What: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is a game in the Kingdom Hearts series released for GameBoy Advanced in 2004, with a remaster made for PS2 in 2008 that would go on to be used for "Final ReMix" ports of the Kingdom Hearts games. It follows off of almost directly after the events of Kingdom Hearts 1 with the main protaganist Sora, along with Donald Duck, Goofy and Jiminy Cricket entering an area known as "Castle Oblivion" after following a man in a black coat >!(of which there are multiple in this game, a singular (eventually a 2nd in another game) woman included)!< (spoilers for games in the Kingdom Hearts series from Chain of Memories all the way until 3 hidden). Sora and co. have to go up the castle floors whilst losing their memories (as foretold poetically by a man in a black coat) and revisiting worlds from the 1st Kingdom Hearts game. The game uses a mix of the battle system from the 1st game along with a card system that influences the properties of your attacks, to what enemies you encounter (kind of) and even the order you re-visit the previously mentioned worlds.
How: I'm playing through the VBA emulator, with the game itself having been patched for a Polish translation (thanks to Rykuzushi's efforts).
When: I've started my most recent playthrough about 5 days ago since the making of this Reddit post.
Where: I play at home.
Why: I've already beaten Kingdom Hearts 2 and Birth by Sleep through the 2.5 Final Re:Mix collection (which I played on PS3) and wished to play another game in the series, as watching cutscenes on YouTube with my "get spoiled on the game before getting it" mindset wasn't satisfying me anymore.
My opinion (aka. the part you're most likely to read): I am enjoying my time with COM. The battles are somewhat difficult without being obnoxious despite what the gameplay design choices might entail, the story is intriguing from start to finish and the character interactions are some of the best in the series ironically due to the GBA's limitations. While the pixel art done for the game is absolutely luscious, the same can't be said for the music per the limitations of the handheld, and some rare bosses do fall flat either because of them being on both of the extremes in difficulty. Overall, I'd reccomend the game if you're a fan of the 1st game and you're willing to learn the in's and out's of the card system. Oh, and get ready for tone-shifts galore.
Anyone here with vast experience playing Idle RPGs? e.g. AFK Arena, Idle Heroes. I'm helping test a prototype that a bunch of friends made within 6 months. It's impressive work, but lacking depth and content.
I'd like to give some feedback and suggestions but not too sure how to craft those ideas. Hoping to solicit some feedback from this subreddit.
Do visit their Discord if you'd like to be an early contributor too!
Just beat it the first time last night. Better than I expected. I played the official English 1995 original but on the Switch (from Collections of Mana) right beforehand as well, so I can appreciate the amount of streamlining they did to battle.
Apparently I heard the remake was done on a relatively low budget? I mean, the graphics do look a little simplified, but I wouldn't have known it was a low-budget project just by playing it.
Boy! No seriously, thank goodness for bringing this to PC.
Im rather new to this style of JRPG. I recently played Gravity Rush Remastered and loved it at first but the gameplay really felt like it plateaued halfway through and I got tired of collecting the gems. But anyway, back to Scarlet Nexus.
So far, I am about finished with my first playthrough with one of the two main protagonists. So far the story is very superhero/cyberpunk and I vibe with that and I wish there was a full on anime show (there probably is but im an amateur weeb) with a similar plot.
The gameplay is very fun with all the abilities and mixing and matching with teammates but I wish had two changes: Dash enhance and a block mechanic. The dash is fine if you can get a perfect dodge, but it just feels like you dash exactly 1 foot away from the spot you were standing. Just feels lackluster. With blocking, so many times my mind jumps to "gotta block that ranged attack" but reflex remember too late that I cant because that is not a thing.
Besides that I wish I could also play as the other characters even if it was just for a short amount of time since the protagonist isnt a created avatar or anything. So far I would recommend this to anyone that likes JRPGS, single player team combat, anime and/or story driven experiences.
I didn't know it was from a old PC game at first. I love the story.
Been wondering what the fuzz has been about. Thank God it came to PC. It's kind of a bad port but I managed to make it play nicely. It's true what they say. There are a lot of gorgeousness in this thing. Would post some pictures but this subreddit doesn't seem to allow any. Anyway, that's what I'm playing.
I am really interested in this game but I need some recommendations in this game. is it worth it? I have seen it generate a lot of live players at
Let me know please.
A conversation on r/games about CoD Campaigns popped up (again) and it reminded me about the one CoD Campaign I've never played.
I've tried to get into this game's campaign multiple times but it's first moments never grabbed me. The opening level and dialogue is such cheesy-macho-American-CW-Cliche-ass-bullshit that I've uninstalled the game at least twice before actually controlling my character.
But it gets better after that! CoD campaigns are like Michael Bay movies except that YOU'RE PLAYING THEM, and this CoD is no different. The story is totally doing a Platoon narrative thing but it's paced well enough and the "shooty-shooty" parts get pretty epic.
Veteran's Day is right around the corner. It's time to get into that WW2 kick again. This game's campaign is rad.
Started it a few weeks ago. Took me a bit to actually "get it" but when I did I actually realky like it
I recently got the RPG Maker MZ and used it to make a couple games. This last one I did for my daughter she asked for a game that was like Dora The Explorer so I made one where she was the main character.
