Anyone have any recommendations for square headlights with the daylight running lights feature? I’ve always swapped in the sealed beam units from Sylvania but looking to do something else now that I have a burned out headlight. TIA
Why would my ccv hose be have a screw in the end so its blocked off n I'm having oil blow out on my air filter
Hey jeep fam!
I'm back cranking away at the ol YJ list. So, I got the drums buttoned up and ebrake adjusted, so it holds er now.. only the spongy foot brake is discerning. I did some digging and fount it to be common on these rigs and there appears to have been a recall? My search led me to this part CCUZB031. So, I ordered one off a Mopar site... Days later the order was auto-canceled. Damnit. I imagine it's due to discontinued (as seen on other sites) and/ or out of stock. Ig the piece I'm after is shaped like a J and gives new body mounting points to the front of the ebrake foot pedal.
With that idea scrapped... let's see some DIY fixes?? I can weld decently.. although my HF special is better suited to run hot on thicker metal than sheet metal, so I'm not sure that's the best idea. I have hand tools and could probably cut and slice some kinda metal pieces up. I'm curious how others have fixed the broken weld/ new mounting point conundrum with the recall parts long gone.
Tyia! This sub has helped me a ton on my never ending checklist. Similar to the old days on the jeep forums for my cherokees and TJ. So thanks again, Jeep has always had an awesome community 🙌
I want to thank everyone who has helped me with my Weber carb replacement. You really have helped me. I have one more question. What do you do with the stove pipe (Exhaust to Air Cleaner) or preheat hose? Is there a plug, is there an air filter? It was connected to my old air cleaner before I switched from the Carter to the Weber. Now the hose just kind of hangs down. TIA

Picked up this ‘89 recently. She’s got character.
Been dealing with some engine issues for the past months, I have a wideband installed for my stroker build and it's been pegged at full lean, not sure what else to check, no visible vacuum or exhaust leaks, 02 sensor and literally all sensors on the engine excluding the crank sensor are recently replaced because of troubleshooting this, my fuel pressure is fine but it drops to zero on shutdown and there is a small leak I can see, would this mess with fuel flow enough to cause a fully lean running issue
Temp gauge in my 92 wrangler never gets to “center” as a newer car does.
Is this normal on these older jeeps or is it potentially faulty? When starting the jeep it shows cold. Then warms up to maybe. 10-11 o’clock
Just want to make sure it’s operating correctly so I can be aware of any over heating etc.
Gas gauge also seemingly works goes to full then decreases as should but doesn’t seem to go much bellow half a tank ( ran like 220 miles on it deff should have basically been empty).
Looking for any feedback on a way to get more heat in the cab/ defroster. I've seen a few Amazon Universal dash mount joints. The 150w units look pretty mid. Idk that 500w is necessary either. I live in Norther CO, so winter is gonna winter. 93YJ with a soft top and soft doors... so winter will bite through it pretty quick. A nice 12v option is probably the best solution. But I'd love to hear what works for yall.

First Jeep purchase and love it!
Needed some work; I replaced radio, antenna, dash cluster lights, did a ton of wiring cleanup, replaced fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, front brakes, and front shocks.
Still has a little tiny hesitation during a cold start. Not sure if it’s just 90s engineering or maybe I need to replace something else 🤷🏻♂️
When I was fixing another exhaust leak last weekend on my 94 Wrangler, I noticed the front side of the fuel tank skid plate is a really really rusted through. I immediately put the car on bed rest for fear that a deep pothole would cause the tank to fall down. The back half is totally fine.
I dropped the tank earlier this year to change the fuel pump & I was able to do it without much trouble. At that time I did not notice any rust & rot to warrant changing the skid plate. So for now I would really just like to reinforce the gas tank so I can keep driving it until spring. I'm not particularly worried about road debris puncturing the tank. There's still a good amount of coverage, it's just that all the way up near the forward side bolts is a decent amount of rust flaking rot from driver to passenger side. Like a thin crack.
My typical pipe strap is not drilled large enough to go around the skid plate bolts. While I didn't measure, online replacement bolt diameters say the shank diameter is 0.31 inches wide. Online typical pipe strap is 0.25 inches wide.
So this is not a specific Wrangler YJ question, but anyone know where I can get some bigger hole drilled pipe strap?
Or more YJ specifically, any way to replace the skid plate without dropping the tank? I saw online skid plates that come in a left and right half. I was thinking of getting that and maybe peeling away half my old skid plate at a time while using a jack to hold it up in sections at a time.
Or any other ideas to keep the tank from falling out, sort of dropping the tank and changing the plate.
If not I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and drop the tank. But if I can avoid it until the weather turns much warmer, I would prefer that because this is going to be a several day job for me because of work. And I don't have covered workspace, I'll be doing this in my yard. :(
EDIT:
I'm giving more and more thought to getting the split skid plate. I could bolt in the driver side and keep a bottle jack holding up the tank just adjacent to the seam. Then use a second jack on the newly installed half skid plate while bolting in the remaining half. Essentially piece by piece. Then I would not have to drop the tank. I would not re-connrect the tank to skid plate straps. I really don't think with my 100% pavement driving I need to secure the tank to the plate to the vehicle. I do zero off-roading.
I'm also giving some thought to windowing out a small area on the new skid plate to pass a bottle jack through and hold up the tank. Then remove the old plate piece by piece cutting it out as necessary. Then sliding the new plate up over the bottle jack through the window I make. Then bolting it on. Yes I would have a small window hole on the new skid plate. But I would patch that up with some epoxy and aluminum baking tray foil pan.
Not sure what this is called or what purpose it serves. Thought it may have something to do with the tailgate latch, but no matter which way I turn it, it doesn’t make a difference..so .. what be it.. please..
This morning I went out to my jeep to start and it did but super rough, like it was coughing and missing, just super bad running. Check engine light came on. Air temp in the morning was 34 degrees, and it was the same yesterday but didn't have the problem till today. It wanted to run rough at like 300 rpm, I forced it up 1500 until I saw the temp gauge bob up a little. I attempted to drive and it was acting like it was missing and spitting so I stop and turn it off, to check codes. Here's what I got 12 33 13 22 55. The two that stick out are the MAP and temp sensor. Map sensor was replaced a month ago, temp sensor had a bad wire but I just replaced the connection. After the jeep sat for a few minutes and a little heat could soak into the block it started, idled and ran fine all the way home. Any idea of what to check? Why it did this seemingly randomly? It was the coldest its been so far but yesterday was the same weather with no issues. Thanks in advance.

Any help would be appreciated. Headlights work well and don’t turn off, but when I turn on dash lights, all lights flicker off and on. Any suggestions on a fix? 1994
We’re thinking about selling our ’91 Islander (4.2L, automatic). It’s in great shape with original seats, doors, radio, A/C, leaf springs—everything’s intact and working perfectly. The only issue is a wiring problem with the fuel sensor, which we’ve been planning to address. It also comes with a new soft top. We’re the third owners, and it has 172k miles on the original engine.
What would be a fair price in today’s market?
I was reinstalling my steering wheel after installing a new blinker switch an and noticed this. Where would you start your diagnosis.
Bettery was connected but pretty dead. Recently tried to jump start the battery but the ground terminal would spark and spark.
I’ve only owned this jeep for a couple weeks so I’m unsure of its past. It’s pretty stock, however.
