FO4 hardcore health balancing, and general installation questions

Hello everyone, I have questions for you professionals, I am a newb at modding heavily, and thank you all in advance for any advice.

After watching videos like "Playing Fallout 4 like a Tactical Stealth Game Vol. 2 [Modded]" it's lit a fire in me to return to the game for a modded playthrough in a similar hardcore, true stealth style gameplay where I die easily, and kill mobs easily.

1.) Since the addition of Survival mode, which I would like to use, are mods balancing HP necessary for this? It appears the mod "Hardcore Health Overhaul" has a dependency on "No Legendaries (Weapons or NPCS)" due to the nature of legendary NPCS, but this mod is now unavailable. Should I go ahead just and install True Damage and Scourge and call it a day?

2.) Should I use a mod manager like Vortex, or just manually install everything? If a mod in Nexus has the option for a Vortex install... it should be as simple as installing it that way? It seems like I will be launching the game through the F4SE executable, and "Classic Holstered Weapons System (CHW)" for example, tells me to install it "like any other mod" ensuring the .dll and .ini files appear in the F4SE plugin folder... is this something that Vortex is supposed to cover? Should I worry about conflicts installing some mods manually and others through Vortex?

3**.) Is trial and error going to be necessary to make sure everything is working?** During my testing, I was struggling to confirm if certain mods were working or not, and during the mass install, I had F4SE installed through Vortex which was of course, not correct, so I manually install it, boot through the executable, joy, yet "Classic Holstered Weapons System (CHW)" was clearly not working despite many other running fine which is sewing doubt in my playthrough, so I'm just starting over

When going through a Vortex install as opposed to a manual install, I feel like I might be missing something. But if I don't use a mod manager like Vortex, then I understand it will be more difficult to remove mods and I will be more likely to run into game breaking issues if something goes sideways.

A World of Pain F03/TTW

Hello.
I’ve installed TTW and along with it (and many other mods from WSG) on WSG’s mod list/instructions they link to a mod page titled “TTW a World of Pain For Fallout 3” I’ve also been loving the new content this mod adds. But I noticed that the official WoP for FO3 page has been updated quite a bit more than the one for TTW.
Does anyone know if only the one specifically for TTW is compatible, or has the mod’s creator ever made the original one compatible and WSG has just not updated?
I assume it’s that only the one labeled TTW is compatible, but I figured I’d ask.

[FNV] Fallout new Vegas crashing every time I try to hot-key a new weapon or equip a already hot-keyed one

Pretty self explanatory. I was playing fine for hours, got to cotton wood cove, rode on over, chatted about some securitrons in a big ole hole. Went on over, then when I got my weapons back after entering the room, I tried to re hot key them because the game auto un-does that when your belongings are taken. But when I pressed the hot key button the game crashed. I booted it back up and then when I pressed right on the D-Pad, it crashed again. Stupidly I tried for a half hour pressing every button the D-Pad to no avail. I have mods downloaded but I don’t think they are the problem. Literally for no reason the game crashed out of no where when I tried to hot key a weapon which I did MANY times before getting to cotton wood cove. I will list my mods downloaded but I don’t think they are the issue. This is my first time modding a game officially so how should I know. This is also my first time officially modding a game. I modded fallout 4 on console and that’s so easy it’s like a point and click adventure game. I also played the shit outta FNV on console, so I just wanted to try soemthing new with modding, but I didn’t realize how much of a pain this shit is. Again, any help is greatly appreciated. I just wanna play the game with my cool mods and shit 😭

[FO4] Did I fucked everything up?

Hi guys, I really need your help in this. So I installed the whole sim settlements 2 mod package and I was having a blast, but at one point I was trying to find the in-game mod menu and I deactivated the Sim Settlements part 1 mod and enabled it like a second later, but after Fallout 4 reloaded the mod list I realized that my command center has all the current activities in action, but my supplies are gone and I can't make more supply deals with my settlements (wich are ok) because my supply employees are working but not giving me any benefits. So guys, is there a way to solve it? Did I really fucked up? Have I to start a new game? Thanks in advance

I really can't find anything like this anywhere, except for an old mod called Solid Project which has been deleted.

I just like looking at the models of things in Fallout 4, and would like something similar.

[Fo4]Are there any mods that restore the National Guard Training Yard on Xbox?

I'm doing a modded enclave playthrough and right now I have a mod installed that adds various enclave outposts throughout the Commonwealth. One of these is at the Training Yard and it looks great on the outside but on the inside it's a shit show. Are there any mods that like restore/fix it?

