What's up OC!
Feeling the temp of who would be up for a day run to Anza. It's beena while since I've been out myself and would be great to meet some local off readers.
Cheers
My neighbor just bought a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited which was a pavement princess. (Jurassic Park themed) No book with it, didn't know how to shift it into and out of 4WD. We have a Tacoma, so no help there.
My Google-fu says Jeeps have to be shifted while in motion. Any hot tips for shifting? We are a bit concerned that this thing was probably never put in 4WD until now. Neighbor drove Baja in his youth, but is a bit rusty. Planning to take him to the local sand Island for some practice.
Hey, i am interested in talk about ohvs and what you ride and where you ride it. Just looking for people who enjoy riding their raptors and yzs in fhe desert snd then also cleaning up before we go.
DM me of you are interested in talking about this
Hi there, Im pretty new to offroading as I recently acquired my first offroad capable vehicle. I am looking to join a group or find some other people that are into the hobby that do regular runs. I have the offroad map finder app i think is called OX to find trails but i'm sure there are others I dont know about or that aren't on there.
Would love to chop it up with anyone interested in this type of activity and can offroad themselves. Feel free to respond to this thread or send a DM.
Got the 150hp compressor from HF and it burned up after my 3rd outing this year… the fuse actually melted.
Any recommendations for a replacement? Im not up for the $600 ARB yet. I have Ryobi 1 tools, so I thought maybe that instead of running a plug to the battery. Our lord Amazon seems to have a dozen replicas of what I had as well.
I’m learning jumps on my dirt bike. Looking for a fun forgiving spot with maybe some step ups. Does Gorman have features like that? Also I have a red sticker if anyone has suggestions for spots I can go after April
I normally head up Maple Springs and North main divide for a quick off road fix, but they’ve been closed for what feels like weeks. Any other nearby trails worth checking out?
Check out my new video with the defender 90 on some hard trails in lake arrowhead and big bear.
Anyone know if there is snow on Thomas mountain?
Been traveling mostly dirt from Canada and looking for more. Any ideas will help. Thanks.
Where does one meet people into off-roading?
We have a Tacoma pro that we use to go off roading but we are in search of a 7-8 seater.
We have been looking at a 2007 ford expedition 4x4 with 107k miles on it 2008 Nissan Armada LE with 141 k miles 2009 GMC Yukon Denali 4x4 178k miles
We want something that does well offroad and on the street, but that is mainly reliable. I would really appreciate your input. Thank you.
Does anyone know a shop in Orange County that can make something like this on mine? I don't want no cheap weak aluminum that's just for show. I beat the hell out of my car and need serious steel protection. I know it's going to cost a bit I just want it done right. Any kick ass welders feel free to PM me your info.
I've got a stock JLU Rubicon. I didn't get a steel bumper, figured I would get a takeoff or aftermarket. I've been a bit hesitant to explore too much without much self-recovery gear then I expected. I'm not sure where a winch is handy outside of mud/sand. Can I accomplish the same thing as a winch with a couple 2x6s, shovel, and sweat out in the desert or should I move winch/bumper higher up? (I'm about to order some rock slide step sliders - kid and wife are struggling getting in/out)
Thinking about getting the lift kit for my tacoma. Is there some group of people trading used lift kits? Should i just go new?
I have a friend who’s car is stuck on a dirt road in Lee Vining. He’s not from the area so we aren’t sure where else to get help. I have a dropped pin and can give vehicle details to anyone who’s willing or able to help. Thank you!
ETA: He’s out, thanks again!
We have a trip coming up with 5 guys and dog, and with all the gear we are taking, we all agreed it would be more fun to have a 3rd car.
We found topoterra.com which has great choices, but you have to go to San Diego to pick it up. Anyone know another option in LA?
I have a Honda Pilot and two kids that need to get out in nature this summer. I have seen some places that say our 2016 Honda Pilot AWD might be able to go a little off-road at Hungry Valley OVH. I've only ever driven old work trucks off-road before and know a little about picking lines (drove ATV all over everything) never got a truck stuck.
Question:
Thank you for any recommendations and suggestions!
UPDATE:
I've found Drinkwater Flats OHV and Lake Hughes Truck Trail which all look like smooth fire roads from the few YoutTube videos I've found. Well some stuff at Drinkwater Flats is gnarly, but I'm all stock so 7" ground clearance is all I got.
So long story short, got my Jeep Wrangler stuck in fairly deep mud rut, looking for someone with a winch to help me out! Let me know, I will definitely pay you! Thank you!
