Is this detour unrealistic?

A friend and I are road-tripping from Phoenix to Los Angeles in two weeks. We are splitting the drive and I thought it would be a good almost halfway point to stop at Joshua Tree National Park and do a little sight seeing before switching drivers. I think the two things we would want to do would be the one mile Hidden Valley trail, then go see the view at Keys View. Are these two things realistic if we want to stop for around one hour max? We are planning on leaving Phoenix at 5 am on a Monday for reference. Thanks in advance

Night bike ride recs

Looking for some recommendations on not heavily traveled paved and dirt roads to ride my mountain bike on to just get miles. 20-30 mile loops or routes preferably, but shorter is fine too. Does not need to be in the park Will be riding after work, in the dark due to the time change. I am an experienced biker, but new to the area, and have safety lights and front headlight that are bright as heck. Thanks for any recs!

One side of the CA Riding and Hiking trail has lots of greenery. The other does not. (Western part of park)

Discuss with friends and family.

Stroller friendly trails?

We just had our first baby and are heading to Palm Springs for our anniversary. We live north of San Diego so it is a short drive. Our baby is 2 months and we would prefer to do Joshua Tree trails in our all terrain stroller. Are there any that are flat and stroller friendly? I can carry, but really prefer stroller.

TLDR: Any flat stroller friendly trails?

Busy visiting on Thanksgiving Day?

A Canadian (so our thanksgiving was last month) planning on visiting Joshua tree for my parents first time. Curious if it would be very busy then or would most people be doing a thanksgiving dinner and visit the park on Friday and the weekend?

NYE 24 Recos?

Hiya! Been to JT a bunch but never over NYE, any suggestions or recommendations? Pappy & Harriet’s just released their NYE plans but it’s a little pricey, has anyone ever been for NYE? Is it worth it? Thanks in advance!

Fires in designated rings in the backcountry?

I’m backpacking in Joshua Tree soon. I’ve seen some differing information on whether you can light fires in designated rings in the backcountry. I remember seeing on the official rules that there ARE designated rings on backcountry trails in which fires are allowed, but other (more numerous but less official) sources seem to deny the existence of these rings in the backcountry and say they’re only at more established campsites. Can anyone advise? Camping with a fire vs without a fire seems very different to me.

Big Bear - Palm Springs - Joshua Tree. Stay suggestions

we are two friends planning a roadtrip from SF for this long weekend to visit Big Bear and stay for the night in palm springs. next to visit joshua tree and return back to palm springs. check out and do some sight seeing and then go back to near LA and stay for night then next day travel back to SF.

Can you suggest better stay options in palm springs? Nothing fancy as we are just two guys. Want a place which has parking though. Any suggestions ?

We have a rough iteneary but any tips or things to cover? anything to keep in mind during this time of the year?
Few things we planned are
Tubing in Big bear, rotating cable car in JT, star gazing in JT the night.

Thanks much!!

Yucca Valley Swap Meet Closing

Hi I heard on the community Facebook group that the yucca valley swap meet was closing along with some other older businesses due to an ADA issue. Is there anyway to save the weird out here in the high desert?

How long to visit in Joshua Tree?

We're planning to visit Joshua Tree in mid February and are wondering how long to stay. We prefer easy-ish hikes.

Is it likely to be crowded weekdays?

We'd drive from LA and stay in 29 Palms.

Hello

Do you need a heated pool when you rent a villa in the 2nd half of April ? Especially, we would like to have midnight swim bathing.

Thanks

Campground Advice for New Years Trip

hi, my partner and I are planning a trip to JTree from Jan 1-4. i understand the park is especially crowded around holidays but was wondering what it'd take to secure a campground at one of the first come, first served campgrounds. like, how early should we try to arrive on new year's? when do campgrounds fill up to capacity? we're especially interested in maybe getting a spot at Hidden Valley campground since it seems to offer the most accessibility for bouldering. would appreciate any insight or advice!!
