mixing buspirone w MDMA

going to a festival next week so naturally I want to do drugs. I am currently taking 5 mg of buspirone twice a day for anxiety. would it be fine to take maybe .1 of MDMA and just skip my doses of buspirone that day? I know mixing Molly with SSRIs is more dangerous because of serotonin syndrome but I am not sure about buspirone. I have already done 1 gram of shrooms no problem. thank u

Monopolistic?

Are pharmaceutical companies monopolies? Yes. Is there a price ceiling for each medication?

I am not sure.

& Yes, I know about patents and the price fluctuations. I study Economics.

Buprenorphine completely stopped nocturnal bruxism

Hello! This is my first ever reddit post, so bear with me... I'm just looking for some help answering a question.

I am a 26 year old male. I have had extreme nocturnal jaw clenching troubles since I was very young, leading to me being prescribed opioids for severe pain that has been beyond debilitating. Chewed through every $1000 mouthguard. Over the years, no matter what medication any doctor or specialist prescribed (muscle relaxants, antidepressants, benzodiazepines, on and on), nothing could get me to stop clenching my jaw at night.

I decided to get off the opioids and switch to suboxone.

Night 1: My jaw was hanging open the entire night, to the point I had terrible dry mouth in the morning. I have never felt so well slept. My head wasn't swimming and pounding for the first time in years. My girlfriend said she had absolutely never seen me sleep that way.

No other opioid, or any other medication for that matter, has had this effect on me. I even got down to around 0.1mg of buprenorphine at night, and still, my mouth hangs open. I want to get off of suboxone, as it makes me feel pretty depressed, but every time I do the jaw clenching comes back in full force. I know it is not the naloxone that stops my jaw clenching, as my doctor has switched me purely to buprenorphine.

Has anybody here heard absolutely anything like this before? I cannot find any writing on it anywhere on the internet. Is there any medication in the world that shares a similar pharmacology to buprenorphine, without the opioid effects?

Thank you for reading, and thank you for trying to help me. I sometimes feel completely out of options, but maybe someone here will know something I don't! Hope you are well.

EXO-CD24 5 day cure for covid-19? how to invest in ?

Hi All, I see the headlines about a 5 day cure for those infected by Covid-19,

EXO-CD24, an experimental inhaled medication developed at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, cured all 30 moderate-to-severe cases in a Phase I clinical trial.

Developed over the past six months at the hospital, EXOCD24 stops the “cytokine storm” – where the immune system goes out of control and starts attacking healthy cells – that occurs in the lungs of 5-7% of Covid-19 patients.

Here are a couple of many references. Israeli hospital claims may have found cure for COVID-19 (ynetnews.com) and Has Israel just found the cure for Covid? - ISRAEL21c plenty more references on the net. I see the hospital where this was developed patents everything, but what I would like to identify is what pharmaceutical companies will likely be producing it? I also see some of that hospitals board are on the board of some small pharmaceutical companies in Israel, but are they likely to get the licenses to produce? in short - how can i invest in this?

Drug interactions with Ivermectin

So my parents have been prescribed Ivermectin for prophylaxis against covid, by their doctor. So they will be taking it in regular doses twice per week. However this doctor is, well old and mean and kinda dismissive..... So I trust your knowledge more to sort of answer.... Are there a lot of dangerous drug interactions with Ivermectin?

This is a list of my parents medications. They brought it up to the doctor and he kinda looked for a second and said it would be fine. But I do not know. Are there any drug interactions here that you think would be bad with Ivermectin? https://imgur.com/a/8k5UDKn

Toxicology Podcast!

Hi all!

I’m a pharmacist by background from UCSF with a major fascination with all things toxicology. I cohost a podcast called That Shit is Poison! Which is a true crime toxicology podcast where the drug/toxin is the main suspect.

We’re two best friends that tell each other infamous tales of poison in history and dive deep into the pharmacology! We do a range of topics from elemental radium poisoning to LSD in MK Ultra.

We also do listener feedback, so if you have any of your own Poison stories or toxicology stories we read them on the air if you email thatshitispoison@gmail.com or DM us on Instagram @thatshitispoison

**we just did a two part series on MK Ultra, diving deep into the history and pharmacology of LSD. Part II comes out tomorrow!

