Hi! I am visiting Portland with my sister nov 10-13 I get there really late nov 10th but have a free day the 11th. I want to go to cannon beach but don’t want to rent/drive a car there as both me and my sister aren’t experienced driving long distances.
There is an Amtrak bus that gets there at 10 am and gets back to Portland at 9 pm. We don’t want to do that as we don’t want to spend the whole day there.
Are there any well known tour companies that any of you are familiar with for a day trip to the Oregon coast? I see many online but I can’t tell if they are legitimate. If we have to go the whole day I’d rather do multiple things as listed on the tour lists.
Is there an alternative way to get there without having to drive yourself??
I'm visiting for a coast trip and would love to hear your reccomendations on lesser traveled beaches close to pacific city. Feel free to send me a message if you don't want to give up your beach spot publicly 😊
Coming out 11/14-11/18. Flying in and out of PDX and was told by a cousin that lives there that Depoe Bay is great for King Tides, and see Shore Acres down by Coos Bay mentioned a lot.
Both look great, but about 3 hours apart.
How’s the driving? Should I stay somewhere like Florence and drive to both Shore acres and Depoe on different days? Or am I better off concentrating in one area? Looks like there’s not as much between the two places until you get close to either. So wondering if I’d be better off staying near one for ease of sunrise/sunset photography w the waves, and then, if I decide that area isn’t consuming all my time, drive to the other. But which should I concentrate on?
TLDR: should I stay near Depoe Bay or Shore Acres for King Tides/Oregon Coast photography weekend? Or stay somewhere in the middle?
Saw this purple orb hovering over the beach and my dog was going nuts over it! 🤣
Having recently moved here from Colorado I don’t typically pull out the bus in the winter time. Mountain passes and snow were never friendly to my type 2’s. My question is to all of you air cooled owners do you daily drive yours year round?
I've been researching this to death and think I need to get a different perspective. I had been looking at places around Cannon Beach that had on-site spas, but the reality is that we'll only use that once or twice during the week. So, I guess its more important that our living space be super comfy. Maybe it has in-room jacuzzi, furniture that's not corporate hotel style, fireplace since we're going mid-November, nice view. Ideally in the $200/nt range or less if that's not asking too much. I'm sure we're spending most of our time reading and doing nothing much so the space we're doing that in is priority, and it doesn't need to be Cannon Beach. Thanks for any suggestions.
Hello Oregon Coasters!! My wife and I live in Salem and are coming out to Cannon Beach for a four day weekend in November. I would like to ask for recommendations for adults only dining for three nights. I know it's a tall order and we're pretty casual when at the beach but would like one place that is a little more upscale but not suit and tie swanky. We love the beach this time of the year and are excited to be there. TIA!!
It's just neverending pictures to take here ....
Squeezing out every pennie: Bring back mom and pop shops. That is main street America.. End Corporate Rule!!
We are planning a road trip from the kootenay area of BC (Castlegar) to LA in early December. Looking for general advice, what to expect weather wise at that time of year, how long would this trip take if driving about 8-9 hrs per day, taking tge coast tge while way. I did the same trip a few years ago but I wasn't in control of the driving and it took 5 days, with driving about 5 hrs per day. Also looking for advice on places to stop and things to see. We will have 2 kids under 10 with us. Thanks :)
Looking for hotel recommendations in Northern Oregon, thinking Seaside/Cannon Beach/Astoria area. Thanks for any suggestions!
Edit: I'm only looking for oceanfront/oceanview options
My 84yo dad wants to move to the coast from Tucson. He’s got some fairly complex healthcare needs. We are nearby in the Willamette Valley. His wife is younger than he is and manages his care. Setting aside housing affordability/availability (which are real concerns for him), how is the North/central Coast’s healthcare resources for seniors? I know Samaritan network extends out there but I need to better understand what the healthcare situation is for Medicare patients needing specialists before he commits to this significant change near the end of his life.
I'm making a calendar for my 78-year-old mother from photos she took while visiting Oregon. She wants the names included, but we can't find the name of this bridge. She thinks it was somewhere on the coast near Coos Bay, but she's not certain.
Hey y’all I live on the south coast and regularly visit Sixes, Elk, Rogue and Chetco rivers. I have loved finding swimming holes, hikes and wild camp sites up the rivers. I’d like to start taking trips up north to explore other rivers. I would appreciate any recommendations. If you would be willing to share any hidden/favorite spots and would rather DM me please do. Thanks!
Planning a trip next year and initially was thinking April/May. However now wondering if September would be better 😅 factors I’m considering are general weather, whale watching, prices, and less crowds/tourists. Feel free to make recommendations on other times of years or things to consider. Thank you in advance!
Spotted near Yachats (nice job to whoever did this!)
I'll be in Newport for lunch tomorrow and my husband and I are both vegetarian (dairy and eggs ok). Looking for recommendations for the best vegetarian meal available during lunch. Doesn't need to be a specifically vegetarian/vegan restaurant. Good food from any restaurant is great. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
Looking into some community college options on the Oregon Coast. Was impressed by the degree offerings on their website. However, I heard the staff turnover there is high.
Anybody have experience with this school?
