinese food? I‘ll accept any local Asian recs though! One night I called like 6 Chinese restaurants in a row and none gave me reassuring info, so we stick mostly to Japanese food or PF Changs in a pinch, but I know we’re not the only family in town dealing with a peanut allergy so I am hoping someone here has found the answer. Thank you!
Just saw a TikTok of the heavy red swings at westgate community park swinging violently with no one around and no wind and I’m just wondering if anyone has ever seen that or knows any lore about the park? There’s also another video in the daytime of the swings doing the exact same thing lol gave me the creeps
My finance loves maple candy and I want to grab some from him for Valentine’s Day, preferable locally. I know World Market has it sometimes but if there’s a local person who makes it I’d love to support. Thanks!
I wouldn't have noticed it if my dog didn't try licking poop
I know the owners of Flying Star are trump supporters, but where else should we be avoiding other than the obvious chains?
Edit: It has come to my attention that similar posts have been posted, I apologize for any repeats but i appreciate the info, in addition there may be new information on this post so I will keep it up for others who havent seen prior ones ! Thank you all for your feedback! Lets also remember that avoiding Maga chains will impact this more! Also a list of chains that donated to trump campaign:
any idea what’s going on? was heading towards the route 5/8 layover
I'm not from the area and need a nice venue for a lunchtime celebration of life event:
Requirements: -Needs to allow an open bar (deceased is Irish, this was his one request) -Either has great food or allows outside catering -Can host the event at lunchtime -Can facilitate a livestream for family abroad -Has equipment for a powerpoint/photo montage
If you've been to a great space for a bridal shower, baby shower, small wedding, or similar - please let me know!! TIA
My favorite taco truck is El Chalino tacos al pastor and they used to park at the Habitat for Humanity on Menaul weekdays between like 11-3. It hasn't been there in a few weeks now so I tried checking socials and they're all dead. The website doesnt load, I think it might be down too. I have no idea where they're parking now and I just wanted tacos for lunch. If anyone has seen it I would be grateful for the information.
Hi all, looked through this thread and couldn’t find much info on this. Is anyone aware of apartment complexes in albuquerque not owned by greystar? I currently live at eagle ranch, have had so many problems with them I’m moving out in a couple of months. Been looking around for other complexes and have only come across Greystar Owned Properties which I refuse to live in. I’d rather be homeless lol! Open to any suggestions!
Is there anything we can do as ordinary citizens to oppose Trump's policies and attacks on our communities? Posting here as we can probably have the most impact at the local level.
Been seeing posts from Texas saying schools have closed in some areas because so many staff and students are out with the flu. Is that happening here?
Any places around ABQ that will be showing the 6 nations rugby games? Its on Peacock! TIA
Has anyone noticed more helicopter activity from KAFB? I hear it more frequently now anyone else have an idea what’s going on?
I know this is such a weird ask but is there any candy stores near Abq/Rio that have swedish candy???
I've lived in ABQ my whole life and now I want to move out of state, but it's a big country out there so I don't even know where to start.
I'd like to go somewhere greener, similarly affordable but with more jobs, but not a huge city. If you moved away, where did you go and do you like it?
Edit: kinda overwhelmed with the response, but I'm reading everything, thanks gang!

This took place on Friday, June 24, 1994 where families were in line for “The Lion King (1994)” which the first showing was at 10:30am. According to the paper, despite a large crowd in line (according to this picture), the first showing surprisingly didn’t sell out.
Anyways, do you remember seeing “The Lion King (1994)” in theaters back in 1994? If so, what theater you remember seeing it at?
Where is your favorite place to meet people in person?
I would avoid having an outdoor job this summer. It's gonna get real fun.
