Hey there,
I've had my 2006 Jeep Liberty for some time now, and I've actually found a need for 4WD to work. It's never worked before, and it still doesn't work now. 4WD lever feels normal, instrument cluster says its engaged both in the 4HI and 4LO positions, but it never seems to actually engage. This was tested tonight with the big storm here in Colorado. Got stuck a couple times because it simply won't engage despite the lever feeling normal and the cluster saying its engaged. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thank you!
I made a copy of my ignition key so I could open the door if I locked my keys in my car. Then I realized the original key nor copy works on the door. I have no clue what to do.
Just bought my first KJ kinda excited about it I’ve had ZJs and XJs before. 2002 liberty sport 4x4.
Picked it up for $500 all it needed was a ground cable, exhaust clamp and starter.
Bought ,fixed, and titled all the same day.
2012 jeep liberty 163k miles. It does currently have a minor timing cover gasket leak. Could this have to do with that? Or is it something else?
Hi so I want to get into doing some light off roading, nothing too extreme. I was just curious what modifications need to be done in order to make her ready for easy stuff. Currently all I have done is the 2.5 spacer lift and new struts. She is on 235/65 r18 currently and definitely want to upgrade those to A/T tires that won't rub. Any recommendations for those that won't break the bank? Thanks in advance
My wife's 11 KK is losing coolant and I can't figure out why. No leaks and the oil is clear. The odd thing is the overflow tank will be full of not over filled but the radiator is low. It seems like it's not pulling coolant from the tank when it cools off. If anyone has an idea what's going on let me know.
Also in the last 6 months I've already had to replace the water pump, upper radiator hose(thought that was the problem when the pump failed) thermostat/housing. The heater core was replaced about 2 years ago and I don't smell coolant in the jeep.
Hi - I have a 2012 Jeep Liberty and I noticed the passenger valve cover is leaking and leaving a quarter size drip. Does anybody have a spec sheet, video, or directions on how to replace this? Is it straight forward? I can only find 2000-2006 Liberty videos… please help.
I’m trying to replace the rear bearings on an 06 liberty. The bearings that I ordered through Auto Zone do not look like the bearings I’ve seen in a few videos. I don’t want to tear everything down if I’ve got the wrong part, as I can’t afford to have the Jeep sitting around torn apart for days waiting on new parts. Could somebody let me know if these are the proper bearings, and if not, point me in the direction of where I could order some quality ones? Thanks!
Okay so the first slide is making a weird squeaky noise and an the other smoke is coming out from that area.and tips or guidance on what it can be
Hello everyone, I recently joined this subreddit because I’ve only had this car for 6 months. A month ago my temp gauge starting running hot, I took it to get looked at when I was getting an alignment and it turned out it was a crack in the radiator. They flushed out all of my coolant, topped it off and quoted me a price for the repair. I’m a single father of two so of course I couldn’t afford the repair at the time. I kept driving on it for about a month. Minding the temp gauge, cranking the heat to high whenever the gauge would go over the halfway mark. Fast forward to a week ago I was driving in the highway and the gauge shot up once again. I cranked up the heat to full blast. But this time there was pretty much no heat circulating into the car and the gauge didn’t go down at all. Actually shot up faster. I heard some kind of popping noise and I had to pull over on the highway and once I cut the car off it wouldn’t turn back on and there was coolant all under my hood. I had it towed back to the house and had a buddy help me replace the radiator. Everything went off without a hitch. But the car still overheats with no heat circulation and I want to say that the head gasket is probably blown? (Going off internet research). The car does start although it doesn’t start up as good as it used to. It’s just once I started driving it the car just runs hot once the engine gets warmed up. Reason why I think it’s a blown head gasket is because I heard something “blow” the day it originally broke down. First time I started it after the repair I got white exhaust smoke and a burning oil smell (white smoke is gone now but still smell burning oil a little). I did look at the oil cap and saw no sludge (like when oil and coolant mixes). Which brings me to the question of, does that sound like a blown head gasket? I can’t afford to tow it to a place just for them to tell me it’s gonna be a $1400+ repair. Right now I’m saving up under the assumption that I will have to replace the head gasket but I’m just really hoping that somehow some way that the head gasket isn’t the issue but i already have 2 out of the three main symptoms indicating it. If anyone had any advice or any idea or have dealt with a similar issue I’d appreciate any insight. Thank you all.
So I just bought a 2008 jeep liberty with 131000 miles on it for $2500 and wish I had seen this subreddit before doing so. For some reason I decided to do my research AFTER buying the car. Anyways, I do love the vehicle, it feels very solid and rides well, no creaks or strange noises. It did start overheating as I was driving it home from dealer and I was forced to pull over on the side of the interstate twice to let her cool off before eventually making it home with the heat on full blast. Well I replaced the thermostat and did a coolant flush and this seemed to have fixed that problem. Engine runs great now. This leads me to issue #2. I believe the window regulator and or motor had gone out. The switches for the front passenger window stopped working the other day while the window was luckily in the up positions. To me it wasn’t a huge deal, window was up and I would replace motor and regular soon. Well fast forward to last night and I had a passenger hit the switch on the passengers door and the window rolled all the way down before I could say anything to stop her. Well now the window is stuck down, and I can’t afford the motor and regular for the window for a few days. I hate having plastic taped in my window and was wondering if there is a way for me to manually get the window back to the closed position without having to release it from the regulator and tape closed. Has anyone had any experience with this? Recommendations?
I began having this issue since last night, but o didn’t think much of it until early in the morning. I don’t know what would the problem be.
Help?
Hi all, this is the underside of my 2011 Jeep KK and this guy seems to be covered in a thin layer of oil. I am not a car guy so not exactly sure what part this is and was wondering if I should be concerned thank you!!
Has anyone been able to do an Engine swap to a v8 or some motor that has more than 200hp? I was wanting to put a hemi in it but I’ve heard that it is near impossible to get any other engine to fit other than the factory 3.7L but that hasn’t made much since to me because there seems to be a good amount of room under the hood. The problem I can see tho is the transmission will need to be replaced as well so that might be an issue. But you could just make the transmission tunnel bigger. Am I missing something? Or is it just that people don’t really want to put the time Into it to swap the engine? I’ve never done an engine swap before so I’m not sure if there is something big I’m missing
Small red light on dash between speedometer and gas gauge. Struggled to start making no noise at all and also not dinging when the key is in the ignition and the door is open
At 9192 pages long, it's weird that the FSM doesn't have either a table of contents or an index. I assume the printed version probably had tabs or something, but do any of you fine folk know if anyone publishes or provides a TOC or index? In my case, it's for a 2008 3.7 Liberty Sport.
Anybody know where to get a replacement o-ring for the drain plug on the front differential? Or a size that will be a suitable replacement? I found them on MOPAR, but they’re discontinued.
I used to use this bluetooth cassette in my old car because it allowed me to keep my stock radio. I want something similar in my 2005 Jeep Liberty but the only problem is I only have a CD player. Does anybody know of a product that would allow me to use bluetooth by using the existing CD player? I don’t want to use an FM transmitter because I honestly hate those things.
To preface, I'm no car expert by any means, but I for sure know enough to get around. I have a 2012 Liberty and every so often my check engine light pops on with the error code p0303. I've already replaced the spark plugs, coils and everything. Typically after four or five drive cycles the light turns back off. Any idea why this may be happening? I'm leaning towards the fuel injector possibly? Any advice is much appreciated.
