Hello everybody. Hope everyone's going well. I bought a 2006 to liberty with 126000 miles. Is a 4 cylinder It looks very plain she needs some cosmetic work, but my biggest question is the front and back suspension are sagging. What shocks or suspension do you guys recommend. It does not have to be a lift kit. Thank you.
Does anyone know where to get affordable rocker panel covers for a 2002 Liberty? Mine are rusting out (midwestern winters) and I want to put a stop to it before it gets worse. I’ve seen some that are a thick vinyl.
Just looking for anyone else’s experience with changing the trans fluid on Liberty’s namely ones you don’t know if it’s been done before. She only a hair over 120k but it’s an ‘08. I’ve seen the old tale about folks bricking their transmissions by changing the fluid and I’m seeing if there’s any validity to that tale with my car model specifically.
Anyone had trouble with lights? I have 2004, and the park lights and tail lights, and dash light went out on me at same time. I have brake lights and turn signals. I’ve changed all bulbs, and pulled every fuse but still can’t locate the problem.
Hi so I brought my 2011 kk to a Firestone it needed a new alternator. Afther they replaced it I drove down the street and batter light came back on. They replaced it again the next day and same issue. Told me they thought maybe connection to PCM was bad but that the alternator was working. Drove 5 miles and jeep died. Anyway, I looked up later the part that they had put in, and it looks like it was a duralast meant for the kj not the kk. Could this have caused the other damages? Or is it unrelated
Just dumped in $1500 to repair my heater core and spent $800 to replace my tires within the last month. Heat went back out this weekend and brought it in to the shop.
$2800 to repair blown head gasket (cylinder full of coolant) $600 to repair leaking radiator
Do I bite the bullet and pony up or is it time to move on?
Anyone ever deal with a high pitched tinnitus- like sound constantly coming from the jeep liberty…
Of this keeps up I have to get rid of this car
2005 jeep Liberty limited 3.7 with 176k miles Smelling coolant when using my heat. Not seeing drips anywhere really, and I top the coolant off every couple weeks. Thinking it's the heater core dripping and evaporating since I don't see visible leaks. Thinking about just bypassing the heater core once we are done with the coldest part of winter? That should buy me time to decide if I want to remove everything necessary to replace the heater core. Thoughts?
2004 Liberty, Cylinder 2 spark plug. Felt seized up, got a second opinion, they agreed, put some PB blaster and let it sit for 24 hours. Came out to give it another try and spark plug socket wasn’t catching anything. Put the camera over and saw this.
Has anyone here upgraded their KK’s exhaust? what’s your experience with it?
No snow to play in, here in southern Minnesota, so Patrick Henry is doing his duty hauling the fish house around
It was scanned by a mechanic and it says right rear ABS sensor so I crawled under the truck behind the right wheel and I'm not sure if this is the part or not.
2002 Liberty 3.7. Runs and drives great but a pig on fuel. It is cold here in Saskatchewan Canada but averaging 19 liters per 100 average is excessive.(calculated manually over 3 tanks by monitering fuel consumption)80 to 90 % hwy driving. If I baby it on the hwy I can see 14 on the active display for short periods. What are you liberty owners doing to get your fuel consumption down?
The other day I went to turn my FRONT wipers on and .... nothing. Then, all on a sudden, a while later, they started working again. I played with the switch a bit, everything works on it except the front wipers. Rear wiper, and squirty things both front and back all work just fine.
This morning, after a 5F night, they didn't work but, when I came out from Aldi, they did after not working at all for several days. So, I checked the J20 30 AMP fuse and it was fine.
I have a new motor on order but I'm wondering if that's what it is or if there's a wiring problem somewhere. The mechanic gave me this wiring diagram but it's all Greek to me and I have no idea where to start.
Thanks.
So after replacing my fuel line over the summer I noticed that the top of my fuel tank does not match the diagrams for my 04 liberty. does anyone recognize this version? it only has 1 quick connect not the 2 going to a filter like the diagrams show. ignore the caliper I needed the quick connect size.