Rx oxymorphone ROA potential option?

Have legitimate queries about best ROA for Rx oxymorphone. Should I ask here for AFOAF or is there a better sub forum for non-rec opioid questions? Relaying due to the extremely low oral bioavailability (10%) and an idea this FOAF had from a nearly Ketamine nasal spray(it's not Ketamine itself but a more potent very close relative being used in lieu of Ketamine) new med (just mentioned). It is a combination of [FOAF apologizes, is on no sleep and no food, also he's not feeling well 🥺, boohoo brain, bear with my retelling if you can! Tysvm!] certain percentage of saline solution mixed with the "Ketamine cousin" (yes FOAF is full of terrible info today, he deeply apologizes). This is a new medication for chronic pain based off Ketamine but must be given in office for certain (if you are a physician) obvious reasons. His query: does anyone with real knowledge of pharmacology know if mixing oxymorphone with a certain percentage of saline solution to then be administered nasally (or with H20 as is water soluble) would be more efficient (he can't change his dose and says oral is ridiculously ineffective) as well as better for his lungs? He wants nothing to do with injections and has no other options for switching meds. He wishes he could just take Ketamine and oxymorphone but of a safer ROA with an effective bioavailability. Help my pained FOAF, please? Many thanks if able to follow my iteration of his crazy. He is relying on me (egads). (。•́︿•̀。)!<

a) take choline supplements

b) ingest high amounts of B vitamins (like niacin/B3)

c) smoke/take nicotine supplements

d) take cholinergic medication (Bethanecol for example)

Which over the counter medications come in smallish, circular, flat, white or greyish-white, pills?

As a child I had all sorts of small problems here and there, and there were 4 of 5 different over the counter medications my parents gave me depending on whether I had an allergy flare up, a cold, a headache, a muscle ache, etc. Ironically I remember most of them looked similar, most were round and flat, sort of like an M&M candy or an altoid mind just smaller and pretty flat circles not concave like an M&M, and they were all either white, or grey, or whitish grey.

Those problems have suddenly resurfaced, and I would like to stock up and have all of these at home for when symptoms flare up. TLDR what over the counter medications come in small flat circular pills that are white, grey, or in between? (If no one knows, is there somewhere online I can search by shape and color only over the counter drugs? I might find it there)

NSAID interaction with SSRIs

Hey guys I've read online that NSAIDs reduce the effectiveness of SSRIs and I was wondering if this is true first of all. And if it is true I'd like to know to what degree the effectiveness is reduced. As I've been having lower back pain chronically for the last month and it seems like NSAIDs more specifically naproxen helps a lot with the back pain and I'd like to take it for the back pain but I also don't want to reduce the effectiveness of Escitalopam which is the SSRI I'm on. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

ANY of You Know of ANY Prescription Medications That Help With Pseudobulbar Affect (PBA)?

I am on the hunt for a pre-existing pharmaceutical drug that can help calm the random/uncontrollable/annoying/over-the-top laughing spells I've had since obtaining my TBI ~7.5y ago.

Am trying to find an alternative to Avanir's Nuedexta even though it was compounded specifically for such a disorder because it is currently $1,500 for a ONE month's filled script, without any sort of health insurance applied.

I've personally tried Lexapro 5-20mg and am currently weaning myself off of it before giving another medication a try before breaking the bank for said Nuedexta.

My pharmacist told me that the regularly distributed compound of 2 drugs, Symbyax, would be the only other option that he'd suggest next...

ANY THOUGHTS, EXPERIENCES OR SUGGESTIONS ON SYMBYAX OR OTHER PBA MEDICATIONS = MUCH APPRECIATED!👊

Why are different types of salts used in certain enantiomeric mixtures? For example: Adderall

Hi. I am curious as to why in the common pharmaceutical drug Adderall, or "Amphetamine Salts" as is listed as the RX name, there are two different types of salts used for each enantiomer:

Dextroamphetamine Saccharate
Amphetamine Aspartate Monohydrate
Dextroamphetamine Sulfate, USP
Amphetamine Sulfate, USP

These are all present in equal concentrations, so each salt makes up 1/4 of the total pill. Why don't they just use the two sulfates, or any other pairing of salts instead of having the variety?

Thanks so much
