It's looking very promising to have snow on the beach next week! I'm just hopeful we don't get into a freeze/thaw cycles with iced-over roads. Stay safe out there.
I'm staying by Josephsons Smokehouse which is definitely on the list. What else should I not miss while here? I really need suggestions for like now because I'm hungers and this Oriental joint next door looks not great.
After 8 years as a Facebook-only group, Oregon Gay Men’s Outdoors is leaving Meta behind to allow for membership to men (including FTM) who don’t use Facebook as well as to better provide member privacy and security.

Were possible, I’ve tagged the post NSFW because the group is 18+ only, and the events organizers are permitted to schedule clothing optional events.
I’m from out of state but traveling to Oregon and was wondering if there are any local restrictions on night kayaking I should know about for example does my kayak need red and white nav lights, omnidirectional white light, no lights, or something else? Different rules for the ocean vs rivers/lakes? Also are there any restrictions on using a headlamp to light up shorelines at night time? I’ll be there during the snowy plover restriction months
Hello all! Next weekend I wanted to plan a little solo trek out to Depoe bay and the surrounding areas. I initially wanted to hopefully see some whales but it looks like the Whale Research Ecoexcursions has no tours available and the OPRD’s website says it’s closed through 2/28. Any insight on what I should maybe seek out for a back up plan there?
Since I missed out on king tides, I would love to hear your favorite spots for seeking out dramatic moody coastal views, hikes in the area and your favorite restaurants and dive bars. I’m on a bit of a budget but per everyone’s recommendations in this sub, I’ll definitely be making it over to Tidal Raves.
I’ve road tripped all up and down the coast this summer but I don’t know the area super well and I understand that February is a whole different beast than August. I appreciate you guys for reading through this and throwing any tips you may have my way. Thank you bunches!

I actually posted a similar post in r/humboldt ,and I've been thinking about it since then.
A little bit about me: I've actually only lived on the Oregon Coast once, in Brookings, but I've lived in other parts of Oregon (both urban, small town, and rural), and I lived on the Northern California coast, in several places in Washington State, and in Montana. I've also visited many other places across those areas. Seeing these places gives me some context for all of them: does Newport, Oregon look more like Arcata, California, or Bellingham, Washington, or Whitefish, Montana? Or does it look more like a place that is geographically closer, but larger, like Corvallis?
So I have a few thoughts, but I wonder what people who have been to these places would say!
Hi yall. From Texas and we’re planning to go to Rockaway Beach this March to relax and go offline. Wondering what to pack to be prepared for the weather. And what to visit, restaurants, hiking trails, etc. thanks yall
I visited this place in 2021 and witnessed the most stunning sunset. It's captured from the roadside. I think I've geotagged it as Short Beach Oregon. Could this view be possible from there or is it some other place? I know for sure it's between Nehalem Bay and Umpqua State Park.
Hey from a midwesterner! Best times and places for whale watching? Thinking of a road trip on the coast.
Hey all! I'm planning a trip with my girlfriend for valentines weekend to Lincoln city, and I'm looking for good sightseeing Ideas on our trip. We are planning on going to the Newport aquarium one of those days. I'm in need of some things to do on the way or on the way back from Newport.
Here are some things I have so far:
Yaquina head lighthouse
Newport zoo
Secret float fairies in lincoln city
Devils Punchbowl
Side door cafe Lincoln beach
Otter crest loop
Depoe bay to whale watch
Nye beach
Thank you all for the help. I'm not too familiar with the area as I usually go to seaside/Astoria.
I'm hoping to make more of these videos, but it requires alot of footage, but the views all along the coastline are spectacular.
Planning on being on Oregon Coast with family for the first time in late summer. Anything that is a cant miss? Planning on two weeks. We are flexible on exact location.
Hi all, I’ve been to this area several times before and done all the main stuff — cape Kiwanda, Neskowin, hiked to Cape Lookout, etc. Went down as far as Depoe Bay along the coast.
This trip will be for a week in July.
I’d like to make it further south towards Bandon and Gold Beach but that’s too long of a round trip. Staying with family so probably can’t peace out for two full days.
Have some kids with us so I was thinking the Wings & Waves water park in McMinnville.
Would it be worth getting down to Newport? Is the aquarium worthwhile? Other stuff to do there? Is Devil’s Punchbowl a must see?
Is it worth getting down to Florence? That might be the outer limit of my radius.
Anything particularly worthwhile in Lincoln City? I’ve always just passed through before.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
So me and my boyfriend want to move to Gold Beach, Bandon or Coos Bay,we would be coming from Lake county California,we are familiar with Gold Beach and Bandon, not so much Coos Bay but it's another possible location, any tips or advice? (Please don't say Cali people are blood suckers or something cause my boyfriend is from Florida and I'm from the Chicago area lol 😆) We just lived in California for awhile and looking to relocate
Hey everyone, I was just in the Lincoln City area for 4 days earlier this month.
I’m from Orange County in California and had I not been injured I would’ve been out surfing all day. If this spot was in SoCal there would be a hundred people on it, not even exaggerating.
Are the waves this fun often in this part of the coast? I also got super lucky and it was strangely sunny and warm most of the time I was in town. I’m assuming this not typical for January in coastal Oregon.
I hope you can enjoy the day
I would pay for this recipe, love it, want to make it at home. My favorite recipe ever! Please help me!