It's free if you or a kid you know would like to try it out..

First off if I had to say what got me to try out Furi it was probably the fact that I remembered it in a VideogameDunkey video as having a pretty killer song and artstyle. That combined with the fact its applauded as a very hard boss rush made it a no brainer to try out.
The gameplay of Furi is pretty simple but rewarding when mastered or when you manage to deflect/dodge a flurry of attacks coming from the boss you're currently fighting. They are really only 4 or so inputs being dodge, attack, shoot and parry with variations of these being supercharged versions (so a super charged blast or super charged attack).
However the thing that really sends Furi up a little is its music. When you have a soundtrack as killer as this you have to be setting up your bosses to be underwhelming in comparison right. I mean how can they live up to this mastery of a soundtrack (if you want a taste of what I'm talking about here you should give a listen to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeAAi7jWOl8 one of the best tracks in the game). To quote VideoGameDunkey, "That soundtrack though it keeps on egging you to whoop some ass".
Next the bosses are no slouch when it comes to difficulty though. That being said they're never too bs for the most part with only 1 or 2 bosses being the exception (those 2 probably being the last phase of the purple lady and the optional boss at the end of the game). If I had to give you an idea of how these boss fights play out they mostly fall into a category of them having a central theme of what they're attacks are. To clarify on this statement the second last boss you fight is a test of you close range skill in fights with him using that as a base and then slowly introducing more and more attacks or flipping them on their heads. This then usually comes with the final phase being a dodge fest until you can finally attack the boss to finish them off.
Lastly the Art and Story. The art in this game is absolutely gorgeous. While some of the animations in the moments between boss fights sometimes look like the stranger(your character) makes him look like he is floating on the ground the environments really make up for this. The environments in this game are like an expression of the main theme of the boss you're fighting against. They are gorgeous with very vibrant colour palettes being shown off to exemplify the amazing backgrounds. This finally leading me to the story. If youre looking for an amazing story with excellent emotional scenes than I'm pretty confused why you clicked on a post about a boss rush. However with that being said Furi has quite an excellent story for a boss rush of its length as it establishes its world quite well and can make you sympathize for the bosses once the whole story is revealed. Also there are many theories that can be made on this world that only make you love this game even more. I don't know if many are willing to take the challenge that comes with the dark souls esque difficulty but if you love that challenge damn you're in for a treat.
:)
Mary Skelter Nightmares is a fun game. It has a very Anime style of writing and if you enjoy watching it then the story sections would definitely remind you of a lot of anime scenes and set ups. While the writing could get a bit childish at times and the ramp up is rather slow at the beginning, things really start to heat up and they tackle alot of deeper issues with regards to the heroines aside from the main plot which gives everyone decent characterization.
Combat and gameplay wise it is a first person, turn based, dungeon crawling JRPG and we don't really get a lot of those so it is very unique IMO. Since I'm playing on the hardest difficulty I really have to engage in the game mechanics and grind out my characters which I actually appreciate. Normal mode can be beaten with some effort but it wont require you to get as involved in the game systems as Horror would.
Downside is if you are the type of person who absolutely wants to clear out every map then you are going to be running around for hours in same ish corridors but are frequently rewarded with collection points and treasure chests that can sometimes contain rare items.
There are alot of job classes and each character has their own line of Jobs each with it's own role, strength and weakness. Unfortunately you can only get one swap per 10 levels you gain and since skill points are gained per level, there is a de leveling system that reduces your level a certain amount and gives you back all the skill points you had at that level to reassign plus a little extra. Example if you were level 40 and de leveled to level 30, you would get 30 skill points back plus 3 extra for the trouble of having to level back to 40. Leveling back from 30 to 40 would still give you 10 skill points again anyway so no loss there except for a fair bit of grinding time.
Actually the huge maps are a plus in this context cause at least when you are releveling your characters you can choose to go to some unexplored area rather than retread the same areas over and over again.
Items wise, the shop you have permanent access to does not contain any weapons or armor or anything aside from some consumables so you actually have to go out and hunt for items yourself or hopefully run into the shop guy that can randomly with a low chance appear in any dungeon and sell you Consumables as well as weapons and armor. This could be annoying especially if you are hurting for an upgrade but I'm 66 hours in and I've already farmed weapons and armor stronger than what he's selling without even looking at a drop table. Then again I AM on hard difficulty so that may play a factor,
The one special thing about this game that you can't find anywhere else is that you have to interact with the dungeon itself, satisfying each of it's needs for temporary stat bonuses, treasures, or unlocking extra areas. I won't go into detail about it since that would just delve into spoiler territory though.
Boss fights kind of weird difficulty spikes to be honest. While clearing mobs with AOE skills is the way to go, bosses kind of make you want to play it properly straining your characters limited skill slots.
If you have the time and like what you've read so far definitely give it a try. Kinda grindy on horror (grindy in general if you want to experience everything in the game) and it might make people with Map OCD get annoyed at how large everywhere is but more or less the game is good at rewarding you for your efforts.
Just started with "Before you leave" a city-building game that released today on steam. it looks promising so far.
