I need a break from my tiny ass house and my goddamn roommate, any places yall know I can sleep in my car for a night or two without getting in trouble or whatever.

Is anywhere actually hiring at the moment? My only restriction is I can't stand long due to army injury but I have AS in psychology, 3 years in mental health/crisis support, 6+ in customer service, 4+ in childcare. I have applied to 30+ places in the last month and have heard nothing. Motivated and creative and wanting to pay my rent. I'm on everything from indeed, glassdoor, ziprecruiter, monster, company sites, but nothing really seems to lead beyond "unfortunately we're not moving forward with your application".

My current place of work is a Corvallis nonprofit with a knack for firing people. They do it for no reason, for bad reasons, for standing up to the boss, when people are sick, hospitalized, etc.

They get away with it because Oregon is an “at will” state, so whenever people get fired, they just say, “we are an at will employer and don’t have to give you a reason.”

It is really scary. I’ve worked here two years and in this time, over a dozen people have been fired. Most of them were competent and hard working.

We are starting to get scared. Who is next?

At the same time, it is a very emotional, taxing job and we are only paid a dollar over minimum wage.

The executive director doesn’t make a ton either, but it’s at least a living wage. But he isn’t very nice and has made some crude remarks at work. He also is in charge of all the firing…

Me and several other employees are scared and overwhelmed and we don’t know what to do. Is there anyone in Corvallis who can help us unionize?

Are there other options?

We know the second one of us tries to unionize or ask for better working conditions, we will be fired.

We used to have a direct, anonymous email code to talk to the board of directors, but they recently took that away. We know the board doesn’t know the conditions. But we can’t get ahold of them directly without fear of repercussions.

What can we do? 😔

It doesn't look like I'll be able to find a rental(budget is ~$1300) with a WD or hookups. I'm extremely sensitive to scented laundry products, they make me ill, and they're really not good for anyone or the environment. Are there any laundromats that only allow natural or unscented products?

Maybe I'm the only one irritated by this but some of our roads really seem to encourage people creating their own turn lane in wide roads. 53rd and Philomath bullevard seems to be the worst offender. No right turn lane exists at these intersections and even if I'm stopped at the light with my blinker on more often than not someone just rolls up past everyone else to make a right turn. Could the city either mark a turn lane or ticket people who pretend one exists?

I’m getting together with an acquaintance that I’ve known from around town for years, but have only spent time with this person once (also years ago). We’ve always said we need to hang out and we’re finally getting around to it (not romantically, just two straight women in their mid-late 40s building a friendship).

I don’t drink and this person seldom drinks. I live outside of town. What is there to do around here in the early evening that doesn’t solely revolve around drinking? Any cool events happening?

If you accidentally received my DoorDash order at Willamette Court Apartments yesterday, took it inside, and wouldn’t answer the door when I came to get it:

1. That was my only birthday present I got all day, so that kinda sucked that you took it.

3. It was just cake; it wouldn’t have gone bad if you left it for a little while to see if someone would come get it.

Maybe it’s just the planned timing of the stages of the project but seems like all work on the new road and 99 access just stopped. Now there is a pond on the west side of Samaritan drive. Anyone know when this is slated to be completed or if they hit a snag?

Bicycle hitch-on cargo trailers…are there municipal regulations in Corvallis on what can be pulled, how big, the distance from back of bike, their construction, and any necessary lighting or reflectors, and possibly registration requirements? Are there statewide codes too? And, from the local cops, are there cargo related bike issues that they’re particularly eager to cite for?
