A place to post plastic scale models, diorama's, works in progress, questions and tutorials.
Welcome to Reddit's Plastic Modelling sub.
If your post gets deleted by auto moderation, please read the posting guidelines below.
This sub serves as a platform to share the world's very best scale models you found on the web, to serve as a source of inspiration or just to enjoy the art created by the worlds best modelers. Posts in this sub may seem far in between sometimes, mainly due to the fact that real world class miniature dioramas, busts or figures only come along once in a while. Anyone can post an album of a model or diorama if they think it fits the sub.
Questions you might have regarding plastic modelling can be posted too, although it might be advisable to do this in a sub like /r/modelmakers as you will have a better chance at a response. Tutorials and workshop videos are welcome too.
Please keep the posting format in mind when typing out your submission title.

The car is complete for the month of October and a 1971 Pontiac Firebird kit is next for November
I tried using a soldering iron but the nylon keeps sticking to the iron and creating a mess-- I'm not sure the best way to modify the iron or if there would be a better tool. I'm trying to think of all the possible ways for non-stick surfaces: silicone, aluminum, parchment paper, teflon-- I also saw plastic welders seem to have brass tips but not sure how that would make a difference. Any experience or insight welcome
Hello, I am planning on building a F-16A in 1/48 scale. I was able to see some former Israeli birds. They are now owned by Top Aces. I would say I have a medium skill level if that helps. What would be the best kit for me? Are there any other subreddits I can go to for help? I am not sure what other info would be needed.
What materials are good to make a mold for a part I need lots of but isn’t widely available in sets? I’ve thought about clay, resin, idk what else (the part needs to be recoverable after the mold cures). And once you’ve made the part, what materials do you melt into the mold to make the pieces (ideally something with a low melting point but still decently hard when dry)
(Original parts I need for reference)

I am rehabilitating Revell's USS Burton Island, an ice breaker. Revell made it in 1/285 and I'm looking for modern enhancements including photo etch parts, decals and anything that comes close to scale, e.g. 1/300. I've found nothing, with the exception of the single-gun 5"/38 replacement turret from Model Monkey, LLC. Any ideas welcomed!
Looking for unassembled model kits for sale. Cars, trucks or auto trailers only.
Wanting to build a 1/25 scale Revell 32 Ford 5 window coupe for a friend of mine. He would like a candy tangerine color on the finished project and I have a question. Would a gold metal flake basecoat followed by a stained glass tangerine orange overcoat equal up to a candy tangerine orange?
Hi guys, I'm doing a 3d print for a friend and last minute he asks: can you make it shiny? I haven't picked up an airbrush in 20 years but I have time and willing to explore.
Question 1: is there a concensus on which is best chrome paint for plastic? Best being most reflective and mirror like.
Question 2: is electroplating worth the trouble? Is it significantly better then paint?
Many thanks.
Looking to get back to the hobby after 28 year hiatus! I need some recomendations for online stores! I'm a WW2 1:35 diorama guy, looking for online stores that have good pricing (discounts and sales) and good selection that ARE IN THE UNITED STATES (or ship to United States)
PS. Are a non toxic smelling paints now avaiable? PS2 picture from a modeling competition, not my work