I have a 2012 liberty and I’m attempting to build it as a nice off-road rig. I found some cool looking bumpers with a front winch plate but they were designed for a 2004 Cherokee and I can’t find anything for the liberty that I like. Are they compatible at all or am I shit outta luck?
About two months ago my #3 injector went bad, replaced it. Ran great for a few weeks. Then a couple weeks later #5 does the same thing, replaced it, ran great. This morning the damn check engine light comes on again, running ok, but staying #4 is bad now too. Should I just bite the bullet and do the remaining 4 injectors I haven't touched yet? Or only fix what's 'broken"?
2011 liberty with 160k miles. Does over 2k rpms when on flat ground going 55mph. Does this seem high? What could the possible problems be? Not a mechanic here. Tia
I've been looking into buying a 4x4 for a bit now and ive stumbled onto a few second hand cherokees/liberty kjs I like the look of. I am one for wild camping and grew up greenlaning with dad in his old defender 110s so it will be getting some rugid use. The main reason I like the look of them is price, compared to something like a land rover imma take a wild guess and say it's much more reliable, and it's far cheaper to buy and insure on English roads than something like a land cruiser or a patrol.
I just don't know which to get, cost wise they're about the same to buy, run, and insure. I just want to know which would be more reliable and better for my daily needs.
Primarily it will be used as my daily because I've also got a project car on the go so I don't want to be piling mountains into repair costs (I plan on selling an alfa for this so you can imagine what's been going thru my head), but ontop of running it to work and back every day, it will be taken off road, lifted, etc.
I've been looking at autos purely just because it makes life easier for daily use, so there's the 4 speed petrol or the 5 speed diesel.
Any recommendations on which would be better for me as a long term daily? Reliability being the main selling point.
Hello,
I recently replaced my heater core on my 2010 jeep Liberty sport. When I put everything back on place I tried to start my car but a no bus code came on the dash and started to flicker. I’m aiming towards a bad connection somewhere or a ground.
Would anyone know what specific connections can cause this problem? Or what grounds did I forget to connect when putting this back together?
Thank you!
Hello all,
Helping a friend out with a transmission fluid/filter replacement on his 2006 Jeep Liberty Renegade. I just want to hear from some knowledgeable people that I am correct in assuming this vehicle has the 42RLE, and thus the WIX 58013 would be compatible? Thank you so much in advance! This is in an attempt to resolve the car not going into reverse, so any other ideas/suggestions are also appreciated. Figured we should start with the simple stuff first.

2003 Liberty renegade. Heater blows barely warm. I took it in and had a flush done on the heater core, it improved but not much. Is there anything else that can be checked? I am hoping it isn’t the heater core. Thank You
2023 Liberty Renegade… when I turn left, the dome lights come on and sometimes the 4wd lights flicker. Any clue what this could be be? New owner here.
Caught this wild setup on the highway. A truck hauling a truck hauling... a Jeep Liberty in a dump bed? Who needs a proper trailer when you’ve got creativity like this?
I can’t decide if this is genius or absolute madness. What’s the craziest hauling setup you’ve seen?
My 04 liberty and I have had it’s run on replacing parts and performing maintenance throughout the years. Almost 200k miles and going strong.
Recently, I’ve been wanting to look into buying better quality parts and components for my Jeep so it’ll last longer before I’d have to be under the hood. Its a daily commute ride with the occasional travels down the highway. Pricing now doesn’t bother me as long as I’m getting my Money’s worth. I was on a budget to where I could only afford parts that’ll get me by. I’d like to upgrade my Shocks, Struts, Brake components, radiator, etc. but I don’t know yet how to find ones that are good quality.
I keep it well maintained with oil changes, checking the fluids at the engine bay and giving it the occasional fuel treatment/cata-clean every year or so. If you guys have some recommendations for stuff like that, I’m all ears.
Thanks in advance
Curious to see if anyone’s gotten their liberty repainted before and how much it cost you.