A fess issues I can't pinpoint in my collection... [Fo4]

I've been trying to fix a few critical issues I'm noticing with my mod collection, but I can't quite pinpoint what mods may be causing these issues. What i've noticed:

  1. Mods like Scourge and Wasteland Ballistics seems to be overwritten, or at least aren't working as they should, because I'm still finding plenty of bullet sponges in game (myself included). In particular, the mission Unlikely Valentine was a nightmare because all the triggerman were higher level despite Scourge and had an absolute tanker of health per NPC.. I mean, almost an entire extended clip of 10mm to take them out. I have no clue what may be causing this as I don't THINK I have any other combat overhaul mods.
  2. NPC's and player character constantly ragdoll when getting shot. Pretty stumped on what mod could possibly be causing this as well... it's such a silly feature. It doesn't ruin game-play but it definitely makes firefights a lot less exciting.
  3. For some reason, Fens has some texture issues despite having texture mods installed. Everything for the mod ends up turning pink. Maybe a mod conflict?

Fo4 "positioner enabled"

So I have custom camera which comes with the shoulder swap but for some reason I get “positioner enabled” every time I swap shoulder view. Super inconvenient when in combat and having to tap A every time to get rid of it. Does anyone know where it’s coming from and how to disable it?

Looking for a Settlement Management-like mod for FO4

Mostly something like Settlement Management Software V2 - For Rename AnyThing and Vault-Tec Population Management Terminal, where it shows various relevant information and utilities regarding settlers in your settlement.

That one is good, but looking for something more recent.

[FNV] Is it easier to mod the steam version over the pc game pass version? (Ultimate edition)

I just had the worst day struggling to get a mod list that I saw posted by pcgamer to even make it to the title menu. I configured the load order and vortex had no more notifications and said it should run but nothing. I’ve owned all Fallouts that have been on Xbox and now that I’ve had a pc for a while I wanted to come back to new Vegas with mods. I’ve set up a simple enough mod list before using vortex from nexus mods for the pc game pass version that worked but I really wanted to kit up this playthrough up with big quests like “new California” and retextures for graphics and a handful of others. Found out new California isn’t listed to be compatible with pc Xbox at all and tried disabling it and still crashed. I found that a lot of the mods that were up to date needed to be cleaned and the mod cleaner recommended by the FOMM out of 7zip couldn’t locate them even when opening the launcher. The furthest I got was the default obsidian screen followed by the altered new California Bethesda softworks screen and then it would crash. I’m guessing a lot of the issues I’m having could be boiled down to me using the ultimate edition from game pass instead of one from steam. I used NVAC, NVSE and pretty much followed that pc gamer article mod list with a couple others I wanted. Got so fed up I ended up uninstalling everything in my vortex and designated NV mod folder and threw in the towel for the day hoping maybe this could be my saving grace.

TL;DR: am I going to have an easier time using a bunch of nexus mods through vortex if I buy the steam version of New Vegas instead of using the pc game pass version.

I have seen people do like the AN-94 from MWI, the Glock family from MWII, the commando from Cold War but why not like a mod that is every gun from MWI, MWII, Cold War, Vanguard?

Can we chill out? [fo4]

Can we chill out?

It feels like the work put towards making mods available to the community has been less and less appreciated as of late. I get that people may disagree with the fashion in which some devs have responded to critics, and I’m not saying I think some of these devs have been in the right, but can we take a second to try and put ourselves in their shoes?

Imagine spending months to years developing and maintaining a mod solely intended to improve the players experience, and then having an update from the game developers themselves which introduced performance issues for any modifications made to NPCs, and receiving the criticism and blame from hundreds of members in the community before the cause of these issues were even confirmed.

These people spend countless hours bettering our gaming experiences, yet we blamed them for issues caused by changes Bethesda made before the community had even determined the root cause of said issues.

I can see where the opinions of both sides of this issue are rooted from, and I’m not saying anyone is wrong in where their opinions rooted from. But can we please just remember the effort that goes into developing mods is purely voluntary? Software development is work that pays people well over six figures due to the effort and knowledge required, we are getting months worth of this work for free… I just worry the modding community is starting to come off as entitled in a sense, there seems to be a lack of empathy for the mod developers perspective.

I don’t develop mods, I do develop software professionally, I do enjoy the benefits of being able to use mods for free, but please bear with me and try to put your opinions aside and let’s look at this from the developers’ perspective…

Imagine years of development and maintenance for a mod addressing issues that shouldn’t have been in the games release to begin with. This is a passion project with 100s to 1000s of hours put in, solely to better the average player’s experience… Then imagine the developers who left the problems that you spent time and effort fixing decided to release a patch which introduced performance issues for any mod that altered NPC data yet left all those problems you fixed still unaddressed. Then imagine a community of hundreds of people blaming your work for another new issue introduced by the devs, and you try to tell the community it couldn’t have been something you did. You know the code you’ve altered and you know it wouldn’t logically cause these new problems, and then trying to tell people it wasn’t your mod that’s responsible, yet everybody assumes you’re wrong and escalates the harshness of their responses despite not having seen any of the code itself. A week later it comes out from a third party confirming it was not the mod developers fault, and instead of apologies for attributing blame preemptively, people continue to trash the mod developers despite confirmation it wasn’t their fault. I would be pissed off.

Imagine volunteering hundreds of hours towards a project only for a mistake your manager made to be entirely blamed on you, and then despite the manager being found out responsible, the attribution of blame remains unchanged.

