Saw a big production being filmed on Sunfair rd. Anyone know who/what it is?
Crews standing in the middle of the road oblivious to traffic and a bunch of cop cars standing around letting them do it lmao
Who else is excited for some amazing quiet tent camping?! In all seriousness, I’m on the fence about cancelling, I hate wind lol ugh…
I can't go anymore. Sold out show! You will have to download the dice app and add me as a friend for the ticket transfer.
Based in Reno. Taking a 5 day road trip in a 2wd van. Was thinking of doing the Mojave or Joshua Tree but Jtree sounds like a bummer with a dog. I’m very familiar with most of the Nevada dessert but less with the southwest areas and haven’t spent much time past the Mojave other than driving through. Looking for suggestions on a good itinerary. Love quirky off the beaten path sites, hiking, hot springs, camping and stars. Love exploring with the pup. What would your perfect itinerary be so explore the Nevada desserts and or eastern sierras (below snow)? Thanks so much!
My family will be staying in JT for 5 nights, first timers. Is there anything else (attractions, hiking, etc) worth doing within, say, an hour drive or so? Already planning on checking out salton sea.
Looking to book a trip to the desert in April. I’m looking for places on mountainsides overlooking valleys etc - or just big vistas in general. What are the most beautiful surrounding towns that should have nice upscale airbnb’s away from it all?
Looking in JT, Yucca but looking to zero in.
Hi! Recently moved to Landers from the IE to be closer to family but I was curious if anyone knew of any local horseback riding places/equestrian centers that offered rides?
Thanks in advance!
I’ll be visiting San Diego for a week in late spring, and was considering a day tour of Joshua Tree National Park, but for the life of me I cannot find a tour that picks people up IN San Diego and takes them through the park for a day. All of the services that I can find only do pickups in Coachella Valley towns, and that doesn’t work for the itinerary that I have going.
It’s odd because there are plenty of guided tours out of San Francisco to Yosemite, and that’s double the distance between San Diego and Joshua Tree 🤷🏻♂️
Does anybody know if there’s a tour that picks people up IN San Diego, takes them through the park for a half day or so, then drops people back off in the city?
And before anyone suggests renting a car and going on my own, I don’t drive so that’s not an option for me.
I love this hike!
Is Barker Dam holding water this Spring?
Heading that way this week and hoping to get lucky with some photos
I’ll be LA for a couple of weeks in April (love it there, as a Brit living in Sydney I try and get to the US every year) and as a birthday celebration really want to go Stargazing in Joshua Tree.
Are there any recommendations on tours to do this from LA - or is renting a car and doing it DIY the ideal?
Thanks in advance :)
It took some doing, research, and a few tries, but my sweetheart got amazing shots of the Milky Way. Wednesday morning, 5:00 AM, at Turkey Flats. The darkest part of the park we could find. iPhone, “night mode,” maximum exposure. What an amazing place.
Area three is closed, that’s not news. When we were there this week we looked all over that boulder for human marks, didn’t see any. Anyone know where the glyphs are on this rock?
(Note well: we’re lookers, not touchers)
Hello everyone, have a trip coming up next week to Joshua tree going to be staying at the south end. Is there any out door shooting rates for target practice nearby?
My whole family was going to go but can't make it. Selling our tickets. Let me know if you're interested.
Going to Joshua Tree for the first time, will have three full days there. We have these options for campgrounds, which seem quite different in terms of landscape and location. What would more experienced folks recommend?
I'm looking for experienced partners for desert hikes either inside Joshua Tree National Park or nearby (Sheep Hole Wilderness, Mojave National Preserve, etc). Preferably Desert Peaks Section hikes that have Class 2 or Class 3 sections. Please DM if that's of interest.
Hi all looking for some advice, as I am not from the area and this will be my first visit to Joshua Tree. I am planning to propose to my girlfriend next month during our trip to Joshua Tree and I have booked a photographer to capture it. The plan is to propose in the timeframe around sunset. I am looking for recommendations on where a good spot to do it, with the following factors in mind:
Accessibility - We are not planning to go on some long hike to a spot, as I don’t want it to be super difficult for the photographer to have to hike to the spot. They will have to hang back and be unnoticed by my girlfriend, but obviously close enough for the moment, so shorter hike is best. Something relatively close to parking I think would be easiest logistics with photographer
Decent view/spot for photos
Least crowding as possible - I obviously know there’s going to be some crowding and people around, which is fine because it will help our photographer blend in, I just don’t want to plan on the most populated sunset viewing spot and have issues with parking, getting around, and creating an intimate moment in crowds of people and also tons of people in photos.
All advice is much appreciated!!
Hello everyone, me and the family have a trip to cottonwood campground, should we bring our ebikes? Never been so wondering if it's worth it. Also can anyone give us some things to do in that area?
Hi all! I’m really struggling to find specific camping areas outside of JTNP. I’m wanting free & legal dispersed camping near the north entrance. The internet says there’s lots of BLM land north of the park. I’m wondering if there are there any first come first serve spots, not expecting amenities, but maybe a fire ring? Or something somewhat established. Otherwise a clear map of legal boondocking works too!
Any leads help. Thanks adventure friends!
