Talk about everything and anything related to the hobby of scale modelling, be it figures, war vehicles, civilian vehicles, aircraft, fantasy, sci-fi, anything goes. Hopefully there'll be a few people that share an interest in sanding a 2mm tube to make it completely cylindrical.

Hi all!
I am very new to the world of building scale models. Very new. I haven't decided on my first aircraft, I have no idea what brands are reliable and frankly I'm still certain I cannot be trusted with pain or glue. I'm clumsy.
However, I have a large project in my mind which is near and dear to my heart that I would like some feedback on the swift realisation of.
The project is a fleet of 1:144 scale fighter jets painted in the Phoenix livery seen in the Ace Combat video game series. Simple enough, though my current skill level would make a mockery of it and while I'm not averse to learning new skills I would appreciate as near perfection as I can achieve...
My question is this, specifically: would it be unreasonable or foolish to gather the models and commission someone to paint them up? Similarly to a tabletop war game army, I suppose?
Feedback is appreciated! Please do be patient with me.
Anyone know a spot(s) in LA where I can buy tons of randoms models, bits and pieces? Even incomplete models. I kitbash ork things and love using random bits whether it be warhammer stuff, model trains, scale armor etc..
Not sure if there’s some kind of swap meet or trading post or eventthat people go to or convention etc… the point here is to find random stuff for cheap prices, not full legitimate kits. Don’t want to ruin things people want.
Thanks!
So here's my complete water bomber version of the Tu-134 in the colors of my town's station logo where I am working at.
I tried everything to prevent the paint from leaking through the tape, it once again did not work.
So I’m a huge aviation enthusiast and I have a decent collection of die-cast planes, mainly Daron postage stamp. I have given plane model kits a try but I lack the patience or artistic capabilities to make them look good. I was curious if there was a market for people like me who want to buy/ have someone build a very detailed high quality model and ship it and if there is,what would someone like me be looking at to pay for the model kit it’s self and the time and supplies necessary to complete the model.
My wife recently got a me a 1:92 B24J bomber kit made by Atlantis. My question is in regards to the tail art. I'm not up to date on WWII Pacific campaign bomber squadrons so I'm looking to see if there's a chance someone out there can point me in the right direction to find out what squadron this was, if it indeed existed. My aim is historic accuracy with WWII models, I just don't recognize the tail art. Thanks.
1:1 scale human skull plastic model, modified to include fangs with modeling putty, weathered with acrylics and added a candle for functionality. I found the old bottle of Holy Water in a thrift store and glued a cross I bought at Hobby Lobby. The stand is from an old laboratory, normally used to hold beakers and such.
Enough talk. Here's the Vampire Hunter's Trophy:
For some reason Mr Surfacer 1500 in a bottle is like hen's teeth here. Rattle cans are easy to get. I tried the rattle can but it's rubbish. I want to use my airbrush.
Has anyone tried to decant the paint from the rattle can into a jar or even directly into the airbrush cup?
Is there any likelihood of success or will I end up with just a mess? Thought I'd ask first before I end up potentially doing blackface...
Finished my British Army United Nations scimitar. Happy with the results, even if white is an absolute bitch to work with. Makes a nice contrast to the rest of my collection and a change from dark greens or desert camo.
Tried to do some stripes with the black not sure how to feel about it.
The question I am about to ask is also for commercial porpuses.
I want to know how I can reach out to the younger generation of modelbuilders and/or how to introduce modelbuilding to the younger generation.
Some context. Recently I (23 m) took over my uncles webshop in military model kits called Tasmodelshop (located in the Netherlands and home to the largerst product range of military 1:72 kits in Western Europe), and I want to ensure its future by attracting the younger generation. And my logic is to ask the people itself directly.
Everyone is welcome to awnser and give tips and their opinion.
I have two small panels that I need to paint raised detail. Some black, red and silver. Luckily, I have a spare set of the pictured parts. I’ve tried pooling masking fluid in the lower areas but it didn’t pool evenly and the raised detail paint did not have a straight edge. I’d prefer not to dry brush as I’d like the painted detail to be quite bold.
Another option, because of the white base coat I can carefully scrape away quite successfully, any paint that goes into the lower areas.
I’ve also seen another technique on YouTube, where the raised detail was painted the required color without worrying too much about where the paint goes and then preparing an enamel paint and thinner wash to pool into the lower area, covering any stray paint.
Which method do you use?
I bought myself a nice ferrari f1 sf90 as a resin kit from scalemates but after i opened the Box i saw that not only some pieces got broken during Shipping (because the resin was so thin maybe 0.5-1mm) but there were actually the complete wrong decals included, because if im not blind tje 2019 ferrari had totally different livery than the 2018/2017 Ferrari (that are the decals i recieved ) I messaged the guy who Sold me the kit and he just told me ,,i can't do anything about that, he recieved the model like that." Mate you could atleast told me that. Is there anyway to get my hands on the right decals ? Kit is in 1/20 and i only find decals for 1/8 1/18 1/43 most of them only have like half of the decals i need for the complete model.