Can we just remember that mod development is a voluntary effort, and we should be grateful for any free service we receive? These developers could easily make $100k+ working elsewhere with the same skills, or develop mods without making them publicly available, yet we are fortunate enough to get free improvements towards our favourite games, and somehow still act as if they’re the cause of our problems and not the source of bettering our experience?

Downvote me all you want, if the community truly can’t empathize with the mod developers perspective, I just worry we may be approaching the end of modders’ willingness to support our favourite games and mods. They’re doing work valued at $100k+ annually for free.

I’d love if this post could start some discussion that allow players to better understand the developer experience. Even if you wholeheartedly disagree with me, I’d love to hear why, I’m truly just confused by the communities current stance towards developers.

[FO4] Robots & Personality

Hello! I was wondering if anybody knows of some existing mods that may add some personality to the Automatron robots, or perhaps a new robot companion mod, since the interactions with the robots can get a bit plain after a while, Ada is OK, but she is kinda one note compared to other companions

It doesn't have to have 2500+ lines, a unique quest line and a romance option.

I'd just like some personality in a robot companion, like Codsworth, Curie, Ed-e or Adeline

[FO4] better realistic damage mods?

Currently using better locational damage and I feel like it's made the enemies even bigger bullet sponges unless you hit their head, which then is either an instant kill or like 3 shots. This could make sense for armored raiders and gunners but unloading 50 bullets from an smg into a trigger man in a simple suit only for them to live is kinda silly when 1 or 2 shots in the head are an instant kill. Looking for a replacement that still keeps the instant or near instant headshot death without cranking every other form of health up to even worse than vanilla fo4 levels, with armors making sense in their protection levels. I'll mess with the config a bit in the meantime.

Add on, noticed my companions do far more damage than I do with even weaker guns, turrets taking mags from anything that isn't a laser from me while piper with a 10mm just shoots it down in one mag. Same applies to standard enemies, where I tickle them and the companion melts them till their unrecognizable.

[FO4} looking for mods as a new player.

IM coming over from PS5 and wanted to find out what mods I should be using.

  1. Looking for better colors to make things "pop" in the game, doesn't have to make things unrealistic but just better looking maybe 2k or 4k.

2 Something that helps with farming. I know I read a while ago, somewhere, that there was a way to assign multiple tasks at the same time , instead of each individual plant for example.

  1. Anything to show where dead bodies or unlooted enemies are? Maybe it was the game but I swear some disappeared on me never to be found lol

  2. Anything to know where your Companion is? I use dogmeat a lot, and at times he wonders, or he will locate something run over to it and it will be to dark for me to find him. Or he runs off to attack and All i hear is him whimpering somewhere in the distance .

  3. any suggestions would be great Im sure I missed stuff that i could us to make the game a bit better

[FO3] Becoming Gary on XBOX

This one will sound a bit off, but for good reason. A few weeks ago I decided to get the DLCs and play as Gary. I soon discovered I am crap at copying NPCs. I know there are mods that change the player presets to Gary. However those are PC only. I am wondering if there is anyone who can boot up the Gary mod on fallout 3 and post what the preset sliders become. I have been trying for weeks and have come no closer to succeeding, and I do not want to spend more money just for a digital copy on the PC.

Bodyslide showing empty boxes (FNV)

[FO4] Hi, I'm attempting to use the Fallout 4 Creation Kit to transfer a PC mod called Wolverine Mod - Weapon X Project Nexus from to my Xbox.

I aim to transfer the Wolverine Mod - Weapon X Project from Nexus to Bethesda.net for my Xbox. However, I have no idea how to move forward. Despite watching numerous walkthroughs, tutorials, and guides, I am still unable to figure it out. If anyone has any knowledge of this kind of thing, please share it with me. Right now, I'm starting to feel desperate. The author has permitted to port the mod for Xbox.

[FO4] Butler, chef or caterer clothes for Strong?

I've been looking for butler, chef or general caterer clothes in XXXXXXXL, but I haven't had any luck so far - and I don't really know how to turn human-sized clothing into supermutant wear.

I seem to remember Brian Virgil in a lab coat, but my theme is domestic help.

[fo3] [fnv] Having performance problems with begin again mod

so I downloaded begin again about 2 or 3 days ago started playing fallout 3 noticed some performance issues with fps drops here and there but they were fine since they didn't last long but it wasn't till last night when I was playing when I experienced the most fps drops and today when I started to play again the fps kind of became unbearable it really starts when I'm downtown like near the monument or out in the wasteland I don't have the best pc but I don't understand why I can't run the game even with all the mods installed I have a 1660 super with a i-9700f and also 16gb of memory. sorry for the bad spelling and no punctuation

[Fo2] Fallout Nevada Keycard for Locked Room in Bunker

You need a metal detector, then go inside the bunker. Go to the locked door, now go to the computer on the right of the actual working computer. Use your metal detector, and you should be able to get the keycard to open the door. It is just a plasma pistol.