Rip n tear until it´s done it´s very fun and very addictive

"One hour, and 10,000 comments later, WallStreetBets was on the warpath." ~ The Guardian
My review: You command a single investor in a company called "Reddit Inc.". Together with a team of real players, you coordinate buying and shorting strategies. You'll start the game as a Rookie LVL 1 trader in a procedurally generated market. Depending on your IRL social class, you are able to buy yourself in the game ("cost of doing business"). The higher your real life social class, the more starting EXP you'll get. Experience is expressed using the abbreviation "US Dollar", which is also tied to the ingame currency. Many players have expressed their dissatisfaction to the devs, but they were unwilling to make changes to this game mechanic.
As your gameplay progresses, you have the choice to become a pure trader or a hybrid trader, meaning that you'll diversify your skill tree in various skills such as crypto and options for instance. An interesting game mechanic is the way your IRL attributes are the same as your ingame attributes. Low intelligence and wisdom stats could be made up with high luck and speech stats, but you will have trouble levelling up your decision making skilltree. It is also really hard to unlock "Math Insight", which in turn enables you to cast spells such as "RSI", "MFI" and "Bollinger Bands".
Critics laud "Stock Market Tycoon" for its basic game interface and limitless decision making options. Through procedurally generated market data, you will never get bored of this game. Upon the official release, data miners have already found a glitch in the game, enabling them to skip the gamestop quest with a near perfect score. Devs are currently talking about patching the game but the player base is not having any of this. I can't wait for the coming patches and changes to the system. What impact will the acquired EXP have on the players that found the glitch? Time will tell
My final thoughts on this: Stock Market Tycoon is exciting, fresh and works on nearly every system. It's inclusive and can be played by the whole family. I give this game a 4.5/5 stars.
(I have no idea what subreddit to use for my review... Just posted it here so it might help someone who wants to give the game a try. Gameplay guides can be read in-game on r/wallstreetbets.)
I'm sure this has come up in this sub before but I recently purchased this as a recommendation from another redditor and I am very pleased. It's got all the ingredients required to keep you playing for hours on end. The story is good, the character classes arent recycled, although I was pleased there is a necromancer dlc. I played diablo2 for a decade after it's prime. Path of Exile was brilliant. Grim Dawn is (in my opinion) a pleasant medley of both and I highly recommend it. Oh and it's currently 75% off through humble bundle.
I am a big fan of the pokemon franchise (especially PMD) but skipped on it so far, because of how bad pokemon games on switch are overall. Tested it on a whim because i disassembled my old PC without checking all of the new parts and HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS AMAZING. It fixes all the problems of the early entries and you can feel how much love has been put into the game. Backgrounds look hand-drawn, every pokemon has got this little piece of personality, the portraits are looking great (even though those are from the base PMD Games afaik), cutscenes have been reworked to fit the new style (instead of going the route of pokemon Sword/Shield where Stuff that happened only gets told to you).
I can absolutely recommend the game to every PMD fan, especially those that have been disappointed by switch entries so far.
Hi everyone. The one thing I eagerly wait for on the /r/games subreddit is the weekly what are you playing posts. They really peak my interest as I find so many new games from the different posters.
I recently got to know that this subreddit exists as well. I was wondering what we can do to increase the frequency of posts here. I know this might be more of a mod team question but if there is anything that can be done on our end to increase activity and visibility of this subreddit?
I hopped on Prodeus when it went into early access cuz I'd been following the development for awhile but then I finished it and was looking for something with a similar vibe. I found this game KUR - seems like it's still in development but they have a demo out right now and it's exactly the kind of DOOM-like alien blasting I need right now. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1243520/Kur/
I don't exercise. But when my cousin give his old Wii to me, Now I dance everyday.
I'm surprised that Just Dance 2020 is available on Wii. Like it's been so long since the Wii.
Anyway, I burn calories now. That's cool.
My favorite Civilization version is still Civ 3 (maybe because I started from it). 15 years ago I played very actively, participated in PBEMs, monthly tournaments, even was creating a WWI scenario (still unfinished :D ).
Over the time the number of Civ 3 players has declined, but, as it appears, the monthly tournaments are still held (but they take 3 months now). For the current tournament players will play Ottomans. I like their 8/3/3 sipahi (they replace 6/3/3 cavalry, but cost 100 shields instead of 80). Will give it a try.
First-Person, Open World, Adventure, Survival game.
The game is probably set around the Canada-Alaska region(not sure of the exact location). You're a pilot flying with your ex-wife. Your plane crashed and the two of you got separated. You have to survive against cold weather, hostile animals, food and water scarcity, harsh weather conditions and occasional snow storms. Your goal is to find your partner and find out what's causing the Aurora Borealis to have a weird effect on that land.
Its not a small game. Its gonna take you quite some time to finish it. Enjoy the realistic feel of the game!
Summarized all Free to Test I have focused this mid-August.
Crowfall is still on going for Free!!!
This is the only game that has made me feel a void inside after completing it, it probably the greatest game I’ve ever played
It's a pixel metroidvania with a generic good vs evil story, but the atmosphere, and unique gameplay... I keep coming back to it.
